🗣️ Museo Histórico Nacional: Opiniones
Experiencia fantástica: Unlike the National Archeological Museum, the National Historical Museum does not attract too many visitors. When I was there, most were schoolchildren on their field trips. I am interested in politics and history, so this place appeals to me. It covers the Greek history from 1453 when Constantinople fell to Ottomans, to the end of WWII, and many precious and interesting objects are on display. What makes it more special is that it is housed in the old parliament at the center of the city. It seems that curators themselves do not take the place very seriously, since tourists can sit in parliamentary seats. The museum is small and easy to tour, and it charges a symbolic fee.
Experiencia fantástica: beautiful art! pity it is not taken care of so well ;(
Experiencia fantástica: Great experience don’t miss it.
Experiencia fantástica: Impressive little museum ~150m from Panepistimio metro. Only 3E pp admission. Definitely worth that price, if for no other reason, clean restroom, quiet spot away from urban chaos outside. Small museum, but artifacts, relics tightly packed, worth about 1hr at most, maybe 90mins. Almost no wall is bare, paintings of assorted Greek religious, political and military folks (names in Greek). Very, very friendly folks there; ask them anything, they relish the interest. Not crowded, this random Wednesday afternoon in December; there were maybe 8 people in the museum including us. WC downstairs, down long mysterious hall, and more sculptures, clean and functional. Museum is 2 floors, rather small. All about recent (1822-1922) Greek history, which means all about Greek-Turk conflict. 100years of non-stop fighting (Smyrna?) in photos, costumes, weapons, and stories. A Samsung screen where you touch the glass above an object and information appears on the screen, very neat, never seen that tech before. Everything in Greek and English, fold-out cards, easy to read, interesting, well done descriptions (not too long, not too short). In middle is old parliament; just walk right in, name cards of MPs beside their microphones. Impressive building.
Experiencia fantástica: Always a good idea and perspective to learn more about Greece !
Experiencia fantástica: Love it
Experiencia fantástica: Great exhibitions and very affordable - also free on Sundays
Experiencia fantástica: A good place to learn the history of Greece. Most materials are explained in both Greek and English. There are also videos and animations to explain certain topics. Embroidery and jewelry are interesting to view, even for foreigners.
Experiencia fantástica: Knowing your real personality is the first requirement for building an ideal personality. This is necessary in the same way as it is necessary to understand the question in depth in order to find the answer. When we will be well acquainted with the real nature of our personality, when we will have correct knowledge of every specialty, defect and deficiency of our personality, then only we will be able to refine our personality and convert it into an ideal personality. That's why Swami Nityanandji has said that one must have knowledge of his inner self. Famous American actor and director Michael Dolan tells us a very good way to become aware of the inner things. He says that if we want to know ourselves, then we have to get lost in our life. How we behave in our life, what we are interested in, what thoughts come in our mind, these things together determine our personality. And we can understand them from our own life. After recognizing these things, we may have to make changes in many places for the development of our personality. But if these changes are done correctly to get good results, then only it will be called development. There is no person who does not have flaws. But, if there are flaws, then with them the advantages are also mutually included. Those who enhance their specialties while removing their flaws, their personality is called an ideal personality.
Experiencia positiva: Interesting museum documenting Greek history up until WWII. The highlight is the old Parliament House. The only criticism I have is that the exhibits were not arranged in any logical order. If they were arranged in chronological order it would have made a lot more sense.
Experiencia fantástica: A wonderful place to learn about Greek history and culture. Beautiful historic building.
Experiencia fantástica: A vivid presentation of modern Greek history through artwork and artefacts, with focus on the war of independence and the founding of the Modern Greek State.
Experiencia fantástica: Great to learn about Greek history since the Romans left. The museum covers the Greek independence movement as well as the period since.
Experiencia fantástica: Full of history. Saw Lord Byrons travel bed and locks of his hair. Explained why he became Philleines
Experiencia fantástica: I really loved it here! Gave me so much insight on the relationship between Greeks and the Turks. The exhibit was pretty big and so insightful, full of culture and art displays that described so many important historical events. For only 3 euros it's a must !
Experiencia fantástica: A lot of information about Greek revolution and life in XIX century. Plenty of English translations.
Experiencia fantástica: A great deal about Greek independence, if you like to read everything, plan put some time. There's a LOT to read!
Experiencia fantástica: For just 3€ you can deep dive into Greek history. Wonderful.
Experiencia positiva: This Museum is housed in the former Hellenic Parliament building, which is impressive in itself. It covers Greek history from the Byzantine and Ottoman periods through to the Second World War, with the emphasis being on events leading up to, and following, Greek independence in 1821. Good value at EUR 3 and EUR 1.50 if over 65.
