Museo Oriel Science

Experiencia fantástica: Mi hijo de 8 años había visitado durante la semana con su escuela y le gustó tanto que quiso mostrarme el museo el fin de semana siguiente. Fue muy interesante, el personal fue muy servicial y explicó sobre qué trataba cada exhibición. También aprendimos sobre paneles solares de la Universidad de Swansea, lo que fue fascinante. Definitivamente lo recomendaría y volvería. A mi hijo de 8 años también le gustó mucho, a pesar de que había visto todo solo unos días antes. Diría que la comercialización/publicidad de lo que es Oriel Science podría necesitar mejoras, porque hasta que mi hijo fue, yo pasé por allí y asumí que era algo para estudiantes de la Universidad de Swansea y no necesariamente para el público.

Experiencia fantástica: Really great idea. Got me and my young family really engaged with science. The staff ( I assume are students of the uni) we're really friendly and helpful and my girls really took a lot away from it. Keep popping back as we were told the displays change regularly.

Experiencia positiva: At first it seemed a bit bare. But actually after speaking with the people there, it made you realise there was so much to do and see. There were experiments and activities for the kids (or adults) to do all free of charge. The helpers all knew how the reactions worked and why and were very good at explaining. There was a talk held in the Easter holidays with a large projector and slides and then an interactive part after where we could dissect king prawns and look at them under the microscope, look at other animals legs and wings (bee, dragonfly etc) under microscopes and see bugs in resin. There are lots of information boards. They said they're having a big revamp soon ready for the summer holidays which will have more interactive things. The current set up was built during the covid pandemic and so had to be built to be wiped and cleaned and less interactive. So I'll be back in the summer. Check out their website for talks that are on in the holidays and activities. The kids also did a bug hunt and are put into a raffle on completion.

Experiencia fantástica: Really good session on 'Stardust hunters' with Dr Roberts from Swansea University. Informative and interactive. Learnt a new word too - "Sphericules"
