🗣️ Museo de Arquitectura al Aire Libre de Edo-Tokio: Opiniones
Experiencia fantástica: Lovely museum with amazing buildings. It took two hours to check all buildings. Totally recommend
Experiencia fantástica: Enjoyable experience! The place is a little bit far from other tourism areas but it's very easy to get there. You can check at their website and they give you a step by step illustrated guideto get there. You can go inside the houses and take a lot of photos. (You can't touch) Get ready to take off your shoes most of the times so be prepared. If you have a little concern about the floor because some are open areas I recommend you put some socks and don't go barefoot. I spend 4 hours and and saw all the architecture. At the "shops architecture" you can only go little bit inside, like 1 meter, but in the other side you can go to the deep inside at the other "older architecture" I recommend you to start from the "oldest" and finish with "shops architecture", just because at the beginning you are going to need a lot of energy. Because it is a open museum you gonna walk a lot, to make it against the hot sun they lend you some umbrellas, you can bring yours too. The museum shop is little small but if you get hungry you can get some snacks at the museum's cafeteria. I was hoping to find the character of the museum designed by Hayao Miyazaki but i think they cannot sell it and make a profit of it ( that's what I thought). I really enjoy going there and I recommend you to go.
Experiencia fantástica: For a lover of architecture and history, it's a must visit. Spent about an hour getting there from Tokyo, 2.5 hours enjoying the museum, and another hour to back to my hotel. Worth the effort if you enjoy this type of activity. To me, one of the best things I did in my 2 weeks in Japan.
Experiencia fantástica: The staff were lovely and so helpful. Even pointing out small features many would have missed in the houses. This is a MUST SEE for any architecture fans. Its also a great day out for families with older kids. Lots to learn and you get to glimpse in to the past. The shopping street was the best part
Experiencia fantástica: Must see I'd you are interested in Meiji period Japan or architecture. Features an impressive array of of Japanese style and Western style fusion homes from the period of history following the opening of historic Japan to the Western world.
Experiencia fantástica: A quirky museum just outside of tokyo, only 15 minutes from Shinjuku Station. We had great look around and it was so interesting to see the different buildings from the past areas of tokyo. The shops were particularly interesting and highlighted the beauty in even everyday structures.
Experiencia fantástica: Very fascinating exhibition of Japanese architecture with a huge span of time. Some exhibits require removal of footwear to explore. Recommend wear socks, easy to remove footwear. They provide plastic bag for you to carry shoes in. If you're prepared...can bring your own.
Experiencia fantástica: Wow an amazing rather off-radar cultural experience on outskirts of Tokyo for any architecture or history enthusiast. Highly recommended and very inexpensive as well.
Experiencia fantástica: Great spot to see Sakura and play in the park! I love having picnics here! @alexandriaokayy
Experiencia fantástica: A beautiful way to see the way of life of the past century. Most of the houses are from the late 1800s and early 1900s. Enjoyed my time. The ticket is affordable. Loved it.
Experiencia fantástica: Interesting outdoor activity near koganei not far from Tokyo, representing the edo period lifestyle... you can enter all buildings and even have rest inside some of them
Experiencia positiva: Beautiful historical buildings next to a huge park. One gets a glimpse of what it was like to live in those houses during EDO period. 400¥ pays out for for one visits some sort of art objects. Let your imagination tell you what kind of stories are hidden within those beautifully made wooden walls. Also there is a nice cafe and udon place to rest.
Experiencia fantástica: Not very big in size but very impressive collection of buildings, can be easily viewed if you have 2-2,5 hours but recommend to reserve more. Very picturesque places, you can feel almost like brought back in time, or like on a movie set. Nice descriptions of buildings in English too. Not very crowded when visited in late afternoon Nov 2020.
Experiencia fantástica: The architecture during the Edo period is incredible! This open air museum lets you explore what life was like during this era. The current exposition is on Japanese bath houses but that is only a small part of one building. Go early and enjoy the park that the museum is located in. It’s a beautiful and big park - highly recommend!
Experiencia fantástica: What a cool place. If you like history and/or architecture, this is an amazing and cheap place. 400 yen entrance and ~500 yen parking. This isn't just about the architecture either, each of the buildings has an individual history and you can go inside all of them. The staff is delightful, helpful, educated and most speak English.
Experiencia fantástica: I loved the idea of getting inside the houses, and also liked all the models displayed. The Museum was really nice and interesting ,, just know that if you are planing to go that you will be needing more than 3 hours there.
Experiencia fantástica: Beautiful buildings and architecture! The entrance fee is only ¥400 per adult. I definitely recommend a visit here as they have such a wide variety of architecture from around Japan. The history is fascinating as well and many of the guides speak good English. They will tell you all about the homes or old business buildings and history behind them. Some also have a few artifacts and furniture as well. You will park at the adjacent park and walk through the park to the museum. They also have a section dedicated to artifacts as well inside the main hall.
Experiencia fantástica: Open air museum which is very nice and great museum you could take your children to visit and good for museum lover to learn the history of Japan. Coming in winter would be nice and more beautiful. You will be able to walk through without sweating. Entrance fee is 400¥ which is pretty cheap and worth to pay.
Experiencia fantástica: A beautifully designed area! There are buildings with a lot of history, very interesting! Some of the stuff can speak a little English and they try to explain the buildings with great enthusiasm. You can go inside almost every room, the garden around is very pretty as well. The entrance fee is absolutely worth it.
