Experiencia fantástica: This was no brainer to visit for €3 with my student’s discount. There are 3 floors: the top one talking about each mineral, the ground floor about the mining history of Milos, and the basement showing videos of the locals who used to work in the mines. It was touching when the video showed the former workers, mostly elderly visiting the museum when it first opened. It’s such a wonderful way to keep their legacy alive. You may, like me, start to find beauty in the rocks and minerals on display. After all, they are the reason why Milos has such unique landscapes! The postcards sold in the museum shop are also beautiful.

Experiencia positiva: If the geology and rocks of Milos appeal to you, you will find it interesting. Well designed modern exhibits with blissful air-conditioning. We particularly enjoyed the magnifying glasses for looking closely at mineral textures.

Experiencia fantástica: Is a museum that teaches you the rocks and introduces you to the art of miners and how difficult it was at that time. A jewel for the island of Milos and with a large collection of Obsidian and a wonderful shop with various items to buy. I recommend it .

Experiencia fantástica: Simply don’t miss the chance to visit. Don’t forget that Milos was and still is an island with a long mining history. Obsidian was exported to the rest of the known world since antiquity. You may visit the related site “nihia” (νυχια) near Adamas.

Experiencia fantástica: Definitely a must see before you do anything else on the island! There's such a rich history of mining here with many exquisite ores mined through time. It was nice to watch the films on the old miners reminiscing about their labourous but rewarding work they used to do. The beautiful Katalina was incredibly welcoming and had answers to all my questions

Experiencia fantástica: This is a must go museum in the beautiful island of Milos. A lot of rock exhibits with a lot of history and explanation. Some parts are interactive and also have audio tour. They have also a mini cinema with 14' videos with old mine workers sharing their experience. They have a mini gift shop with rocks all over the world. You have to visit!

Experiencia fantástica: Great experience to discover about the history of mining and about the rocks been exploited and still exploiting on Milos in the small mining museum in Adamas. Take some time and the audio guide which is available in most of the common languages. It is worth it!

Experiencia fantástica: This is perhaps the most intriguing museum I’ve been to in Greece! Fantastic, friendly service, and a plethora of information regarding the local rocks and minerals on Milos. It also informed my group on a hike to see the “Mushroom Rock” and where to find the “Obsidian Beach”; a beach where you can find natural shards of obsidian on. This ROCKed!

Oral history video of old miners talking about their work. Beautiful photos of the island, and suggested walking tours.

Experiencia fantástica: One wouldn't expect there would be such a well-curated museum in a small island such as Milos. But here it is. There are plenty of mineral samples and some that you're allowed to touch. Abundant information is provided as to the history of mining in the island and the geographical distribution of each mineral within the island. There's also a short film screening at the basement. Nice place to go after four consecutive days of outdoor activities.

Experiencia fantástica: Find out more about Milos as well as it’s rich mining industry in the past as well as now. Great! However, the movies were not being shown. Good to take audio guide if you get tired from reading. If movies are not available they can be watched online!
