Located in the former indoor swimming pool in Duisburg-Ruhrort, the museum is surprisingly spacious and expansive. Many exhibits on several floors lead the visitor from the beginnings of shipping in the Bronze Age to the decline of inland shipping in our time. The visitor should not miss to pay a visit to the two historic ships in the Vincke Canal. They really round off a visit to the museum.

What made our visit so particularly attractive today was the Playmobil exhibition, which tells the history of Ruhrort from the Stone Age to the 20th century using detailed and lovingly designed miniature worlds. After a short walk to the port of Ruhrort, you can still see the museum ships nearby. Definitely a recommendation.
