Experiencia fantástica: Amazing and intimate museum of Kusama’s work. Highly recommend if you’re visiting Japan.

Experiencia fantástica: A small art gallery but full of joy. Ms. Kusama is an iconic artist who has made so many remarkable art pieces and I always think about her when I see dots and pumpkins in my life.

Experiencia fantástica: Missed the exhibition in Berlin during pandemic. Finally visited her museum in Tokyo.

Experiencia fantástica: Although exhibits are limited and time is also limited, I thoroughly enjoyed my visit. It was worth every Yen. Travelling from floor to floor in the elevator meant an exciting moment each time the door opened to show more exhibits. Kusama’s work is challenging and exciting. I’m so glad I went.

Experiencia fantástica: Visiting the Yayoi Kusama Museum in Tokyo was a truly unforgettable experience. The museum, which is dedicated to the work of the renowned Japanese artist Yayoi Kusama, is located in the heart of Shinjuku and is a must-see for art lovers. One of the most striking things about the museum is the way it combines technology with art and science in presenting Kusama's work. Throughout the museum, visitors are treated to a variety of interactive exhibits that allow them to experience Kusama's art in new and exciting ways. For example, in one room, visitors can step inside a mirrored chamber and be surrounded by a mesmerizing display of lights and colors, while in another room, they can use a virtual reality headset to explore a digital version of one of Kusama's famous Infinity Rooms. One of the highlight in the museum was the "Love Forever" installation, an immersive experience with mirrors and lights, creating an infinite and hypnotic visual. The installation was an exploration of the idea of infinity, and it was truly breathtaking to experience. In conclusion, visiting the Yayoi Kusama Museum is a must-see for anyone interested in contemporary art, as it provides an immersive and interactive experience that is both thought-provoking and visually stunning. It is a testament to the artist's ability to combine technology with art and science to create truly mesmerizing and unforgettable works of art.

Experiencia fantástica: You must make reservation ahead! It is getting very popular, so you can't just drop in anymore. I had to sign up for my visit a month ahead. They said they change the exhibits 1-2 times per year. So you can experience something different every year. There are souvenirs that you can only buy there too but I thought the selections were very small...

Experiencia positiva: This was a fun experience, but I would’ve liked to be able to see more exhibits. It is a fairly small building with five levels, and a great view on the top level make sure to buy tickets in advance because when we showed up there were no other tickets available if you didn’t pre-order. They have a website and it is very easy to make a ticket purchase.

Experiencia positiva: If you’re a huge fan of Yayoi, you’ll probably get a lot out of this space. I myself am not a huge fan, so I found the small space a little lacklustre. There are a few really cool installations, but the entire museum maybe has 45 minutes worth of things to see. Additionally, there are a few rooms where your time is limited. I’d probably only recommend a visit if you’ve got a lot of time in Tokyo.

Experiencia fantástica: Had a great time at the Yayoi Kusama museum. They regularly change the special exhibits as well as the pieces that are on the floor of the museum. There is a small gift shop where you can buy exhibit books from the past, handkerchiefs, polka dot squash, scarf, and small money purse.

Experiencia fantástica: Note: you need to book ticket online or come with some strory about fail credit card payment like me. Best place to learn about Yayoi kusama in Tokyo. Ticket price is cheap compare to other museum.

Experiencia fantástica: Wonderful healing spot with the great artist. It is not a big museum but there are lots of masterpieces of Kusama Yayoi. Love this place.

Experiencia positiva: The museum is aways changing its art pieces and rotates a lot through works of the artist. It’s very well taken care of, and the way it’s disposed it allows you to live the immersion rooms by yourself. The gift shop as well changes from time to time leaving the space really focused on her artwork. However, the museum is REALLY small and seeing everything( properly, taking my time) took around 17minutes, I’d recommend if you can get the tickets a day or two before but waiting three months for it… it was underwhelming, and very different from what I was expecting. Again, expectations are personal but it’s just really small and u derwgelming given the expectation built around all the ticket waiting time, lines etc etc

Experiencia fantástica: One of the best modern art museums I have seen and it's a great place for foreigners to understand some of the aesthetic of Japanese art. It's not got a huge volume of work but it's created in such a way that leaves you wanting more. I'd recommend to everyone but especially those westerners visiting Tokyo who are art lovers.

Experiencia fantástica: Great collection. Small but impacting. Must buy the ticket online in advanc

Experiencia fantástica: Wonderful museum. Take your time; it's a very small museum rewarding patient observation and a careful eye. Kusama's colors are concrete divinity.

Experiencia fantástica: I'm a BIG fan of Yayoi and this doesn't disappoint. The museum is pretty small so you only get a glimpse into Yayoi's collection and some of the floors are updated every few months. I love the rooftop, the view is stunning and it's so nice to have the outdoor aspect in the architecture. Make sure you book in advance - they go on sale on the 1st day of the month for the folding month. It's not expensive (1000 JPY) and you get 90 minutes to spend there, you probably only need 45.

