Experiencia fantástica: It is difficult to construct a museum around a single art piece, however amazing it may be. But the Apoxyomenos museum is a complete success. Wonderful contemporary interior set into an old palace is filled with the entire compelling story of the Apoxyomenos statue, it's history and recent rediscovery, and the amazing effort put into its restoration. The museum is well worth a visit and the final meeting with the statue is most satisfying.

Experiencia fantástica: Really interesting place built around singular statue. But you can learn a lot about ancient Roman and Greek history, if you're a (kinda) history buff like me, you will enjoy this place immensely.

Experiencia fantástica: This is first museum I have visited dedicated to only one statue but it is worth of visit. Story of statue is very interesting also and guide was very good in presenting it to our organized group. There is also short documentary in very original room and after all other rooms you finally come in white room with this magnificent statue of which there is only several in the world. You are not allowed to take picture of the statue, but there are 3 windows from other rooms and you can take picture from them. Statue was found by Belgian diver and only because two stones stopped it to fall much deeper. After 2 years our embassy was notified and followed many years to restore it after almost 2 thousand years below the sea. They did not found ship wreck and there is possibility that it simple fell during storm or was sacrificed in order to ship to survive. But for me, most interesting story was about mice family living inside the statue before it was shipped to some Roman city as they wanted everything Greek from teachers to art. From remains they were able to establish when it was shipped from Greece. Before completion of museum, statue was on world tour.

Experiencia fantástica: We were very pleasently surprised with the museum. You get plastic "slippers" you need to be wearing around the museum. There are a few rooms to see before you get to the room with the statue. When you get to the statue, you are escorted to the room by an employee who is in with you since you are not allowed to take photos and, of course, touch the statue. At the end, you can buy the souvenirs.

Experiencia fantástica: Although the entire museum is build around one statue from antic Greece it has plenty of content worth seeing. I definitely recommend it. Price of a ticket is 10 euro.

Experiencia fantástica: Museum well worth a visit. Throughout the museum you follow the story of Apoxymenos from his beginnings as a sculpture to his beginnings as a museum exhibit. In the end you meet face-to-face with the magnificent Apoxyomenos where you can enjoy all of his perfections and imperfections.

Experiencia fantástica: We had low expectations of a museum built around 1 exhibit but we ended up enjoying it. It's one of the best thout out museums I've seen. The whole story of how the Apoxyomenos was found and restored builds up to seeing the actual statue. We were able to see the it up close at the end and enjoyed our visit. I would recommend it.

By entering the museum, the story of Apoksiomen slowly grows to the final culmination when you come to the grandiose statue. However, the statue can only be seen through the opening but it is still worth to visit museum and see this attraction.

The museum is small (but not as small as one could think), extremely well organised, the preliminary rooms and exhibits are really interesting, the explanations are complete and comprehensible also for children. The statue itself leaves the visitor breathless.

Experiencia fantástica: I did not expect it but we spent more than an hour in a muzeum which in the end features a single sculpture. Admittance for adult is 75kn, 40 for a student. The museum is beautifully crafted into the whole building and gradually unravels more about the statue. In the end there is view of Mali Lošinj from second floor of the building. It is not cheap but I'm my opinion it is worth it.

Experiencia fantástica: Highly recommended this "museum". It's refreshing to go to a exhibition focused on just a single statue. It takes you through how it was discovered, recovered, researched, renovated, what likely happened and so on. As. Result you get a pretty good understanding of what has to happen so that such a statue can be displayed.

Experiencia fantástica: One of the best preserved bronze statues in the world stands in the town of Mali Lošinj. The build-up of the exhibition is masterfully executed. First they take you through the history of athleticism in ancient Greece and their rituals of cleaning in particular - Apoxiomenos is after all an athlete cleaning himself with an instrument called strigil. The climax of the exhibition is the statue itself in the middle of a white room for 5 minutes at most. And it is impressive. Well worth 75 kunas to see a piece of ancient history first hand.

Experiencia fantástica: This award winning museum located in grad Mali Lošinj features a magnificent bronze statue of Apoxyomenos who was discovered in the seabed near the island of Lošinj. The first, cool and darkened section of the museum set the scene by representing the temperature and look of the sea floor where Apoxyomenos was found. There were interactive information displays detailing the origins of Apoxyomenos, his discovery, being recovered and raised from the sea floor, painstakingly restored and repaired and an analysis of his construction approximately 2000 years ago. As one progresses through the Museum it becomes apparent how significant a find this relatively well preserved specimen is. Eventually, as you ascend through the floors, one finally catches a glimpse of Apoxyomenos himself. Reaching the top, majestic in his climate controlled room, you are finally confronted with the mighty ancient Greek athlete. Definitely worth a visit. Allowing him less than an hour is an injustice.

Although the museum actually has one item - the sculpture found in the sea, the idea of museum itself, its interiors and all the information around the statue, visualization how much work it takes to bring out its beauty from the thick layer of lime and organic matter really impressed me. Experiencia fantástica: Excelent museum. It offers a lot. Croatia proudly presents his Apoxyomenos. One of the last five in the world. Here you can find out about the finding and restoration of the Apoxyomenos. If you ar visiting the island Lošinj then this attraction is a must see!

Experiencia fantástica: We were there in November so we happened to have a guide only for both of us. The museum is cleverly built on purpose to see the statue, and you discover at the end of the visit this artifact that did stay more than 2000 years in the sea and presented in an almost spaceship settings, it's very touching and moving. Great experience.

Experiencia fantástica: Very well thought out arrangement of the rooms, the themes and the build-up of atmosphere. It starts slowly with the background of the ancient Greece, after that how and where they found the statue and in what condition it was - they make you familiar with everything and prepare you for your encounter with the statue. When you take your time to read everything it will be such a magical and overwhelming experience once you meet 'him' - I was so touched that I couldn't hold back the tears he was so perfect and so beautiful! I will definitely come back and I recommend this to literally everyone! Thank you for this amazing experience!
