Experiencia fantástica: Absolutely fantastic, a huge collection of horse equipment and rider clothing back from ancient times to recent. Beautifully curated over several large rooms and galleries. It shows the horse in sport, in war, and its role in transport and industry prior to vehicles taking over. Some of the items inconceivable in this modern day, copper horse shoes for those horses employed in the explosives industry so they don't spark as an example. Also the dreadful equipment to strap carriage horses heads up to a fashionable position, as mentioned in Black Beauty by Anna Sewell, rendering the horses unable to effectively pull the victorian carriages. It's all here, the good and the not so good. As a side saddle rider I was in heaven being able to see such a great collection of side saddles from across the world, and history of the habits. Amazing resource, it should have national arts funding as this is a unique collection. Also above the fantastic Sally Mitchell gallery and in the delightful market town of Tuxford. Nothing not to like, make a day of the trip, plenty to see and do in and around this area.
Experiencia fantástica: What an utterly fantastic treasure trove of everything to do with horses and their history. I had no idea the collection was as extensive as it is. An absolute joy to visit.

Experiencia positiva: Small but fascinating place. Mainly concentrating on the tackle horses wear- saddles, bits, bridle etc. Well laid out. Well researched. Situated in the small delightful town of Tuxford.
Experiencia fantástica: What a large and lovely and well kept museum and best of all free ! Met lovely staff and it's surprisingly a huge space and with a huge collection of horse relation gear and photos! Just brilliant !
Experiencia fantástica: Fantastic place, very interesting. A great collection. We'll worth a visit.
Experiencia fantástica: What a wonderful place! There's so much to take in - from the horse gas masks to the antique Native Indian saddle. Don't be put off if you're not particularly horsey - the collection (across nine rooms and two long corridors) is as much about the history of humans and their relationship with horses, as it is about the animals themselves.
Experiencia fantástica: Free horse museum... Loads of informative displays.
Experiencia fantástica: i really enjoyed the different areas of the different saddles of the horses as well as the bits that go inside the horses mouth.
