🗣️ Museo Arqueológico de Corinto Antiguo: Opiniones
Experiencia fantástica: Wonderful
Experiencia fantástica: We had an excellent local guide who explained the Beautiful history of Corinthian history
Experiencia positiva: Great museum worthy of 5 stars but for the Kouroi. I'm all for no flashes, courteous photography, even paying extra but if you can't sell your merchandise that's your (bad) business.
Experiencia fantástica: We came here at the end of September hence there weren't many tourist there. It was still 29/30°C hot, though. The Apollo temple is beautiful and it alone is worth a visit, especially when you're into greek stuff. You also have the possibility to enter the small museum inside the archaeological site. The ticket for entrance is free for people from eu countries under the age of 25. Normal price is 8€. Nearby there are a few restaurants and a mini market.
Experiencia fantástica: No words. A must see. It is beautiful.
Experiencia fantástica: Magnificent ancient and medieval archaeological site and the location of the Temple of Apollo. The site itself is well documented. The historical museum contains many artifacts that you can study very closely. There is a modest fee of 8€ (2022 rate) and plenty of staff to answer questions. I highly recommend stopping here if you are nearby.
Experiencia fantástica: Absolute must if you are in corinth. Some shade, but not a lot so if hot and sunny, a hat is essential. Site is incredible, with lots of elements still standing to give you a sense of this important ancient city. The museum is good, and some parts are really well thought out and interesting.. Which is kinda rare in the museums attached to the sites.
Experiencia fantástica: Beautiful museum and ruins, quite underrated but greatly preserved. Must visit it, at least for the mosaics and info about corinthian lifestyle. Fascinating!
Experiencia fantástica: It's a must visit site. The history is just awe inspiring. There are plenty of eating places right outside the exit gate in the little village.
Experiencia fantástica: Very interesting and historical place.
Experiencia fantástica: Small but well formed museum near the entrance of the ancient site. The building is 4 wings based off a central courtyard. A must when in the area sume interesting displays
Experiencia fantástica: Great collection, unique history, nice staff...breath taking pieces
Experiencia fantástica: The Archaeological Museum of Ancient Corinth was constructed between 1931-1932, with intentions to display the numerous recent archaeological excavations. The museum is located within the archaeological site of Ancient Corinth, Greece, and lies under the jurisdiction of the 37th Ephoreia of the Greek Archaeological Service. The building was designed by architect Stuart Thompson, constructed by the American School of Classical Studies in Athens, with respect to a generous donation made by Ada Small Moore. Thompson’s design of the museum derived from the architectural model of the “Chicago school”. In 1951, the west part of the building was extended, allowing space within the museum to be organised around two atriums.
Experiencia fantástica: Great finds all in one place! Definitely worth the visit!
Experiencia fantástica: The collection of statues and pottery found at this museum is truly beautiful! It’s amazing to see the level of detail that the artisans of Ancient Corinth could capture in their pottery and statues. It is almost unbelievable how well preserved some of these pieces are. The remains of the agora and temples are impressive to see as well.
Experiencia fantástica: Definitely worth a visit! The museum was small, but there were so many amazing things to see in there! They had very detailed statues and even skeletons to see. The archeological site has quite a bit for you to see, along with signs to read about the places, so you know what’s going on, even if you don’t have a tour guide.
Experiencia fantástica: We didn’t expect it to be THAT good. Small but informative. Nice and friendly staff. Many interesting and unique statues and reliefs. The ticket cost is included in the price of the Archeological Site of 12€ for an adult and twice reduced for children.
Experiencia fantástica: Fantastic museum along with the whole area don’t miss it
Experiencia fantástica: Very interesting Museum of Culture. Really enjoyed the few hours we had th
Experiencia fantástica: Amazing views and so much history!
Experiencia fantástica: Really nice to see it, and read about the different things! Beautiful place!
Experiencia fantástica: Fantastic glimpse into ancient corinthean culture! Wonderful artefacts from later periods as well. Remains of ancient streets and squares really give you a feeling of time travel...
Experiencia fantástica: Great experience walking through the town where Paul the Apostle preached and was tried. Would recommend to anyone interested in biblical history.
