Experiencia fantástica: This is a fantastic place to take kids! My kids absolutely loved the facility, the animatronic T-Rex was fantastic, very realistic, the playground is great, the displays are fascinating. We paid to do the fossil dig and gemstone collection, the fossil dig was great, staff was very knowledgeable and friendly. My children had a great time going through all the fossils, unearthing a T-Rex skeleton and were thrilled that they got to keep whichever fossil they liked best. The gemstones are nice as well, but my younger one didn't have much patience for it - my daughter loved it however. The only issue I had with it was that the water area had a significant amount of bleach in it, which could harm the kids hands & clothes, so I kept them in the dry section.

Experiencia fantástica: Another informative museum in the town. I would recommend Royal Tyrell Museum as it’s quite big and has different species sample, however, this one was good too.

Experiencia fantástica: Honestly better than the Tyrell museum for our kids (toddler, 3, 5). Digging for fossils (that you get to take home!!) Was epic, as well as sifting through sand to find little minerals and gemstones. Coloring area was also a huge hit. The dinosaur displays were pretty fun too for little kids. The animatronics were great. Most of them were good, but the T-Rex was amazing! Looked super realistic! Eyes, eyelids, skin, arms etc all moved and looked great! Honestly one of my favorite things to see in Drumheller ha.

Experiencia negativa: The store is great, but when you go into the museum itself, there is a dig area for kids. We were not told about it at the door or when we paid. The ladies sitting there were unhelpful and rude about it. My grand daughter was upset and I was willing to pay the extra for her to dig like the kids ahead of us. Communication upon entering so the kids can enjoy every thing would be great.

Experiencia fantástica: This is a must see for everyone! Give yourself at least an hour or more as this is so much more than just a shop as we originally thought. We were traveling with two young children (8 mo and 2 years) and regret that we didn't give ourselves enough time to see the museum in our short visit. Regardless, the shop is full of all types of fossils, minerals, and other gems that would make anyone happy. Plus the staff are super helpful and knowledgeable. Shout out to Anthony who really made our visit special. We are definitely going to come back next year when our kids are a tad older for that fossil dig! They even let you keep the fossils you find and are very reasonably priced. Make sure to stop by and check it out for yourselves!

Experiencia fantástica: We absolutely loved it here! I went with my 4 year old daughter and my mom, and we did the fossil dig and the mineral hunt. The animatronic dinosaurs were amazing, and my daughter loved the play structure inside and had so much fun doing the fossil dig. My mom and I enjoyed helping my daughter with the mineral hunt, which I feel is better for kids a little bit older than 4. The gift shop was reasonably priced, and the staff was super friendly. We will definitely be back

Experiencia fantástica: Great place to visit for more gifts. They have a small museum as well here. All kinds of rocks and minerals, for yourself or great gifts. They also ship as well so get a card if you see something you like but haven't made your mind up about.

Experiencia fantástica: This was my first visit and we took the grandkids ages 3 to 8. They had a terrific time. The dinosaurs are mechanical and look like they could just start walking around. Lots of things for the kids to do but also very interesting for us adults as well. It was a choice between the museum and here and with the small kids along this is the place to be. Go and enjoy as we did.

Experiencia fantástica: Huge thanks to Pat the manager! We purchased a large Dilophosaurus toy and when we got back home the sound maker unfortunately didn't work. Called and spoke with Pat and he sent us a new part in the mail with a few goodies to fix the issue. The staff there are all so kind and the value is great!

Experiencia positiva: Great place for young families with kids over kindergarten or kids who like dinosaur. They have great activities to teach kids about fossils, evolution of dinosaur, and about dinosaurs.

Experiencia positiva: Nice place to see "live" dino's. However it is pricy for what there is. We ended up being charge for our daughter who was only 2, but was too late by the time we realized. No big deal, but wish they would confirm first and not assume ages of kids. But it is a cool place just wish there was maybe a bit more going on.

Experiencia negativa: Terrible staff, extremely cheap gifts in gift store that are very overpriced, the sand in the fossil dog is disgusting and over priced to take home one fossil. Terrible experience all together and a very bad tourist trap never visit!

