🗣️ Museo d'Arte Blanton: Opinioni
Esperienza positiva: Very nice, peaceful area for serious art appreciator’s. Not my favorite museum for my PERSONAL taste - but they have something for everyone, including kids! Also, they’re now free entry on Tuesdays.
Esperienza fantastica: Good option if looking for something to do at the weekend. Walking distance to the Texas Capitol. Extensive exhibits covering US, Latin American, European, Native American art.
Esperienza positiva: Pretty good museum. Not huge (so you don’t get exhausted) and always has new temp exhibits so it’s fun to visit from time to time.
Esperienza fantastica: I got to join up with a tour group in the Blanton. They were highlighting some modern works of art, and I thoroughly enjoyed it!
Esperienza fantastica: Make sure you come early because you can spend hours here enjoying some of the best art collections dating back thousands of centuries to Andy Warhols to 21st century emerging artists.
Esperienza fantastica: This is also definitely a must-visit place when you come to Austin. The stunning architecture of the art museum and the artworks inside are well worth your time. If you visit Austin, I highly recommend stopping by.
Thank you for your review! Hope to see you again,Aiden, Visitor Services
Esperienza fantastica: Walking around was a nice vibe. I came for the stunning architecture, and it did not disappoint. I also really enjoyed the interior display of Stacked Waters. Can't wait for the café reveal coming soon. I would have liked to see arrows on the ground directing visitor flow and art sequence. I saw there was a stairway to see through the blanton glass on the 2nd floor but it was occupied for a long time, so I skipped over it. Overall, a sunny day made it a beautiful trip.
Esperienza fantastica: We enjoy Native American exhibit in Bolton Museum of Art.
Esperienza fantastica: After seeing my doctor on Trinity St, I skedaddled to Blanton Museum of Art. It was a sultry 10 minute walk. Just a tad humid but to a Texan, have water bottle, sunglasses and ballcap will travel. Texans love to walk. The sun feels good on our skin and our heart muscle thanks us. Greek pottery 550 BCE and some of the most beautiful classic art. I love the religious art especially Jesus, the Blessed Mother, various saints and cherubs. I enjoyed Hercules saving his Daeanira fom the savage centaur Nessus. Tuesdays are FREE admission. No wait time or reservation needed! It was swell to see all ages packed into various rooms of the galleries. I have always wanted to work in a museum. So much history and talent to appreciate. The gift shop sells cold sparkling water and I sat outside under a fine fan refreshing myself before jaunting back to hotel. The gift shop at Blanton Museum of Art has note cards, Marfa cookbooks, women empowering jewelry, and Vincent Van Gogh socks. There are unique gifts for men, children, women and Texas Forever fridge magnets. This is a museum you have to visit.
Thank you Cindy for such a wonderful review! Our galleries rotate 2-3 times a year, so I hope you'll come visit us again!-Aiden, Visitor Services
Esperienza fantastica: Cool way to escape the Texas summer heat! *FREE* admission on Tuesdays! Wasn’t too crowded toward the end of the day. Comfortably walked though the 2nd floor exhibitions within 2 hours. They had some beautiful paintings of Christ, Mary, saints, angels, etc from 1500-1600s that were particularly evoking. PAID parking is at Brazos garage and was about $6 for that duration; they don’t validate parking but there is a discount if you’re a member.
Glad you got to visit! Hope to see you again,Aiden, Visitor Services
Esperienza positiva: Tuesdays are free. Very nice collection of pieces. I’m glad we didn’t have to pay because some of the exhibits were closed. Bathrooms were very clean. Definitely recommend coming by on a Tuesday. Parked at the garage next door.
Thank you for the review! I hope you'll come visit us again now that our major exhibit, Native America: In Translation, is on view!-Aiden, Visitor Services
Esperienza fantastica: Beautiful museum. A place of peace and contemplation. All staff very friendly and helpful.
