Experiencia fantástica: Make sure to pay a visit to Archaeological Museum that contains 450,000 various artifacts and monuments of Paleolithic, Late Iron Age and other historical periods. One of the most important artifacts, however, is the mummy and the wrapping that was used to preserve it. This wrapping contains the longest Etruscan script (Liber Linteus) that dates to the 3rd century BC. Absolute revelation! Compulsory place to visit while in Zagreb.

Experiencia fantástica: You can´t leave Zagreb without a visit to this museum. It is very surprising to find such a collection of egyptian, greek, roman and slavic objects in the same place: flasks, containers, statues, coins, helmets, swords, steles, mummies... Explanations of each object is written both in croatian and english. A large number of historical events and maps are also very well explained in both languages. The biggest surprise of the museum is the egyptian mummy, with all its sarcophagi. This museum is located in a lovely place, just in front of Zrinjevac Park, one of the most beautiful places in Zagreb. Don't miss this Museum when you come to Zagreb.

Experiencia fantástica: Interesting experience in the city and it's quite close to the main square so if you happen to be around get there for a different kind of place to be at for something around an hour.

Experiencia fantástica: I love the atrium of the Archeological Museum. It has a nice coffee shop surrounded by sculptures. The museum itself is interesting and worth visiting. Despite being in the middle of Zagreb, the coffee shop is peaceful, the music is great and the coffee is great.

Experiencia fantástica: Museum has Egyptian artefacts, which are the most interesting collection of the museum along with so-called Zagreb mummy. You will need around 1 and half hour to see hole museum.

Experiencia fantástica: It's a relatively small museum with significant and valuable artefacts. The concept is smart and concise, lead the visitor from early prehistoric, bronze and cooper ages, trough Egyptians, Antiques to the Medieval with significant accents on some great crafts and arts things. There you may see a great collection of the Greek vases, antics sculptures, famous collection of the bronze jewelry of the mystic Japodi tribe(s), Egyptian mummies and famous "liber linteus", the more than then meters of bandages in which one of the mummy was wrapped, with the manuscript on it, partially translated by the experts. In the backyard of the Museum you can take a tour of the stone grave monuments and sarcophagus,. Alaso you can find there a very nice cafe offers drinks, refreshment beverages, and very good American style food like ribs, hamburgers, salads, mushrooms... In the court you can find a very nice and well supplied Museum shop with great handmade souvenirs, and Archaeological literature.

Experiencia fantástica: This is a very nice museum. There are three floors but they do have an elevator. I'm not sure about the price because we went on a free day (the first Sunday of every month). We really enjoyed the sections on ancient Rome and ancient Greece. They had a nice mix of artifacts and stories. We didn't get to see much of the Egyptian exhibits because the museum closed earlier than we expected (13:00).

Experiencia fantástica: My 8yo daughter and I have been here twice and we love it. They have amazing prehistory and Egyptian collections (there's a mummy, although it isn't Egyptian, several sarcophagi and authentic Book of the Dead papyri, among other things). There's a lovely Greco-Roman collection too but we love the Egypt room so much we want to live there. Seriously. When you visit, don't miss the opportunity to take a ride in Zagreb's oldest elevator. And have a cup of coffee in the beautiful cafe in the garden. Admittance is unbelievably cheap for such an amazing place!

Experiencia fantástica: Great walk through history, from cave man to medieval times. There is a real mummy that us always the hit of the day for my son, no matter how many times he saw it by now....

Experiencia fantástica: Archeological Museum of Zagreb is definitely worth a visit. Along with its permanent display of artifacts found in Croatia throughout history, this is one of the few place in the world where you can see Etruscan writing! And on a shroud of an Egyptian mummy, of all things.

Experiencia fantástica: One of the best classical museums in the city. located in the heart of the town, easily reachable from two streets through the garden with caffe in summertime. Great collection of old egypt mummies.

Simon Pugnet 6 years ago

Experiencia fantástica: Very well laid out exhibits with descriptions in both Croatian and English. I also took a guided tour (in English) which was very interesting and fun! Prehistory, bronze age, iron age, Egyptian, Greek and Roman permanent exhibits. The building is also pretty spectacular!

Ruben Ortega 6 years ago

Experiencia fantástica: Great museum with lots of antiquities from Etruscan, Egyptian and Greek times. As an English speaker, there wasn't always a translation, but there was enough detail that it was still compelling.

Frank S 6 years ago

Experiencia fantástica: Fascinating and very in depth look at ancient Croatia with very interesting Egyptian, Greek, and Roman sections thrown in! There is also plenty of English signage, so fear not.

Experiencia fantástica: Beautiful building, former palace that is currently an archeological museum, with permanenet collection of numerous objects from antique Egypt, Roman Empire, Greece and Eastern Europe. The most famous pieces are the Zagreb Mummy and Liber Linteus, but there are other amazing pieces worth visiting. First Sundsy of every month is free for all, so bring the kids, it will be fun for them and explore the history of both our country and other. Birthday parties can be organised and there are numerous workshops as well. The building has 3 floors, but it has a wonderful, old but working, elevator (lift), so you can takr that. Start from the 3rd floor and come downstairs, and if you're visiting during a nice and sunny day, be sure to grab a drink at the inner courtyard of the palace, thr lapidarium. It's tranquil, safe for the kids and relaxing.