Experiencia fantástica: Seems to be a really overlooked museum. This museum picks up where the archaeology museum leaves off. Goes from Byzantine, to Ottoman and through WWII. The entire second floor is focused on the events leading up to and subsequently following the uprising of 1821. I think it's worth it if you have the interest. Takes about 1.5 hours.
Experiencia fantástica: This beautiful neoclassical building of Athens which today is the national History museum of Greece, also served as the building of the first parliament of the newly found Greek state after the 1821 revolution against the Ottoman empire. A beautiful place in the center of Athens to come visit and explore and learn more about our beautiful country, a must see from visitors abroad.
Experiencia fantástica: What a great museum! Also it's free on Sundays! We did not know that so we were pleasantly surprised. It's definitely worth the visit. It mainly covers the Greek war of Independence of 1821 with many war artifacts and personal effects of the heroes of the struggle. It also includes great information about the life back then as well as information on US and British individuals who helped during the war.
Experiencia fantástica: The National Historic Museum is a MUST visit! What a mind blowingly large and detailed collection of historic items and artifacts from Greece's more modern history going back a few hundred years, and in the old, beautiful historic Parliament building to boot! Admission fees are very affordable and fair as well. Be sure to see the displays on both floors, as well as the actual large legislative chamber with it's gorgeous ornate ceiling.
Experiencia fantástica: We spent 2.5 hours in total at the museum. Very interesting insight into Greek social and economic history. The 2nd floor is mainly dedicated to teaching children with lots of interactive activities (Playmobil scenes & figures galore!) Well worth a visit.
Experiencia fantástica: It may appear old-fashioned but it contains the history of modern Greece-and beyond. Exhibits from the Venetian-occupated regions, the Ottoman period, the Greek War for Independence and the formation of the modern Greek state. As the building served for nearly a century as the country's parliament, many Greek statesemen have passed from its amphitheatre, some of them depicted in famous works of art. Definitely worth a visit. Use the info kiosks past the tickets' office to help you orientate.
Experiencia fantástica: I saw this place during the daytime and went after hours just to enjoy the surrounding area. The statues carry enormous amount of history... It gives energy.
Experiencia fantástica: I really enjoyed this museum! It's so beautiful with a lot of stories and civilisation! And it's free on Sundays! So if you didn't plan something his Sunday you can go to Syntagma square, to the parliament; check the guard switch ceremony then go to the museum!
Experiencia fantástica: Great Museum with an easy layout. Was greeted as I entered and given a map. I also happened to go on Sunday when it was free but the price isn't too bad anyway. Definitely a must see if you aren't too hot on Greeces more modern history like me. Definitely recommend.
Experiencia fantástica: Museum has a unique collection of items from the war for independence. Is not big, but very interesting. Impressive building. Sundays entrance is free. But working hours are not for the visitors just if you are early bird you can catch it. Sorry but this must be changed as you are public place.
Experiencia fantástica: Objects related to the Greek revolution (swords, guns, flags, coins etc), interesting paintings and many other items. Watched the special exhibition about the 1st world war which has been extended to early December and is not to be missed - you actually go into a 'trench' and get a feeling of what it must have been like. I went on a weekday and it was really quiet so I really enjoyed stopping and looking at each exhibit for as long as I wanted. I particularly liked the watercolour copies of some well known paintings - the bluish colours were so vibrant - I will go back and see those again. I was not sure if I was allowed to take photos so I have none to show.
Experiencia fantástica: What a gem in the middle of Athens! For anyone to get a wonderful exposure to Greece's history from 1821 to-date, this is a MUST visit! Enjoy!
Experiencia fantástica: This museum was great. I was here for a summer program and stopped by. It was great. Very informative, interesting exhibits about Greece and stuff. Interesting to see the old congress area. The artwork was neat and the place really made an impact on me.
Experiencia fantástica: excellent small museum about greek movement for independence, especially in 19th century.beside this an impressive current exhibition about first world war with unique items and a very pleasant neutral flashlight about ww1,its roots, development and aftermatch.impressed....and a big thanks to the staff which shows enthusiasm and interest in its work, which is already absent in some more "rich" countries of EU!!
Experiencia fantástica: I loved that place! It's a great part of modern Greek history. Despite of it's importance as a building it is never crowded or busy for one to fully enjoy and appreciate it. Feel free to ask the staff for information as they are very pleasant to talk to. If show genuine interest they might treat you to a private tour around which is probably the best way to enjoy this place. You will also be able to pose as an MP or even PM in the old parliament hall and take as many pics as you want. So dress well xxx
