Musée de la rivière Hudson
ℹ️ Informations
Voici quelques points forts :

Expérience fantastique: Amazing art and architecture
Expérience fantastique: Absolutely love the new West Wing at Hudson River Museum.
Expérience fantastique: Very cool measuem. Fascinating mix of contemporary and historical, and of various medias including the architecture of the historical home itself.
Expérience positive: Such an underrated, almost hidden gem right here in Westchester County. Featuring Lovely art exhibits, stunning views, lively shows in their amphitheater, exciting hands-on classes for children, and a tour of the mansion. Well worth a visit.
Expérience fantastique: I have visited close to 20 times! This is an amazing museum/planetarium for all ages! There is also the historical mansion tour for a small add on price! So many beautiful areas of this museum and truly some hidden gems! The sky tonight planetarium show is super interesting and I love it whenever I go! This whole museum is great for ages 4-100! Everyone can find something to enjoy here! There is also a small food court/gift shop! Highly recommended and I mean truly a gem in Westchester!
Expérience fantastique: Amazing... 10 out 10
Expérience positive: Very sad that the Hudson Riverama is still close. Visited during Spring Break and there wasn’t much for elementary school students to do. They were offering arts and crafts activities and the planetarium. Hope they add more interactive/science activities for children to engage and learn more about the Hudson River.
Expérience fantastique: Super nice .. took my son and he loved it
Expérience fantastique: Great for everyone , young and old. Ck out the Huggins fam collection
Expérience fantastique: Very child friendly. Excellent planetarium for kids
Expérience fantastique: You have to experience to understand.
Expérience fantastique: I love the Planeturium with the 2:00 PM for The Sky Tonight. I love going to this place with my family.
Expérience fantastique: I have visited the Hudson River Museum twice, and have enjoyed my visit both times. This time around, I was thrilled to see the museum's new West Wing gallery space. The views of the water, coupled with its expansive-ness made the space feel so calm allowing for introspection of the art. The exhibits are dynamic, and I love how they swing between contemporary works and classical works; there is a lot to look at! I also enjoy some of the interactive elements that allow visitors to engage with the space. I'm looking forward to visiting again in the future! This museum is great for kids, especially during events. The staff were friendly, and the space was very well kept and organized. The museum's parking lot is a bit small, which makes it difficult to park during rush days. I would recommend parking somewhere on the block near the museum - you get a chance to look at some awesome, Victorian style houses across the street! The planetarium experience was alright. Since I visited during Lunar New Year, I was expecting something special for the planetarium show The Sky Tonight. It was more like a general astronomy class rather than an awe inspiring, interactive experience like at the Museum of Natural History. I recommend doing more research on the shows so you find something that interests you rather than the general version of the show, unless you're looking to learn the basics about stars.
Expérience fantastique: Nice place to visit. Mention and planetarium were fun for kids. They have fun kids activities
Expérience fantastique: Very nice smaller museum, worth a visit!
Expérience fantastique: I visited the Natural/Unnatural exhibit. It was fantastic. Unusual placement or reflections of animals. The horse sculpture made of wood fragments is extraordinary and memorable. Time spent at HRM is always enhancing.
Expérience fantastique: Fabulous gem of a planetarium and museum.
Expérience fantastique: Awesome museum and planetarium. A must see if you are in the Hudson Valley. Easy access, terrific exhibits, superb show in the planetarium geared towards children yet engaging for all ages. We will be back again. Highly recommend.
Expérience négative: The news did a story (4 days prior) about an exhibit that seemed huge and very interesting. I took my husband there as a "date" the exhibit was ONLY in a small room. My kitchen is bigger than the room. Parents allowed their kids to be loud, running around, making ALOT of noise (no contol) Glad I got a discount on the tickets. Would have been VERY upset had I paid full price.
Expérience fantastique: Very educational. The house is beautiful.
Expérience fantastique: yeah, I probably wouldn't go to yonkers if i had the choice. you'd have to be bonkers to pick yonkers.
Expérience fantastique: Excellent museum loved the exhibits and the talk that I attended on Wildlife paintings. James Prosek a real gentleman, artist and naturalist gave a presentation on what has inspired him. I am glad I went and hope to go again soon. Great views of the Hudson another bonus to visit.
Expérience positive: Nice museum with great views.
Expérience fantastique: Great place for kids on a rainy day!
Expérience positive: Not kid friendly. Felt because I had my kids we were constantly being watched. I refuse to use the stereotype of maybe it was because of my color. I'll give the benefit of the doubt. Museum is short and sweet but nothing awe inspiring
Expérience fantastique: We love coming here with our kiddo for their weekly planetarium shows. They offers shows for all ages. Splurge for the family membership and you can visit as much as you want for the year, for FREE! They offer community events, art installations/exhibits, shows, and much much more. Check the website for deets.