Experiencia positiva: Cool little place with a gift shop for kids. It was a bit overpriced for what it had to offer and was quite small. The inside exhibit of the animatronic dinosaurs was nice and had a little play area as well for the kids. You have to pay extra for the fossil dig and mining which really did not appear to be a that great should have been included in the price as it was so small and pricey to begin with. However travelling with 3 &5 year old they enjoyed so made it worth the money.

Experiencia positiva: Cool place but I don't think you get your "bang for your buck." We took our 4 kids, they enjoyed panning for minerals. But our older children found digging for fossils boring. They were done in 2 minutes. My 2 and 6 year old would have dug forever. It is definitely for younger children, roughly under 8. The girls working both activities honestly were useless. They didn't explain anything and when a member of another family asked a question and walked away the girl mocked her and was annoyed that they had to do their job. Extremely disappointed in the employees as they could make the experience so much more exciting for the kids.

Experiencia positiva: I went with my 7yr old and 10yr old. They each paid $32 for full package (admission / fossil digging and mineral mine). This place is very overpriced. Agreeing with a lot of other reviews, this place is small, and not really worth it for adults. It has this horrible cheap plastic smell in the whole museum, I’ve stayed there for a little over an hour and it gives me a headache. The playground, as others mentioned, it’s just like a playground from McDonald’s, it’s extremely small, and my 7yr old complained that it’s dark and creepy so he didn’t wanna play. My seven year old was also not very comfortable because the dinosaurs are roaring every second… Now why I still give it 4 stars? Because my kids had a lot of fun. I may not understand why, but I know they are very happy to ‘dig’ fossils and minerals. Even now we got home they are sorting the stones :) so .. I guess it’s worth it =p

Experiencia negativa: They have awesome animatronics don't get me wrong and they've got some cool stuff in the gift shop, but the gift shop is extremely expensive! me some family went and payed to look for rocks in the little pools they have, and my nephew got to search for sone fossils in the sand pits, but my sister and I went to the pools to look for rocks, the pools were dirty(which is understandable as kids play in it) but it smelled so bad! we saw there was a sign that said “treated with chlorine” so we didn't think much of it but after we washed our hands and left they still smelled and felt very rubbery.. which is a thing that happens with bleach water, not confirmed but its been four hours and they still reek of bleach! so dont play in the water for too long and dont get it on your clothes!!! it bleaches them!!!! AND DONT PLAY IN THE WATER WITH CUTS/SCRATCHES!!! other than that we had a blast and took home some cool gems and a small fossil(you're only allowed to take home one you find from the sand pit) enjoyable while we were there but didnt stay long as we were all extremely dizzy from the “bleach water”…

Experiencia positiva: I took my family to Fossil World to see the animatronic dinosaurs. The price of admission is a little high for what you get to see, but I imagine that is the cost of staying open. There are some fun things for kids to do at an extra cost, such as fossil digs, but we did not participate. There's a small play area for kids, and many neat fossils to look at. The highlight for me was the Megladon jaw, which the Royal Tyrrell museum does not have. The gift shop was great, better than the Royal Tyrrell gift shop in my opinion, as there are some pretty neat fossils available for purchase. It's worth a visit.

Experiencia fantástica: Revisited as an adult. It was really nice seeing it again. We came for the Easter weekend, and there was an egg hunt for the kids as well, which was nice.

Experiencia negativa: Cool shop, but the older woman working was kind of snobby and rude. Spooked my fiancé half to death when she snuck up on us. We realized after a few steps into the museum that we were supposed to pay to go into it, but there was no staff or sign to tell us otherwise and the door was wide open. Our mistake. But then being rudely told that "we didn't pay her" to go in was very rude. Do t think we will be back. Royal Tyrell is much more valuable to see.

Experiencia positiva: Only saw the gift shop (not the museum), but it was a really fun one to browse through. They had a lot of fun toys and figurines along with some beautiful fossils and minerals, including some made into interesting art pieces. A wide range of things to see and buy.

Experiencia positiva: Fossil World has some impressive animatronics... too realistic for some youngsters. The museum is small so I'm glad I only paid $8 per person. Lots of fossils on display, some very large. There is a play are to keep kids occupied while adults explore.

Experiencia negativa: This would be a good place to visit, but they are not enforcing COVID rules. The employee at the front desk wasn’t wearing a mask (wearing it under her chin, which is useless) and in the museum itself, most of the patrons were not masked. They absolutely need to enforce the regulations and are not doing so. Other than that, it’s….. fine.