So glad you enjoyed your visit! Our new exhibit opens early August, hope to see you again.-Aiden, Visitor Services
Esperienza fantastica: A large collection of modern/contemporary art on one side, old masters on the other, as well as some outside sculptures. Well worth the visit.
Esperienza positiva: Clean, lovely place full of unique artwork. Lost an item here and workers found and returned the item. Thank you
Esperienza fantastica: A gem of a space. Even during free Tuesday visit, the space is peaceful, meditative, inspiring and beautiful. Visit asap.
Esperienza positiva: I've always liked the Blanton museum however I'm extremely unhappy with the millions of dollars spent on that cement block thing that was originally designed for California. It has nothing to do with Austin and it's a huge waste of money.
Esperienza negativa: NOT KID FRIENDLY! It felt like we were singled out just because we had kids. The staff followed us around the entire exhibit, making it difficult to enjoy.
Hello, would you mind emailing us at [email protected] so we can hear more about your experience? Thank you, Aiden, Visitor Services
Esperienza fantastica: We really enjoyed our visit. The staff was friendly and the art was well curated. We were able to catch an art collection of Japanese wood block prints, which were great!
Esperienza fantastica: Wonderful experience. Highly recommended. Lots to see, read, and explore. Temporary artwork from Edo Japan ,"the floating world" and from #annialbers "in thread and on paper". Great collection and well presented artworks from several continents. Tuesdays are free for visitors. Duration to visit depends on your in-depth interest in studying each piece. At least it takes 2 hours to visit briefly. I hope #vancouver #artgallery gets inspired by the collection and brings the exhibition to Vancouver.
Esperienza fantastica: Beautiful gallery with rotating exhibits, a welcoming space celebrating life's beautiful things
Esperienza positiva: Really loved looking at the Edo Period exhibit. The art was amazing, and the price to get in is very reasonable. Would definitely return for future exhibits. Wish the spaces were a little more open, kind of felt like sardines, but also to be expected on a weekend/last few days of an exhibit
The Floating World was definitely a popular show for us! Glad you got to catch it. Our next major exhibit open early August, hope to see you again!-Aiden, Visitor Services
Esperienza positiva: Honestly, I only recognized one artist but it was a lot of fun and worth the trip.
Esperienza fantastica: Tuesdays are free! Even the special exhibits can be accessed. Enjoy!
Esperienza fantastica: If you are interested in all things Texas, cars, wrecked ships, nasa, technology, petroleum, civil rights movement, music and much more this is a must visit place to visit.
Looks like you had a great time at the Bob Bullock Museum! You should come visit us too! ;)Aiden, Visitor Services
Esperienza fantastica: Had a fantastic time looking at the beautiful art work. Love the floating worlds exhibit, would love to see more Japanese artwork in the future. One of the employees there named Reagan made it even more fun! She photo bombed my husband's photo and then even let us take a photo with her later on so my husband could photo bomb his photo bombed photo hahaha. She definetely needs a raise!
I love it!! So glad y'all came to visit! -Aiden, Visitor Services
Esperienza fantastica: I would argue this is the best museum in Austin. Wonderful atmosphere for art and visual quiet. TUESDAYS are the free days. Check the website to confirm.
Thank you Billy! We're just happy to share the art world love. Hope to see you again!-Aiden, Visitor Services
Esperienza positiva: What a great experience my wife and I were having have a great time here at the museum also every Tuesday absolutely free free yes free parking is very cheap each hour $3 we pay $6 for two hours not bad very recommended good times here staff very friendly also restrooms super clean
Esperienza fantastica: Free on Tuesdays! It was a stop we had to make! My son needed a wheelchair and they were able to provide to help us go around on lengthy walks. Beautiful gallery and showcased Japanese art the time we were there. Restrooms and lockers were in the building. It’s across from the beautiful Capitol. Lots of kids activities too!!! Highly recommended!!!
