🗣️ Museo de Arte de Tucson: Opiniones
Experiencia fantástica: Cool inside, peaceful place to be
Experiencia fantástica: larger than it looks with a large variety of different artworks from a range of style. perfect air-conditioned activity in the summer.
Experiencia positiva: I find something I enjoy each time I visit
Experiencia fantástica: Great for how small it is Saw a wonderful Rodin sculpture Plenty of local/regional pieces as well
Experiencia fantástica: Definitely a unique experience. Absolutely loved how every segment flowed like a river to the next series.
Experiencia positiva: This museum is a hidden gem. Lots of indigenous art work, beautiful and thought provoking. Museum is easy to navigate for all visitors.
Experiencia fantástica: surprisingly big! there are two levels, and a little ramp down with some art as well! took about 2 hours to look at everything! really interesting pieces!
Experiencia fantástica: I went on mother's Day, it just so happened to be community day... AKA free day! What a great community resource. Everyone deserves to have access to art regardless of funds or ability to pay. As always the gallery was awesome. I love this place
Experiencia fantástica: This is a well kept secret, but what a gem! Super informative, very well laid out, nice and cool inside! Staff was wonderful, plenty of parking, and also handicapped accessible! Very cool displays! I learned quite a bit! Great for all ages!
Experiencia negativa: A lot of the art here is very modern and doesn’t say much to me. Tons of it was preachy, and promoted woke ideology. Some were just vulgar. There were a few pieces we enjoyed, but a much smaller amount than other museums in Tucson.
Experiencia fantástica: My wife & I enjoyed this museum. I can certainly say that this is not a boring museum. There is something here for everyone. You will find Native American baskets, pottery, and woven articles. Moving to more recent times, you will find photos and modern pieces of art, and some sculptures. The entire museum is completely designed for accessibility- no stairs necessary, you navigate between levels using wide cement ramps. The gift store is excellent. We have been to museum stores in Philadelphia, and I can say that this Tucson museum has articles that are much more interesting. Not everything is expensive, so you should certainly find a gift or memento of your visit. Also, checkout Cafe a la C’Art. You can access it through a door in the gift shop or from the street. I will review the cafe separately, but you are in for a treat - especially the deserts!
Experiencia positiva: Veterans & spouses get in for free! They had a lot of unique art.
Experiencia fantástica: Great place for a large networking event
Experiencia fantástica: Beautiful art, interesting variety as well. Great docents!
Experiencia fantástica: Really great selection of pieces! Very well-put together and nice staff. Must check out if in the area!
Experiencia fantástica: Tucson Museum of Modern Art's restaurant, Cafe Ala Carte, is exceptional. We have had lunch there many times and several years ago hosted the groom's dinner there for our son and daughter-in-law. The menu is varied, and creative and so well -prepared. Pastries are always fresh and delightful. I recommend Cafe Ala Carte for any small dinner event or just brunch or lunch.
Experiencia negativa: Absolutely was profiled by the tall security guard, just because of my tanned skin. The others were completely fine but this guy was only watching my group and a little kid when there were plenty of others. Every single turn I made, he would follow and it was disturbing and I couldn't enjoy anything in peace. I tested this by slightly moving out of view and he would slowly walk by and stare directly at me when going past. It got rather annoying because AS A COLLEGE ARTIST MYSELF, I wanted nothing more than to enjoy the art pieces with my friends without feeling like a damned criminal for looking at art. I enjoy the values of art but it's people like him who follow a specific person around just because of skin color, that make it sour. It was honestly disgusting. Also found that out when we went to the restroom and not even a minute later, he was back to following. I don't recommend coming here if you want to feel like a criminal. I felt nothing but eyes glued to the back of my head. I will say, here are a couple of my favorite pieces I did see when I was there though.
Experiencia fantástica: Excellent native American art display. All tastefully placed.
Experiencia positiva: Tucson Museum of Art (TMA) is conveniently located in downtown Tucson with multiple entry points (some of them do not lead directly to admissions). However, it is closed for two days each week, which may make your trip planning a bit tricky if you are not a resident. TMA does not have much European art that you typically see in art museums in the US, but its regional focus, such as the Latin American folk art exhibition, makes up for that because you don't get to see this kind of art too often. The Museum's Pre-Columbian collection is very good, though some interesting pieces of work were not on view when I visited. The main criticism from my visit to the TMA is that in a significant number of display cases, the artworks are not numbered, rendering it difficult to match objects to their corresponding label text at times. Additionally, as a quibble, I feel that seating is few and far between in some of the galleries. On the plus side, exhibit labels are generally quite well-written. Overall, although a modest admission fee is required to get into this museum, it makes a good escape from the desert sun for one or two hours. And did I mention there's a lovely café attached to the TMA?
