El Museo Helgeland se fundó en 2003. El museo es una fundación y tiene departamentos en 18 municipios en Helgeland. La fundación está regulada por la ley de fundaciones. Las tres unidades más grandes del Museo Helgeland son: el museo Petter Dass, el museo Rana y el museo Vefsn, cada uno con un personal de entre cinco y siete personas. Las unidades más pequeñas, con 1-2 empleados, se organizan en dos áreas: el área norte, que incluye los departamentos de Rødøy, Lurøy, Træna, Nesna, Hemnes, Leirfjord, Dønna y Herøy, y el área sur, que incluye Vevelstad, Grane, Hattfjelldal, Brønnøy, Sømna y Bindal. Además, el museo tiene un departamento propio para la conservación de edificios, que sirve a toda Helgeland, con talleres y espacios de oficina tanto en Vefsn como en Vega. La administración y la dirección tienen su sede en Mosjøen.

Experiencia fantástica: Sehr schöne Anlage und die Häuser werden gut in Schuss gehalten. Der Charme der alten Stadt wird so erhalten. Wir sind abends durch gegangen gegen 21 Uhr.

Experiencia fantástica: The Museum is small in a house full of history, I am giving 5 stars because of the lady that works there that explained me all the history of Mosjøen. It was so interesting to hear how it became a town. Also she let me in on a monday when they are supposed to be closed. Honestly I would go to the museum again just to have a chat with her, she also explained me a couple of things about the Norwegian society and answer to many of my questions. She is the highlight of the museum!

Experiencia positiva: En fond de fjord, un village cultive son originalité avec ses maisons sur pilotis, rouges et blanches comme on en verra d'autres aux Lofoten . Des fils tendus entre les maisons servent de présentoirs aux objets les plus divers, des jeans servent de jardinières, et sur la plage un bloc de granit creux d'où s'extraient deux bras tendus en offrande vers le ciel. Des fleurs partout, une chaise géante, une figure de proue de bateau sur la façade d'une maison et bien d'autres choses sont à voir.
