Experiencia negativa: Totally disgusted. No museum parking, difficult to get to with road construction and afternoon with granddaughter a total bust. Why bother having museums when you can't get to them.
Experiencia fantástica: Loved it. Very interesting modern stuff and some beautiful catholic art from the 1600s.
Experiencia fantástica: Super museum. Excellent window into El Paso and regional culture. Don't miss it. Free entry.
Experiencia fantástica: Loved this free entry museum!! We took our time looking at every piece and it was better than museums we’ve paid for! The Selena features were unexpectedly informative and added an extra personal touch connecting it to such an icon who’s performed in El Paso. Would definitely come again.
Experiencia fantástica: I was very impressed that this museum actually had art displayed that was hundreds of years old.
Experiencia fantástica: I had a couple of hours to kill after work, and I decided to visit the El Paso Museum of Art. I was pleasantly surprised to find out that it was free! When I visited, there was a high school art competition with impressive paintings. The special exhibition on Selena Gomez was interesting, showcasing a nice collection of paintings, music albums and characteristic red dress. I also strolled through the galleries and the paintings that I enjoyed were the portrait of his wife by Manuel Acosta, ‘Sarah’ a portrait of the artist Tom Lea’s wife, as well as Gilbert Stuart’s portrait of George Washington. Overall, I highly recommend a visit to this museum.
Experiencia fantástica: I recently visited with my family from out of town and had an excellent experience at the museum. Despite there being a couple exhibits closed there is plenty to see from local high school talent to modern art. I especially want to express my gratitude towards a security guard (I think her name is Guerrera?) for helping my grandmother who needed a drink of water. When we first entered the museum we were told that there was no bottled water but a water fountain just around the corner. We walked over and hydrated ourselves before we started our self-guided tour of the museum. 30-45 minutes later the guard from before greeted us upstairs with a bottle of water for my thirsty grandma. I was so touched and grateful for her selflessness. I'll never forget it and will always recommend the El Paso Museum of Art because of it. Thank you.
Experiencia fantástica: Lovely museum and free! Broad variety of genres, but our favorite display was the high school artists who had entered the US Congressional art contest. Many of the pieces were professional quality.
Experiencia fantástica: If you’re new to El Paso, or looking for something fun to do this is a must! Exhibits are phenomenal with talented artists from local high schools and Juarez. Entrance is FREE and be prepared for some moderate walking. Also, visit their website if you’re interested in learning more about their affordable ceramics/ art classes.
Experiencia fantástica: Soooo glad we squeezed in a visit after our meetings while we were in El Paso! An amazing little jewel of a museum with a truly varied and moving collection. A must-see! Will visit again my next trip to the area
Experiencia positiva: Still accessible despite construction. The older art collections were impressive. The newer art was frankly ridiculous, with a few exceptions. I was glad to find a Remington among the paintings. We also enjoyed the temporary display of high school artwork. Sunday hours are a huge plus.
Experiencia fantástica: Good use of space.
Experiencia fantástica: Construction happening around the building. Went for the Selena exhibit. Nice museum. Free entry.
Experiencia fantástica: An interesting museum that offers detailed information about the people of El Paso by featuring their history and culture through art. It ain't no Getty, but an important fixture towards enriching the culture of El Paso.
Experiencia fantástica: Lovely experience for sure car meter FREE only on Saturdays/Sundays
Experiencia fantástica: One of El Paso’s best!!! A bright shining Jewel right smack in the middle of it all. Art exhibits are amazing, classes in water color, oil painting, ceramics and more. Staff is outstanding and extremely helpful. Highly recommend a visit here. If you come once, you will be back!!
Experiencia fantástica: Great collections, I'm glad we have the museums we do!
Experiencia fantástica: Took my girls for the first time and they enjoyed it to the max. Specially the Selena Quintanilla exhibition.
Experiencia fantástica: I didn't knew of this place but last weekend my wife , kid and my self went to explore downtown and find it. There are several expositions for a wide variety of styles preferences.
Experiencia fantástica: Superb free to visit museum with galleries on two floors. There are exhibits which include the work of young local artists and iconic religious art. However, the two most powerful collections are based on gender motivated violence and of art based on experiences connected to the nearby border, which are both excellent.
Experiencia fantástica: Awesome experience, so much beautiful inspiring art! I definitely would definitely recommend it. I really enjoyed the Selena Quintanilla Exhibit
Experiencia positiva: It is small, but they have art that appeals to different people.
Experiencia positiva: Mandatory visit to the Museum if you are in El Paso. Important painting galleries.