We are happy to help! Hope to see you guys again!-Aiden, Visitor Services
Esperienza positiva: Almost was a perfect day until we entered the sound room… there is no signs anywhere saying no noise and i entered made a small whoing sound and a lady named Nikki so upset approached me infront of other people saying loudly no whoing in here and so on and so on… we continued walking and there was a group of ladies talking out loud including Nikki with another lady louder then my small whoing noise. Im not from texas and these experiences really i dont think id be back.
Thank you for your review, Paty. It sounds like you were in Austin, a space designed to have a quiet nature. Regardless, I am sorry that your interaction negatively impacted your experience at the Blanton! If you'd like to discuss your visit with us further, please email us at [email protected]. -Aiden, Visitor Services
Esperienza fantastica: They had pictures of the different cultures and also wrote about each one. Very interesting, and I advise you to visit if you are in the area and have time.
Esperienza fantastica: This place is incredible! A must-see if visiting Austin. Thought provoking artwork and so much variety of time periods and mediums and styles! I hope to visit again in the future.
We would love to have you back! Thanks for your visit and your review. -Aiden, Visitor Services
Esperienza fantastica: I’m a UT student and I have enjoyed every visit to the Blanton Museum of Art! They have a variety of art works that you cannot get bored at the museum. I also love the interactive art stations that you can be creative - putting woodblocks into art, weaving your own patterns, and creating your own art at the makewild. I spent more than four hours there today and still didn’t finish everything will come back again
I'm so happy you had a good visit! Can't wait to see you again!-Aiden, Visitor Services
Esperienza positiva: If you like art and museums, you'll like this.
Couldn't agree more! Thanks for the review!-Aiden, Visitor Services
Esperienza fantastica: Really enjoyed this museum So simple yet impactful Parking was easy and free Enterance is about 15 dollars
Esperienza fantastica: Awesome Art Museum. We went on a Sunday and no crowds. It really is nicer now that they have remodeled outside.
Esperienza fantastica: Unbelievable space filled with love, art, care, and humanity. So grateful for a place like this in the middle of summer where I can come and relax. Tuesdays are free but you’ll feel rich upon leaving!
Esperienza fantastica: A pleasant surprise, this museum, special exhibit of Japanese artist, along with their permanent collection of contemporary, European, and American art was impressive. We had about two hours before closing and discovered Tuesdays are free. A great experience.
Love the pictures! So glad to hear you enjoyed your visit, Maria. Hope to see you again!-Aiden, Visitor Services
Esperienza fantastica: Awesome museum! They have plenty of discounts to offer if you qualify. Definitely come here and check it out!
Esperienza negativa: Went there yesterday 5/1/2024 and got kicked out because one in our party had a dress that was too Mexican. The employees even said it was because of dress. One even started crying. Any lawyers want to team up and sue these people? I can only imagine the racism that goes on in that school. Please do not comment if your not going to allow me to respond. Let people know the truth. (Not sure how to reply to your comment so Im editing my first comment with reply to your comment)This is exactly HOW you were able to kick us out not WHY. We explained it was NOT a photoshoot.
Good afternoon, I understand that you were at the museum yesterday to conduct a photo shoot which, unfortunately, goes against our policy, as clearly stated on the Blanton website. Photo shoots inside the museum are not permitted for any reason, including but not limited to proms, graduations, and quinceañeras; you may read more here: https://blantonmuseum.org/welcome-to-the-blanton-museum-of-art/photography-video-guidelines/. We would be happy to further discuss your experience; please email us at [email protected].
