Fantastische Erfahrung: The museum is so large that I couldn’t finish my tour in just one full day. There are plenty of sections with lots of details to explore. If you enjoy taking photos, don’t forget to bring your power bank; my phone battery ran out within just half a day. The place is definitely worth my time.

Fantastische Erfahrung: One of the best museums! It's so easy to spend an entire day looking through the incredibly beautiful art at the MET. It was fairly crowded, even though it was a weekday, but it didn't change the experience at all. The museum is very spacious and has so many different exhibits. Definitely buy tickets in advance. Absolutely a must visit :)

Fantastische Erfahrung: I had the most amazing time at the MET. I was lucky enough to be invited as a parent chaperone for my sons HS trip- and in doing so checked off an important item from my bucket list! I saw some of my favorite works by some of my favorite artists. Additionally the atmosphere was extravagant and open, the staff and security was warm, knowledgeable and kind. I already cannot wait to return!

Fantastische Erfahrung: What a pleasure visiting this museum. You need a full day to just to have an overview. I would recommend one of the highlight tours (they are not free, last about 3hrs) suitable for those interested in just knowing what is in th collection and taking photos, if you are serious about a specific section in the collection, you will need another couple of hours. I loved the Modern Art Section. Make sure you spare an hour for the roof garden, a highlight of the tour.

Fantastische Erfahrung: Beautiful museum. If you love art, I recommend going over a period of two days, even that is too little time for how much this museum has to offer. As an artist I felt overwhelmed by the amount of art and artifacts there is in the museum, I recommend taking breaks during your visit or to check beforehand and know what galleries you really are interested in seing first. I have visited 4 times, and I still have not been able to see the entire museum.

Fantastische Erfahrung: Since time is limited, we are only able to see a few exhibitions. So much more to see and to learn. Maybe next time. I had the chance to visit the metropolitan museum 10 years ago. It was much easier to observe those precious Egyptian temples and mummies closely.

Fantastische Erfahrung: If you visit this place and don’t find one thing you’re in awe of, there’s something wrong with you. Also if you’re a grown adult walking around touching the artworks - something wrong with you. These artifacts didn’t exist hundreds, even thousands of years for you to touch them! Or for your children to touch them. Don’t bring children here - they’re going to be bored out of their minds. For everyone else, this place is amazing. Probably the most mind blowing collection of art I’ll see in my lifetime. This was my second entire day visit and I’m just barely satisfied that I saw most of the exhibits. I could spend weeks here. The history is just incredible. My favorite parts were examining the jewelry and trinkets, marveling over their detail and trying to figure out how they were made. The furnished European rooms were really cool too. Definitely grab a paper map on your way in.

Positive Erfahrung: I loved the exhibits on the history of instruments. It would have been even better with some more chances to hear how they sound rather than just displaying them.

Fantastische Erfahrung: Gosh I could spend easily 3-4 days at this museum and not see everything It's just huge. And from what I understand it's actually only 1/10 of their collection. The other 90% is in storage somewhere. Reminder to New Yorkers: We get to pay as you wish.

Positive Erfahrung: Beautiful museum with a great collection of artwork. I like that they allow you to bring your own water. However, the dining options here are pretty terrible. I also don't really see eye-to-eye with the no backpack on your back rule, which isn't even consistently enforced.

Fantastische Erfahrung: Incredible museum with something for everyone. Although it's called a museum of art, it's just a much a museum of history. In our four hour visit we barely got to see half. I was fine paying to support the museum as an out of state attendee, what a cool benefit for residents to be able to choose their own price. We'll have to come back someday for the other half.

Fantastische Erfahrung: The Met never disappoints. There's always some little something to be found and discovered even after multiple visits. Go early to avoid the crowds. And if you eat inside, go for the pizza. A slice and side salad for $9 is about as good as it gets in NYC.