Experiencia fantástica: We went to see the Selena exhibit. And so many more interesting things to see about our present and past El Paso culture and events.
Experiencia negativa: Seems like El Paso and it choice of art is so death centered that I found it repulsive and sick. Museums are meant to enlighten and stir consciousness. I left, not eager to return. The Selena collective brought back memories of such a vivacious woman...died by murder from someone from her own culture and ethnicity. Our border dynamic is filled with immigrant stories yearning to be shared...of life. Let's tell the stories via art of survivors and those who win the fight to gain access to a richer, life filled museum driven to bring more to its visitors.
Experiencia fantástica: I enjoy the mix of sacred and profane, contemporary and historic works.
Experiencia fantástica: Entrance is free. Rotating exhibits and a collection of Texas art featuring Tom Lea, an El Paso painter. Great place to begin a walking tour of the old downtown. There are also tours of the Plaza Theater which is nearby
Experiencia negativa: I will no longer be supporting this museum. They now support satanic paintings and more satanic sacrifice in this museum, and I wholeheartedly felt uncomfortable and angry. I would not suggest taking your kids. I also had a medium size purse to fit all my diabetic medications in and I let the guard know cause he approached me but I was still circled and harassed every minute literally security circling me making me very irritated and uncomfortable like they could have just watched me in the cameras or watched in one corner of they really thought i was going to steal instead of literally harassing me standing not even 6 feet from me circling me so do not support the el paso museum of art!
Experiencia fantástica: Unfortunately I didn't have a chance to look at the art during my visit, but I did hold an amazing event in the lobby and mezzanine areas. It was the perfect space for me to be able to create and design my reception with many different elements. Natalia was helpful, flexible and easy to work with. I would do another event there in a heartbeat, highly recommended!
Experiencia positiva: Very nice building and very clean. It was easy to get to, only a 10 minute walk from our hotel and it was free admission. The museum itself had some interesting exhibits, but overall I found it boring. It didn’t take long to walk through the whole thing. I felt it wasn’t as captivating as other art museums I’ve been to. But it is worth a visit if you are in the area.
Experiencia fantástica: Great art museum. Enjoy the free admission.
Experiencia negativa: Having an iranian passport piece placed next to an abused/murdered womens memorial was concerning and quite disrespectful to the victims themselves.
Experiencia positiva: This is only my experience, but it wasn't quite my cup of tea, felt like they were only wanting to show us what they wanted, very narrow.
Experiencia fantástica: Free admission to every exhibition, interesting art, cool way to spend time in El Paso. They do organize workshops, so follow the website for the updates.
Experiencia fantástica: Really impressed with the catalog of art at this museum, free / donation admission - worth a stop if you’re downtown!
Experiencia fantástica: The exhibit on radiation and the Native populations was both amazingly beautiful and depressing. An eclectic collection of art - something for everyone. I prefer modern ar and had enough to make me a very happy art patron.
Experiencia fantástica: Free admission! Love all the art work. An hour trip. Great additions
Experiencia fantástica: Loved the time spent here
Experiencia positiva: Security guard was nice. We look lost, so he told us to start wherever we felt like. He also gave us directions.
Experiencia fantástica: Well organized classes. Helpful and informative staff. Unfortunately, very limited to poor parking.
Experiencia fantástica: Lovely museum with friendly staff. Enjoyed seeing works outside the European canon of art.
Experiencia fantástica: Always enjoy immensely, Southwestern & 12th century, permanent collections. Temporary touring works provide a visual and visceral brushstroke on anniversary of atoll tests.
Experiencia fantástica: I love this museum. They have rotating exhibits, but they also have permanent ones. I feel like they showcase the history and culture that El Paso radiates. Also it’s FREE! So, take your friends and family and enjoy a little bit of what downtown El Paso has to offer.
Experiencia positiva: Different exhibits from different eras of time even local artists.
Experiencia fantástica: AMAZING! I have traveled and lived all over the world. This place is a gem! Free with a lovely collection of art, well curated over the years. You feel welcomed the moment you enter and all is easy. We visited recently with my mother and young daughter and we walked into a classical concert playing live in the lobby as we toured the museum. A beautiful, charming experience! Highly recommend!
Experiencia fantástica: Interesting art and sculptures
Experiencia negativa: Staff is really rude. A man approached my friend and I mentioning we were too close to the art work. We were about 10 feet away and just looking around.
Experiencia fantástica: I thought it was all going to be modern art but this place has some of the best collection of real art I've seen. From European, colonial Mexican, classic American, and American civil rights art.
