Experiencia fantástica: Located on the ancient Acropolis of the city of Ioannina with a beautiful architecture and surroundings offers an analytical approach of the manufacturing of silver and other metal things. The presentation is excellent and there is also a temporary presentation of Greek Liberations' 1821 period of time against the Ottomans. In the end you can interesting gifts or souvenirs to buy from the small gift shop in good prices and enjoy a cafe.

Experiencia fantástica: I thought this would be a random local museum about something super-specific. Which it is, but usually those sorts of museums are fun and a bit pokey, good spots to pass a half hour. This place was NOT that, it was really well-designed and the exhibits were fabulous! The first floor walks you through how silversmithing is done, from getting the silver to the different types of finishing and designs, so by the time you get to the silver on display upstairs you can appreciate them in a whole new way! Fantastic!

Experiencia fantástica: A museum that everyone who comes to Ioannina shall visit. There couldn’t be a better place to host the permanent and very informative exhibition regarding the mastering of Silversmithing in the greater area of Ipeiros. Inside the Castel of the city on the top of a hill (Acropolis/Its Kale) in a small building which was serving as the Treasury at the time of Ali Pasas, the Ottoman ruler of the area, unique silver pieces as pots, bowls, belt buckles, jewelry etc. can be viewed. They are all labeled in Greek and English providing details of how and when were created. The Byzantine Museum as well as the Fetiye Mosque are in a very sort distance and can be visited too.

Experiencia fantástica: Do not forget to visit this small but great MUSEUM of Ioannina... In our eyes it was the surprise of the city... If you are lucky and you there is a nice day, a coffee out of 5he museum, staring at the castle is a MUST DO.

Experiencia fantástica: This is the third Piraeus Bank-built and -operated museum that we’ve visited in Greece. (The other two were on the islands of Toni’s and Chios.). Each time we’ve been impressed with the professionalism, cleanliness and world-class feel of the museums of this group. Not only do you see artifacts of Epirus’ silversmithing past, but via videos, charts and displays you come away with a clear understanding and appreciation for the origins and intricacies of this age-old craft. We heartily recommend a visit. However we caution potential visitors to enter the Its Kale main entrance on foot. There is a bit of a walk required to get to that portion on the former fortress grounds where the museum is located. When we tried Google Map’s directions we were guided to a location ON THE OTHER SIDE of the Its Kale’s walls from the museum! Google needs to correct this.

The interactive way they are depicting the old craftsmanship of silversmithing is so interesting. Definitely a must visit if you are in Ioannina!

Experiencia fantástica: Very cool museum! There are very good explanations both on boards and on multiples videos, and they are in English! There is also a memory game of the visit, you can play it on the PCs of the upper floor after the main tour is finished. Bonus point: if you are an EU student the entrance is free!

Video documentaries illustrate techniques and there are interactive edugames and info screens in Greek and English to make sure you make the most of your visit. Interesting for young and old alike , it is definitely worth a visit if you find yourself in Ioannina, along with the rest of the unique acropolis.

Experiencia fantástica: The museum tour was very educational and interesting. There were several rooms with silver smiths instruments you can touch, interactive map of Epirus silver smiths migration through Europe, educational videos. If you speak Greek there is a computer room with interactive games. The museum is air conditioned which makes it a really nice break stop.

It is absolutely stunning how they managed to display the history of silversmithing in a very interesting and interactive way which is engaging and fun at the same time! Furthermore, the building is absolutely gorgeous and the whole exhibition has been put together with a lot of attention for details and passion!

Experiencia fantástica: A museum about the large local history on silver and gold making. The museum is housed on a beautifuly renoveited part of the castle on a nice surrounding for a walk. It has two floors, one for the technique of julery making and one exhibiting the collection artifacts. The museum exhibition is really modern nicely presented without tiring the guest, the staff is realy kind and helpfull. A nice place to visit especially combined with the other museums of the castl

Experiencia fantástica: Great museum. Walks you through the process of silver making and then shows you the silvermakers' craft. If you marvel at nothing else, look out for the filigree plate - I think it alone is worth the visit. A well-spent couple of hours just taking my time and then a coffee outside to finish the visit.

Whenever I pass shops now I can identify techniques like savati :) lovely, neat and modern museum, plus the staff are really friendly. 3 euros for adults, 1.50 for concessions.