Expérience positive: Wished we could have seen more, especially of the rooms we could.not.see.
Expérience fantastique: Toured the mansion, loved the grounds, enjoyed all of the exhibits. Perfect size museum with gorgeous Hudson River & Palisades view.
Expérience fantastique: Great river location! Love the planetarium...gallery seems lovely...the pink flyod show rocked !!
Expérience positive: Fun exhibition of 50th year of Dark side of the moon on the observatory...very good show. Lovely location on the hudson.
Expérience fantastique: On a lazy Saturday afternoon, we decided to check out the planetarium. We arrived 15 minutes before the 2 pm show which gave us enough time to look at part of the old projector which was on display outside the room. Very cool. The gentleman who ran the show had the perfect voice for the show. His voice sounded soothing and made me feel the awe and majesty of what we were looking at. I loved the bits of humor that was also part of the show. It was a very interesting show, and the host gave us a lot of time to ask questions at the end of the show. After the planetarium, we went through the galleries to see the artwork on display. Magnificent! The lower level of the Hudson River walk display was closed when we went. I do not know if that was just for that day or the display was permanently closed. I hope they reopen it because I have always enjoyed that feature of the museum. The manor house was was unfortunately closed, we were not able to purchase tickets to take a tour of the house. I highly recommend checking out the house tour at Christmas time to see the decorations, every room has a Christmas tree with a different theme, and the best doll house (a detailed replica of the house) on display. There is an outdoor space just before the front door of the house where you can relax on chairs and tables. I saw games like hula hoops, Jenga and badminton rackets in that area so I will assume that one is allowed to frolic on the lush grass without any issues from security personnel. The staff was friendly, the gift shop was stocked with fun items. These is also a studio space for classes and there are brochures which list the events held at the museum. I would highly recommend a visit and I am proud to have this museum in my neighborhood.
Expérience positive: The museum is free through the Library but you have to pay for the planetarium. The museum is very small. The planetarium is small and the seats are not very comfortable. It is informative but could be more interesting. Some activities are set for kids to explore for free. Overall if you are looking for a slow and relaxed afternoon you can go here.
Expérience fantastique: One of my favorite local museums
Expérience fantastique: Planetarium is wild for an event - super cool
Expérience négative: The house tour was long and boring. You only get to see the ground floor.
Expérience fantastique: Highly recommend. Great place to go when you can't figure out where to go. Very accommodating to families.
Expérience fantastique: Went for a planetarium show. The show and the rest of the museum was great.
Expérience fantastique: A lot of interesting exhibits and the planetarium shows are fun.
Expérience fantastique: We had such a wonderful time waking people up explaining what we actually live on is flat and stationary. Space doesn't exist.
Expérience positive: I just love it here! The view of the Palisades is magnifico! So many interesting things to see and do and very progressive.
Expérience fantastique: Small enough to go through the whole place, not rushed in a little over an hour. Good for grown ups as well as kids. Views of the Hudson outside.
Expérience négative: The museum has little about the Hudson Valley history. Galleries were okay but not what we had come for. Missed the tour of the house. Skip this and go to Sunnyside or Rockefeller.
Expérience fantastique: Beautiful experience. Did the planetarium and enjoyed it! Cannot wait to come back to see all the exhibits.
Expérience fantastique: Great little museum with a planetarium. On weekends they have family art workshops. My kids love the workshops. There is no extra fee or pre-registration required and the art supplies and young people that lead the activities are first class. The little gift shop has a nicely curated selection and some snacks. Planetarium shows are somewhat repetitive.
Expérience positive: Visited this museum in early January and it was great! They had a number of excellent exhibits, all of which were of decent size and quite interesting. They have directional markers set up and capacity is limited but it was done in a way to make you feel comfortable and still welcome. I was also lucky enough to get a spot on one of their Glenview Mansion tours which are limited to 6 people to ensure social distancing. The tour is limited to 6 rooms on the ground floor but during the holidays the rooms are all beautifully decorated and the guide was extremely informative. It is very accessible from the city as walking distance from the Metro North Glenwood station. I highly recommend this museum with attached historic home.
Expérience positive: Definitely a hidden gem in Yonkers, NY. The view overlooking the Hudson is always a treat, especially when the sun is setting Take advantage of the Summer Fridays or Pay as You wish program if you can and visit the Planetarium..They also offer FREE evening performances in it's amphitheater on both Fridays and Saturdays.