Experiencia fantástica: I really enjoy this museum. Both the permanent collection and the various special exhibits that come through on a temporary basis. I have to confess I'm more partial to the older "traditional" pieces vice modern or contemporary art. I also was blown away by the original artifacts/art work displayed from Central america/Mexico. Kudos to the staff for being friendly and professional while keeping a watchful eye on the collection. I love that the place is centrally located downtown near to other events or attractions or shopping/eating so it can be toured in conjunction with other things you might want to see or do or as a solo event depending on your schedule or interests.
Experiencia positiva: Beautiful little museum that contains many varieties of art and art forms. It is laid out in a wide spiral staircase, with each floor displaying different art forms. When you enter, they give you a little map and suggestions for best routes to follow. But you really don't need that as you get the hang of it pretty quickly. A very modern, clean building that is user-friendly. We did the entire museum in about 2 hours or so. Recommended
Experiencia fantástica: The displays of contemporary American art are superb, and the galleries that focus on the work of indigenous artists are outstanding. Paintings, sculptures and other media primarily from the Americas dominate the collection. The works are very engaging, you cannot help but want to read the information plaques to get background info on the artists' motivation. There's also a fantastic display of Mesoamerican art from Central America which features some incredible ceramics.
Experiencia negativa: Unfortunately, the Tucson Museum was closed when we finally got there after being lost— disappointing but we visited some of the craft shops and ate at JoJo’s’s
Experiencia fantástica: I took my whole family and I was surprised how much we enjoyed it. Don't forget the gift shop.
Experiencia fantástica: Great area lots of quality displays in museums I love this place
Experiencia fantástica: Really interesting piece with a diverse range of finds and history! Definitely worth spending the day doing the rounds and great for a date or outing with friends.
Experiencia fantástica: For a city of snowbirds this museum speaks to an affinity with the arts. We happened to go during the annual art festival (1st weekend in March) where the entrance fee is by donation. The museum includes a permanent as well as special exhibit. The outdoors sculpture garden is also worth seeing. While not huge, the museum can easily be seen in about an hour. It’s conveniently located, not far from downtown And near the courthouse
Experiencia fantástica: An amazing exhibition of different approaches to art from so many standpoints. The organization flows both chronologically and through the development of styles that really helped me feel a continuity in the works.
Experiencia fantástica: Brilliant. Great building. Great staff. Great art. And brilliant Indigenous pottery from 1000 years ago to the present day. Superb
Experiencia fantástica: Enjoyed visiting this museum during a weekend trip to Tucson. The staff were very friendly and there was a great collection of art. Took us about 1.5 hours to complete.
Experiencia fantástica: This art museum is fantastic! I loved the textile exhibit and how everything is laid out. You can tell the folks who put the exhibits together care a lot about cultural competence, telling multiple sides of a story, and inviting viewers to generate their own thoughts about the art. There is free parking on site and you can come in and out as you please. I found this art museum far more enjoyable than the Phoenix art museum, and for half the price! Can't wait to come back and visit again.
Experiencia fantástica: Lots of contemporary, SW, and Latino art. Be sure to go to the lowest level by the shop to see the amazing collection of indigenous artists. Not sure why the best is tucked away here but don't miss it
Experiencia fantástica: Great! permanent and temporary exhibitions. Also the adjacent bistro is fantastic.
Experiencia fantástica: My kids love to stay inside Because a lot of kids Room with different themes and can got education for them to learn too
Experiencia positiva: Outstanding collection of historic and contemporary art in many forms. Very comfortable setting and well organized.
Experiencia positiva: Had a great day visiting with my daughter's and seeing the museum
Experiencia fantástica: We bring Veterans from the VA Blind Rehab Center for a visit. Morgan and Nick are the docents who meet us and take the Veterans on an enjoyable and educational tour. The Veterans have mild to moderate vision impairment. Morgan and Nick are absolutely great with the Veterans, Thank You.
