The Archaeological Museum of Piraeus has lots offer a naval history buff and there is also vibrant contemporary gallery district nearby. It's also the perfect place to enjoy a delicious fish lunch.

Experiencia fantástica: Wonders never cease! Contains 4 of the rarest bronze sculptures from antiquity, discovered at the bottom of the harbour in the late 50s. This museum needs to be on your to-see list, alongside the museums of Acropolis, the central Benaki, Archaeological of Athens, the Archaeological of Vravrona, and Kerameikos. Simply superb!

I have never in my life seen a more beautiful bronze statue than the Artemis in the middle of the room of the bronze statues (see my photos). I mean: this is the most beautiful statue of the world and of all times, according to my very limited experience.

Experiencia fantástica: A small but impressive archaeological museum very close to the port. Their collections cover the majority of the glorious history of Piraeus. The five bronze statues are stunning and there are many important exhibits. Outside of the building there is one of the two ancient theatres of Piraeus. Our tour guide was excellent and everyone in our group enjoyed very much. Highly recommended museum. A hidden gem.

The museums are full of artifacts but seem to be poor in government support. but I think it's magical to visit these museums. In Pireaus there is great archaeological value.

Experiencia fantástica: A small museum but with some great works of art. It deserves a visit. It's a 10 min walk from the piraeus metro station and it's cheap, 4 euros per person. There are remains from both the greek and the roman period and some of them really stunning (for example, three giant bronze statues). Visit takes about an hour.

Experiencia fantástica: ARCHAEOLOGICAL MUSEUM OF PIRAEUS This significant museum of Piraeus features a representative and complete picture of the history of the city which in ancient times flourished as the commercial centre of the Eastern Mediterranean and as a naval dockyard of ancient Athens. The museum is housed in a two storey building and there is also an outdoor archaeological site. Τhe exhibits cover important dates in the history of Piraeus, the demes of Attica (burgs of Athens or subdivision of Attica, the region surrounding Athens) and the islands of the Saronic Gulf, from Mycenaean times to the Roman era. Some of the exhibits are extremely rare, in particular the famous bronze statues, the impressive monument of Kallithea, the figurines from the Minoan sanctuary on the summit of Kythera and the Mycenaean sanctuary in Methana. You will also admire the oldest surviving cast statue in Greece, a kouros (statue of a young male) dedicated to the god Apollo, two statues of Artemis and a theatrical tragedy mask -all brass works dating from the 4th century B.C. The marble lion of Moshato, which was a funerary offering, is also exhibited here, as is the funerary monument of Nikiratos and a bronze ram 0.8 meters long from an Athenian trireme.

Experiencia fantástica: The museum is often out of the main tours, but it's definitely worth a visit for those who go to Athens or go by the port. The museum has a collection of incredible pieces, including my favorite: the bronze statue of Athena and the numerous clay pots so well conserved. When we went there in September, the place was very calm and we were the only ones there. The ticket is also very cheap.

Experiencia fantástica: The museum has a 60s vibe but it has some of the most impressive bronze statues from antiquity I have seen. It is just a stone's throw from the port of Piraeus and you can see it in an hour. For the price of just 4 euros it's something you just have to see if you find yourself in Piraeus.