Expérience fantastique: I mean, a museum my nine-year-olds didn't mind coming back to ... the Planetarium, the eclectic art collection, the activity rooms, the garden with motor-skill-enhancing activities (i.e. cornhole), and sweeping views of the Jersey Palisades as you enter and exit. 5⭐
Expérience positive: Lovely local museum. We went on a family fun day, my kids enjoyed the various art with recycled materials. They especially loved the current exhibition with hula hoops. Will return to try a planetarium show and walk the grounds.
Expérience fantastique: Love it! It’s a small museum beautiful museum with a planetarium. We watched The sky tonight at 2pm, enjoyed the family art workshop, and sat outside for awhile. It was the perfect way to spend our Saturday afternoon
Expérience fantastique: This little gem modern art museum has outstanding work by both famous and little known artists. The "Book store" installation by Red Grooms alone is worth flying in from Paris to see.
Expérience fantastique: It's always fun to check out. The Exhibits over there change every so often. There are plenty of workshops for the kids to have fun on the weekends. The Planetarium shows never fail to deliver.
Expérience fantastique: Gorgeous museum with something for everyone. There are oil paintings, modern art, historical pieces and several kid-friendly sections including a planetarium. A lovely, grassy courtyard with some chairs is a great spot to get some fresh air and eat food you brought. There's no cafe on site, though some snacks and drinks are sold in the gift shop. There are also tours of the antique mansion next door to the main museum building. Can't recommend this place enough.
Expérience positive: Really great special exhibitions, and I’ll definitely be back to visit the Glenview house. Perched over the river, there’s a lovely little garden and two large gallery spaces to explore. Empty on a weekday afternoon in summer.
Expérience positive: I came to this museum before covid and I got enter by free with bank of America card but I came again and the general admission is free but I have to pay for the planetarium and entering the mansion itself. But I must confess it's worth it since I enjoyed every part of the museum
Expérience positive: Great experience especially for those looking to spend an hour or 2 learning something new. Knowledgeable staff and a planetarium that's absolutely wonderful. Parking galore and tours available.
Expérience fantastique: Great for the fact it is close, friendly and well done. Beautiful upgrade to the planetarium. Worth the visit and membership gets you reciprocal benefits at Wave Hill and the Bruce Museum (Greenwich, CT). Look up their age specific space shows on their website. Free parking and nice view.
Expérience fantastique: It was interesting. The staff was helpful and friendly. The view was phenomenal.
Expérience fantastique: Nice art little museum, and has art science activities for kids. Planetarium was closed.
Expérience positive: Cycling from the Bronx to this picture was delightful. The grounds are well kept and the views spectacular.
Expérience négative: Several exhibits were closed leaving little to do. The house tour and planetarium were not being offered more than once. Not worth visiting until the work and COVID are done.
Expérience positive: Great museum. Went to see Frida Kahlo exhibit.
Expérience positive: Sold OUT!!! We showed up for the Glenview tour but found out there is only one tour a day during the week.....it didn't say that on the website.... and it was sold out have to buy in advance.....was bummed and then they started to run the vacuum cleaner while we were looking at the art --- ...thankfully we asked staff to turn it off and they did.....so disturbing .. ....both incidents. Some of the areas are also closed off so plan accordingly.......
Expérience fantastique: Small museum that's lots of fun. I love the clear mask requirement and the very friendly staff, and my son loved the planetarium show.
Expérience fantastique: Always love revisiting this museum.
Expérience négative: I walked down today from an apt I rent on Warburton and the Museum was closed. I had called before and the recording said it was open. The website also stated the hours/days of museum. The Museum was closed. Why not change the recording when you call and change the website. I am sure someone could do that remotely.
Expérience fantastique: Kids had a great time at the planetarium. plus there are other activities such as Collage making In between planetarium shows that made it very nice
Expérience positive: Small but interesting museum on the Hudson river
Expérience fantastique: Its great: Become a member and it pays for itself in 2 visits. Planetarium is great for the entire family and the exhibits keep changing all the time.
Expérience fantastique: Lovely courtyard, river views at the entrance and beautiful art. Check out the events available dedicated to the theme of exhibits. I went to a Frida themed paint night and it did not disappoint!
Expérience positive: Did not visit the museum itself, but the amphitheater for their concert series. They are GREAT. Whether classical music in cartoons or Tango, it is a very fast paced, entertaining presentation. Will continue to go.
Expérience fantastique: Went on the Glenview mansion Christmas tour. Just stunning highly recommend
Expérience positive: Great space. Interesting exhibits. Awesome staffing. Scenic location as well!
Expérience fantastique: They have so much to offer! Summer hours and outdoor concerts, rotating & interesting exhibits and the solar system programs. So grateful to live nearby this gem!
Expérience fantastique: An amazing experience!! A Yonkers hidden gem. Currently featuring the exhibition "The World Of Frida". Accessible by car, bus and train. Located in the Trevor Park and Playground area. Parking is free and on site. Family friendly. I will definitely do it again.