Experiencia fantástica: Great museum where you'll get a glimpse into Yayoi Kusama's world. The building itself fits perfectly with Kusama's style - a great attention to details, you'll explore tiny "dot" spaces filled with the artist's souls.

Experiencia fantástica: Great museum if you like this artist. My daughter introduced me to her. Museum is a bit small but the works are nice.

Experiencia fantástica: A must see if you are passionate about contemporary art. You should reserve in advance your visit as the access is limited. It is a bit pricey for Tokyo standards, but definitely a nice experience with thoughtful curation. Works are well exposed, and well represent Kusama's art in her own perspective. The roof deck with Kusama's dotted silver pumpkin framed by the blu sky is beautiful. The temporary installation we saw was stunning.

Experiencia fantástica: I have to say that this is the first gallery I've been to where I felt genuine excitement and as an artist myself, this place blew me away! Viewing her early work and seeing it develop over time as you walk around the spaces was wonderful, and although this place isn't huge, the satisfaction of seeing her work in a building she herself has dedicated to it, was so worth it! Will definately visit this place again when I come back to Tokyo!!! Also, the view from the roof was awesome too ✌

Experiencia fantástica: This museum is a remarkable place. However, due to limited space, your experience will largely depend on the ongoing exhibition (a thing that can easily be checked on their website).

Experiencia fantástica: Amazing art work in small gallery over 5 floors. Buying tickets early and having a limited number of visitors was a great way to see her gallery.

Tiphaine M M 6 years ago

Experiencia fantástica: This is by reservation only, so make sure you book in advance. Although the museum is fairly small, it is wonderful. I don’t think it takes more than 40 minutes to take in, however on the top floor is a collection of books relating to Kusama, which you are free to peruse; so you could stay longer. I understand that they rotate the collections on display. In any case, I thought it was a wonderful museum! The gift shop also has some items created especially for the museum.

Experiencia fantástica: If you are a fan of Kusama's work, then I think visiting the museum is a must. Be sure to get your ticket online ahead of time. Although you are only allowed a 90 minutes stay at the museum, my husband and I only spent about half an hour touring the museum as it is not very big. Don't forget to use their restroom on the first floor, as it features her signature polka dots on mirror.

Experiencia fantástica: Pumpkins and spots. Small, but limited numbers mean it isn’t crowded. Make sure to use the toilet too.

Marta Morao 6 years ago

Experiencia fantástica: Beautiful minimalist building, they only allow a limited number of people every hour so you get a better experience without the crowds. The pumpkins sculptures are incredible.

Ruby Huang 6 years ago

Experiencia fantástica: The museum might be on a small side, but with limited visitors per section, it does not feel crowed at all. The art works of Yayoi is so powerful, we enjoy so much on her early works of plants and I, being able to look at her works so closely is such a great experience.

Christina Lopp 6 years ago

Experiencia fantástica: Small but wonderful museum. Need tickets in advance. Notice the round building with no corners.

Rosalind De Sailly 6 years ago

Experiencia fantástica: The museum exhibits regularly changing exhibitions that present a small selection of works. While small, it provides quite an expansive perspective on the artist's vision, expression and ideas across her career. The spaces are very well designed to experience a range of art forms and includes a small but fascinating reading library. Don't miss checking out the toilets! Follow the instructions of the helpful staff on how to best use and share the gallery with other visitors. The museum requires forward planning as the time- limited tickets tend to sell quickly and it's a bit out of the way. Definitely worth it if you are fascinated or intrigued by the work of Yayoi Kusama.

Experiencia fantástica: One of my wish list has finally came true! Her masterpiece are fantastic. I wasn’t surprised the building has very small size because this is Tokyo. However, what surprise me is they only show a few pieces of the artist. Assume that they gonna keep changing the collection yearly.

Experiencia fantástica: This brand new small museum is a pearl in the middle of remote Bunkyo area. Nice building and great exposition. You have to book two months in advance on internet. It takes half to an hour to visit. Also kids can enjoy this colourful museum.

Experiencia fantástica: I adore Yayoi Kusama and loved my experience at the museum! There were an array of works over multiple floors and various time periods and art mediums from Kusama's career. You are permitted to go back to the floors you've already seen which enabled us to look more calmly after the initial mad rush of people had come and gone. We even managed to go into the infinity room twice, although I do wish there had been more than just one, as the previous exhibit I'd been to had multiple infinity rooms. Some people were clearly there for the selfies and I was initially anxious about this as there were some groups being quite disrespectful and obnoxious and even leaning on the art which clearly should not have been touched. Thankfully, most of them were gone within forty minutes or so allowing the art lovers to soak it all in in peace. I found the entrance fee to be extremely reasonable and you are permitted to stay for about 90 minutes. The only very minor disappointment was that there were not more options in the gift shop and there were no t-shirts (the staff had some great ones but they weren't for sale) or canvas bags that one normally finds when "exiting through the gift shop". I came prepared to bring home a concrete memento of my visit but it was not to be. I have some great memories though, so I can't complain!