Experiencia fantástica: I really like this place, great variety of artists, but a little too much on the Early Christian art. I will continue to visit this Museum.
Experiencia positiva: Great display of art work. I would like to see more modern art on display. But, can't complaint entry was free.
Experiencia fantástica: Very nice people in the museum. Doesn't take a long time, but every time we've been it's been interesting
Experiencia fantástica: It was a very insightful and fun experience, there was lots of gourgeous art and had the meanings behind most of the artworks displayed.
Experiencia positiva: I was a chaperon for my grandson who attends El Paso Leadership Academy. Museum is BEAUTIFUL and our tour guide (male) was very good and made very interesting! Thank you
Experiencia negativa: had a terrible experience with staff, my group and i felt extremely uncomfortable and were not given any space. did not feel welcome nor did I enjoy viewing art under these circumstances
Experiencia fantástica: This museum was great!
Experiencia fantástica: I had an amazing experience visiting this place for the first time. The friendly, helpful staff and the variety of artwork were captivating.
Experiencia fantástica: Plenty to see and enjoy. We were able to get out of the heat, yet saw the whole thing in less than 2 hours.
Experiencia fantástica: Small museum but beautiful and free. We spent some time drawing with our kids. People working at the museum are super nice and helpful.
Experiencia fantástica: Had a blast! Exhibits change periodically. Fun activity, apply snap chat filters on statues and artwork. Gut busting laughter. And come on, it's the Art Museum!
Experiencia fantástica: Very clean and very nice art exhibits! I personally enjoyed the artwork that the kids did! Very Very Nice exhibit.
Experiencia positiva: This museum has some beautiful pieces, a good spot to spend an hour or two in. I took off a star because some of the staff mostly security, was a bit rude.
Experiencia fantástica: My only recommendation is to have the security guards do less rounds. The museum was pretty much empty but every time I would contemplate a piece I would either hear the slow footsteps of the older guard or the fast steps of the younger one. I would recommend having the guards mostly stay at a fixed vantage point or install some cameras.
Experiencia fantástica: I love this museum! This is the 4th time I visit I'm the last 3 months but today I had an encounter with a rude security guard. She said "I'm sure the other security told you that you have to put up your bag or wear it on your front." Which, when I arrived the security that greeted us ASKED if I wanted to put up my bag and I said no. She told me just to be mindful of the art. She didn't tell me I had to wear it on my front or I had to put it up in their lockers. Also, about 5 other security guards had seen me as I was walking the exhibits and didn't tell me anything. "I'm sure" I'll be back to the museum soon, I just hope that the security is more clear on their policies moving forward and relay them in a way that is more welcoming.
Experiencia fantástica: Amazing artwork ! I've seen better art here than the museums in Los Angeles. It's never super packed and staff is always polite. Always free and easy to find parking. They also have great events regularly.
Experiencia positiva: Nice museum. Interesting mix of art from different periods and styles. Free admission and some very important works among their pieces. Not overly large. Even if you only have an hour it is worth the visit
Experiencia positiva: It's beautiful, well maintained, and clean. But I didnt appreciate being followed around by the security officer. I thought it was all in my head until my kids' and my special needs son's nurse pointed out the female guard had been following us around every exhibit. Until I finally said something did she stop following us. Kind of soured the experience somewhat.
Experiencia fantástica: Very nice art museum, has some really nice pieces. And the admission is free.
Experiencia fantástica: There is no entrance fee and there are always new and interesting exhibits. Currently, there is a Salvador Dali exhibit and some cool paintings from an artist born in Yugoslavia.
Experiencia fantástica: We took 100+ students for their very first visit to the museum of art. We divided the kids with the 5 docents and my docent was knowledgeable and fantastic! It is always beautiful to visit and the students were in awe.
Experiencia positiva: Very nice but in my opinion should include local talent displayed.
Experiencia fantástica: stunning and free. Free, like a public park is free. That is, we all pay for it, so everyone can e joy it.
Experiencia fantástica: Beautiful artifacts and lovely pictures. Rich culture.
Experiencia fantástica: It was awesome to see the view of El Paso from the point of view of an artist. It's a great hidden gem downtown.
Experiencia fantástica: My first time ever visiting this place and I loved it. The varieties of paintings and friendly and helpful staff. Bathrooms and facilities clean and neat. Very engaging for kids as well!
Experiencia fantástica: We went to the member and it's fantastic inside you have to go downtown and see the art.
Experiencia fantástica: The museum is small but really nice, I enjoyed all the galleries. Best part is that the entrance is free.