Esperienza negativa: Mixed feelings, while visiting today from Florida with my wife and daughter we stopped in to enjoy the Museum. The front desk was quick and easy and very polite and helpful. We were directed to the main gallery. Entry was easy and the staff was helpful. They gave us a few pamphlets and checked our camera to ensure it was ok to bring in. After spending over a hour in the main gallery on both floors taking photos and speaking with staff about exhibits we decided to move to the Austin building by Ellsworth Kelly. At entry we were stopped and asked to present our tickets wich we did. During the process the employee told us we wouldn't be allowed to bring in our Go Pro 10 camera because selfie sticks are not permitted. I explained to her it is not a selfie stick, nor a tripod, bipod, monopod or any device that extends or opens. It is simply a 6 inch hand held gimble and go pro. I explained that we have over a hour of footage from the main gallery and we were approved by the front desk and all employees in the main gallery. She proceeds to tell us that "she doesn't care what other people allowed and that there is no circumstance where she will allow access to us" in a very rude and aggressive manner. After being treated so poorly we decided in was a good idea for us to move on with our day and visit another facility where we could enjoy our last day in Austin and soak up some culture. I would suggest that the staff be educated on what the actual policies of the facility are so they can be consistent in enforcement of the rules from the beginning.
Thank you for your review, Daniel. I'm glad that you enjoyed the majority of your visit, but sorry that it ended on a lower note! Camera attachments are not typically allowed, and I do apologize for the inconsistency and manner of communication. We would love to welcome you back to the museum if you visit this city again! And if you'd like to discuss your experience further, my email is [email protected] Griffin, Manager of Visitor and Volunteer Services
Esperienza fantastica: Beautiful art pieces. This place is not packed so you can take your time and see it all.
Esperienza fantastica: Fantastic museum with a great collection of artwork. Good deal for any college student and is free for UT students. Highly recommend this and the Texas State History Museum when you visit Austin
Esperienza fantastica: May 2024 Finally made some time to revisit the Blanton Museum of Art after its overhaul renovation. The museum is much improved from being a little stale. There are now many places to hang out both inside and outside. The collections are still enjoyable to see and there were some new collections. It's basically a mixed bag of art categories. And don't forget to go inside Ellsworth Kelly’s Austin. The cafe will soon open at a later date so other options is to eat at the Star Cafe at the Bullock Texas State History Museum or another cafe in one of the new state government buildings further up the Texas Mall.
Esperienza fantastica: Thoroughly enjoyable, even for the artistically untrained. Bite-sized descriptions are interesting, educational (often including details of the artist's intentions and process), and are posted in Spanish as well. Bright, lofty spaces, and the staff couldn't have been more welcoming. Breathtaking the flower-shaped shade structures and greenery.
Thank you Kristina! We aim to make art accessible and only hope to further that goal--your support helps make that happen!-Aiden, Visitor Services
Esperienza fantastica: I really enjoyed the Japanese Prints, especially since I started watching the TV show Shogun recently and the prints were made during a similar time as portrayed on the TV show.
Esperienza fantastica: Great art in an easy to wander format
Esperienza positiva: Decent place, lots of very nice art, the rotating gallery is always a fun surprise, the vast halls of old Christian stuff is boring.
Esperienza fantastica: Wonderful temporary exhibition of Ukiyo-e. Free entrance.
Esperienza positiva: A gorgeous place with lots of seating and a fabulous variety.
Esperienza fantastica: Beautiful museum of art. The chapel space is worth the visit itself.
Esperienza positiva: Comparatively speaking, the museum is fairly small. Was a little disappointed. There are some cool exhibits and beautiful art pieces though.
Esperienza positiva: Some good exhibits but overall just ok. I like the Latin American rooms the best. The chapel is weird IMO.
Esperienza fantastica: Gorgeous museum! Wished we had more time to see it all. I think we were there for about 2 hrs before we got hungry and decided to leave. So eat before going in and take your time. It is totally worth it.
Thanks for the review Raquel! We're hoping to open a café at the museum this year, so snack breaks will be a possibility! We hope you visit us again. -Aiden, Visitor Services
Esperienza positiva: Great American and European art. Good manageable size. Worth a visit
Glad you came by, and excellent rendition of Down for the Count! Hope to see you again!-Aiden, Visitor Services
Esperienza fantastica: Beautiful and poignant exhibits. Too much to see in one visit. Free admission on Tuesdays.
