Experiencia fantástica: Great library about manga history. Must see for manga lover. Staff issuper friendly. You can read some of the vintage mangas.
Experiencia fantástica: Beautiful gallery. When I visited it, the exhibition was on Murakami Motoka, whom I then discovered. Even though I'm not a big reader of manga, I really liked it.
Experiencia fantástica: Translation of the description: "Japan's first comprehensive manga museum (nickname: MM)" This museum is a joint project of Kyoto City and Kyoto Seika University, and presents (=opens) to the public the results of survey research that is now being promoted around the world in the form of exhibitions, seminars, and workshops. It is the one that left the appearance of the time. It is also a statement that we will take over the role of the elementary school, which has long been a symbol of the community. Collecting, storing, and publishing manga materials that are attracting attention from Survey research on moth culture, based on these materials and survey research The purpose is to conduct business such as exhibitions and events based on This museum has a museum function and a library function. It is a new cultural facility that has both. The manga materials preserved at the museum range from caricature ukiyoe prints from the Edo period Approximately 300,000 items, including magazines from the Meiji, Taisho, and early Showa eras, rental books after the war, current popular works, and overseas works. Based on these materials The building utilizes the former Tatsuike Elementary School building built in the early Showa period. ▲
Experiencia fantástica: they have a lot of manga in English and other languages, and ofc the biggest collection is in Japanese. There are a bunch of sitting areas to read the manga and a manga artist who can draw a portrait of you
Experiencia fantástica: Great for a rainy day truly.imprwssive display ofanga up to ceilings in main exhibition ordered by year.of release. Learned slot about manga here and has a good cafe next door.
Experiencia fantástica: This place is amazing, you can learn a lot about the history of manga as well as read a lot of them (most of them are in Japanese be careful). You can buy some in different languages (french, German, ...) A place you really need to visit if you are in Kyot
Experiencia fantástica: A wonderful time learning the history of mangas. They have a multitude of mangas available to borrow within their facilities to read, mostly in Japanese, but there were sections with other languages including English. Easily spent a couple hours just sitting and reading a manga while appreciating the art form more in this facility.
Experiencia fantástica: Nearly did not visit, because of some bad reviews. But it was one of the most unique experiences Just so cool to see how all kinds of people in Japan enjoy manga. The available sections in different languages are not big, true, but still very interesting for a visit
Experiencia fantástica: It's actually a library with thousands of comics and Mangas! You can read your favorite manga inside or outside when the weather permits.
Experiencia fantástica: This was great. If you're an anime fan it's worth a visit to see some of the manga. Also I was able to see a live show for a traditional Japanese story telling method. Also purchased an English version of a manga.
Experiencia fantástica: Huge collection of manga with details of manga history. 3 floors. There's section for souvenirs/shop. Lockers are available to store personal items.
Experiencia positiva: Immense variety of Manga books! You can read them all but it was too busy so no more place to sit down. There is also a cool shop that you can enter without paying for the museum itself!
Experiencia positiva: Targetted at japanese readers for sure. Its basically a library. If not planning to stay and read from the limited alternate languages collection then id skip it
Experiencia fantástica: Good place of manga mania. I can stay here all days. Belove of rare manga and many old work here. worth to come here I you love manga. love it ♥
Experiencia fantástica: All about manga, if you manga love, you must come. They have souvenir about mange as well and the price not expensive. You can read manga series what ever you like over there, in the park outside. Chill and enjoy!
Experiencia fantástica: If your a manga fan this is a must stop. I couldn't take photos of the vast collection of manga comic books but trust me there is lots. The best thing is tou can read them. There are loads of people including alot of kids sitting quietly doing just that. Foreign manga which includes English versions are just past the check in counter. Theres also a decent gift store. Prices are a little steep though.
Experiencia fantástica: Really interesting museum full of information on the medium as well history of various other kinds of animation. Extensive library full of manga available to read, including limited selections in other languages. English descriptions on most exhibits.
Experiencia fantástica: A Must to go place if you are a fan of Manga or Anime. Filled with manga history and a lot of "manga" in various languages, it truly a heaven for Otakus. They hold portrait sessions which take 20 minutes long and cost 1500 yen. Average stay here is around 30 minutes to a few hours.
Experiencia fantástica: What a cool experience! They have a lot of Manga in different languages, too. It's crazy to see how old some of the Manga are and when it all started. We had a guide explaining the history and the influence for caricature (from French artists) and how the style evolved over the the years. Many statistics are kept over sold volumes, volumes in circulation, most favorite ones, etc. I wouldn't have anticipated that that the 16th (if I remember correctly) volume of the original Nanatsu no Taizai (7 deadly sins) is in the top 10 favorite Manga books measured through books in circulation /sold volumes. The gift shop sells "first volumes" of old series in English! That's kinda amazing. Also fan articles of all sorts. Would go again.
Experiencia fantástica: Best collection there is for manga. They even have small performances of all Japanese entertainment. But I'd say to get the most out of the 800 yen entry is to hang around and look through some manga, not just walk through. Also has some good history about what the old school use to be. This place is a must see.
Experiencia fantástica: It's too bad that we can't take photos inside. But it is amazing to see how passionate Japanese are in this industry. This is not only a museum but like a library for research, where they archive and store mangas event from the early 40s, 50s. Just that you can't borrow the books out. At times they will also have artists working from a little station with wacoms and Photoshop. They will also have activities and workshops sometimes. My kids enjoy running at the field with the artificial grass. What comes to mind, because this used to be a school, it really does look like that schools you see in mangas and animes. Kind of amazes me a bit.
