Expérience fantastique: Explored Baton Rouge on foot. USS KIDD requires a ticket for entry. But the outdoors memorial was enough for me. Passed by here on my way to the capitol.

Expérience fantastique: USS KIDD is definitely worth visiting. Particularly, visiting the actual warship (DD-661) was quite an excellent experience. Other than that, they got a bunch of model versions for other ships used in WWII and other events.

Expérience fantastique: Really cool! Definitely worth you time and my kids are enjoyed it too. You get to walk through the boat and and go up and down and explore. Sitting on the Mississippi River there are amazing views of the river and some bridges. Lots of history here!

Expérience fantastique: Great little museum and self-guided tour of the ship. The tour was very thorough and covered most of the ship. We only had an hour, which was just enough time to get a good look at the ship itself without lingering in any one area too long. I plan to come back another time to look at the museum and take a little more time onboard the Kidd.

Expérience fantastique: Ok first of all, the indoor display is phenomenal and has amazing attention to detail when it comes to the information placards. Second, the rate for a self guided tour is unbeatable at $15 a pop. I had just as much fun on this destroyer as I had on guided tours on multiple different submarines. The saber jet on display is also on beautiful condition and there is a really cool lookout tower which provides a great view of the town.

Expérience fantastique: If you are in the area or passing thru it is worth a stop. They indoor museum and displays are nice. The walk thru the ship was very fun and informative. Seeing how the men who served lived will give you lot to think about. The staff and volunteers are very knowledgeable and friendly and really know their stuff.

Expérience fantastique: This is a great museum for the whole family and at a very reasonable price (family of 5 was around $50). There is a museum inside and you are able to take a self-guided tour through the ship. This is definitely a must-see family activity in Baton Rouge.

Expérience fantastique: I love these old ships. It always amazes me how much they get into a ship this size. Just seeing how the bunks were laid out was an eye opener! The interior of this ship reminded me of a submarine. Everything is so tight. Definitely worth a visit!

Expérience fantastique: Fantastic experience! Walked away feeling blessed that these men would live in such small quarters, make sacrifices to be so far from there homes and safety, live, eat and breath Navy...just for my freedom today. Looking at the gunners seats on the top of the boat made me think that someone's son was sitting there looking through the scope to shoot some kamikaze Japanese plane down before he was shot sitting in the open like that allowing injuries to his crewmates. If you get the chance, I highly recommend this adventure!

Expérience positive: It's a nice museum if you are interested in the military and history of the US. The USS Kidd is a warship that ha seen so many battles. Going on it was a great experience. There are two items of improvement that cost them one star. First and most important: the place is not wheel accessible. This surprised me. A disabled vet on a wheelchair cannot enjoy this place. ???? the second problem is lack of guidance and explanation. There was no staff to explain about this amazing warship. I know staff is always a problem. But in 2022, you definitely can use technology to have some multimedia tools for visitors.

Expérience fantastique: I've been to many navel ships across the country but the USS Kidd had a particular personality to it that no other ship has. Even my wife, who isn't anywhere near as fascinated with war history like I am, LOVED this experience. The ship is quite open and easy to navigate, you will also receive a map upon purchasing your admission that guides you with the help of markers throughout the ship so that way you stay on course and know what you're looking at. Be careful going up and down the tight ladders; my wife accidentally pulled a leg muscle because she didn't use the ladders properly (you have to go down backwards), I also advise stretching before boarding the ship, let my poor wife be an example. That aside, we adored the Kidd and would love to come back again someday. Also, don't skip out on the small museum inside the main complex, lots of neat artifacts. Even if you're not a history buff, expect to spend at least 2 hours here, though you'll probably want more because the USS Kidd is an amazing, giant time capsule that needs the time and love it deserves.

Expérience fantastique: Was a fun tour all round, though there was some stuff such as dead cockroachs and spiderweb in the way. Also was sad that they didn't have a shipbuilding model for USS Kidd, but i got myself a challenge coin!

Expérience fantastique: A great tour through an important ship in our nations history. I advise you to arrive early in summer months as the ship is not air conditioned. The heat and humidity will get to you. Also this ship was used in the Tom Hanks greyhound movie. You will see some familiar views from the movie. After going through the ship you can spend time going through the museum. It has many neat models of ships with links to Louisiana as well as profiles of soldiers from all branches of service linked to Louisiana. One thing that caught my eye was a model of the uss Louisiana that took part in the Spanish American war. It was decommissioned in 1922 (I think) and the decoration at the bow of the ship is in a park about a 5 minute drive from the museum. I will include pictures from it in my review.

Expérience fantastique: Great Museum and great tour. Our tour guide was doing it for the first time but he still did a great job! He answered our questions and took the time to be patient with everything we wanted to see and know about. Definitely recommend taking their guided tour. They cut us a discount since they had just recently opened since the pandemic opened but rather than just seeing the USS on our own, it was great to listen to little story snippets and significance of various parts of the ship and it's role in history!

Expérience fantastique: Very well done representation of a destroyer underway. They also had some very nice memorials of other ships, as well as personnel. The museum inside is also extremely well done. I was impressed and moved, especially by their representation of the Vietnam wall. All exhibits and memorials, inside and out, were excellent. I highly recommend making this a must see on your way through Baton Roug

Expérience fantastique: The museum is a great place to learn about our past naval history. The models on display are amazing as well as other exhibits. The staff and volunteers are very friendly. Youth groups with children ages 4-18 can spend the night on the Kidd. What a great experience!
