Experiencia fantástica: Visiting the “You Can See and You Can Touch” Ancient Technology Museum was an enlightening experience. The hands-on approach to historical artifacts breaks the typical “look, but don’t touch” mold of many museums. It’s a rare opportunity to tangibly connect with our technological roots, bringing history to life in the most tangible way. Whether you’re a history enthusiast or simply curious, this museum offers a rich, immersive journey that educates and inspires. A must-visit!

Experiencia fantástica: This museum is a little gem hidden in the quiet streets of Kolanaki. It's in period townshouse across 4 floors. There are ancient games for the kids, traditional musical instruments with playback sounds to be heard. In the basement there is a fantastic collection of ancient military armour. They really are works of art and expert craftsmanship. Definitely worth discovering this place a little off the main tourist trail.

Experiencia fantástica: We thought this was an educational and informative museum, and a great way to interpret the archaeological grounds. The air conditioning provided a respite from the late summer heat. A definite must-s

Experiencia fantástica: We visited this museum by chance as we didn't know its existence! We were definetely amazed by the excibition! The explanations of every item were of very high quality and there were many languages available! Highly appreciated the fact that there was no entrance fee but you could contribute to the museum's preservance by donating as much as you can afford! The items give you an amazing overview of what tha ancient greeks have develop in terms of ships, war, theater or daily equipment! Highly recommended!

Experiencia fantástica: Very interesting museum, the visitor is amazed by all the exhibits and it's incredible how people were able to create such gadgets and many other things hundreds or even thousands years ago, setting the basics for contemporary technology and mechanics

Experiencia fantástica: We just returned to Heraklion after a week in Crete and just happened to pick up the brochure at the hotel - we weren't planning to go to another museum but this one looked fun so we gave it a try ... boy o boy are we happy we did - this rates as the second-best museum in Crete in my list (1st is the Heraklion Archaeological Museum) and we visited MANY this past week! The museum is new (opened only 2 weeks ago) but it is a gem. The museum has built dozens of devices that were described in ancient Greek literature. The devices all work and the museum staff comes around to explain and demonstrate. There are also very well written and detailed explanations about each device. Entrance fees are very reasonable at 5 Euro a person. We easily spent 2-3 hours there experimenting, learning and playing. Upstairs in addition to some additional devices and a coffee shop - there is a gift shop with some of the devices available for purchase as well as an area where you can play some of teh games and try to solve some of the ancient Greek puzzles. We ended up buying a puzzle, a Greek version of tic-tac-toe which is MUCH more entertaining as there is no "draw" or tie in this version and it ends up being a game like chess to try and win, as well as an ancient Greek sundial that can be taken anywhere in the world to tell time. There is also a very nice catalog of the museum with detailed explanations as well as references for where the technological inventions originated. This is a museum not o be missed in Heraklion!

Experiencia fantástica: A wonderful, albeit small museum choc full of exhibits. The Greeks were an incredible race in their pursuit & development of knowledge in mathematics, measurement of time, hydraulics, entertainment, construction, & unfortunately, military technology. It is very well displayed & explained here. The curator was also very friendly, & gave a brief presentation.

Experiencia fantástica: Fabulous. A private collection of ancient Greek technology from Archimedes Screw to an early machanotron operated by water pressure. So much to see and study, we did not have enough time. Highly recommended.

Experiencia fantástica: Fantastic museum near the train station in Katakalon. Amazing displays showing creative and rather technical inventions from ancient Greece. Many people stop to peek in, learn about the requested $5 donation per person, and leave. They are missing out. We spent an hour there looking at displays (descriptions I more than half a dozen languages), watching the multimedia explanations, and listening to the staff demonstrate some of the inventions. Very cool and highly recommended.

Experiencia fantástica: Kotsanas museum of ancient Greek technology is a unique museum that you should not miss.! The reconstructions of the ancient inventions will shed light in the ingeniousness of the ancient Greeks, who deprived of all the means we are equiped with today managed to develop such clever devises by deploying only the basic principles of physics and engineering. For an additional of 5 euros to the admission price, you will get the guided tour which is highly recommend, where you will learn all the secrets of each showpiece. The admission price itself is very reasonable and kids will enter for free. Excellent place to visit! Planning also to drop by the museum located in Athens where additional exhibits are showned.