Experiencia fantástica: Great museum full of interesting artifacts! Among many interesting exhibits from various stages in history, there are also Egyptian sarcophags, and world's longest Etruscan text known as Liber Linteus Zagrabiensis.

Bruce Robertson 6 years ago

Experiencia fantástica: A world-class collection that won't exhaust your feet, including the longest writing in the mysterious Etruscan language discovered anywhere.

Experiencia fantástica: I even got an adventure for free! They locked us in a section of the museum thinking all the visitors had already left. Was fun!

Experiencia fantástica: Highly recommend to come. I was here on a free night museum. I regretted not come before. The place has many floors and is filled of great collections. I was very impressed with the Roman, Greek and Egyptian collection .

Tibor Pejic 7 years ago

Experiencia fantástica: Very nice museum holds some interesting items from bronze age (pottery, tools and weapons) and the biggest piece of text in Etruscan language. 2nd and 3rd floor are very interesting but don't expect much from the 1st floor.

Experiencia fantástica: One of the best museums I’ve EVER been to. Such an extensive exhibit on Egypt, with most information in English as well. Specimens are so well kept for their age, and they are all very old! The hieroglyphics on some of the parts of the Book of the Dead are still eligible, which is very rare! So glad it closed at 1pm on Sunday, as I could have EASILY spent all my time in there! I recommend at least two hours to fully see the exhibits. They have some amazing stuff from the Bronze Age in there. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!

Experiencia fantástica: Situated in the very center, this museum should be included in every visitors' sightseeing program. It features nice and interesting collection of artefacts from ancient history (including Egyptian, Greek and Roman era etc.) as well as complete history of Croatian people in surrounding area of Balkans...

Experiencia fantástica: I have not jet been in a museum, but the coffee shop in the back yard is very cute and calm place to drink coffee im the heart of the city. The gift shop is also very nice.

Experiencia fantástica: Very informative through the ages. Egyptian part is the best. Note not all info is in English but there is printed docs

Gloria G 7 years ago

Experiencia fantástica: Full of interesting things, very complete collection. The Egyptian part was my favorite, the mummy had me shook yall. The reduced entrance for students got us in for a very affordable price (I recall it was 5€ per person, but I'm not sure) There was also barely any people there so we didn't feel rushed or anything.

Experiencia fantástica: This place was great. It wasn't crowded at all and was pretty quiet. The museum isn't huge and could probably be seem in about 2 hours. I was running late on my last day of sight seeing so only had an hour. Everything was nicely displayed and well organized. Most of the signs were in Croatian but newer ones were written in English. If I had to guess, more and more signs will be in English as they update things. The highlight for me was the Etruscan scroll. Very cool and one of a kind.

The Progressive Update 7 years ago

Experiencia positiva: Quite an impressive collection of pre-historic, Egyptian, and Roman exhibits (complete with an actual living mummy - well, not living, but real). The item description place could use improvement, and though most have an English version, not all of them do. The descriptions lack the explanation and stories that make the artifacts interesting. Try to arrange for a tour of the museum a head of time so you don't miss on the importance and interesting details that are easily missed otherwise.

Experiencia fantástica: SO MUCH NEAT STUFF!! They have an actual mummy on display in their Egyptian exhibit. This was probably my number one favorite place we went to in Zagreb. What I really liked especially was that unlike many history museums, nothing in here was a replica, they were all real artifacts dug up in expeditions. I would definitely go here again. (About half of the exhibit information signs are only in Croatian though, which is tough when you're a tourist.)

Experiencia fantástica: Amazing museum with a lot of historical and archaeological exhibits. Special attraction of the museum is a real mummy. Museum offers excellent guides and tours. Behind the museum there is a beautiful garden where there is a cafe bar. Great place to get away from the city noise and enjoy the peace.

Experiencia fantástica: One of the best museums in Zagreb. Situated in the most beatifull park in Zagreb - Zrinjevac Park. The palace of the museum is a story for itselft. Built at the beginning of 20th century by one of the richest wholesaler of that time it is elegant, special and richly dedicated. The museum is famous by Zagreb mummy and the Linen book of Zagreb, as well as the Greek and Roman Collection. It's a MUST.

Experiencia fantástica: This is an exceptional museum, both for the excellent curated displays and for the unique contents of prehistoric material from this part of Europe. The is also noted material on ancient Egypt and the Greek-Roman period for south-central Europe.

Bojnaable 8 years ago

Experiencia fantástica: A lot of history to see. As you walk through the museum you feel like looking at a child growing, learning and getting mature throughout ages.

gabriel rojas 8 years ago

Experiencia fantástica: Incredible museum, very detailed and with a very wide collection. There are archeological pieces from groups from the Balkans to Egypt, Ancient Greek and Rome. Also the audioguide is free and you can use in your cellphone, so is pretty comfortable for any visitor. The museum is very well preserved and a very good price considering thee exhibitions

Rory Barr 8 years ago

Experiencia fantástica: To be completely honest, we went in here to get out of the rain but it was an excellent experience nonetheless. The exhibits ranged far back into history and displayed the many complex historical groups living in the region over time. Not a lot of the information cards are in English but that's OK, you can still understand enough. Really liked the grand old elevator here and the atmosphere was quiet because it was basically deserted on that day.