Expérience fantastique: This is a really nice museum with an incredible location. Unfortunately when we went many of the highlights including the River display and the planetarium we're closed. Hope to return one day when those are back.
Expérience fantastique: I really liked seeing the Mona Lisa in real life!!
Expérience fantastique: Fantastic, small clean local museum
Expérience fantastique: Great exhibit. Nice price. Not very big.
Expérience fantastique: Magnificent building and art, hands-on workshops, sweet little gift shop... We also enjoyed a picnic on the grassy hill and open field in front of it.
Expérience fantastique: A true gem in Westchester. Fine A arts, history and science. Exhibitions are expertly curated. The planetarium is state of the art. And its about to experience a modest expansion.
Expérience fantastique: Planetarium was awesome! The person doing the show was great and took the time afterwards to answer my questions and chat.
Expérience fantastique: The planetarium is as awesome as I remember as a kid. Needs an upgrade though. The free shows are a blast and are a great way for kids and families to learn new things and have a good time.
Expérience fantastique: Had a nice time...loved the scavenger hunt. First time visiting this museum outside of the planetarium. It was a good visit especially for my kid's first time at a museum. I can't wait to take him back once the other exhibits open and the planetarium as well.
Expérience positive: Small museum ,nice view, big free parking lot, hudson river..
Expérience fantastique: Very classy place right in my backyard. They have shows here.
Expérience fantastique: Museum been there since i was a child very nice, yrs ago they had a library there.
Expérience fantastique: Great museum and shows. Good place to have corporate or private get together.
Expérience positive: Been wanting to go for years so a little disappointed that only two galleries are open. And only two hudson river school pairings were on display. Staff is friendly.
Expérience fantastique: This museum had a wonderful exhibit Women to the Fore and an interesting permanent collection. The setting is stunning!
Expérience positive: Quirky place. Combination of a nineteenth-century home and brutalist architecture. Cute little planetarium. lots of free or affordable things for children to do on the weekends.
Expérience positive: Borrow a museum pass from your local library, it includes free entry to all events and films. Always good on a weekend if you have kids. Usually some crafts for children to make, and a series of presentations and children's science film in the planetarium. Consider to bring a packed lunch, not many places to eat nearby.
Expérience positive: Free admission during the weekends. You have to pre-register for the free planetarium. It is small tho.
Expérience fantastique: This small museum gives you the history of Yonkers. Even tho it is small the kids had a great time with the Art displays and Arts and craft. I recommend bringing your kids to the planetarium. They have a toddler session and older kids session.
Expérience fantastique: The shows during the summer are pretty good! Even during pandemic times they never stop giving residents a bit of live music and performance from amazing artists. They followed guidelines and design a smart layout at the amphitheater and took the necessary precautions to make the audience feel safe and welcomed! Love this place. A truly gem in the area of Yonkers NY
Expérience fantastique: Acted as a chaperone for a school trip here. What a great little museum. The planetarium is fantastic. Seating allows you to take in the show from any spot. Staff were very hands on and helpful to the elementary students. Exhibits were well described and had local cultural significance.
Expérience fantastique: There's so much to see and do at this museum! Even now in these days of social distancing the museum is offering online exhibitions. I recently viewed the Hudson Museum from Home touring its permanent collection. I've been missing my dose of culture but the online collection offered so much for me to look at, enjoy and learn about. I could really take my time with the paintings and even did some further investigation online reading more on Google about the artists and artwork. I love painting, sculpture, etc. and the Hudson River Museum's collections are are phenomenal. They are offering so much online now for families, teachers and art lovers like myself. What a resource to check out online! And when we're able to visit again, I HIGHLY recommend it. The grounds offer breathtaking views of the Hudson. As I mentioned the exhibits are top notch, I especially loved the recent Thomas Cole exhibition focusing on paintings of Catskill Creek. It was accompanied by an exhibition by contemporary artists and their artistic interpretation of the Hudson River. The museum does an excellent job of highlighting contemporary artists as well as creating events that connect with the community. I think it's one of their strengths (among many.) There's just so much to see. The first time I visited I took a tour of the historic Glenview mansion. You'll feel like you've been transported to the Gilded Age. You'll be immersed in the art, furnishings and the history of the time. (I loved the patterned wallpaper - but really everything is gorgeous.) I also enjoyed the Riverama - an interactive exhibit covering the history, ecology and the impact of the Hudson River - it's perfect for kids, though I pretty much loved it too. There's also a planetarium - which is on my list for my next visit. The museum also offers great place to sit and grab a snack and chat about what you've just seen. The staff and everyone I've ever interacted with are incredibly warm and friendly. I've been to a lot of museums all over the world and this is by far one of my favorites!
