Experiencia positiva: Lamentablemente, cerrado desde 2020, pero esto no es evidente ni aquí ni en el sitio web. Alguien estaba disponible en el número de teléfono indicado, por lo tanto, 3 estrellas.

Experiencia negativa: Terrible nosies from 8am every day by workers. This is really insane. Room is sweet but mattress is really low quality. There is no view at the sea side.

Experiencia fantástica: O Museu de Óptica de Madeira, apresenta a coleção de dispositivos relacionados à óptica adquiridos pelos proprietários nas suas viagens à volta do mundo nos últimos anos cinquenta. A coleção está organizada em 10 subcategorias, como câmeras fotográficas, câmeras de filme e projectores, binóculos e telescópios e objetos datados entre os séculos XVIII a XX. O Museu está localizado num antigo Edifício do século XIX classificado como de interesse histórico e arquitetonico, mantendo assim a maioria das características originais da sua fachada. Este edifício foi objeto de pequenas obras de restauração que visaram a requalificação da área circundante e do dito Museu. A coleção está disposta num espaço com uma área de 150 metros quadrados a qual engloba um pequeno jardim exterior onde os visitantes podem tomar uma xícara de chá ou tomar um café.

Com os mais variados elementos que compõem a panóplia das lentes, neste museu para além da grande simpatia com que somos recebidos, todo o enredo que compõe esta exposição tão bem organizada e bem detalhada, é sem dúvida uma mais valia para quem gosta de apreciar este tipo de itens. É um lugar para voltar a visitar brevemente, pois para além da exposição para que quem se interessa por filatelia, moedas, notas e postais, encontra a combinação prefeita para enriquecer as suas coleções! P.S.: Com tanta lente até ficamos a ver melhor!

Experiencia fantástica: A beautifully and carefully laid out museum in Funchal featuring a vast collection mainly consisting of cameras along with many binoculars, telescopes, and so on. Depending on your age this will either be a trip down memory lane or will open your eyes to a whole new (old) world of how photography used to be done. Once you've explored the camera, video camera, and binocular collection downstairs, head upstairs to see telescopes and photo developing equipment. There are also old films from Madeira projected onto the wall here, providing enormous historical interest - and comfy sofas to relax on while you watch! There's 20-30 minutes worth of viewing so a good chance to relax. Everything is clearly and informatively labelled in the exhibits. The museum is compact but has so much in it. You could do it in an hour but we happily spent two hours there. What really made it for us was the passion, enthusiasm, and friendliness of the owner/curator, who clearly had a real knowledge of the material. If you've any interest at all in optics this is definitely worth seeing.

Experiencia fantástica: Really nice new museum in the heart of the city. Don't juge it by its size, because it is very dense and interesting! Driven by a passionate team, the museum exposes all kind of optics-related device (film camera, telescope, movie recorders...). There is also a small shop at the entrance for anyone interested in finding and buying old camera. The museum may get bigger in the future, that will make it even better. Worth being seen!

Experiencia fantástica: Wurde durch Google auf dieses Privatmuseum aufmerksam gemacht. Die Aussagen der anderen Rezesenten kann ich bestätigen. Ein sehr engagierter junger Mann hat etwas Einmaliges geschaffen. Er ist mit seinen Ideen noch lange nicht fertig, was ich an seinen Computersimulationen sehen konnte. Durch die alten Postkarten und Bücher erfährt man auch einiges über die jüngere Historie von Madeira. Mein Fazit: Empfehlenswert.
