🗣️ Museo de Escultura Cham de Da Nang: Opiniones
Experiencia fantástica: Very insightful complementary visit to My Son and the Marble Mountain, or also in its own right about vestiges of Champa civilisation (4th-13th centuries AD)
Experiencia fantástica: I was very surprised by this museum. It has a clear outline of the major Cham sites and does a great job explaining the wider archeological context and the imagery of statues in general. I left learning a lot more of the Cham historic context, which I knew nothing of (I only visited My Son), and a lot about Hinduism and Brahamistic religions in general. Definitely recommend spending at least an hour here.
Experiencia fantástica: Very informative & well-structured museum. They have audio guide which is so nice. I have very little time here so maybe will go back later.
Experiencia fantástica: It is located in the center of the city, so it is easy to move around and parking is convenient. The entrance fee is 60,000 VND. It is a precious place where you can see another history of Vietnam. I recommend visiting it at least once. It is a bit hot inside because the air conditioning is not working in the April heat.
Experiencia fantástica: I really enjoyed my visit here, amazing Artefacts and great Audioguide! Pity the sign for the Audioguide is halfway into the museum.
Experiencia fantástica: Let you know Chem people's history .many similar Indian stay
Experiencia fantástica: Very nice museum with old religious folk art!
Experiencia fantástica: Great selection of Champa artifacts and write up. Highly educational. Would suggest visiting before heading to My Son
Experiencia positiva: I loved it. Kids were bored. It's exactly what it says, an old school museum of ancient sculpture with small written plaques next to each saying what they are. As adults I found it interesting and helpful before we head to My Son, but it will not engage young kids for any length of time. It would be nice to see a bit more of the history of the Cham people used to contextualise the sculptures
Experiencia positiva: If you like historical artefacts, this is the place to go. The Cham minority group were wiped out by Vietnamese after their leader was offered the hand of a princess, then using the pretext that she was not well treated, the Vietnamese invaded the Cham Kingdom, including destroying their residences and temples. Indeed a sad tale but one which is really common across many countries. The museum is clean and quiet, the artefacts are not all whole, some are just feet, head without body, headless, etc. Fascinating that the Cham people worshipped Shiva the destroyer. His shrine is everywhere as well as Parvathy, his wife. The strong Indian influence is evident in the sculptures. The museum is located directly across the tail of the dragon Bridge. Heaps of restaurants and cafes along the opposite street.
Experiencia fantástica: The largest collection of Cham relics in the world. Amazing collection with a fascinating insight into the rich history and culture of Indian legacy in Asia.
Experiencia fantástica: I visit regularly. Magic place. Brilliant when the tour groups leave... Great museum, sort of Nepal by the sea... So many Hindu images reminiscent of Kathmandu. Really worth a visit. High standard items very well exhibited. My favourite museum in Vietnam.
Experiencia fantástica: Extensive collection of beautiful Cham-art. A place worth visiting if you find yourself in Da Nang and are looking to immerse yourself in Cham history for a few hours.
Experiencia fantástica: Great little museum, with an excellent collection of high quality Cham sculptures, oftentimes in remarkable good state of repair. Since the latest renovation the objects are very nicely presented, with lots of information about the different locations of Cham culture (My Son just one of them) and individual works. To put the argument about not enough information in English to rest I add a selection of the general information panels and those explaining particular objects. Lastly: the price for admission (January 2020) is 60k VND.
Experiencia fantástica: A very reasonable entry fee for a view into Vietnam's ancient history. The museum features some wonderfully preserved sandstone carvings of Hindu and Buddhist influence from the Cham civilization. The museum offers a free public WiFi service allowing you to connect to a website featuring a free audio tour activated by QR codes situated near the the artefacts so be sure to take a set of headphones when going to the museum.
Experiencia fantástica: Magnificent museum, deceptive exterior that does not reflect the high quality exhibitions inside, audio guide in 3 languages.
Experiencia fantástica: With their roots dating back as far as 192 AD, Vietnam's indigenous Cham people lived an Indian way of life in both culture and language. The Cham Museum in Danang is dedicated to this period and the Champa existence which began predominantly in the coastal areas of Vietnam. Housing the largest exhibition of Cham sculpture in the world, the museum displays almost 300 terracotta and stone works of art ranging from the 7th to the 15th centuries. Many of the exhibits are considered masterpieces of their field showcased according to the region in which they were found with a total of ten separate interior exhibition rooms. All of the sculptures on display fall into one of the following sections – icon, pedestal, pediment, or fragment, with the area in which they were found determining where they are exhibited. When you've finished browsing the internal creations, step outside to appreciate the building itself carefully crafted with objects of worship including idols and holy animals surrounded by flowers, leaves and turrets all symbols of hinduism
Experiencia fantástica: Impressive museum! The art of Champa originates from the Hindu. Wonderful Champa architecture! Wonderful Apsara art! Tears for a nice nation was perish! We came back here few days ago! Still beautiful the art of Champa. Many new objects. Such a eternal beauty.
Experiencia fantástica: Summary: a nice and good museum! Good English translations. Comfortable lighting. Recommended for anyone enjoying museums, and wanting to see sculptures and architecture of My Son, and typical of the region at the time of Angkor Wat and others. Interior = interior and set up is well-thought out, overall good lighting, nicely illuminated objects, enjoyable building layout with many separate spaces to walk. Location = west of river, just next to Dragon bridge. Air / sound = some fans, no too loud if few visitors. Someaht hot, no air cons. Information = short, consice and informative descriptions (with regards to sculptures), nicely designed information boards. My first visit visit to a museum in the country. I enjoyed it. Having visited My Son south of Da Nang, and Angkor Wat in Cambodia, it was a good reminder and like a revisit but in a museum with more info.
Experiencia fantástica: A place worth to visit. It's the history of Vietnam. The scriptures shown the influence of Chinese, Indian etc in Vietnam back from 100+ years ago. Some of the scriptures are well maintained by the museum.
Experiencia fantástica: This museum is a small gem of Cham history in Vietnam. After visiting the Mý Son ruins during my last visit, I decided to see the artefacts from this site in the museum, and other locations in central Vietnam. I was not disappointed. Recommend this to any cultural traveller.
Experiencia fantástica: I found the exhibits here really fascinating. The sculptures are incredibly beautiful and full of life, even amusing at times (to modern eyes). It was an excellent complement to our trip to My Son. I did a little research before we came about the history of Vietnam, the Cham, and the "Indianization" of Indochina and I think all that served to orient us better. There were books available at the giftshop, but they were labelled with prices twice as high as those at the My Son gift shop, so we passed. There was a photography exhibit on the second floor of the museum with beautiful pictures of life from all over Vietnam, and well worth seeing.
Experiencia fantástica: Lovely museum - entry fee is 60K no matter if you’re a student, child, or whatever else works. The museum features a wide variety of sculptures from the Cham tribes, with a lot of Buddhist influences. Also shows traditional crafts and insights into the Cham way of life. The museum is quite large and has many galleries, some also showing beautiful photographies of Vietnam. Worth a visit for sure! Just be aware that there isn’t any aircon - fans for sure, but it can get quite hot.
Experiencia fantástica: Enjoyable museum with great artifacts from the Cham era. No AC so be ready to roast like a coffee bean in hot months! 2 hours more than enough time. Worth the 60k ticket.