Experiencia negativa: Read the pricing list and what's included not what your told by staff. Could end up being disappointing for the kids. The museum itself is great.

Experiencia positiva: Just a store with a bunch of stuff related to dinosaurs. They are feeding off the success of the Tyrell museum and have slightly more to offer than the gift store at the museum. Overall it's pretty average, but good selection of stuff if you have kids that want something to remember Drumheller and the dinosaurs by.

Everything was labeled and even though it was small it still kept us busy for an hour. Went here because the Tyrrell museum was closed. But had a great time here otherwise checking out the whole place.

Experiencia fantástica: Another great stop for the family! They have 11 animatronic dinos that the kids love (or fear lol). And they have a great little shop for people of all ages. Highly recommend. Only takes 15 min to go through, don't miss it!

Experiencia fantástica: Fantastic gift shop with real fossils of all sorts, sizes and price ranges. Replicas available too, nice clothing and toy selection, beautiful jewelry. Paid admission to get into museum section and "dino dig" for the kids in small groups with instructor helping. Panning for little colored stones and minerals in sluice boxes is there as well and the kids get to keep them. A must stop on your itinerary.

Most of them moving and interacting with people. The store also was really good as they have stones, fossils and artwork from all around the world

My kids did the Dino dig, two girls working there were not enthusiastic to be doing their jobs. Washrooms were clean. Ample parking all around. I suggest selling food…we would have eaten lunch there! Keep up the great work.

Experiencia negativa: Over priced gimmick. 8 bucks a head for a short 10 min loop. Rip off for the extras…24 dollars to add on a fossil dig…. My 3.5 year old Dino lover was less then impressed. And I feel robbed Do yourself a Favour. drive 3 hours North and visit Jurassic Forest. 70 animatronic Dino thought 2 km of paths. With free fossil digging in their sand pit. For about 15 dollars a head.

Experiencia positiva: Still mask mandatory here so keep that in mind. We are still masking as a family so it was nice to not feel ostracized for it. Though it feels like a tourist trap as you pull in, I found the prices reasonable for what you were getting. I was not looking at the large several thousand dollar fossils though, you'd need someone else's opinion on that. Grabbed shirts for the kids and postcards for the wife and I got some a/c for a half an hour. Overall, worth it. Many of the items you'd overpay for at the other museums gift shop were more reasonable here, just not branded with the other guys name.

Experiencia positiva: It was OK. The kids enjoyed it. Way to expensive though. Paid almost $200 for 4 kids and two adults. You don't have to do the activities like the mineral mining and the bone dig but once you get in there and the kids see the activities, because it's all open and the kids can see all the fun things to do, then they beg and beg and beg to do it all and you're out a bunch of money. Interesting stuff but for the price and the info I'd rather just go to the museum for half the price and all the info.

Experiencia positiva: Not much to see here. Unless you want to buy some authentic fossil souvenir. The only my kids enjoyed upon our visit is the indoor play ground. There are moving dinosaur inside. The reason for 3 stars is, the one who is on duty when we visit this place is a strictly rude! She get upset when we touch the sand when you do little mining of rocks. There is no written signage that is not allowed to touch when we enter the museum. We told her and she is not happy. We too. We're not happy with her attitude.

Experiencia negativa: We dropped in after the line up for the Royal Tyrrell gift shop was a half hour long and unfortunately were very disappointed. The "museum" is one large U shaped room, that took less than 10 minutes to go through at $8 per ticket. The add on activities are probably fun for children, but don't expect a full museum. They had hundreds of Dinosaur bones and teeth on sale at the gift shop and yet 80% of the museum displays were listed as replicas, it really made us question the authenticity of the ones for sale. Sadly I would not recommend. I also noticed some of the good reviews are actually pictures of the Royal Tyrrell, not this place!

Experiencia negativa: This location used to be a 4 star. But over the years I came here the old lady at the front is extremely rude to customers. Crashed my head into their dinosaur bench outside. No signs to even indicate the hazards. Ended up dropping my tattoo in a puddle of water. She ended up charging me for a new one, they had a lot left, and it was only $0.30. Took no initiative to see if I was even ok. The factor that made me the most dissatisfied with this place is the old lady's terrible attitude, and this visit absolutely disgusted. Won't shop or visit these businesses until this lady fixes her attitude or just ends up leaving her job. I've been a loyal customer at this location since it first opened its doors. This visit was absolutely disgraceful.

