Experiencia fantástica: We came across this exhibit by accident during a 2-day visit to Vienna in July 2016. As a mediaevalist and singer, I found this crypt a welcome addition to the Hapsburg history which is so much of Vienna's tourism. A naive visitor would find less of interest. The presentation of the whole space was striking, with an entrance down the spiral stairways, and structural and historical details on the iPad guides. The associated display of mediaeval artifacts was an unexpected bonus for us. My main complaint would be that the lighting of the exhibits is not as friendly as it could be for viewing fine detail (we are mediaevalists, remember). If this sort of thing works for you, also see the Roemer Museum in Hoher Markt, not very far away, which has exhibits of the Roman fort which stood there in times past. St Virgils Chapel was a highlight of our visit to Vienna. Worth 5 euros entry to us - we paid more for less, elsewhere in Vienna.

Experiencia fantástica: Chapel of St. Virgil (Virgilkapelle) is finally open to the public since last December 2015. It used to be kept behind a large window for many many years but thankfully the restoration and the interpretation of the chapel is complete and now everybody can experience it from the chapel floor level. The audio guide is controlled on a tablet which shows photos, drawings etc. The museum is very informative and you can spend over an hour at this attraction. The entrance is fairly cheap and presently on the first Sunday of every month it is for free of charge.

Experiencia fantástica: Hier hetzt man oft aus der U-Bahn raus bzw. in die U-Bahn rein. Es lohnt sich aber definitiv ein kleiner Abstecher in die ausgegrabene Virgilkapelle in der U-Bahnstation. Eintritt kostet 5 EUR. Die Geschichte der Kapelle und auch z.T. Wiens wird hier jedoch multimedial sehr gut aufbereitet. Das Eintrittsgeld ist dieses Museum wert, auch wenn es aus der Kapelle mit Brunnen und einem Nebenraum mit Fundstücken und vielen Erläuterungen besteht. Das nächste Mal werde ich mir auf jedenfall mehr Zeit nehmen, um mich mit der Historie intensiver zu beschäftigen. Experiencia positiva: Alte Kapelle die im zuge des U- bahn baues entdeckt wurde unmittelbar neben der Stephanskirche Zugang über den Abgang zur U-Bahn mit tollen Ausstellungsstücken die ebenfalls Ausgegraben wurden.

Die meisten haben im hektischen Alltag keine Zeit, dem Hinweis zu folgen, aber es lohnt sich, die Reste der Kapelle zu besichtigen und in eine andere Welt zu tauchen. Es braucht nicht viel Zeit, aber die Stille und tolle Restaurierung lässt jeden ein paar Minuten länger verweilen. Ein kleines Museum mit kleinen Fundstücken und ein kurzes Video lassen einen in das mittelalterliche Wien eintauchen. Die Archäologen haben hervorragende Arbeit geleistet. Experiencia fantástica: Mit im Trubel der U-Bahn Station am Stephansplatz findet man hier einen sehr ruhigen und interessanten Platz. Kurz und sehr informativ aufbereitete Geschichte der Kapelle, am ersten Sonntag im Monat immer gratis.

Experiencia fantástica: Pour la trouver, il faut prendre le chemin du métro. Le tarif pour un adulte est de 5€ - Ipad audioguide inclus (anglais ou allemand seulement). Je vous conseille vivement de prendre l'audioguide si vous comprenez l'une des deux langues sinon la visite peut être courte et décevante. Une belle découverte, vraiment impressionnant !

Máří Magdaleny a vertikální šachta propojovala obě stavby.Kaple sv. Magdaleny byla v roce 1781 zničena požárem a nebyla již obnovena. V roce 1973 byla kaple znovuobjevena při stavbě vídeňského U-Bahnu. V blízkosti Stephansdomu je v dlažbě vyznačen půdorys podzemní Virgilkapelle. Experiencia fantástica: I positively like this place - it's an oasis of peace and quiet right in Vienna's busy centre - the exhibition about life in medieval Vienna is small, but exquisite, I'd definitely recommend it if you're interested in History. Also, I'm still fascinated by the fact that the impressions made by the formwork boards in 13th century (!) are still clearly visible (I was perfectly sure that it was modern concrete until I learned that this kind of technology was already used for mortar work 800 years ago).

Experiencia fantástica: Das Personal hat sich 10/5 verdient. In die Kapelle gibt es eine Wendeltreppe. Bei unseren Besuch konnte jemand nicht über die Treppe gehen. Es wurde extra für uns der Notausgang geöffnet um den Besuch zu ermöglichen. Danke dafür. Die Kapelle selbst ist über die U-Bahn Station Stephansplatz erreichbar und zählt zu den versteckten Geheimnissen Wiens. Warum? Besuchen und erfahren ... Das Personal hat sich 10/5 verdient. Experiencia fantástica: Unexpected well done museum at the metro station Stephansplatz at the center of Vienna. It costs 5€ including the audio guide in German and in English. The stuff at the entrance are very friendly and helpful. There is a little shop also where you can buy souvenirs from the museum and from the city. In the station there are a lot of food facilities.
