Fantastische Erfahrung: I love art museums and this one is absolutely beautiful, and well maintained. They have so many great exhibits on the two floors and some interesting sculptures outside. The cost of admission online was only $18, which is rather inexpensive for viewing the great artwork that is on display. The staff is friendly and makes all feel very welcomed. They have plenty of parking in the back, several restrooms, a kids' corner for activities, a little cafe, and a cute gift shop. I definitely recommend checking this place out as it is truly a great way to spend a couple of hours of your day.

Negative Erfahrung: Visitor UN- friendly. We were followed everywhere we went by an employee on a very unbusy Wednesday. We are a senior married couple, carrying no handbags, etc. Whenever we got close to the artwork, an alarm would ring (which I understand, to a point) and we were scolded by an employee. However, in order read the small 5x5 inch plaque next to the paintings, we had to get close to the art. As seniors, we have a hard time reading them at a few feet away, even with our glasses. The receptionist should warn patrons upon arrival and there should be warnings and lines on the floor near the art. The attitude of the staff towards patrons in inexcusable. We will not return to this museum.

Negative Erfahrung: The place has been turned into a Woke propaganda center. I want to see art, not vile Marxist nonsense! I hope they get new management and actually respect the people who visit instead of checking DEI boxes.

Fantastische Erfahrung: My husband and I hadn't been to this museum in several years. We enjoyed it this time even more than we did in the past. The museum is beautifully laid out and is well curated. There were more film/video displays than we remembered. And the food in the cafeteria was delicious. All in all, it was a delightful experience.

Fantastische Erfahrung: Rossetti exhibit is gorgeous with the fall foliage outside, great merch in the giftshop, and beautiful images on loan from the Tate, Logifts hope, fabulous exhibit.

Negative Erfahrung: Extremely disappointed in this collection. Not worth your time and the price of admission was high given the works that they had. Also you should be prepared for them to watch you on camera the entire time, very creepy. Apparently I got too close to a picture when reading the description and was told to step back from the painting via a loudspeaker. I was not even close and only holding a piece of paper in my hand. We will never be back. Ever.

Fantastische Erfahrung: I had a wonderful experience at this museum. I had not been since I was quite young. I could not remember much about it or really say I could leave a review until I went back. My husband and I spent time strolling through and enjoying everything our hearts desired. I'm glad we started outside because the inside is bigger than I recalled. We started outside with the sculpture garden since that day there was a nice cool breeze. Most of the path was quite level, so I wouldn't have any issues with using my cane. I don't always need one, but I have some bad weeks. It's important to mention this especially if you look at my profile and my reviews, I'm looking out for accessibility issues whenever I go places. I think about wheelchair users, and I think about older folks and people who have health problems like myself. Speaking of which, on the inside, the museum has elevators, so you can get upstairs and downstairs with ease. The bathrooms are comfortable, spacious, and conveniently located. To me, every space felt welcoming and carefully designed and decorated! I loved the variety of artists and art on display. I was impressed with the number of African American artists I ended up learning about. I was just going to enjoy the museum and personally didn't have any expectation of finding a lot of Black artists. So I was pleasantly surprised, and it gave me a sense of pride! We had our lunch at their cafe, which is really a beautiful space. We chose to eat outside because, again, it was nice weather. Everyone was friendly, helpful, and accommodating if there were any needs expressed during the trip to the museum. I recommend locals and out-of-towners visit because you get so much for $14, the price of what some fast food meals almost are, honestly. I would advise several hours to take it in, and I was there two and a half hours but didn't get to the library or children's area downstairs. Neither did I get to shop even though their shop looks like it's fantastic! I will be back to visit again during the Rosetti's exhibit. Five-star experience and I'm thinking about getting a membership for the family.

Fantastische Erfahrung: When the Delaware Museum of Nature and Science was closed for an event, my little family drove past the Delaware Art Museum on our way home. With two very disappointed little kids in the car, we thought it was worth a try, and I cannot overstate how impressed I am by the very intentional kid-friendliness of the Delaware Art Museum! We started our adventure in the Cafe because it was cold and rainy, and the kids needed hot cocoa to warm up, and the grownups will never turn down a nice coffee. These drinks were 10/10. The hot chocolate was the perfect temperature for little kids without having to wait or add ice cubes. The mocha latte and the white mocha latte were perfect - just sweet enough, but not at all syrupy, and the latte art was some of the best I've seen outside of Pinterest! The barista who does the latte art should teach classes! The cookies were great, but the macarons were a little too creative for my preschooler's palette. I thought they were delicious, though. To top it off, there was a tiny library full of books for kids of all ages! I LOVED that the kids could flip through a book while we enjoyed our snack, and I'm now disappointed that other cafés don't have little kid libraries! In the basement, there was a perfectly magical room for kids to play in. Everything was made of soft fabric, there was an ENORMOUS toy dog that children are encouraged to climb on and read to, and there was *another* children's library stocked to the brim with beautifully diverse books, bilingual books, books written in Spanish, and books about a few artists. It was truly delightful to snuggle up in the nest and read a book with my big kid while my toddler roamed and climbed. In addition to the deliberate kid spaces, the galleries themselves were welcoming for little ones. No one shushed my big kid as he exclaimed about the beautiful sculptures and talked about his favorite parts of paintings, and there were so many things just at his eye level that he could enjoy. It seemed like there were nearly as many children visiting the museum that rainy afternoon as there were adults! I can't wait to go back and explore the sculpture garden on a nicer day.

