🗣️ Museo de la Guerra de Salónica: Opiniones
Experiencia fantástica: Interesting and well organised museum. Had exactly what I expected from a war museum.
Experiencia fantástica: 1. Great collection of weapons and historical items. 2. Students can get in with a reduced ticket of 2€. 3. All the information cards in the basement display items are in Greek. If they were in English as well, non Greek people could also enjoy them. 4. Nevertheless, enjoyed it thoroughly. Any gun nut or history nerd can spend hours in here.
Experiencia fantástica: Very interesting museum with good exhibitions and fairly comprehensive English translations for tourists. We visited yesterday afternoon (Dec 23) and there was a soldier who was very helpful and explained some of the more interesting aspects of the museum to us in detail. Unfortunately we didn’t ask him for his name, but he was a great representative for the museum.
Experiencia fantástica: Military museums are often boring or full of bias, but not this one! Highly recommend to everyone interested in the history of wars in this part of the world.
Experiencia fantástica: Very well maintained and equipped museum. The history of the region and the country is well explained and don’t give you a headache. Guys at the ticket office are very friendly and willing to have a short chat if not occupied with ticketing. Great experience!
Experiencia fantástica: The War Museum of Thessaloniki is a military museum. Its permanent collections show events from the turn of the 20th century to the liberation of Greece from German forces at the end of World War II. They include uniforms of the Hellenic army, air force and navy, weapons, replicas of artillery and ships, works of art, stone engravings, maps, paintings, postcards, and also similar items from the armies of other Balkan countries. These exhibits give insight to the Balkan Wars, World War I, the Asia Minor Campaign, the Greco-Italian War, the Battle of the Forts in eastern Macedonia, the Battle of Crete, the Occupation and the Resistance, the part played by Greek forces in Allied action in North Africa, Italy and Normandy, as well as the liberation from the Axis forces of occupation. In addition to exhibition spaces, the War Museum has an amphitheatre, a multi-purpose hall, a library and a giftshop. Ticket price: 4€
Experiencia fantástica: It worths to visit it. Greece's recent history comes alive in several rooms and exhibits.
Experiencia fantástica: Great museum, from different eras. Family friendly, duration 3 hours
Experiencia fantástica: If you have been to the Byzantium and Archeological Museums, the War Museum brings you up to the end of WII. Again great amount of information in English and Greek, €4 entry. Lots of old photographs, weapons, uniforms, medals and awards of valour.
Experiencia fantástica: Exactly the kind of museum for someone who loves weaponry throughout the ages. There is also a well put together area of military personnel for Greece and surrounding countries as well as a brief history.
Experiencia fantástica: Very happy to be able to visit this museum. A variety of military equipment and part of this country''s history is displayed and with good care. Kudos to the qurators and the museum staff. The latter is very helpful and ready to assist you. The location is ideal: though in downtown, a small pocket of serenity. There is also access for kids and parents with a card (even a double one). The small cafe inside offers a calm place to enjoy one's coffee ans company of friends, while admiring the scenery and the outside displays
Experiencia fantástica: Great place to visit. Probably my favourite museum in Thessaloniki. Nice people, beautifully put exhibition. Great air-conditioning :)
Experiencia fantástica: Quiet and nice exhibition. Body temperature check and registration required at the reception. Recommended! EU students under 25 can visit free of charge.
Experiencia fantástica: Great! Very rich exposition, I spent almost four hours here. =)
Experiencia fantástica: Great place to see. Much can be learned about the history of modern Greece not just to see guns and weapons.
Experiencia positiva: Amazing museum with real like decorations. Exhibitions from 1821 to wprld war 2. Unfortunately in many cases there are no English texts only the greek ones.
Experiencia positiva: Good for the overall story! Nice collection of guns, uniform and documents. Shame the part about the dictatorship in Greece was not in English. And is cash only
Experiencia fantástica: One of the nicest and most beautiful military museums I have seen. Nice collection of weapons, uniforms, medals. All very nicely organised and curated.
Experiencia fantástica: Beautiful and interesting museum, very cheap. Unfortunately no other people there, just us. We enjoyed it. :)
Experiencia fantástica: This museum is paradise for weapon and war connoisseur, so many interesting things to see.
Experiencia fantástica: It looks very good and there are a lot of information about the Greece participation in WWI, WWII and more. Children have free entrance.

Experiencia fantástica: Thessaloniki War Museum opened in October 2000. It is housed in the building designed by architect Vitaliano Poselli and erected between 1900 and 1902. The museum’s mission is to act as a base in Northern Greece for events organized by the War Museum in Athens and to help preserve historical memory and heritage in Northern Greece. Through its permanent exhibitions and various dedicatory exhibitions, the museum emphasizes the continuation of the Hellenic race throughout history, while simultaneously contributing to the documentation of the history of Greece at war. The permanent collections show events which were a watershed in Modern Greek history from the turn of the 20th century to the liberation of Greece from German forces at the end of World War II. They include photographs of the times, Greek army, air force and navy uniforms, weapons of the Greek army, replicas of artillery and ships, works of art, stone engravings, maps, paintings, postcards, and similar items from the armies of other Balkan countries. These exhibits give insight to the Balkan Wars, World War I, the Asia Minor Campaign, the Greco-Italian War, the Battle of the Forts in eastern Macedonia, the Battle of Crete, the Occupation and the Resistance, the part played by Greek forces in Allied action in North Africa, Italy and Normandy, as well as the liberation from the forces of occupation. In addition to exhibition spaces, the War Museum has an amphitheatre, a multi-purpose hall and well-stocked library of writings on history and war. Furthermore, all Ministry of Defence, Department of Military History and War Museum publications are on sale at the museum shop...!!
Experiencia fantástica: One of the most interesting museum of the city! Hundreds of exhibits, some of which are really rare. Spend some time to visit it and you won't regret it! A must - visit destination for history lovers. You will find it really easy behind the University of Macedonia.
Experiencia fantástica: Although I believe it's somehow oriented to the greek visitors, it's a must see. Many insteresting stuff, guns, medals, uniforms and outdoors a fighter aircraft and tanks.
Experiencia fantástica: The war museum of Thessaloniki was quite impressive. I really enjoyed the scene sets for each display case as well as the table where the surrender too place. They have some quite impressive weapon cabinets for each type of hand held firearm. Outside they also have a variety of APCs and artillery pieces include a aircraft.
Experiencia fantástica: What I like most and I am a man is that they had nice touches showing the contribution of women in war and as a human it showed the destruction of war. It had a good balance between showing the proud Greek history, with weapons pictures uniforms and dolls that made history more "alive" and showing you that war has a great cost: lives.
Experiencia fantástica: Quite well maintained military museum. Sections depicting the independence movement, Greco-Turkish war, World Wars, and the Junta.
Experiencia fantástica: 1st Hellenic Historical Collectors Exhibition Thessaloniki - GREECE 21,22,23 SEPTEMBER 2018
Experiencia fantástica: The museum hosts a collection of greek Orders of chivalry and military medals, greek and balkan swords and weapons and military uniforms. the first floor is dedicated to various times of greek military history, greek allies and enemies. Finally, there is a special exhibition of world war 2. Season exhibitions are hosted from time to time and there are areas for society conventions and children parties. 4€ ticket!
Experiencia fantástica: Amazing museum related to the wars where Greece was involved. It is managed and maintained by the official Greek Army therefore it is very organized, clean and with very helpful guides. It has facilities for disabled people and other comforts.