Experiencia fantástica: Best place to feel the old Tokyo. It has traditional houses and even public bath. Quite far from Shinjuku. Worth to visit for history lovers. Note that you have to walk quite far from nearest bus station, about hundreds of metres because it surrounded with a very large garden. Far from nearest train station
Experiencia fantástica: Wonderful day out for a pittance of 400 Yen per adult. Well laid out, knowledgeable staff, information in English, tranquil grounds. Just so happened to time our visit with their Downtown Summer Breeze event; street food, dancing, crafts etc. Perfect. Thank you.
Experiencia fantástica: Very beautiful place with exciting attractions especially for people who love traditional style Japanese architecture and culture. The place is a 10 minute stroll away from the bus stop but you have to research clearly where to drop off. The signs in the park leading to the museum are quite clearly labelled.
Experiencia fantástica: Great edo buildings in Tokyo. It is inside the park. There are old classic japanese buildings/houses to western buildings that were made during the edo era such as houses, flowershop, onsen, etc These are all for display. They also have a a real cafe inside a classic westernized building that you can relax in. There are sometimes some special events like the illumination night during the autumn season, so you might want to check their website page before. Staff can speak English very well and they are super friendly. If you are around the area, and didnt have the chance to see classic old buildings outside Tokyo, this place is worth the visit. It is not too big, and they also have wheelchair access to go inside the buildings (soms western building even have elevator for wheelchair access).
Experiencia fantástica: Highly recommended if you want to get away from the most touristy places. Bring slip on shoes, you'll be taking them on/off the entire time. Be sure to check out the photography building. They will take your photo for free in an old studio setting. Getting there can be a bit challenging if you're not familiar with buses but the walk to the museum is really nice and peaceful.
Experiencia fantástica: This is basically an amazing spot for literally anything. There is a museum that you can pay for and enjoy old buildings. Then there is the park outside that is just huge. It is used for viewing the cherry blossom and playing with snow in the winter. During the summer time, it’s just a great place to hang out in the evening seriously! You can ride your bike, go jogging or play soccer. Whatever your fancy is. The parking is a bit expensive however. Also, I do recommend car or bicycle when coming here. It’s a large park and walking with take the whole day to see every thing. This basically an all round park. You can’t regret coming here.
Experiencia fantástica: I’m not usually into architecture but this place was cool! It was fascinating to see all types of Japanese architecture over the years. The old prime ministers residence is here as well!
Experiencia fantástica: Visiting this open air museum was a great experience! In these museum you can see evolution of Japan''s architecture along the centuries as well as some famous houses from historical characters. Unfortunately I went there with tight time so I couldn't stay long enough to take long time and visit it with the calm it deserves. I'm pretty sure I will return in my next trip to my beloved Japan. So impressed and pleased. Thank you!
Experiencia fantástica: Edo-Tokyo Open-Air Architectural Museum features around 30 reconstructed buildings, many dating to the Meiji Period, relocated from around Tokyo. Ranging from rustic farms, traditional homes, and bathhouses to elegant Western-inspired houses, offices, and shops, the museum (affiliated with the Edo-Tokyo Museum) is set in a beautiful wooded park in Musashi Koganei, about a 2-hour train ride from Yokosuka. The museum is divided into three areas. The West Zone includes a photo studio, farmhouse, architect’s office, and several elegant Western-inspired private homes (one, the Georg de LaLande house, houses a quaint European-style café with desserts, drinks, and curry). The Center Zone features the striking Jisho-in Mausoleum, House of Korekiyo Takahashi, Second House of the Nishikawa Family, and the Tea Arbor Kaisuian, while the East Zone holds some of the most unique architecture including the beautiful copper-tiled Maruni Shoten kitchenware store, Kawano Shoten oil-paper umbrella wholesale store, and the public bathhouse Kodakara-yu. Several buildings at the museum, most notably the bathhouse, are said to have inspired animator Hayao Miyazaki as he was creating his Academy Award-winning “Spirited Away.” Miyazaki-san also designed the museum’s mascot Edomaru, a cuddly green caterpillar that appears around the museum as well as on merchandise available in the museum gift shop. The museum hosts regular monthly events and seasonal ones such as nighttime illumination for Bon Odori and fall colors. I was extremely impressed at the level of English support, including roaming English-speaking volunteer guides and the fact that every building had a detailed sheet with the building’s history and information translated into English.
Experiencia fantástica: The name says it all. An outdoor 'museum' comprising various examples of old and contemporary architecture. A lovely stroll amid greenery and chances to step back in time. Stop for a bite or a drink at the eatery inside a beautiful European-influenced house.
Experiencia fantástica: It almost feels like being back in the Edo era! We really appreciate how well the buildings are preserved and it was a great experience getting to know more about how buildings were traditionally built and constructed in the past. So glad we got to visit the Edo-Tokyo Open Air Architectural Museum!
Experiencia fantástica: Very good place to spend a day outdoor and discover ancient or modern pieces of architecture. Everything is not typical Japanese, but the Western style houses are very interesting to visit as well. An occasion to see what a traditionnal "sento" or an ancient farmer's house look like inside. Better choose a day when the weather is not too bad. From close stations, it's a little walk, but there are some buses you can ride.
