Experiencia fantástica: What an experience. The beautiful concrete architecture is splendid, integrating itself wonderfully with the landscape. Every museum is interesting. As for the hotel - if you can afford it - what more can you ask for ? Everything is incredible and you're treated like a king or queen. Stayed in Beach, with the perfect view of the see and of Takamatsu on the other side. My only regret : no photos allowed inside.

Experiencia fantástica: If you have the chance to rest at Benesse hotel you will experience a solo night tour at the Museum and to sleep for example below a Christo sketch in you room ... The restaurant location is unique, the menu should be at the same level.

Experiencia fantástica: Amazing place to visit and stay (great view from the room). The island (Naoshima) is beautiful. Very peaceful and tranquil. Interesting art works everywhere. Great dinner at the French restaurant at besnesse house.

Experiencia fantástica: Yes, it is a highlight in Naoshima and yes, you must visit it. Unlike the Chichu museum, where you need to buy tickets in advance (something we didn’t do), you can get the tickets at the spot here and you’d still not see too many people around. Don’t expect a Louvre-sized gallery, but most of them are interesting or at least interactive. The building itself is also worth looking at. I’d recommend checking in advance the free-shuttle itineraries because walking around the Benesse complex in the hot summer sun is not pleasant at all.

Experiencia fantástica: Review of the museum only: It's quite entertaining to read other people's reviews. It really comes down to people's expectations and their opinion of art, right? Well, I don't necessarily consider myself an artsy person and we didn't have many expectations for this place - we enjoyed it. We visited for a day - a really really hot day - so it was nice to be inside for a bit. The walk up was pretty brutal. It's certainly a modern museum with some of the pieces being quite different. It was entertaining and sometimes thought-provoking. The location is very beautiful. There are also structures/art outside which I found super cool.

Experiencia fantástica: Didn't stay at the hotel here, only came for the museum, which was well worth the 1500 yen or so for the tickets considering what you sometimes pay in Japan for similar galleries. If you're walking in this area, also check out the Lee Ufan and Valley galleries. The Lee Ufan museum has a couple of outdoor exhibits that are free of charge to stroll around.

Experiencia positiva: A solid modern art museum in a beautiful setting. It has a good range of works by Asian, European and American artists, some very interesting. The price is fair and the staff are friendly. If you must choose, pick this one and skip the Chichu - don’t let the Lonely Planet fool you!

Experiencia positiva: A cool museum to visit on Naoshima. We had a nice time visiting on a sunny day - there are a few exhibits inside which are nice but considering the price, we thought it was a bit expensive for what it offered. The architecture of the building was great as well and has great views of the coast so would recommend going on a clear day. Tickets were around 1300 Yen each but also included free entry into the Valley exhibition - we didn't manage to go because it closed at 3:30pm so try and time it so you can see both (the valley is about 10 mins walk away from Benesse) To note, the Oval is only available to hotel guests and can't be seen by non guests

Experiencia fantástica: This place is magical, a must visit if you love art, nature and architecture. You are surrounded by art that is carefully curated and put together. It's such a unique experience to be able to stay in the museum and wander around after the museum is closed to the public.

Experiencia fantástica: Just visited the Museum, not including the hotel. Overall, it was good! Relaxing! Imagine you're inside the museum on the small island! Even I'm not an artist, I found that the art there is understandable and I found it was great! You can take the bus from the port, and then change bus from certain terminal (I forgot the name of the terminal, you can ask the locals or guide there).

Experiencia fantástica: The Benesse House had one of the better ticket prices on the island and it was worth it. There were some interesting displays and the flow of the rooms allowed for uncrowded viewing of the exhibits. Without giving anything away, the Benesse House had some interesting tie ins to other spots on the island. Very creative!

The view from the building is beautiful. Be sure to visit the open air exhibits on the way to the museum, although there is always a line to take a picture with the pumpkin

Experiencia fantástica: Breathtaking and peaceful place. Highly recommend staying at the hotel as well if you have the chance. If you stay at the hotel you will also have access to the gallery after hours.

Experiencia fantástica: The house and grounds are so magical. Came on a Monday in February (off season) when most of the other attractions were closed. It felt like we had the whole place to ourselves! What a serene and intimate art retreat. Being able to see the exhibits at night (museum staying guest privilege) was unique and the rooms were comfortable with wonderful views.

Experiencia fantástica: Phenomenal site. If possible, stay at one of the venue's accommodations - the rooms are beautiful and the setting is incredible. There's art throughout the grounds and a fascinating gallery as well. Food options are excellent: traditional Japanese Kaiseki available at Issen, and the buffet breakfast offers a bevy of great Western-style options.

Experiencia fantástica: We stayed in a suite at the Oval for 2 nights and were blown. away. Absolutely stunning room with crazy views of the sea/islands and Yayoi's yellow pumpkin :) Definitely make sure you get the breakfast buffet voucher for $20 and make sure you go to Chichu!