Esperienza fantastica: An excellent regional museum. The Ellsworth Kelly temple is worth going alone, but you will find plenty of other reasons to go. The special exhibits were very well curated and off the beaten path, I was especially taken with the exhibit on Anni Albers work, I had only ever seen her husband’s work with color. They also have a nice collection of South American art which I don’t often see elsewhere in the US.
We're glad you enjoyed your visit here, Jordan! The special exhibits, Latin American collection, and the Kelly building are things we take a lot of pride in. I hope we see you again! -Aiden, Visitor Services
Esperienza fantastica: I'm a casual museum-goer who gets tired of it pretty quick and I loved this spot. Two rotating galleries on the main floor and an impressive array of art upstairs. Really well curated and had a lot of really fun pieces (including a Warhol of Farah Fawcett). Pro Tip: we showed up on a Tuesday and it was free! To our delighted surprise! And if you're the type, the white domed building is included with the ticket price and is very instaworthy inside. Loved the store too.... Bought a print of my favorite piece for only 15 bucks!
So happy to hear about your visit! Our galleries rotate a 2-3 times a year and Tuesdays are always free, so hopefully we see you again :)-Aiden, Visitor Services
Esperienza fantastica: WOW. We lucked into a traveling exhibition of Japanese art that was excellent. Merely the architecture of the beautiful blue-tiled, columned atrium and the "mushroom sculpture" in the exterior courtyard were impressive. And of course the "Austin" building is not to be missed! Overall this is a small museum but I'm SO glad we made the time to visit. Parking is EASY at the Brazos Building right next door.
Thank you for the review Emily! We feel very lucky to be able to showcase The Floating World, I'm glad that you enjoyed it! -Aiden, Visitor Services
Esperienza fantastica: Great time well spent in the museum! Not to mention Tuesdays have free admission.
Esperienza fantastica: Went on Tuesday, which is free. It was a nice spacious layout with amazing artwork. We parked at the Jester Hall parking lot.
Esperienza negativa: I paid full price to enter the museum, and paid for parking as well, but was not allowed to enter the two 1st floor galleries because I was not a member! I had driven to Austin from New England to see the museum & of course was not a member because I dont live there. Usually museums keep their members happy by offering them an after hours activity!! There is absolutely no reason to prevent guests from seeing the museum in its entirety. Please rethink your policies. Also get a cafe!!!
Hi Valerie, sounds like you visited when we had a member preview happening! When we have new exhibitions, we invite members to check it out the day before it opens to the public. This is a member perk along with some after hours events! The Floating World and Anni Albers shows are now open until June 30th. As for the cafe, we are working on it--promise! -Aiden, Visitor Services
Esperienza fantastica: We enjoyed our visit to the museum. Second Saturdays are hosted by the museum, which is a lot of fun. We attended recently for the Japanese block art demo along with traditional Japanese dancers, dj, drinks, and food for purchases. Kids were able to watch and work on their own piece of art.
So glad to hear about your visit! Next month's Second Saturday will be inspired by our Anni Albers exhibit, and will include more hands on activities open to all. Hope to see you again!-Aiden, Visitor Services
Esperienza fantastica: Incredible & impressive collection. My last stop on quick weekend trip and wish I had more time there.
If you ever find yourself back in Austin, we'll be here! Thank you for visiting! -Aiden, Visitor Services
Esperienza fantastica: I really enjoyed my time at this colorful and fresh museum. ⭐️Very well curated and clean! 10/10 recommend. Kid friendly too!
So glad to hear you had a good time! Your coloring pages are also 10/10. Hope to see you again! -Aiden, Visitor Services
Esperienza fantastica: Saw the Japanese art exhibit here which was fun. Meandered around the rest of the museum. I’m not a fan of European art from the Middle Ages, just oils of the aristocracy. The Latin American art here is truly dark. So much so that we skipped most of it. Some of it was downright repulsive!
Esperienza fantastica: Surprisingly good collection for a smaller museum. With reading most of the displays I got through in about 2-2.5 hrs. Loved the Latin American expressionist stuff.
