Experiencia fantástica: Beautiful old house refurbished into a museum of Ando’s selected work. If you visit Naoshima for Ando’s architecture works, this is a must-visit. The space feels sophisticated that several rooms are enlightened by the natural light in different ways. The ticket to the museum is 550 yen for one adult.

Experiencia fantástica: I am an Ando fan, and I highly enjoyed visiting the museum. while small, the information, models and photographs were informative and written from ando's perspective. the underground capsule was really cool, even in the dark. the museum itself was beautiful, combining a traditional Japanese house with ando's signature concrete aesthetic.

Experiencia fantástica: I don’t quite get the negative reviews. This isn’t a huge museum, do people expect 300 different models and Ando’s entire history or something? Price is to me reasonable. The museum seems to be an introduction to Tadao Ando for people who don’t know much about him. It’s also best to visit the Benesse house and other works of his on the island before coming here.

Many works based on the concept of light were found.Under the ground, we can enjoy artworks of light. Because of the concrete space, it is a building that gives us a sense of coolness in summer. Personally, I liked work the most in Naoshima.

Experiencia positiva: Be surprised. Upon entering this century old house, the interior is transformed with a complementary concept, to co-exist - old & new, old wood & concrete, light & shadow. Probably the better time is to visit when the sun is low, as sunlight streams through the slits of the house to provide varying spatial experience. Within, there are showcases of various sketches and photographs of the Ando's projects. Autographed copies of his book on Naoshima are available here. Note that no photography is allowed inside the museum.
