Experiencia fantástica: Lovely house very interesting
Experiencia fantástica: Really lovely place. Interesting in the house and child friendly with a play room upstairs. The gardens are beautiful and they have a couple of toys to be played with outside too.
Experiencia fantástica: The Grove Museum is a wonderful example of a Victorian mansion. It tells the story of the rich merchant from Liverpool who built the house as a holiday retreat and it was later lived in by the Gibb family, most notably sisters Alice and Janet who resided there until the 1970s. As well as the rooms being ornately decorated as they were at the time, the guide also gave a great description of how the Gibbs would have lived and some of the things that happened in the family's history. There are some great examples of machines they would have used, a Victorian shower and fashion of the time. And there are a host of Victorian games to see and - in some cases - play. Me and my daughter loved playing the 'Victorian pinball machine' and spent around 20 minutes on that alone. The gardens are also impressive and there is a chance to play croquet. Allow an hour-and-a-half at least for this attraction. If you are staying on the island for a few days, it is worth getting the heritage holiday pass which is £30 per adult for ten sites (children go free). You then have 14 days to visit the different attractions, which include Peel Castle, Cragneash, the Laxey Wheel, Rushen Abbey, The House of Manannan and Castle Rushen.
Experiencia fantástica: The house was brilliant! The rooms were lovely felt like fantasy fairytale! All belongings we well kept and staff were lovely it really gave a true understanding of what victorian household was really like
Experiencia fantástica: Beautiful place and an interesting story behind it, well worth a visit. The gardens are beautiful. A lovely spot. No wonder the sisters loved it so much.
Experiencia fantástica: Beautiful Victorian house. Really worth to visit. It is 22 min walk from the trainstation
Experiencia fantástica: Interesting house. Friendly guide. No cafe open when we visited.
Experiencia positiva: Starting to look tired and not invested in, I have a lot of happy memories of visiting here as a kid and still love the bee hive area but the museum is badly in need of investment
Experiencia fantástica: Well worth a visit.
Experiencia fantástica: Fascinating place to visit. There aren't many places that have so many of the original items. Geoff ( gave an introduction and outline of the history) was a mine of information, and Maggie (visitor host) was so friendly and helpful in suggesting other places to visit.
Experiencia positiva: A bit of a walk from ramsey Town centre but we'll worth a visit.
Experiencia fantástica: Lovely place to visit
Experiencia fantástica: Wonderful collection of everyday Victorian life. You are free to explore the house yourself but knowledgeable, helpful guides are also on hand.

Experiencia fantástica: A great look into the history of the GIBBS and th way they lived. Karen was a great tour guide and very knowledgeable.
Experiencia fantástica: Took kids here for turnips on tour, they loved it had a look around the house, then they topped the afternoon off with Some Manx dancing, I hope it becomes a regular event.
Experiencia fantástica: Excellent tour, staff so helpful, appreciated, made the day
Experiencia fantástica: I knew the miss Groves
Experiencia fantástica: A real gem. Perfectly preserved Victorian house. Wonderful on a sunny day, but just as good if it's raining. The kids will enjoy the upstairs more than the downstairs with the play room and the beehive to see.
Experiencia fantástica: Love grounds, lovely building and a unique insight into the history of a remarkable family. It is worth spending the time to come, enjoy, have some refreshment and leave refreshed in yourself!
Experiencia fantástica: This museum preserved one family's life from 1840 until the last heir died in 1979. O found this snap shot of history very interesting. The staff is friendly and helpful.
Experiencia fantástica: Loved it
Experiencia fantástica: Lovely place to visit, just missed out on flower show, though great cream tea.
Experiencia fantástica: A period in time kept in perfect order and explained by helpful guides. And a Manx Themed gift shop.
Experiencia fantástica: Great time place for history. Great guides, fascinating building, definitely worth a look
Experiencia positiva: Staff very friendly. Quaint little place which told a real story of how people lived.
Experiencia positiva: Well worth a visit especially if Geoff is ok to take you around him and the other staff are an absolute mine of information
Experiencia fantástica: Interesting in a melancholy way. I was lucky to have visited at the end of the day and we were the only visitors, arriving an hour before closing. As a result we were given a very personal and insightful tour. The house is frozen in time and really quite fascinating. There's a message here for all of us to remember, as the sisters grew up in reflected glory, enabling them to live in a house that had more maids and servants than the residents, but as time went by, they ended up in near poverty and living in one room of this enormous house - the kitchen. Dig a bit deeper and one of them had a serious love interest and potential for a happy married life, but opted to honour family commitments and stay with the house until the end of her days. This she kept hidden from all, including her sister, so was the house in the end a curse, a millstone around her neck? This is why you should visit and consider values from a bygone time.
Experiencia fantástica: If you like Victorian this is the place for you. A country house from that period in aspic. Nothing has changed. The family background story is fascinating. Nice people looking after it are doing a great job. Our lady guide was excellent... so friendly and informative. A nice tea room and gift shop too. Highly recommended
Experiencia fantástica: Very interesting
Experiencia fantástica: Lovely setting and insight to another time
Experiencia fantástica: 2nd visit, & there will be others. Lovely, simply presented story of the house & the people that lived there, + ducks...
Experiencia fantástica: Lovely old house/museum time stood still was very nice place to visit and very helpful staff ..Enjoyed our time their . well worth a visit
Experiencia fantástica: Lovely place to spend a couple of hours or more House not too big, so no reason to be bored. Guides were very helpful and informative but not too intrusive if you just want to browse. Café is a delight. Excellent tea and cakes served in China crockery and realistic prices. All in all a very pleasant way to spend an afternoon and would definitely visit again.
Experiencia fantástica: We always visit here...love it. The honey bees making their honey is amazing
Experiencia negativa: Ok. Now the lady on the desk was totally lovely and gent that we spoke to on arriving in the house itself knew his stuff and was lovely, but . . . The Grove that I remember as a kid has lost some of its charm (for me at least). It appears to need a lot of work. Where repairs have been done they kind of look like my attempt at fixing something, ie totally botched and stand out a mile. The manx national heritage need to get it sorted!
Experiencia positiva: Love the garden, not so bothered about the house!
Experiencia fantástica: Truly wonderful experience like stepping back in time.
Experiencia positiva: Very nice not as a big a house as I thought but very nice pity the little cafe doesn't do sandwiches
Experiencia positiva: Informative, slice of local history.
Experiencia fantástica: This is my favourite place in ramsey hidden on the outskirts of town, a beautifully kept victorian home exactly how it should be! The house is splendid and has its own beehive you can view which the kids love! Price of admission is fantastic and the cafe really is picturesque for afternoon tea! There is a free car park and gift shop but this place is not pram or wheelchair friendly (those darn victorians not thinking of the future!) Upstairs won't take too long so you can happily carry baby