Esperienza fantastica: So much beautiful art here, and a wide variety of styles and subjects, so there's something for everyone to enjoy! The buildings are really fun to explore, and security was super friendly about sharing the rules. Will definitely be coming back and would absolutely reccomend the Blanton to any art enthusiasts!
Thank you, Xadin! We're bringing in some new art soon, so please come visit us again!-Aiden, Visitor Services
Esperienza fantastica: The Japanese exposition was marvelous. Highly recommended! Was a bit surprised not to find a single Georgia O'Keefe, though.
Esperienza fantastica: World-class museum on the UT campus. Outstanding selection of contemporary, and classic art, across mediums. Second Saturday of every month lets you snag some snacks, buy a drink, and listen to live music in the gallery space. True Austin gem.
Thank you for your review, Michael! So glad you came by during Second Saturday and got enjoy the event as well as the art! Hope to see you again,Aiden, Visitor Services
Esperienza fantastica: Lots of great art to check out. 2 stories of different art forms. Plus, the outdoor exhibit was fantastic. Just try and visit it when it's sunny to really see how amazing it is.
Nice photos, Dara! Thank you for your review, hopefully we'll see you again soon! -Aiden, Visitor Services
Esperienza positiva: We came to visit the museum for the first time on a rainy Saturday! There weren't many people there at opening. Their website says that entrance is free for military members because they are a blue star museum, but we were still charged even after showing our military ID's (though at a discounted rate). I would suggest making the website a little more clear on this and what the prices are! We happened to come on a members-only preview weekend, so we weren't allowed to enter the first 2 exhibit rooms on the main floor. The art upstairs was fun to look at and my kids said they enjoyed it more than they thought they would! That's a win!
Taylor, thank you for your review! Sorry about the confusion with Military pricing. Our website mentions that it is indeed free for active-duty personnel, but only from Armed Forces Day to Labor Day. And then discounted for the rest of the year! Super glad to hear the kiddos had fun--the photos look great! We hope to see you again!-Aiden, Visitor Services
Esperienza negativa: For me, it was a waste of time and money. Lack of diversity in art (98%) Latino art only. Boring displays etc. But what truly turned me off were the employees in blue that literally follow and circle you while viewing the art. No one should be followed and hovered over while respectfully viewing art. If you’re that untrustworthy of people, put everything in a display case.
The Blanton Museum of Art is home to over 21,000 works in our permanent collection—Latin American Art is indeed just one of our many highlights! Our Gallery Assistants are there to insure the safety of our visitors and the art. We apologize if at any point you felt uncomfortable as that is never our intention. In addition, the GAs are posted up in the galleries so our visitors can ask them about the art collection—they often receive training from the curators themselves! If you email us at [email protected], we'd appreciate any more information you could give us about your visit. We hope that you consider visiting again, Aiden, Visitor Services
Esperienza positiva: Beautiful art museum filled with great pieces. My only complaint is how close they let people get to some pieces and how children can run wild. Overall had a great time visiting.
Esperienza positiva: Went on a weekday during the 2023 holiday season. Very chill. Solid mix of art styles and perspectives.
Glad you had a good visit, and thanks for the review! The photo is really great too. -Aiden, Visitor Services
Esperienza fantastica: Very beautiful museum, from the building per se and the inside exhibitions. Tuesday is ticket free, good chance to come and visit.
Glad you came to visit, and thank you for the review! The pic is great too! -Aiden, Visitor Services
Esperienza fantastica: Came here with my sister on Tuesday , it’s free to visit on Tuesday! Had a great time beautiful captivating art ! I will be back
Can't wait to see you again! We're changing up some of the galleries as soon as mid-February!-Aiden, Visitor Services
Esperienza fantastica: There are some really great sculptures at the Blanton Museum of Art. One of my very favorites is the Plexus No.44 by Gabriel Dawe. The museum also has a fantastic contemporary art collection. Tuesdays are free admission! Definitely worth a visit!