Fantastische Erfahrung: Words aren't enough to describe what the Metropolitan Museum of art has to offer! For $30, we visited the Met cloisters and the Met on a Saturday. Even though it was crowded when we entered, the Met is so large that we were the only ones in certain areas. Be prepared to walk a lot to cover all the wings of the Met and pick a map at the entrance to avoid getting lost. We spent 4 hours here and completed most of the museum. The Egyptian side was our favourite.. such a vast collection and very well preserved too. The armory and Greek & Roman wings were amazing. The staff were friendly and helpful. It was awesome to sit on the steps of the Met (Gossip girl fan!)

Fantastische Erfahrung: It was amazing, totally worth it! There was no line to enter, the employees were friendly and helpful and the exhibitions were absolutely stunning, and so was the rooftop view. I bought the guided tour and the guide was super nice and explained everything, even though most of the information was written next to the exhibits. Contrary to other reviews, the signs were pretty easy to read and you couldn’t really get lost. I understand some complaints about the signs being only in English, but it’s the universal language after all. Changing the subject, the gift shop had some nice souvenirs with pretty reasonable prices compared to other museums! It was a great experience and a must-see if you’re going to New York!

Fantastische Erfahrung: We went to view the "Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion" exhibition. It was beautiful. We went on a Monday so it was not too crowded. Buy your tickets online, it's much better and faster than at the museum.

Word of warning - most of the pieces have their little cards at the bottom of the alcove, and if you lean too close to read it, the voice goes off 'You are too close to the art, please step away'

I started in the Egyptian Art section, where the Temple of Dendur transported me back in time with its grandeur. The European paintings gallery, featuring works by Van Gogh and Rembrandt, was equally captivating, with Van Gogh’s “Starry Night” leaving a lasting impression. The diversity of the Met’s collections was a highlight. The Asian art galleries offered a serene contrast to the dramatic European pieces, and the Arms and Armor section fascinated me with its historical depth. The temporary exhibitions, like a contemporary fashion exhibit, showcased the Met’s innovative approach to blending history and modernity. Despite its size, the museum is navigable, and the cafes and the peaceful Met Cloisters provide perfect spots for breaks. Overall, the Met is more than a museum; it’s a place where art, history, and culture come alive, offering a deeply enriching experience for every visitor.

Fantastische Erfahrung: The Met is a place that should be visited 2-3 days. They offer different Memberships that may be of help to improve the experience. We did the Global membership, and it was spectacular. The permanent exhibits are amazing. The collections are so spectacular. New and visiting exhibits ...awww! We need to cultivate our lives.

Fantastische Erfahrung: An incredibly beautiful museum. Whether you are thinking of visiting it or not, it is definitely worth going and seeing the wonders of art from all over the world. You can see works of art from European countries, Ancient Egypt, Africa and other empires. The museum is huge. You'll need a full day and a good meal before starting your journey into history. You will be amazed and surprised by what you see inside. On the territory of the museum there is a cafe, places where you can sit and relax, and restrooms. Everything is very worthy and beautiful. Definitely worth visiting this place.

Fantastische Erfahrung: we went to see the sleeping beauties exhibit. The first day it opened once you get inside the museum you have to scan the QR code to get on the waiting list. You cannot do it ahead of time you have to do it when you get into the museum we waited for about a half an hour, but it would’ve been longer if we hadn’t gotten there early .

Fantastische Erfahrung: It's my favorite museum in the city. The only downside is that it's always crowded every time. I guess it's worth paying yearly membership if that means you could be in the galleries with your favorite artworks with much fewer people. My absolute favorite is the post impressionism section on the 2nd floor.

Fantastische Erfahrung: One of the largest and best museum in the world! A membership was/is well worth it here. It has the most extensive and variety of exhibits of any museum in NYC. One of my favorite was the “Temple of Dendur” and ancient Egyptian and Greek gifts and collections! Very well preserved and heard it exhibited for over 50 years inside the MET. All the Art & History was very interesting and educational. Enjoyed the European Master art collections, private exhibits, women artists, global artists, and time periods that cover ancient to modern. The roof top exhibit is open as well and has Lauren Halsey’s work up until Oct 22nd, 2023. Enjoyed the views of Manhattan skyline and Central Park up on the roof top. Checked out and liked their many dining options inside. Special thanks to all those working behind the scenes, volunteers, information helpers, guides, and maps (in many languages) available to help navigate easily in this magnificent space filled with monumental precious exhibits. Will be back often with friends and families to share the most incredible art experience!

