Experiencia fantástica: This museum is a great stop before you head off to explore the island. The museum delves into the history of the aboriginal people, the islands use during WW2 and even some more modern history regarding the islands use for world championship surfing events. We met one of the nicest guys here who worked behind the main desk and helped direct us to the bus station which is just a few meters from the museum. He also gave us some extra information about some of the exhibits and was really helpful. The building itself like many of the buildings on Rottnest was also a historical staple and was surrounded by quokka’s which we stopped to get photos with. If it’s your first time on the island give this place a visit before you head off exploring because it’ll give you some more context on the places you visit.

Experiencia positiva: An important memory of the post-colonisation history of Rottnest. Small but wide-ranging collection.

Experiencia positiva: Always interesting to learn the history and Wadgemup (previously known as Rottnest) has a history going back to the 17th Century. Beautifully renovated museum. Worth a visit in between swims and coffees.

Experiencia fantástica: A small museum to learn about the history of the island and its people. Free entry. They close quite early, so do take note of its opening hours.

Experiencia fantástica: Understanding the true history of Wadjemup gives you a full understanding of this magnificent island. The terrible past and the holiday present.

Experiencia positiva: Its a nice place to take your family. It is a historic place with a sad history behind it. They show a small video of the history behind it. You should definitely visit when you go to rottnest island. Remember in the back room there will be two drawers that you can open to see cool stuff. They are allowed to be opened otherwise you will miss them completely.

Experiencia fantástica: Very sad story told here . Well told though and a reminder of the injustice of colonisation.

Experiencia fantástica: This museum is an essential visit to really understand some of the history of Wadjemup / Rottnest Island. It is quite a small museum, I'd love to see a much larger one developed with more of the history, particularly the Aboriginal history.

Experiencia positiva: Rottnest island is a nice place to spend the time for beach, viewing, biking and exploration. However, the short day time they operate for the day is not enough. The last trip of their bus commences at 3pm, otherwise you can't go back home for ferry. Hence, your only option is to stay in the island for a number of days to enjoy and explore with friends. A single day is not enough, especially with their operational time.

Experiencia positiva: Wide place You can see some mice and snakes, try to take care. You can find many beach inside. Bicycling is the best choice in the island

Experiencia fantástica: A must-see if you want to know more about the island’s history. Amazing lady at the door who cheerily invited us in. Entry is by a gold coin (mainly it’s a form of gesture to contribute towards the maintenance of the island). Grab a vintage rottnest island postcard for another dollar, best souvenir we got from the island actually!