Experiencia fantástica: An astonishing blend of Architechture, Museum and hotel. The building and art feel perfectly integrated together and are thoroughly fascinating, and late night viewing for guests of the hotel only is a special treat. The French food at the nearby benesse Park is also top notch, although expensive! An absolute must for anyone coming to naoshima.

Experiencia fantástica: Benesse House is a museum designed by Tadao Ando, it is located at the hill top in the southern part of the island. It exhibits works from various well known contemporary artists like Alberto Giacometti, Sam Francis, Yukinori Yanagi, Yasuo Kuniyoshi, Yayoi Kusama, Louis Nevelson, Robert Raushemberg, etc. Photos not allowed

Experiencia fantástica: Benesse House and Naoshima as a whole is magical. I had the good fortunate to stay at Benesse House Museum, which is fantastic, especially walking around the museum at night, but even if only staying at a hotel Naoshima is a must. Absolutely beautiful.

Experiencia fantástica: Benesse House is one of the most beautiful museums, I've ever visited. You can't take pictures inside, you just have to trust me on that. It takes a true master (like Tadao Ando) to create something so minimalistic and yet perfect. When inside, no matter where you look, you find symmetry and harmony.

Experiencia fantástica: International modern art displayed in a beautiful island setting. A number of important artists, including Monet and Warhol. Also excellent Japanese art, including Yayoi Kusama. High standard accommodation available on site.

Experiencia fantástica: For guests who is staying at Benesse House can have the day pass for admission and privilege for late come-ins. It is cool to go to a museum at night and even the hotel that you are staying. It made you feel somehow you are a part of the art? I personally like the “LIVE and DIE” project a lot, I sat there for quite a long time to see all of the neon lights.

Experiencia fantástica: Part of the phenomenal, multi site Benesse experience on Naoshima, this museum contains a broad range of modern and contemporary art as well as an excellent cafe and an exceptional Japanese restaurant. The museum has several outdoor spaces to appreciate the views across the forest and sea. Look out for surprising sculptures. A short stroll from Benesse Park and Beach accommodation if you are lucky enough to be staying. Also accessible by the island bus.

Experiencia fantástica: I stay this hotel just one night that I could give you limited information. The season is mid February, chilly and windy day. Strolling around the town you could find variation works of art which are very cute and would stimulate your inspiration. The room which we stay was in museum building available for enjoying through all time of your stay. The room is appropriate for the price of this level of hotel. Every single staff is very kind and professional. The most impressive event is meeting a driver staff coming from hotel to pick us up. He manipulates multiple languages and has passion for taking care of every guests. Once he meets the guests, never forgot their face. He’s always friendly.

Experiencia fantástica: The best art space in Naoshima island. If you like contemporary art and architecture, this is the must go place for you! Also be aware photo taking is not allowed there. But we’ve seen a lot of tourists taking photos inside. Please don’t do that.

The surroundings were peaceful and the building is beautiful with many little surprises to discover on the grounds (if you appreciate things like unconventional manipulation of natural light and unusual placement of picture frames). There's an otherworldly-ness to the entire island, a fun place to visit :)

The experience of essentially sleeping in a museum packed with Basquiat and Sugimoto amazing in itself (and you are surrounded by beaches and spectacular Tadao Ando architecture) the rooms themselves are also super cool! If you are in the art islands, you have to check it out.

Experiencia fantástica: Stayed in the museum hotel. Rooms are fabulous with great views. 20/10 would visit again. Kaiseki dinner was also amazing. If open, the oval room bar is a great experience worth waiting for.

With art dotted around the grounds and Yayoi Kusama's pumpkin visible from our balcony, it was a really exceptional experience. The Japanese dinner was excellent. It is pricey but worth it!

Experiencia fantástica: Wonderful! Got to enjoy museum designed by Tadao Ando, with three floors of 35 artwork not counting another 21 open-air works around the premise. Just need time and a nice weather. No photography within the museum though. If staying in either Benesse House Oval or Museum, explore the open air-works first and other two museums, and then view the Benesse House Museum artworks in the evening when the museum is closed to the public.

Experiencia fantástica: probably the best hotel i've ever stayed in. the hotel itself is a museum, and the location (proximity to lee ufan/chichu museums and the yellow pumpkin) and view is unbeatable. the room could be a lil small for some and for the price you've paid, but i'd say the service made up for it. i wanna say a special thank you to Aya who's so friendly and attentive! also for the staff who drove me to chichu when i missed the hotel coach. hope to see you all again soon! :D

Experiencia fantástica: According to me this is another great architecture by Tadao Ando. The museum itself is not that big but each art has got is own space. The view from the outside space is amazing, the architecture creates a frame for the nature.