Fantastische Erfahrung: There is so much more to experience here, this time around, the Greek Mythology statues really appealed to me and brought me back to the loved Greek Mythology course. Looking forward to returning.

Fantastische Erfahrung: Inspiring place! We didn't go all the way to the first floor and spent a wonderful two and a half hours here. Worth coming back again and again! Even if you are far from art and history, this will be useful for your overall development.

Fantastische Erfahrung: It is no surprise why they call 5th Avenue as the Museum Mile near 85th Street in NYC. You won’t be able to cover the entire museum in a single visit unless you got enough time. Museum is free for the people coming through select Libraries with an advance pass. In addition I heard the entry fees is kind of negotiable. Pay what you can.

Fantastische Erfahrung: Truly rich! As an Egyptian, I was surprised by the number and diversity of monuments they got in exhibition. I spent 5 hours touring this place, and it was not enough. Also, I cannot recall any other tradition not represented in the museum.

Fantastische Erfahrung: Overall experience was amazing: Metropolitan is a great museum with a lot of exhibitions. The best place to go on a rainy day in Manhattan. The line outside was moving fast and their online ticket purchase experience was very convenient. We were attending the newest Sleeping Beauties exhibition, the wait list was nicely organized so we were able to browse around without spending hours in the line. They just sent us text msg when it was our turn to enter. The staff at this exhibition was rude and barely patient. Maybe the first days after opening were stressful and overwhelming, but it was noticeable and unpleasant to interact with them.

Fantastische Erfahrung: I went with my sister who is a member of the MET. I have trouble walking a lengthy time or standing for long periods. We were able to acquire one of the museum's wheelchairs. We were thrilled to discover that the Tiffany exhibit was opening today for members. We enjoyed the exhibit and enjoyed sharing reactions with other viewers. We then went to see another exhibit, Hidden Portraits. It was a wonderful experience. The museum was filled with many people enjoying the art. A perfect afternoon in NYC.

Fantastische Erfahrung: Absolutely overwhelming. Gigantic collection of (classic) art. When we went there, there was a special exhibition of van Gogh paintings featuring cypresses. While one van Gogh featuring a cypress might be impressive, 40 in one room, lent from all over the world, are absolutely breathtaking. Don’t miss the roof terrace!!!

Positive Erfahrung: The ground floor Egyptian walls and chambers are very exciting to see in person. There are a lot of models, tombstones offering tables etc. on display. I found the contemporary art also quite alluring however the other exhibits (Asian art) seemed less numerous. The European paintings I skipped. Quite a lot of room furniture from different ages and French art and furniture from Versailles also visible.

Fantastische Erfahrung: If you visit NYC you have to go to The Met! No other museum can compete with the grandness of the exhibits. They are designed to make you feel a part of the history. You can easily spend an entire day there.

Fantastische Erfahrung: The MET is a must see if you have any appreciation for Art on any level. The museum is huge! It is a bit difficult to navigate as a novice, since the museum has so many different areas and genres of art. You cannot easily get from one to another. The collections there are priceless and stunning to see. There is a little of everything there, from ancient Egyptian mosaics, pieces of jewelry and solid golden sandals worn by the rulers to recreations of their tombs and hieroglyphics to ancient armor and weaponry with gold and silver engraved detail that is stunning and mind boggling in its beauty and detail, to Greek and Roman statues painstakingly repaired and restored, to all the classic artists and masters of Europe from Van Gogh, Renoir, Monet, and Seurat and others. The history of the pieces is as fascinating as the pieces themselves. There are also collections of ancient Asian art, Chinese, Japanese and Indian to see. You could easily spend a day here and not see everything if reading about each piece, maybe a week. It is incredible. Where else in the world can you see a room full of Monet or Van Gogh paintings and see suits of armor that were Henry the VIII's? You can literally walk right up to priceless works of art. The museum gets very busy, so early is usually better. Buy tickets in advance to save yourself the wait in line. It borders Central Park which is gorgeous in its own right.