Experiencia fantástica: Great museum with many exhibits Textiles from South America are incredible. Native American exhibits are well done. There is a lot of variety at this small museum.
Experiencia positiva: Museum are partly hit and partly miss. For me anyway. So saw some interesting things here, and some that are just alright.
Experiencia positiva: Well maintained museum that's bigger than it seems. My favorites are the ancient pottery from tribes of Latin American, South America, and the Southwest.
Experiencia fantástica: Superb. Excellent museum.
Experiencia positiva: It was nice and we got to see some wonderful art. But I wish there had been more modern/contemporary art. I enjoy Incan and Mayan art and historical art as much as the next guy but I felt like that kind of thing took up too much space and it quickly started feeling like been here done that.
Experiencia fantástica: Actually went to an Arts Season Preview hosted by the Museum. Wonderful event to see what the Arts have coming this Season and a great chance to wander through this beautiful Museum to appreciate the exhibits. Some are permentant; many rotate on and out. Gorgeous Native American exhibits, Master works and Contemporary(I personally am not a fan of this genre). Lovely way to spend a few hours or more... Small restaurant on site as well.
Experiencia fantástica: You can't go wrong when you got Art. The cafe is chai is really good
Experiencia fantástica: A well curated museum that uses its space well to hide what's coming next. A lovely place to spend an afternoon
Experiencia fantástica: I really enjoyed the museum. Well worth a trip.
Experiencia fantástica: Had a great time at TMA, was loaded with great art, fun vibes, and a cool western themed building to house cool western themed art. Highly recommend visiting.
Experiencia fantástica: Really special place. Wonderful layout. Great staff. The art is inspiring and the space encourages you to find it.
Experiencia fantástica: A nice little spot with an incredible collection of Mesoamerican art comparable to what you'd find in a world-class museum. Definitely add this to your list if you're in the area.
Experiencia fantástica: An oasis in the desert. Much of it is underground and a lovely temp. The collection is as beautiful as the surroundings outside. My entry was free as a veteran.
Experiencia fantástica: a very chill space for quiet contemplation
Experiencia fantástica: Great museum for the grown ups. Handicap accessibility is available from most areas of the property.
Experiencia fantástica: I'm from out of town and wanted to go to an art museum in Tuscon and this museum was great! Beautiful art and interesting artifacts. I'd visit again
Experiencia fantástica: An important part.of the Tucson Art Scene. Well stocked gift shop featuring many local artists and many fun events year round for people of all ages.
Experiencia fantástica: 2nd Sundays are a wonderful experience for families. I absolutely love the TMA, but second Sunday's are my favorite
Experiencia negativa: They said that there was a wheelchair entrance but I have to cross the street and go and get lost and I just couldn't find it so I just left. So I don't think it's ADA Compliant because the streets are even horrible as well as the sidewalk
Experiencia positiva: It is such a beautiful space! Love the new addition! Love the sculptures in "the well"! The new wing is awesome and the new multi-use spaces across the courtyard are so beautiful!!
Experiencia fantástica: the museum was stimulating with different creations. But we learned if your car is over 18" from curb it will cost you$125
Experiencia negativa: Its DULL. There is no fun there. There is no there there. They’ve compromised the architectural integrity of the lower levels of the building by changing it. There is never anyone there. Trying to contact them for any reason is futile. It’s a shame Tucson can’t do better.
Experiencia negativa: If you're brown expect the security guards constantly following you or watching you. I experienced more than usual here. And this was before the kids started destroying the arts to make a point. Something made me want to share it here now.
Experiencia positiva: Contains a lot of stolen art from Mexico and Central America. Lots of stolen artifacts from graves. Most the artifacts are an incredible condition. The museum also has a western exhibit that's quite remarkable.
Experiencia fantástica: I enjoyed the artwork in this museum. Presented in a fresh way, with an interesting walk between galleries. I left with a new perspective and that's always nice!
Experiencia fantástica: Western art depicting horses and riders from diverse backgrounds was refreshing. We enjoyed the current display relating to New Mexico art from the early 1900's to early 1970's and info on Taos artists. The piano music by Coza was relaxing on this first Thursday in March 2023. Free 5 to 8 pm. Donations recommended.