Experiencia positiva: My first soundbath at this location. I was not directed to where it would be by the person at the front; he said he did not know, but I found it! It was a great place to have it dark, and a good place to beat the heat! Relaxing and so soothing.
Experiencia fantástica: Very nice art museum in El Paso, very close to the history museum so you can easily see both on the same day. Very nice galleries with beautiful works of art.
Experiencia fantástica: Free and amazing, But no water or food permits, people were friendly, and I enjoy looking at different artists who have made it possible, the first floor was dedicated to dia de Los Muertos and the second floor was dedicated to various artists and articles. But I enjoy the infernal art side and the God for future religion. The other side was for the history 1546 queen of Egypt, a very quiet place, clean and around security, a peaceful place to visit with the whole family or relax alone, That is for donations. I love it. ❤️
Experiencia fantástica: Great place to enjoy art pieces from local El Paso artists to 1600's Italian painters. Located in downtown El Paso.
Experiencia fantástica: Great museum and it was free! Spent a pleasant hour or two strolling the galleries and thoroughly enjoyed myself.
Experiencia fantástica: Stunning small collections of regional contemporary art depicting the ties and separation of Juarez and El Paso. Brings in gorgeous Americana landscapes and portraiture via 20th Century greats, and looks back to the Colonial Era, Renaissance, and even Byzantine with Classical religious iconography. Lots of “wow” moments here. It’s obvious how important light is to this West Texas town, and their paintings, photographs, and sculptures shine brilliant reflections of the people and places that make up this fascinating town and it’s environs.
Experiencia fantástica: Really shocking collection of beautiful art; especially if you keep an open mind towards different types of art. If you have an appreciation for unique art regardless of whether or not a specific piece speaks to you or not you will really appreciate this museum.
Experiencia fantástica: Very interesting place to check out the paintings and other art pieces. I really enjoyed the time there, the crew was very nice and very friendly. All the information about the art pieces is in English and in Spanish also.
Experiencia fantástica: Great museum that is free to visit! There is so much to look at. Definitely a great addition to the community. They have events listed inside for members of the art exhibit. The halls are wide enough that you could comfortably bring children and have them by your side without risking them knocking into anything expensive. We went over a weekend and it was not very busy.
Experiencia fantástica: The art museum is always a fun place to appreciate the effort the past has put to show us a time we will never see or experience.
Experiencia fantástica: Great museum, lots of history.
Experiencia fantástica: It's a free museum which is an amazing experience. Its always clean and taken care of. There's a lot of paintings and other mediums to look at and observe from with a lot of emotion and cultural stories, it's great to visit with family, and even around the building has stuff to look at! And in the fall, the meusum will host chalk the block! Which is when artists will use chalk and make peices of art with them, and family's can go and even do they're own art!
Experiencia fantástica: Amazing artwork ! I've seen better art here than the museums in Los Angeles. It's never super packed and staff is always polite. Always free and easy to find parking. They also have great events regularly.
Experiencia fantástica: The was a wide variety of art and many paintings had very informative descriptions. A nice place to take your family and enjoy a day out.
Experiencia fantástica: Awesome place. Especially when they exhibit art from Socorro ISD students. Beautiful art pieces to see and admire. Found out they have art classes too. Definitely something to look into.
Experiencia fantástica: Summer concert was excellent. Great Cello. Lovely violin.
Experiencia fantástica: A wonderful day is often spent at the museum.
Experiencia fantástica: Free! It was very moving seeing all of the pieces. I was happy to see that during the weekday afternoon it is very quiet and you basically have the place to yourself. Not a lot of people when we went. You are allowed to take photographs.
Experiencia fantástica: Definitely go if you love art, evertime I goni don't want to leave. The exhibits are so interesting and fun to look at.
Experiencia positiva: I'm not sure if that is just how the exhibits are right now, but I felt as though there was a vast majority of religious based pieces which are not a problem, but I was just expecting more. Has lots of amazing pieces and currently has a fashion exhibit that is very exciting and refreshing. Probably not the greatest for small children.
Experiencia positiva: Security is absolutely awesome here, school art is gorgeous and a great incentive to the up and coming local artist. The fashion exhibit is a spectacular event providing insight into different time periods.
Experiencia fantástica: It's a small art museum with free admission. The permanent collection is lovely and makes a nice, cool, spot to spend an afternoon.
Experiencia fantástica: My children and I really enjoyed the museum. We will definitely visit again. I will also be singing up for the membership.
Experiencia fantástica: Excellent display for Dia De Los Muertos commemorative Forever Stamps. Nice ceremony for first day issue of stamps
