Experiencia fantástica: A great free, place for anime fans to track the history of Japanese animation. There are some English-speaking staff, and the translations of the museum placards are all perfect! It's a bit of a walk from two of the nearest stations, so prepare to hoof it if you don't want to take the bus there.

If you love animation and a bit of history then I reccomened coming here it is very small but so worth it, they have a pillar that famous illustrators sign and draw on, they have kasets that you cna listen to for free and an easy point and listen guide in multiple languages! They even have a fab little room where you can make and record your own miniature animation! Experiencia fantástica: If you are an anime fan and like to know/learn a little bit about tge behind the scenes of Japanese Animation, this place is well recommended! Especially for kids!! They or adultd will have the chance to do hand draw animation by themselves, computer animation, animation dubbing/voice over/sound effects, learning the history of Japanese animation and behind the scenes, reading manga, watching anime in the library or in a special screening that they have, etc. I'm surprise with the amount of interactive things you can do here. The staff can speak English very well and they have a English Audio Guide which was free! No entrance fee. Therefor this place was worth for those who are intersted or wants to learn more about Japanese animation.

Experiencia fantástica: A brief history of Japanese animation. This is an admission free museum with and multi language audioguide. Quite small but I still learned a few things about celuloid animation (The movie Jin Roh is used as an example). You can try dubbing, using the specialized furniture to make your own short anime (a few frames long) or enjoy watching short pieces of artsy animation. Great place !

Experiencia positiva: A cool place to visit if you're into animation, and it's free, too! The staff are very helpful! Activities are mostly for the kids to enjoy, but adults will learn lots as well. Please be advised that recording of videos are not allowed, and there are a few spots where photography is not allowed.

Experiencia positiva: *Opinion: Visit only if you're in the area.* The Suginami Animation Museum is two-floors in a building shared between the museum and a wedding venue. The building's exterior features a mural of Japanese animation which contributed to the significant spread of anime altogether. The museum's attractions include a thorough history of Japanese animation, a practical self-guided digital stenciling-and-sketching room, a small projection theater, and an extensive library of view-able animation on various forms of media, including VHS and DVD. Again, stop by if you're in the area. This was my only reason for visiting this part of Tokyo.

Experiencia fantástica: Smallish, but packed full of stuff any fan of anime would appreciate. A definite must if you have a strong interest in Japanese animation over the years and are fans of things such as GITS, Akira etc A massive plus is it's free. I would suggest talking a walk down

Experiencia fantástica: The place is suitable for anime lovers. It is not crowded during the weekdays. This makes you to learn more in details from those who works in the museum

Michael Rodrigues 8 years ago

Experiencia fantástica: If you're a fan of Japanese animation and comics (manga), this is definitely a must-see if you ever go to Tokyo. The museum lends you a set of an interactive smart pen and headphones that works like a guided tour through the 2 floors of visual and interactive pieces in exhibition that tell the story of Japanese animation since old times until present days, shows the working desks of famous animators and teach through interaction how to make an animation, creatively mixing pencil, paper, cards, projection and other media. Really worth it!