Experiencia fantástica: Great place but a lot of tourist bus
Experiencia fantástica: From wikipedia - Corinth derives its name from Ancient Corinth, a city-state of antiquity. The site was occupied from before 3000 BC. But historical sources about the city concerns the early 8th century BC, when Corinth began to develop as a commercial center. Between the 8th and 7th centuries, the Bacchiad family ruled Corinth. Cypselus overthrew the Bacchiad family, and between 657 and 550 BC, he and his son Periander ruled Corinth as the Tyrants. In about 550 BC, an oligarchical government seized power. This government allied with Sparta within the Peloponnesian League, and Corinth participated in the Persian Wars and Peloponnesian War as an ally of Sparta. After Sparta's victory in the Peloponnesian war, the two allies fell out with one another, and Corinth pursued an independent policy in the various wars of the early 4th century BC. After the Macedonian conquest of Greece, the Acrocorinth was the seat of a Macedonian garrison until 243 BC, when the city was liberated and joined the Achaean League. Nearly a century later, in 146 BC, Corinth was captured and destroyed by Roman armies. As a Roman colony in 44 BC, Corinth flourished and became the administrative capital of the Roman province of Achaea.[3] In 1858, the old city, now known as Ancient Corinth (Αρχαία Κόρινθος, Archaia Korinthos), located 3 kilometres (1.9 miles) south-west of the modern city, was totally destroyed by a magnitude 6.5 earthquake. New Corinth (Nea Korinthos) was then built to the north-east of it, on the coast of the Gulf of Corinth. In 1928 a magnitude 6.3 earthquake devastated the new city, which was then rebuilt on the same site.[4] In 1933 there was a great fire, and the new city was rebuilt again.
Experiencia fantástica: Very much enjoyed our time at the museum. Such a beautiful location.
Experiencia fantástica: At the entrance of the archaeological site is the archaic temple of Apollo built in 530 B.C. At present, only seven pillars remain standing. These too were the only visible construction before the excavations. The museum houses a large collection of artifacts of the local archaeological site. Exhibits include statues, mosaics, pottery, and sarcophagi. This was built in 1931 and had an expansion in 1950. My favorite part of the museum is the room with statues of Roman rulers, floor mosaics, wall painting and Roman and Byzantine pottery. It's a good thing that we were there early (the museum opens at 8AM), so there were only a few people. Kudos to the museum staff who were all helpful and well-versed about all that the museum had to offer.
Experiencia fantástica: Fascinating ancient ruins outside with interesting and informative boards and an awesome exhibit inside the museum.
Experiencia fantástica: The museum is much better than we expected it to be. Entire site is undervalued!
Experiencia fantástica: I have been here twice and just love visiting. There are a lot of interesting sites in and around the museum so be sure to stop at them all. Inside is a lot of the smaller and delicate items while outside you can see the remaining portions of the old city. For those studying New Testament history, you can find some of the remnants of the Apostle Paul's visit here recorded in Acts 18. A tour guide is recommended but you don't have to get one. But there is a lot here and without someone who can explain it to you, you may miss some things. It can get hot at certain times of the year so bring a hat and some water. Afterwards you can just walk down to some local shops for cheese, bread, and fruit for a snack to take when you visit Acrocorinth (because you should visit it too).
Experiencia fantástica: The Magnificent Museum of Ancient Corinth !!! The museum here is top notch and full of fabulous finds that will absolutely have enriched your life to have seen and experienced in person, and the treasured memories you'll make here will be precious pieces of your personal wealth for a lifetime. Also, this particular area is radiantly rich with many excellent archaeological sites that are just a short to medium drive away such as the Acrocorinth, Ancient Nemea, Mycenae, Tiryns, Palamidi Fortress, Epidaurus, Heraion of Perachora, Temple of Isthmia and more.... Enjoy my friends :)
Experiencia fantástica: A great museum that you must visit if you are in the area! The walk around the museum is beautiful and you can really appreciate the history because it's not overcrowded. The ticket is half price (4€) in the autumn and winter months.
Experiencia fantástica: Really beautiful and quiet museum filled with amazing statues and archaeological digs. Unlike other Greek museums you are allowed to take photos with the understandable exception of the human remains. There are some amazingly detailed busts and ceramics, truly worth a visit.
Experiencia fantástica: It's really great! It has statues, atifacts and ruins of the ancient Corinth, apparently where it actually existed. It's like a journey back in time!
Experiencia fantástica: An impressive archeological museum and site as well of the very powerful city-state "Korinthos" in ancient Greece! The museum has just open a new section with some additional findings! A great job was done with the display of the ancient statues-utensils- remainings and the information provided are very helpful and comprehensible! The stuff is helpful and gentle! Do not miss it, it's a great opportunity to spend some pleasant time at tge district of Corinth.