Experiencia fantástica: This was one of my kids favorite places in Drumheller. Fossil World is a must visit stop when visiting the Tyrrell, it's actually on the way to the museum. We bought some really beautiful fossils and minerals for a great price as well. The owner and staff are fantastic and took the time to explain every mineral and fossil the kids asked about. Highly recommend!

Experiencia positiva: There were plenty of cool fossil specimens and learning activities. The gift shop had lots of genuine fossils for sale, ranging from $5 to $5000 (what I'd give for an icthyosaur on my coffee table). And the animatronic, life-like T-Rex was awesome! Very frightening It was a little small, but a good complement to the Royal Tyrrell. If the other activities hadn't been closed off due to Covid, I'd be able to rate higher, but it felt like too short of an exhibit without those suplementary activities, especially to keep the kids entertained. Definitely worth stopping for if you are a dinosaur enthusiast like me :-)

However, the most recent visit on 9/7/2020, the store was relatively crowded, many people didn't care about distancing and it seems that the city/town(?) has no rule of wearing masks indoor. I didn't see any hand sanitizer at front, either. I wish the store could limit numbers of customers inside...

Experiencia negativa: Great animatronic dinosaurs and fun digging games for small kids. The rest of the museum is pretty small and with limited information. Expensive admission and gift shop. The final displays are focused on climate change denial -- very disappointing.

Experiencia fantástica: Fossil World is a great place to take the kids and pick up some unique souvenirs. I did not tour the museum during my visit this time, but there were some very happy sounding kids in the exhibit next to the gift shop. There are also lots of dinosaur statues outside the building, which are great for photos!

Experiencia fantástica: Was here back in Aug 2019. Made a quick stop in with the kids to see if they wanted any souvenirs. This place was clean and the gentleman working at the time greeted us right away. We were the only people in the store at the time as it was approaching closing. I appreciated how sales associate didn’t follow us and allowed us to look freely unlike some small businesses where they watch you like a hawk pressuring you to buy or suspect that you are stealing, especially since this store had some items that were on the more costly side of things. I would highly recommend visiting this place . There are a lot of super cool trinkets & souvenirs and the cute dino bench outside was a definite bonus!

Experiencia negativa: Very expensive, you'll probably spend a max of 15 mins inside. Thankfully we didn't spend the money of the fossil or mineral dig. There was a lot of very disappointed people inside. The Gift Shop is worth a look, but that's it.

Experiencia fantástica: Interesting shop to stop at, all sort of things to look at. Very fun place for the kids and families. The dinosaur museum was booked up weeks in advance, this a pretty nice alternative place to stop at, no waits or line ups.

Experiencia positiva: This place was great. The dinosaurs look completely realistic and the animatronics were great. There was a capacity limit to walk through but the wait wasn't long. The employees were all wearing masks which is really appreciated. They were helpful and friendly. The store did feel a bit tight as there were no floor markings to help with the flow of customers. It did feel overly crowded when there was an influx of customers walking through the gift shop. Half of the customers did not wear masks. It made my family and I uncomfortable enough to leave before we really got a good look at the gift shop. We will return again but only when its not busy.

Experiencia positiva: Very small and expensive if you do the fossil dig and mineral mining for the kids. The dinosaurs were neat but some were broken. The play center was closed due to covid, that made the museum visit very short, you can see the whole thing in about 15 min.

Experiencia negativa: Sign outside advertises a "Museum", they make you pay to see a robot dino, Might be enjoyable for young kids, but the signage needs an update. Gift store is alright.

Experiencia positiva: It was a little underwhelming, given that we heard that Drumheller was dinosaur capital the whole experience was a little disappointing. The place itself is ok, but coming from Ontario where we have dinosaur exhibit, I expected more.

Experiencia positiva: This is a fantastic place for young kids! Ours really enjoyed the pretend fossil dig and panning for minerals! I would say that if your kids are 12 or older, then they may not enjoy it as much. The only reason why I gave it 4 instead of 5 stars is because it's a little on the pricey side.

Experiencia positiva: What an excellent little gift shop, so many artifacts and gifts. Knowledgable and friendly staff. Lots of gifts for the kids. Best of all, ice cream! A great stop when visiting the largest Dinosaur in the world.