Fantastische Erfahrung: Wonderful place with beautiful and exquisite pieces. Plan a whole day here and try to go when it is not a holiday or rainy out. Bad weather pushes people inside. If you are planning on visiting more than once or going to the Cloisters, buy the global membership - good for you and a guest over 18 PLUS your children under 18. $90 for one year vs. $30/person per museum.

Fantastische Erfahrung: Wow! This might just be my favourite museum I've visited. It's the perfect blend of art and history suited for history buffs like me. You'll need a day or more to actually see everything at the Met. I spent the whole Saturday but could only cover like 60%. It's hugeeeee!

Fantastische Erfahrung: The single best museum I have ever been to, you can spend a whole day getting lost here! I especially recommend bringing your own pair of noise-cancelling headphones and using the Bloomberg app as a guide!

Fantastische Erfahrung: Can The Met ever disappoint me? Nope, never. As a native New Yorker, The Metropolitan Museum of Art is an institution that I believe everyone should see when they're in NYC. The vast collections and rotating exhibitions are dynamic. You could visit this museum a hundred different times, and you'll notice something new each and every time. The works here are priceless, stretching from every corner of the Earth. It truly is a global museum, filled with the most surreal works of art throughout history. I also appreciate how they separate wings based on regions and countries; if you want to geek out on something specific, you can. There are also so many wonderful learning opportunities through guided tours and events. The wealth of knowledge at The Met is unparalleled. I will definitely be coming back to The Met very soon to explore more of the collections! My favorite sections of the museum: 131 Temple of Dendur, 700 The Charles Engelhard Court, 306 Medieval Treasury, 548 European Sculpture, 1700–1900, 217 Chinese Courtyard in the Style of the Ming Dynasty. Reminders: The food is pricey and not the greatest quality but you're coming to The Met for legendary art, not legendary food. If you don't buy tickets online, you may have to wait in a line which can be annoying so if you can afford to, it's best to purchase online so you skip the lines. There are also an endless number of bathrooms, and seating areas so if you get tired from walking you can easily take a break. Recommendation: There is a lot to see here, so if you like something specific I highly recommend you check out the museum map first and circle the sections you want to prioritize. You should also give yourself enough time to visit!

Positive Erfahrung: This museum is super nice! I went with some friends and there was barely a wait for anything besides the cafe that is a little overpriced but not too bad. The art is gorgeous but note you will need about 5/6 hours on an average weekday to see everything. Overall I recommend

Fantastische Erfahrung: Unbelievable selections from throughly history and the world. Truly a world class museum worth checking off of your bucket list. Be aware that one day isn’t enough time to see everything. It is definitely a two day minimum if you want to take everything in. Also, I wouldn’t schedule any activities after visiting because you will put in a lot of steps in this place.

Fantastische Erfahrung: Nice museum with lots to look at. Good way to spend a rainy day. The entrance to the museum was packed with a line to buy tickets. You can buy your tickets online and go to the entrance next to the stairs with a red door, which is a lot faster. I'm not sure why they don't have signs pointing this out since people were lining up and they didn't know why. The museum has a security check (water was fine) and a coat/bag check which was great since we didn't have to carry our travel bag with clothes around. It can be a bit crowded at the entrance with tourists and crowded in the food areas which we're pretty over priced. The layout was a bit hard to follow since there were many wings, you'll double back on some rooms. If you cross the entrance area, be prepared to rescan your tickets to get back inside the other wings. It's a very educatedal place with lots of interesting plaques to read. Our favorite area was the medieval arms and weapons wing, as well as the Egyptian wing.

Fantastische Erfahrung: Accessibility for my son in a wheelchair was very much appreciated. The display featuring Harlem Renaissance was our favorite, and I wish it were permanent. It was amazing to see works in person that one only views in books or films. We arrived late in the afternoon: I wished we’d had longer to stay,

Despite the crowds, the staff was efficient and adept at managing the flow of visitors, ensuring everyone could enjoy their visit without feeling overwhelmed. Although there was a bit of confusion regarding the app check-in for the fashion exhibit, which required some visitors to queue up twice, it was a minor hiccup in an otherwise flawless visit. The Met is an iconic destination that offers a rich tapestry of art and history, making it an essential visit for anyone in New York City.