Experiencia fantástica: Wonderful smaller museum with spaces for art from various genre and visiting collections. Free admission times are listed on their website. Allow at least 1 hour to see the space.
Experiencia positiva: Great display of artwork. Friendly staff, open walk ways, nice flow. Wide range of art styles and mediums. Some sculptural art in the outdoor areas. Great giftshop, and an attached restaurant. Make a dy of it, then take some time to explore all the local shops in walking distance of the museum!
Experiencia fantástica: The museum was donation based today And it has a lot of great work!
Experiencia fantástica: This is a wonderful museum with plenty to see. Military entry is free, which is a plus, and they offer several other entry discounts. The exhibits were interesting and intriguing, making it easy to spend several hours admiring the artwork. I would recommend to anyone who appreciates art and wants something to do indoors for a couple hours.
Experiencia fantástica: World class art museum. Although this is not the biggest museum, it is wonderful. What a great way to spend an afternoon. It’s located in the heart of downtown Tucson, many options for food and beverages nearby. Highly recommend.
Experiencia fantástica: We’re lucky to have such a fantastic art museum in Tucson. They have a wonderful permanent collection of contemporary art, Latin-American art, Western art and so much more. Expertly curated exhibitions, fun events for all ages, and just a beautiful space to explore. And the cafe is great too. Definitely worth a regular visit whether you live here or are visiting from out of town.
Experiencia fantástica: One of the greatest museums in the country. Wonderful architecture, incredible collection and extremely well curated! Never disappointed. Strongly recommend buying a membership if you live in Tucson or visit often.
Experiencia fantástica: Really neat museum and a great way to beat the heat as it is nicely air conditioned. The layout of the museum is in the spirit of a reverse Guggenheim spiral as the exhibits are arranged in rooms off of a ramp from the entrance down. Mostly SW art from various periods and cultures of the area but surprisingly several Rodin sculptures too. The sculpture garden outdoors was nice but it was just way too hot to be out there for long.
Experiencia fantástica: My granddaughter's first art museum experience. Thank you for the joy of finding colors and shapes.
Experiencia fantástica: What a nice little gem of a museum, great way to spend hot afternoon, immersed in historical and contemporary southwestern, Mexican, central american and Peruvian art. A must see on any trip to Tucson.
Experiencia positiva: Nice art museum. Well laid out, wide variety of exhibits to see. From ancient to modern era, it's a good spread of art to admire. Lots of different mediums to see. Doesn't take too long to get through everything (about an hour or two), though unfortunately the top floor was closed when my husband and I visited so we didn't get to see any European art, which I had been looking forward to, so that was kinda sad but understandable. The staff was nice and helpful. Overall, great spot for a date, we'll definitely be back.
Experiencia fantástica: I loved the architecture of the place, the pieces are amazing definitely you have to visit the museum.
Experiencia fantástica: Didn't get to see the whole exhibit as I was a vendor at the Mujeres Market yesterday. I can't wait to come back & explore the entire museum!
Experiencia fantástica: A great art museum housing modern work along with pieces from the past. An enjoyable experience!
Experiencia fantástica: Interesting permanent and temporary exhibits. Basketry and pottery collections were extensive and informative. The human sculpture collection ( modern) is amazing.
Experiencia positiva: Lots of really unique pieces - my 18 year old son loved it and took the longest! It was a great afternoon and good escape from the heat!
Experiencia fantástica: Love this museum top to bottom. Visit every time I am in Tucson. Versitile and diverse exhibits. Various locations within the museum...all spectacular exhibits representing various artists and mediums. Gift shop is super too...just sayin!
Experiencia fantástica: High quality museum located in the presidio district, one of the oldest parts of Tucson. Building has a small footprint, but is constructed like New York's Whitney, in a descending spiral that provides lots of exhibition. Several temporary exhibitions of contemporary art each year, but the jewel is the permanent collection, mainly of Meso-American art & art of Latin/South America - ancient statues, ceramics, baskets, textiles. Definitely worth visiting.
Experiencia fantástica: It is way larger than it looks! And the focus on Southwestern and local artists was excellent. It was truly enjoyable as it could be completed in a couple of hours, but hosts pieces from Mesoamerican times, all the way to current post-modern selections.
Experiencia fantástica: Beautiful Museum, smaller than the one in Phoenix, but definitely worth a visit. Lots of different heart, different genres, there’s something for everyone.