Прогуляйтеся невеличким садком скульптур позаду музея. Парковка безкоштовна. В приміщенні музею працює вишукана кав'ярня. Цього тижня не встигли продегустувати каву. Повернемось обов'язково.

Fantastische Erfahrung: We visited the Art Museum on a Sunday because Sundays (at least at the moment) are free. It was my first time to the museum and I was pleasantly surprised by the size and scope of the place. They have a lovely sculpture garden outside. We spent about 20 minutes walking through it. Inside there is plenty of impressive art that was created or held by Delaware collectors. We ended up spending about 2 hours perusing it. There is also a very good coffee and sandwich shop, and a gift shop. We really enjoyed our afternoon and will return.

Negative Erfahrung: Antiwhite establishment. I expect and don't care that most will find my insight fringe. The illustration exhibit is particularly blatant with this, wherein they blast very audibly through several rooms a looping video about how oppressive and evil white men are while denigrating the very work they're show casing, because it was created mostly by white men. The volume was so loud I couldn't even focus and read the descriptions of artists who weren't white men that they stupidly placed right by the television. The designers of this exhibit are so vehemently spiteful in their convictions that they've made it impossible to enjoy the work they're trying to raise awareness of. This goes without mention the very clear skew that all of the written descriptions have. It's less of a museum and more of a political soap box for very resentful and hate filled individuals.

Fantastische Erfahrung: world famous from the Brabywine School and the Pre- Raphaelite masters, as well as contemporary artists. Well worth the visit. And the cafe/restaurant is exceptional for light meals.

Negative Erfahrung: I was there with a school group and they asked us (the whole group) to leave after one woman’s camera flash accidentally (she was mortified both times when it happened) went off. I think they could have handled it very differently. For one they could have given a warning saying we saw the flash go off and if it happens again you’ll be leaving. It’s not like the woman tried to do it or was doing it on purpose. One time wasn’t even in front of any artwork. She took a hundred pictures without flash. Another option would have been to ask just the one person to leave and not punish the kids on a special night. Won’t go back or provide support going forward.

Fantastische Erfahrung: We went for a daybof service in celebration of MLK Jr's birthday. It was a great event, well put together and attended. We will definitely be going back to check out the museum as a whole another time.

Lovely sculpture park. Free on Sundays; free parking every day. Museum is in a really nice neighborhood too. A real gem of a museum!

Fantastische Erfahrung: Awesome place to visit in Wilmington to see American art. The sculpture garden outside is large but manageable (sparsely populated with sculptures). Lots of artwork from both Howard Pyle and Pre-raphaelites. Not too crowded on a weekday morning. Parking is free and located a short walk from the entrance. Free on Sundays and some other times (check website) but worth the full price of admission for adults ($14 as of 12/30).

Lauren was so easy to work with and addressed all my questions and requests timely, professionally and expertly. They were able to accommodate our specific requests, such as a mimosa bar and space for a photo wall. The space was beautiful and spacious. Thank you!

Fantastische Erfahrung: Such a picturesque musuem in a beautiful and tranquil neighborhood! The exhibits ranged from one-of-a-kind Tiffany Stained Glass pieces to outdoor sculptures and a rock physical maze. Wear comfortable walking shoes because there are three floors of various exhibits to visually inspect and dissect! The Brandywine Valley will not disappoint!

Fantastische Erfahrung: A dazzling, forgotten gem. I am slightly averse to writing so much about this museum, because I love the fact that it is so unknown to the vast majority of people traveling up and down the East Coast. But right next to all of these old stately houses from centuries past, you can find on an idyllic green lawn, this stately, softly brown Neoclassical museum that contains a wide variety of art from the present and past. There is a lyrical, dazzling beauty to even some of the newer art, but nothing can compare to the pristine intensity of the pre-Raphaelite collection. As an ardent scholar of 19th century art and literature, I have seen these free Rafael light paintings in books and studies and and lecturers. To see them in their elegant, precise vibrancy right in front of my eyes is an otherworldly experience, and an uncanny one, considering how unknown this museum is. Pre Raphaelite art marks a break from the conventional, a break from accepted standards of beauty in form, and an attempt to recover an older, forgotten conception of art that emphasizes an almost uncomfortable intensity of beauty and enchanted wonder.

