🗣️ Minas de Cobalto Skuterud (Blaafarveværket): Opiniones
Experiencia fantástica: The Skuterud Cobalt Mines were operated from 1773 til 1893 and were part of the Blaafarveværket. The cobalt was used as beautiful blue pigment in glass and porcelain. The company went bancrupt due to an economic crisis and the invention of ultramarin, a synthetic blue pigment. In 1968 all buildings and land once belonging to the Blaafarværket was taken over by the Stiftelsen Modums Blaafarveværk, lead by Kjell and Tone Steinsvik. They restored the old buildings, made parts of the mines accessible for visitors, founded an art museum, took care of the old archives etc. The cobalt mines are nowadays an important tourist attraction visited by thousands of tourists every year. The mines are located quite high up the Skuterudåsen hill. Several of the old buildings are now in use as museum with displays on the history of the mines. Access to the displays is free. A walk to the Nordgruvene (North mines) takes the visitor through a fascinating mining landscape, with several open day mines and large piles of waist rock. A guided tour through the underground mines is a magical experience. (At this point in time 7-1-2021 the location of the marker is wrong! The coordinates for the building where tickets for the mine tours are sold and where there is a restaurant are: 59.97196710337693,9.865669012069702) PLEASE FIX THIS GOOGLE!
