Esperienza fantastica: Terrific museum for the aviation buff or child at heart. Excellent history of the Martin company as well as notable aircraft on display. Volunteers are extremely knowledgeable and personable.

Ed Carr 11 months ago

Esperienza fantastica: You can feel the passion of the volunteers through every inch of this museum. It's got some really cool, rare planes but it really spotlights the people that made the planes at Martin. It has amazing original artifacts from the old factory. Bill was a great guide!

Esperienza fantastica: It's a small museum, with hopes of expanding, and is packed with the history of Glen L. Martin Co.'s major roles in building aircraft during World War II and space shuttles, such as Gemini and Apollo, as part of the USA's participation in space exploration. My husband's grandfather (Charles Tolson), worked at Martin's during those times, and kept many personal documents and photos, which my husband donated to the museum. There is a special interactive room for kiddos where they can explore Martin's history in aircraft at their own level. There are no fees, though gratuities are appreciated. P.S. I grew up near Martin's and remember arms that descended over Eastern Ave. that paused traffic in order for planes to taxi to additional hangars across the street from the airport and sea planes that landed in Martin's lagoon.

Esperienza fantastica: I don't think many people know this museums even exists but it's a lot of fun! There's a small museum that's very kid friendly and throughout the year they have some really cool events!

Esperienza fantastica: Fantastic museum! Lovely interior exhibit on the history of the airport and the Martin facilities there with a nice gift shop plus an amazing flight line of historic military aircraft. Truly could not imagine a cooler small aviation museum. Volunteers were generous with their time and stories. If you’re willing to walk circa 20 odd minutes it’s easy enough to reach from the MARC station on the other side of the airport with sidewalks available all the way around. If you arrive early due to the train schedule, there’s a waiting area with a small couch inside the building that hosts the museum (which is shared with a few other businesses).

Angie Patterson 2 years ago

Esperienza positiva: We went for fleet week so it s free. There were shuttles up the street. Small wait time. IDK the policy when there is not an event. All in all it was interesting inside & out. We got to see the planes outside!

Esperienza fantastica: What an amazing museum run by an amazing team of volunteers, all fellow aviation aficionados that put in so much of their personal time and energy, they deserve a round of applause. The interesting part is that the museum is part of an active airport and ANG airbase. This has both disadvantages and advantages.. The story told by 1 of the volunteers on the early days of Glenn L. Martin up to the fantastic line-up of aircraft outside and some beautiful oil paintings, photos and aircraft engines make for a very nice half day out for the whole family, incl. kids from say 6-7 years old. The whole place is a full of history. The ramps used by the Martin flying boats into the river from the airport as well as at the (now) LMTAS site are still visible! Albeit the latter one only from the air (see insider tip #2).. They are restoring 2 very rare planes: a Martin Mauler and a Martin Seamaster (yes, that jet-powered flying boat, whooaah!), for which they get zero support from any government or commercial body, so please donate or support them in another way to avoid these unique pieces of modern history getting lost forever. Some of these planes have only 1 or 2 remaining worldwide. I'm counting on all of you out there to come and enjoy and support them cause I plan to come back in a decade or so and see the Martin Mars on the tarmac! :-) Insider tip #1: If you're not from the area; make sure you eat a lovely fresh crab cake sandwich while you're here! Tip #2: Check with Brett Aviation next door for offers via Groupon on a scenic tour over the Chesapeake Bay and Baltimore centre. They might even give you the controls for a spell! Thanks Paul (2×, also Paul from SA at Brett's), Jim and everyone else I met Tuesday! Regards, Bart

Esperienza fantastica: Really cool place with lots of interesting local history to learn about. Take the trip out to the tarmac with the old planes. Staff are knowledgeable and happy to share what they know.

Bob Colvin 2 years ago

Esperienza fantastica: I was disappointed the only Martin aircraft on display was a 202, and no Martin seaplanes. Most of the display aircraft on the ramp tour are Vietnam War vintage. The museum itself did have lots of info and pictures of their famous seaplanes they built.

Esperienza fantastica: My older son asked to go somewhere to learn about airplanes while we were in Baltimore. The Glenn L. Martin Aviation Museum fulfilled his request and went beyond our expectations! He learned about Rosie the Riveter and Morse code. The outdoor tour of planes was fascinating. Paul's knowledge and passion for aviation was evident. He took the time to answer any questions my son asked. My son enthusiastically reviewed his time there as "Amazing!" Aviation fans of any age need to visit this museum.

We are so happy he took the time to reccomend it. It really peaked our 8 yr old daughter's curiosity. We truly enjoyed our tour. The people here are wonderful and informative. They really gave us a sense of togetherness. Our whole family enjoyed it and the train garden. Thank you to all!

Esperienza fantastica: A fantastic aviation museum with a GREAT Line-up of airplanes! A must see! The best part was a guided tour by Paul, a Martin spokesman who is highly knowledgeable about the history and airplanes on the tarmac. First we drove behind him through airport security and then he told us the full history of each plane. A great presentation. The volunteers at Glen Martin are highly appreciated! Many thanks!

An awesome line up of airplanes and helicopters that you can climb into and explore. Very knowledgeable staff and tour guides. Many have actual flight time in the aircraft. Planes are actually restored there by former crew and engineers. Amazing lineup.

Esperienza fantastica: Magnificent aviation museum! A buddy and I flew into the Martin State Airport where this is housed and walked over - what a packed museum and ramp full of airplanes! WELL WORTH the very low admission price for this private museum open to the public! The volunteers are THE BEST - Glenn and Burnie were outstanding! I really enjoyed this museum - highly recommended!

David Alman 6 years ago

Esperienza fantastica: Bottom line: if you're ever near Baltimore and like airplanes, you should visit. The Martin Aviation museum is THE place for those interested in the history of Martin's beautiful aircraft. The museum is constantly evolving and looking to expand, so don't expect a Smithsonian style arrangement. If you want to see the aircraft, make sure to call ahead. Regardless, the exhibit alone (with some incredible tank and wind tunnel models from the seaplanes) is well worth the trip. As a bonus, you can see the A-10s from the Maryland ANG and the old seaplane ramps from when Seamasters and Mariners would taxi in and out of the Martin lagoon.

Sean VanSickle 7 years ago

Esperienza fantastica: Lots of history. Volunteers are well informed and very helpful. Visiting flight line of preserved airplanes is a great time.