Great pictures! And thank you for the review! Plexus No. 44 is one of my favorites too--so mesmerizing. We hope you visit us again! -Aiden, Visitor Services
Esperienza fantastica: I am an Austinite and this is the first time I have visited the Blanton. It was nice. Right now they have a central and South American exhibition of some phenomenal pieces. I think it is amazing that some young scientist dug this up somewhere, cleaned it up, cataloged it and got it ready for display. I like to think of the excitement of this scientist. This is also the first time I saw flint shaped I to something other than an arrowhead. Who knew you could make a flint scorpion. Overall I enjoyed the museum. I still don’t get modern art though. Many great paintings to see and one instillation that will make you rethink or think about colonialism.
So glad you had you finally came to visit! We change up our galleries a few time a year, so we hope you come back soon! The pics are great too :)-Aiden, Visitor Services
Esperienza fantastica: Breathtaking building filled with exquisite art. There was something beautiful to see in every space. Big fan of the Western/Southwestern art of Maynard Dixon and Marsden Hartley. Glad to see both on display. Thanks for the current exhibition on climate change.
And thank you for your kind words! We hope to see you again!-Aiden, Visitor Services
Esperienza fantastica: Wonderful small museum. The admission was reasonable and they give discounts for students. Great collection of art and nice view of the capitol.
Thank you so much! I'm happy to hear you enjoyed your visit, and we hope to see you again soon! -Lindsey
Esperienza positiva: Blanton has several different period pieces and decent representation. If you are looking for masterworks this isn’t your spot. Nice pieces but not swimming in VanGogh, Picasso, and Matisse. A few gallery areas were also closed. Not a bad experience at all. The Ellsworth Kelly piece “Austin” that is the giant chapel outside the entrance to the museum is a cool experience. If you don’t like modern art it may be a little strange. The outside sculptures in the courtyard are iconic and flowing while still very functional as shade and a framing mechanism for the Capitol Mall.
Thank you for your review! I'm happy to hear you enjoyed your time in our galleries, as well as Austin and our grounds. Our European galleries are fully reopened, and we look forward to welcoming you back soon! -Lindsey
Esperienza fantastica: Amazing, as always. The wife and daughter brought me to view the Ancient Maya Exhibit in display, L.A. So many other exhibits to take in, on two huge floors. if you're into museums and the things in them don't be afraid to spend an entire day here.
Thank you so much for your review! I'm so happy to hear you enjoyed Forces of Nature, we are so excited to have this special presentation of works from the Los Angeles County Museum Of Art. We'll look forward to having you back for your next all-day art excursion! -Lindsey
Esperienza fantastica: Blanton was the 1st museum ive checked out after moving out here. Was a good choice, they had pretty much all kind of arts from ancient to modern. The building itself is beautiful. Will come by again for sure.
We are so honored to be your inaugural Austin museum! Thanks for coming by, and we'll see you next time! -Lindsey
Esperienza fantastica: Made a last minute decision to go here today and ended up with a free ticket - I guess Tuesdays are free days. It was a great experience! Very relaxing and meditative, and we had a wonderful time checking out all of the artwork. I think my favorite exhibit was the Latin American Contemporary Art. Highly recommend!
Yay, glad you made the decision to come! We are indeed free admission every Tuesday. Our art is always rotating, so there will always be something new to see. We hope to welcome you back soon! -Liz
Esperienza fantastica: The museum is structured very well and it’s easy to navigate. It’s great if you’re interested in art and history and want to see exhibits that challenge you to consider the world around you! No photos are allowed, neither is food, drink, or touching the art which of course makes sense! Tuesdays are free!!
Thank you for your thoughtful review, Juwan! One of my favorite things about art is how it can offer a new perspective :) We look forward to your next visit! -Lindsey
Esperienza fantastica: Beautiful art museum with more pieces than you can truly look at in one day! Seriously, it's big and they have a lot of art, from classical pieces to modern and beyond, from all over the world. I've been to other very nice art museums and loved them, but this one stands out just for its sheer breadth and variety. Also, those historically inclined will likely get more out of this than other art museums that focus on more modern work!
