Experiencia fantástica: Such a beautiful place. 青森県立美術館, Aomori Kenritsu Bijutsukan Open until 5 pm, so ensure proper timings when you visit. 9:30 - 17:00 Closed on 2nd and 4th Monday of each month (or the following day if Monday is a national holiday), New Year holidays, and irregularly for exhibit changes!! *Final Admission 30 minutes before closing. Ticket is required, 510 (410) yen for adult! Parking is available in the premises. I visited there in August 2020 during summer vacations. You can enjoy watching show but check the timings through their website! Kids friendly! Access: The museum is located next to the Kenritsu Bijutsukanmae bus stop (県立美術館前), a twenty minute, 280 yen bus ride from Aomori Station. It is also a five minute walk from the Sannai Maruyama Jomon Archaeological Site. Known for its exceptional architectural design. The ground under the museum was cut in a geometric style to resemble the trenches of the excavation area. Structure enveloped by white-painted bricks lands these trenches. The concave/convex trenches and white structure are interlocking but maintain spaces. Since opening in 2006, the Aomori Museum of Art with its goal of introducing the arts of Aomori to the world has collected and exhibited works from Aomori native artists such as Shiko Munakata, Shuji Terayama, Yoshitomo Nara, and Tohl Narita. The Aomori Dog by Yoshimoto Nara has become the museum's iconic symbol. Highly recommended. Happy Travelling Cheers Happy

Experiencia fantástica: 2022.08 Easily can spend half a day here at the museum, with a good collection of Yayoi Kusama and Yoshitomo Nara ! The cafe serves good lunch at reasonable price, plus Sannai Maruyama ruins is at walking distance, this can be a full day excursion in Aomori ~

Experiencia positiva: The place is cool, has interesting works mostly from Japanese artist. Don’t expect a big museum, it could take even less than an hour to go around it without entering the special exhibitions.

Experiencia positiva: Lovely museum. Huge building while small collection however is really nice to see and enjoy. Don’t stay only inside, explore the outskirts of the museum. There are amazing views and artworks outside as well.

Experiencia fantástica: Wonderful gallery , well worth the trip especially with kids . The Chagall’s were truly epic ! If you do go ,make sure you read “The Lonesome Puppy” by Yoshitomo Nara beforehand it will make the experience even better. Also , if you go after late April during the warmer months you can be outside with Aomori Ken otherwise you can only view him from behind glass.

Experiencia fantástica: The exhibits are beautiful. Worth the 510 yen ticket price. There are other activities available as well (library and an area for kids), open park area with benches to relax, cafe. Good place to visit and relax.

Experiencia fantástica: The museum is very beautiful and the collections are great. You can see the Chagall’s artwork until 2020. However the Aomori-ken is very difficult to reach and no one in the museum would tell you that in fact you can reach there for free.

Experiencia fantástica: one of my favorite museum ever, the building was decent, the exhibition was great and well-displayed, and you could find the cute Yoshitomo Nar dog. About the ticket, it's a bit pricy though.

Experiencia fantástica: I like the complete white design. Simple and uncluttered. There are modern Japanese artists as well as a special collection of the pieces from the Uffizi museum in Italy currently.

Experiencia fantástica: Special exhibitions are very innovative curating mainly domestic today's artists should see that wants to know current contemporary art in Japan, permanent show is also great! Aomori born great artists work able to see such as Yoshitomo Nara, Daodo Moriyama, Shuji Terayama... And unique and huge architect is also great by Jun Aoki.

Experiencia fantástica: Excellent! This museum is located near the entrance of Tohoku Highway and easy to access with cars. We did not realize we can reach Big Aomori Dog free of charge. When we visited this place, there are special exhibitions, which includes the photos of Naomi Ishikawa. It was impressed. There some photo of Mt. Everest and the documentary movies that he went to there.
