🗣️ Museo Sumida Hokusai: Opiniones
Experiencia fantástica: Tinny yet quite impressive museum for the artis who created the famous "waves" work. I went there and spent 1 hour catching all details.
Experiencia fantástica: Fabulous museum showing the unique work of Hokusai Take your time and explore every bit of the drawings There are copies of sketch books available to dip into, amazing experienc
Experiencia fantástica: To visit this museum you need to go checkout the katsushika hokusai because its the most famous here, they have also a lot of touch screens which you can use to translate the Japanese to English or any other languages. very helpful and informative.
Experiencia fantástica: Best to buy the full ticket including access to the special exhibition - 1000 yen is well worth it. I spent 2.5 hours here (nonstop), including one whole hour in the “permanent exhibition room plus” with the long painting of the river banks and sketch books… The content is actually rich as long as you make good use of the information provided.
Experiencia fantástica: Really remarkable space, so many iconic works (during special exhibition time). Feel honoured to see them all. Shop is also excellent!
Experiencia fantástica: The Architecture is stunning and interior is also related that the visitors can enjoy the exhibition without interuption from the public playground outside. The exhibition itself is also interesting that it shows how the printed-picture is from the original. You can also available to see the other sketches and Sumida's artwork.
Experiencia fantástica: A place for Hokusai FC, the museum is located at Sumida City, closed to Ryogoku Station. The building of the museum looks modern with some storytelling. They features permanent exhibition, that you can learn about the life and work of Hokusai, and the the special exhibition, which was under the bird theme during the time of our arrival. The collections are quite limited, and most of them are replicas ( probably all of them). It is not allowed to take pictures in the exhibition areas. By the way, there is a museum shop that you can buy a real handcraft woodblock prints, which serves as an impressive souvenir.
Experiencia fantástica: Small, but incredible. If you are an artist or interested in art, you would spend hours at this museum. Hokusai is just astounding w his skills! He observed and painted all these details w brushes when there was no photography or digital software. Just amazing.
Experiencia fantástica: Very interesting experience... everything was perfect. Stromgly adviced
Experiencia fantástica: If you’re a fan of Katsushika Hokusai in particular or Ukiyoe art form generally, you will absolutely cherish your time inside this relatively new museum of art. This museum first opened in Tokyo’s Sumida District in November 2016, so the both building and the surrounding facilities are in spectacular condition. As Hokusai was both born and raised in Sumida-ku, there’s a tremendous level of local pride in his celebrity. You fell that sense of pride in the dedication of the museum staff, who seem to derive a great deal of pleasure introducing you to the works of their local hero. The museum can get pretty crowded in the afternoons, so I recommend visiting in the morning, perhaps before enjoying a river cruise from the nearby terminal.
Experiencia fantástica: The current exhibition, ‘Hokusai at play with 100 Poems’ is beautifully curated and is enhanced by detailed research on the significance of the poems as a literary canon, the various poets and writers and Hokusai’s interpretations. The display cards are in English and Japanese. The museum as a whole seems small but if you want to do a deep dive into the life and work of Hokusai you could easily spend a couple of hours here. For me, it was a rewarding visit in a beautiful, simple building designed by SANAA, and a tribute to an important cultural asset.
Experiencia fantástica: Like others have mentioned it’s not a big museum but you would def have more than enough to see if you go through everything of their permanent exhibit in details and use the interactive touch panel. Main piece at the current special exhibit is a replica but I think it’s still a good exhibit with the interesting story behind it.
Experiencia positiva: Small museum but items well displayed, nice small shop and unusually building design which provides some views of Sky Tree. Interior of building light and airy which also provides a calm atmosphere. Only giving this 4/5 stars because price felt a little high given the size and number of items on display. Other than that feel it is well worth a visit and an easy walk from Ryogoku Station
Experiencia fantástica: Great museum worth the entry fee. Definitely note the two different fees it's about 1000 yen for the full exhibit and 400 yen for the permanent exhibit. It's a good 1hrs worth of time at a casual pace reading through the details. You can speed through too if you want. See if you can catch Hokusai move in the exhibit They have a gift shop that shows alot of his work. It can get a little expensive but some of the materials can be a nice gift for any fan of the art.
Experiencia fantástica: Came to see arts of Hokusai. Was not disappointed even if a lot of the art weren't present, or were replicas. Main positive was that there was lot of English notes and English interactive displays. There's also a replica of a room with life-like statues of Hokusai and his daughter Oi.
Experiencia fantástica: Excellent museum and a beautiful building. I leaned a lot about this important Japanese artist in the permanent exhibition. Nursing mothers take note: there are two private nursing rooms in the basement. It is a 15 minute walk from the subway.
Experiencia fantástica: Excellent exhibition with good English descriptions for the usual exhibits. Don't forget to visit the library as well. Very friendly English speaking staff at the library who could help you photocopy photos you like for a nominal fee - a much cheaper alternative than buying colour prints.
Experiencia fantástica: Great little museum due to the building's design and the dedication to the Ukiyo-e artist Katsushika Hokusai. If you enjoy this type of art you should also visit Ota Memorial Museum of Art in Omotesand
Experiencia fantástica: The Sumida Hokusai Museum (すみだ北斎美術館, Sumida Hokusai Bijutsukan) is a museum dedicated to the ukiyo-e artist Katsushika Hokusai, commonly referred to as Hokusai. The four-story museum was designed by Pritzker Architecture Prize winner Sejima Kazuya, one half of the architecture firm SANAA. The concept behind the interesting architecture was for the museum to be approachable to everyone and from all sides, resulting in walkways that bisect the building on ground level and lead to the museum entrance in the center. Experiencia fantástica: Really well designed museum. Great architecture by itself, photographic everywhere. The Hokusai introduction is very comprehensive, easy to understand, and incorporates a lot of modern photos of where he lived and what is happening in the world and in Japan that may have influenced his work. It is extremely interesting for beginners into the Hokusai world. The basic zone entry is only 400yen and with special exhibition (his more rare work) is 1200yen. For first-timer just basic ticket is plenty to see for about 1.5-2.0 hours. Photos allowed except for those explicitly marked otherwise.
Experiencia fantástica: Beautiful museum, beautiful building. The museum walks you through Hokusai’s life and different art projects. Each display centers on a period of Hokusai’s life (70-95 years-old, for example) and gives info on the art style used during that time and different influences, including schools of art, groups of artists. Each area is accompanied by electronic displays you can look through different prints and zoom in using hand gestures. The museum is rather small, so don’t expect much volume. Take your time and go through things slowly and you’ll have a good experience.
