Experiencia fantástica: At first, I thought this was some sort of tourists trap, but this museum is genuinely brilliant and absolutely must see! Unofficial worlds biggest collection of mushrooms, 99% from Croatia. People who work there are very passionate about their work and they will answer all questions. The best 20kn spent in a long time! No card payments, there is lots of ATMs as the main square.

We had a lovely conversation, and he explained some of the more interesting samples to my son. Places like this are what make Zagreb such a special and memorable city.

Experiencia fantástica: It was magnificent with all of the mushrooms and the guide was very friendly. He showed us all the different types of mushrooms, explained how the collection came into being and how the mushrooms are preserved to look so life-like. He even kissed a death cap!

Experiencia fantástica: Check the opening times before visiting as it's only open a couple of days a week, but it's well worth making the effort. The biggest display of mushrooms in the world is very cool, but make sure to ask a few questions to Zvonko who looks after the museum, his knowledge is amazing and he has some fascinating facts and stories. We spent about 90 mins there with Zvonko showing us how he identifies and preserves the mushrooms. A really unusual but interesting place, right on the main square.

Experiencia fantástica: Huge thanks to my friend Ivana for discovering this little museum to me and showing me around. Thanks to Mr. Zvonko for talking to me about mushrooms and showing me some that I have been particularly interested in. A very nice collection, still growing, lots of effort in classification of the exhibits. The museum is located in the center, it cannot be more central than this but it still kind of hidden and out of site: enter the building and wait for the elevator, you will see the museum on the 2nd floor.

Experiencia fantástica: Don't miss it! One of my favorite stops in Croatia. We had the whole place to ourselves. Zvonko the curator was so friendly and helpful, he was such a wealth of information on all things mushrooms. He answered all of our questions, even explained how they collect the mushrooms and showed us how they prep the mushrooms for the exhibits. Super interesting. I think we spent an hour and a half here. For sure going truffle hunting next time we are in Croatia! FINDING IT: Google will take you to the building where the museum is located, you'll feel like you're in the wrong place. You're not! Go inside, take the stairs up to second floor and look for the signs. Ring the bell and enjoy the museum!

Experiencia fantástica: 1500 mushrooms! Once you enter the building make an immediate left! Do not go straight and climb the staircases like a moron like me. I was the only one there and found the experience incredible.

Experiencia fantástica: Fantastic place for the mushroom lovers and those who'd like to be acquainted with the magic world of mushrooms. The biggest of its kind in the world, the museum comprises around 1500 different mushrooms displayed in the glass cases. A lot of interesting and useful information will be provided by the museum guide and a mushroom expert, Mr Zvonko Vuk. If you are a gourmet, you will even be given some great cooking tips for preparing mushrooms. Overall, a unique experience

Experiencia fantástica: It was the best experience in Croatia. Perfect place for mushroom lovers! Tip: the door is a bit difficulty to open but is is not locked. Experiencia fantástica: Not an easy find but worth the visit.it is on the second floor of the building and the signs are tiny. Apparently it's the largest collection of 1500 species of mushroom. 5 kronas (1 can dollar) to enter. Lots of mushrooms to look at, friendly person guarding the mushrooms.

Experiencia fantástica: It might be hard to find for people who don't know exactly where the entrance is. It's between the Dolac market and the Count Jelačić square on the left side after you pass the Addiko bank and head towards the market. When you enter either use the elevator or go two stories up and ring the bell. The museum itself boasts a huge collection of mushrooms marked if they are edible, inedible, have no nutritional value or are poisonous or even lethal. Note that the vast majority of the mushrooms are from somewhere in Croatia, with some being donated from people who travelled to China and Russia and some other countries,but as said, most (99,8%) are from somewhere from Croatia.

Experiencia fantástica: This place is great! Definitely worth more than the 20kn ticket price. We spent almost an hour there- just gazing at all the mushrooms (there aren't many signs or explations to read- the mushrooms themselves are the main display). The staff is very helpful- they spoke English and answered our questions about the collection, the freeze-drying process, the museum's founder/chief scientist, etc. I would highly recommend this museum.

Experiencia fantástica: Great collection of mushrooms. The most interesting part is seeing them in person and their actual size. I know most of the mushrooms there from seeing them around online, but somehow seeing them there is just different from seeing them on Google Images. The professor is sometimes in the museum as well, and if he's not busy, you can ask him about the mushrooms to learn more.