Positive Erfahrung: Meh. I have been to quite a few museums. Pretty good for a small local one. Staff could be a little more engaging honestly or it would get 4 stars.

Fantastische Erfahrung: Well-curated collection of art, both historical and contemporary, with a lovely sculpture garden to add to the pleasure. The museum was very quiet on the June Saturday we visited with plenty of space to enjoy the art without crowds or distractions. The cafe, located on the main floor, is small but quite special.

Positive Erfahrung: Numerous galleries with awesome arts. I loved the sculpture park and labyrinth walk. There is a cafe and I did not tried anything there but looks like the locals love it. There are free admission days from May thru October, so i recommend a visit even if you are not a huge fan of arts.

There were so many interactive sections that teach us about history as well as many other skills. This place is somewhat kid friendly. This is an amazing museum and I highly recommend it. Fantastische Erfahrung: Over the years the Delaware Art Museum has only improved. Their gardens are beautiful, the exhibits are thoughtful and amazing and the docents are always ready to help. Highly recommend this local gem. Don't forget to explore and find the meditation garden around back.

Positive Erfahrung: This Muesem was really cool and nice, and the artwork was just amazing. There was a room with really old books (bit of a book freak over here) and there was a room with optical illusions. There is a sculpture garden outside along with a sort of run down but still nice labrinth,(but it's not there anymore, there is just the spot where it was). The only thing I WOULD complain about is the old security guard kept stalking me and my sister the WHOLE time! He even came up to us and said "Sorry miss but you can't have water bottles in here" pointing at her WALLET. Then after that he was very sus but other then coming over a bunch of times after that it was okay. The art is awesome though. Would definitely recommend, but not for children under the age of 10, they will most likely get bored very quickly. If you have small children I would recommend the please touch muesem down the street. There is also a kids room but I'm pretty sure that it's still closed.

Fantastische Erfahrung: Had a very lovely time! It's a great museum to do in one afternoon. Came for the Pre-Raphaelite collection, stayed for the Pyle illustrations and the evocative modern art. Unfortunately, it was too rainy to go to the sculpture garden :( The gift shop is also AMAZING.

Fantastische Erfahrung: Such a gorgeous museum! I was only able to visit for a little over an hour, and I barely covered the first section. Clearly a lot of love and care goes into these exhibits! And they took care to make sure all the proper Covid protocols were followed. I cannot wait until I can visit again.

We enjoyed looking at all of the different exhibits and learning about the artists. They also had an adorable cafe that had an adorable spot to take a cute picture!

Es hat uns Spaß gemacht, all die verschiedenen Exponate anzuschauen und etwas über die Künstler zu erfahren. Es gab auch ein bezauberndes Café, in dem man ein süßes Foto machen konnte!

Fantastische Erfahrung: Tolles Museum, wirklich schöne und interessante Kunst, sowohl in der ständigen als auch in der temporären Sammlung. Außerdem fand ich die Preise wirklich fair, was bei kulturellen Einrichtungen heutzutage immer seltener der Fall ist. Auch von dem kleinen Café war ich angenehm überrascht. Das Angebot ist für einen so kleinen Raum recht umfangreich, und es war lecker. Alle Mitarbeiter, mit denen ich zu tun hatte, waren hilfsbereit und freundlich. Ich habe meine Kinder auch in den Kinderbereich mitgenommen. Klein aber fein.

Wir sind nicht in das eigentliche Museum hineingegangen, aber Scott und ich haben das kreisförmige Labyrinth auf der Rückseite genutzt, um sein Tiktok-Video zu filmen. Brauchen wir dafür eine Genehmigung? Ich glaube, die wichtigere Frage ist: "Wen interessiert das?" Aber im Ernst Freunde, die verschiedenen Kunstwerke im Außenbereich sind einfach fabelhaft. Wir haben ein paar spontane Aufnahmen in der Umgebung gemacht und sind dann zum Rockford Park geschlendert. Vielen Dank an das Delaware Art Museum!

They had a nice variety of artists, some were instrumental in the course of our current media with some of their art styles and how our current perceptions were developed. They also had a Tiffany exhibit which I enjoyed.

Definitely was a surprise visit! This is one of the smaller museums that you can spend hours browsing their quality artworks in collection!

Attentive staff that was very passionate about the art there and its history. Even without a guide with us, we received a nice amount of information from staff about pieces we were interested in.
