Experiencia fantástica: I thoughroughly enjoyed this place. Although born in Manitoba, I am of German descent and going here, I was able to see the experiences of German settlers as the worked to establish a home, and community in the Petawawa area. This site is not always staffed with knowledgeable volunteers, but we were fortunate enough to have people reenacting day to day life, answering questions and telling us what each piece, tool etc did or was for. Often there is 1 guide speaking, or even just a self guided tour, where you are left reading from a sign, or from the pamphlet. I enjoyed seeing the model trains, using the scrub board, and ringer washing machine to hand wash and hang a dish towel on the clothes line. I laughingly donned the dunce cap in the school house and enjoyed pretending I was a pupil there. The Carpenter demonstrated turning a spindle, we saw and heard the 'Johnny on the spot' motor. I recommend that anyone who would like a window into this early life of our community and our country plan a visit to this site.

Experiencia negativa: There was no one available to give us a tour today, and we were not allowed to walk around alone. Very disappointing on our holiday.
Hello Rachel, thank you for leaving a review. We're sorry that your holiday did not go as planned. Unfortunately we have encountered an unexpected issue with staffing and had to close down tours today and for the remainder of the season. We are a group of unpaid volunteers working to maintain the village and are proud to show it off when we are able. Sadly, we had a staff member quit suddenly which has forced us to close down ahead of our originally planned date. If you'd like to give us another chance, we will be open for some events like the Artisan Markets on September 16th and October 14th, Halloween and Christmas. We will also be open again next summer for regular summer hours and tours. Experiencia fantástica: This hidden gem is larger than expected. Admission price includes a guided tour. Our guide was well informed and enthusiastic about Petawawa's history and the museum artifacts. A thoroughly enjoyable and educational experience. Well worth a visit if you are in the area. Tour took about an hour.