Experiencia fantástica: This museum is beautiful, and interactive. They're constantly updating exhibits, so you'll always have something new to see, but you probably won't get tired of seeing the permanent displays either. On their Family days, everyone gets in free!
Experiencia fantástica: A great sized art museum for a city of size of Tucson, with a collection including a variety of contemporary pieces -- and some staples of art history. Frequently changing exhibits will provide enough something new for each visit. Extremely friendly staff and volunteers The historic downtown block is, also, worth of taking the time to tour.
Experiencia fantástica: Wife and I came here for her birthday and absolutely loved the experience! We certainly have never experienced such a wide variety of art before, at one location. We're glad we were able to stop by before leaving the state. Would definitely come back for a new exhibit in the future!
Experiencia fantástica: A nice little spot with an incredible collection of Mesoamerican art comparable to what you'd find in a world-class museum. Definitely add this to your list if you're in the area.
Experiencia fantástica: Wonderful museum! Absolutely gorgeous exhibits. I hadn't been in some time and they've made updates to the museum and the gift shop. Highly recommend visiting TMA!
Experiencia fantástica: Historic site and interesting architecture. One never feels rushed or crowded in the museum and courtyard. Diverse collections. Loved western, latin american and indigenous art. Special exhibits have been outstanding and eye-opening. All modern or contemporary art are conversation starters. Tasty food in Cafe. Check out the gift shop. Public parking nearby.
Experiencia fantástica: Love this museum! I only got to explore a small portion during my visit, but the mesoamerican exhibit was amazing and it was also great to see the more contemporary art. The layout here is very clean and it was free for military. I will definitely be coming back to see what else is there and to read up more on art history.
Experiencia fantástica: I went yesterday to the museum's 2nd Sunday, it was free, and so much fun! Not only are the exhibits excellent, there was a dance performance. There were art projects for the kids,, (and some of us big kids) champagne! And again stunningly beautiful art. Go everyone can afford it, free on the 1st Thursday of the month, and the 2nd Sunday! You will be stimulated to create if you're an artist, and soothed if your're just an art fan. M
Experiencia fantástica: I have been a Narm member here for years. This is a small museum compared to the art museum in Phoenix but Tucson packs their rooms full of interesting art. The Phoenix museum is 10 times bigger in size but not in art.
Experiencia positiva: The Tucson art museum is lovely. I enjoyed visiting with my husband. We didn't realize how big the museum was when we arrived and would have preferred more time there. We will be back to visit.
Experiencia fantástica: My first time there. I was impressed with the museum itself, the building is gorgeous. A perfect setting for fine art...which there was some...you just had to look for it amongst all the other "stuff".
Experiencia fantástica: Wonderful experience. Cant wait to go back every month
Experiencia positiva: Beautiful building and display rooms. As for the name 'museum', it should more aptly be called a gallery or at the very least a museum of contemporary art. 95% of the work displayed was just that, contemporary. The remaining 5% were museum worthy art pieces by recognized artists and were certainly worth the admission fee. The curators and display staff might also consider rearranging the works to reflect more cohesively the raisons d'être of each piece not just its outward physical appearance or its country of origin.
Experiencia fantástica: My son surprised me for my 50th birthday. We enjoyed a pleasant lunch together at the cafe, even shared a "Perfect Margarita". Yummy! Afterwards, we went to the museum with no waiting in line. He was familiar with the museum due to being a student at the UofA. Plus researching one of the paintings. He let me peacefully look around read up on anything I wanted. Pointed out some things that I missed. I enjoyed everything. Some items I was familiar with. Which surprised him. And he surprised me about some that he knew about. It was a great learning experience for mom and son to explore together.
Experiencia fantástica: Lovely, not crowded, and enough content to fill a few hours without being overwhelming.
Experiencia fantástica: Honeymoon Island is a gem! Don't miss it. Easy to get to, adequate parking, good facilities, not crowded. The water was clear, light green with white sands. The water was not too warm with areas of cold areas. Waves were gentle, easy for kids to enjoy safely.
Experiencia positiva: It’s a nice fairly small museum but not tiny for the Tucson area. There’s a decent variety of forms and styles to enjoy, but it’s not the museum to visit if you’re looking for art of any true historical significance. It’s free to visit the first Thursday of each month!
