Experiencia fantástica: Definitely some interesting exhibitions - particularly about prehistoric and early civilisation in Vietnam that you won’t see at other places. Also some beautiful historic pottery. Note that some of the English translations werent fantastic/not always available, but largely were very good.

Experiencia fantástica: Pretty museum where you can see many artefacts from Vietnam. It was a french museum before so the atmosphere is still like French colonial.

Experiencia positiva: There are two museum buildings separated by busy street. First one is hosting exhibitions about Vietnam history from ancient times to French colonisation. Many descriptions were not available in English. The second building focuses on history of independence movement and communist party. It is much better suited for English speaking visitors. Student tickets were available for half price.

Experiencia fantástica: The Vietnam National Museum of History (Vietnamese: Viện Bảo tàng Lịch sử Việt Nam) is located in the Hoan Kiem district of Hanoi, Vietnam. The museum building was an archaeological research institution of the French School of the Far East under French colonial rule (Louis Finot École française d'Extrême-Orient EFEO) of 1910, was extensively refurbished in 1920. It was redesigned between 1926 and 1932 by architect Ernest Hébrard. The museum was acquired by the Government of Vietnam in 1958 and then the artifact collections were expanded to cover eastern arts and national history. Location The museum is situated at the back of the Hanoi Opera House. It is on 1 Trang Tien Street, 216 Tran Quang Khai Street, Hanoi. History The museum building used to be the archaeological research institution of the French School of the Far East under French colonial rule (Louis Finot École française d'Extrême-Orient EFEO), which opened in 1910. This was extensively refurbished in 1920, and redesigned between 1926 and 1932 by the architect Ernest Hébrard. It is considered a blend of French colonial and traditional Vietnamese architecture, also called Indochina architecture. The museum was acquired by the Government of Vietnam in 1958 and then the artifact collections were expanded to cover eastern arts and national history. It was formally opened for public viewing on 3 September 1958. The museum's exhibits highlight Vietnam's prehistory (about 300,000–400,000 years ago) up to the August 1945 Revolution.

Experiencia positiva: Two floor museum document some of Vietnam’s cultural and archeological history. Nice colonial style building surrounded by partially manicured gardens with additional sculptures. Cost 40,000 VND for an adult and was done in just over an hour walking through both floors and around the garden.

Experiencia fantástica: Wonderful collection showing Vietnam's history from pre historic times to present. The museum is split into two sites next to each other. For what you get to see I think it's amazing value and a must see for anyone interested in history

Experiencia fantástica: Interesting to learn about the history of the region, with nicely preserved artifacts. The recent history has a been of a propaganda-ish spin on it, but that's the political climate in Vietnam, so not unexpected.

Experiencia fantástica: One of the best curated museums about vietnamese history, with many interesting pieces from every timeperiod. This place is a jewel. At a very low cost this museum is worth checking out, it is very close to the old quarter and accesible for both children and adults. Staircase might be an issue for wheelchairs. A must-see for any visit to Hanoi.

Experiencia fantástica: A surprisingly well assembled collection of artefacts along with clear explanations of what you're looking at, and why they matter. We didn't check opening times, and they closed for lunch about thirty minutes after we arrived. We went for lunch ourselves and were admitted for free with our original tickets when we came back.