Positive Erfahrung: If you like old and ancient, you'll love it! I did! The price of museums is...sad and uncomfortable. It is not accessible to everyone, but, neither is food and health care, so perhaps complaining about museums isn't the priority. Back to the topic: The displays are well developed and engaging; I was enthusiastically inspired throughout my three hours. Continue winning and I shall visit again!

Fantastische Erfahrung: Enjoyed an afternoon at the Met! The new exhibit Sleeping Beauty Reawakening " was awesome complete with sights and smells! There was over an hour wait for that exhibit so make sure you allow time. There's so much to see at the Met and there's a roof top spot for awesome views of the skyline!

Fantastische Erfahrung: The Met is among my favorite museums in NYC. There’s always something new to explore, and my visits are engaging no matter how many times I visit. Be sure to sign up for the special exhibits using the QR codes when you enter so you can plan your visit better. (And I’d suggest visiting on a weekday, because it gets far too crowded on weekends. Note that they have extended opening hours on Fridays and Saturdays though.)

Fantastische Erfahrung: What a phenomenal museum. This is an absolute MUST if you’re in New York. Make sure you allocate at least 4 hours for your visit to get the most out of it. We had a flight to catch, so we spent about 2 hours there and were able to see ~50% of the museum at a quick pace. We were not necessarily stopping to read descriptions like we would normally do just because we were in a bit of a rush. Absolutely hope to come back here again some day, it is by far one of the coolest museums in America.

One of the coolest parts about living in New York State is that the price of admission to the MET is suggested for locals with an ID. That means you can pay what you wish and enjoy some of the world's most incredible art collections. It's a fantastic deal that makes art accessible to everyone, and it’s a privilege that I encourage all New Yorkers to take advantage of. I’ve found that the best time to visit the MET is right when it opens. The galleries are quieter, the light is beautiful, and you can enjoy the art in a more intimate setting before the crowds roll in. Fantastische Erfahrung: AMAZING museum. I recommend going on a weekday when it’s less crowded. I went on a Friday evening which was also okay. However, the museum is humongous and needs 2+ days to finish especially if you want to go in detail and take in all the pieces. The gift shop is also huge and has lots of amazing stuff, great pr w obviously high prices. Basically free for ny/nj residents (you have to pay at least 0.01$). They also have free events/tours if you’re interested.

Fantastische Erfahrung: Incredible museum! Enormous amount of artifacts from thousands of years ago. They are beautifully set up with stands and lighting that just make the pieces come to life. My mind is completely blown by the amount of history I learned in one building, we booked a guided tour and that was amazing we were able to learn so much more. I want to go to MET every time I’m in New York. Extremely gorgeous facility with remarkable information. Tickets are $30 for adult which I find very expensive, but I was not dissatisfied with my experience.

Fantastische Erfahrung: Best art museum in America. However, I lament that it is pathetically unmarked, thereby impossible to find particular studios. Grateful for the knowledgeable attendants everywhere. Please note the tiny little Madonna icon that, at $45mm, is the single most expensive acquisition in the entire building.

Providing a clearly established process on accessing the self-guided audio tour, versus participating with a group tour, versus just navigating the museum on your own would be helpful. I appreciated the museum sharing this important piece of history regarding Central Park.

If you have never been to the MET, make sure you set aside one full day for it, to thoroughly go through the exhibits and read the details. It’s informative and interesting. And btw, setting aside one full day is a stretch if you intend to go through all the exhibits. I covered only a few in a span of 5 hours. In all, it’s worth the $30 USD.

Fantastische Erfahrung: The museum is so big that you cant even explore everything in a day. I got lost in this museum so many times trying to find my friends. The fashion area is locked away, and hard to find, but we eventually found it, and it was so busy but worth the hype. Definitely do research on how to find stuff before coming here.