You're making us blush, Santiago! Thank you for this thoughtful review, we're so delighted you enjoyed your experience. Hope to welcome you back soon! -Liz
Esperienza fantastica: We finally went after living here for 2 years with family visitors across ages. Everyone loved it. The Mayan art exhibit was incredible. I didn't realize how expansive this place was so we'll have to return to see it all. Beautiful space and grounds and knowledgable docents. I suspect art students given their knowledge of the pieces. Very reasonably priced and easy parking. Nice view of the capitol as well.
Thank you, Audrey! I'm so happy to hear you and your family enjoyed your visit. We're always rotating exhibits so definitely come back and see us again. -Lindsey
Esperienza positiva: Well presented in a great space. The highlights for me were the outdoor spaces and the indoor displays were good and worth seeing.
Thank you, Eric! I'm so happy to hear that you're enjoying our new grounds!-Lindsey
Esperienza fantastica: An amazing experience!! I highly recommend you go any time if you can!
What wonderful pictures! Thank you for the recommendation, I'm so glad you enjoyed your visit.-Lindsey
Esperienza fantastica: Was attracted by the alien looking sculpture outside and decided to check it out, this is definitely a beautiful gallery with lots of variety.
Ha, the alien looking sculptures might be the "Petals" and we're so glad for the shade and wonderful shadow projections. We're so glad you came to visit, Angie. We hope to welcome you back soon! -Liz
Esperienza fantastica: Beautiful museum, friendly staff and the best… no charge for UT students visit it and have a great time. Ignore those people who think they know about art

Esperienza fantastica: My daughter Stephanie and I loved all the wonderful artwork and the statues that were at the museum. We will be coming back again. Great mother-daughter time.
This is fantastic to hear, Tina! And kudos for bringing your daughter along, we love seeing families at the museum. In case you're interested, we have a "Families" section on our website which includes downloadable coloring pages and more. We hope to welcome y'all back again soon! -Liz
Esperienza fantastica: I went solo had good time. Wished had sketch book and pencil. Loved outdoor area bring your lunch. Museum is very big so many rooms lots of art to explore. I came on free day so parking price didn't bother me.. if you come on cooler day you can cross the street to Capitol Mall.
Great photos, Merc! And bring your sketch book next time, would love to see how your interpret the museum and grounds. We hope to welcome you back soon! -Liz
Esperienza fantastica: Amazing as always...Absolutely LOVE the flower petal canopies in the court yard. The Ellsworth Kelly pavilion is magical, especially when the sun beams through the stained glass windows. The modern exhibit is always a treat. The temporary (should be permanent) Global Warming exhibit is a must see.
This glowing review is making us blush, Janna! Thank you for noticing all these details, we're very proud of the new grounds redesign and those Petals are already so loved. We hope to welcome you back again soon! -Liz
Esperienza fantastica: Wonderful museum with thought provoking pieces. Highly recommend stopping in when in Austin!
Esperienza fantastica: Really well put together and enjoyed the art. I debated on removing one star as the area before the video room was not stocked with paper as there were tables for kids and sdults to express their creativity in the moment. Also gift shop was very pricy, but I feel all museums are like that.
Hi Cisme,Thank you so much for your review, we really appreciate the feedback and hope to see you again soon!-Lindsey, VVS
Esperienza fantastica: Blanton is now offering a beautiful outdoor space to picnic and listen to live music and of course peruse the museum. The Blanton is a beautiful building and has some exceptional art to admire and rotating exhibits of course.
Thank you so much! I'm so glad you're enjoying our new grounds. Hope to see you back soon :)-Lindsey, VVS
Esperienza fantastica: Great museum with plenty to see. Price is not bad and on Second Saturdays they serve food that is included with your admission.
Esperienza positiva: The art collection is great however we were so excited to get to know the chapel which is temporarily closed
