Esperienza fantastica: Outside area just opened up. So many fun things to do. Kids absolutely love the art and building. Love that they do community hours Tuesday and Sunday. Helps families that can not afford to go but would like to enjoy a day out with the kids!

Esperienza fantastica: A special place where to bring you g children to be engaged for a long time in activities that brings their learning alive, with an interactive hands on experience!! The place is super-organised and has been built with children in mind! ABSOLUTELY BRILLIANT!

Esperienza negativa: Do not book a birthday party here. A few years ago, they offered a full program, but no longer. It says in the website that they had a photo backdrop, birthday crown, and Thinkery accessory. We got none of that. The room was a mess when we finally got in. The staff was not really present to help us with much of anything. It was a terrible experience as a parent. Our child got to run around, but that’s about it. When I called to tell the staff that I was disappointed, they said they needed to change the website and they would talk to the staff. When I asked about some compensation, I was told “we can’t do that at this time.” I get it, they are a nonprofit, but I paid money to be there, and I was expecting at least the items I was promised. I added a screenshot from their website from today. They do not offer those things. Please don’t be fooled like I was.

Esperienza negativa: The price is high for what it is considering it is a flat rate of $18 for all ages & there are only 4 exhibits that may not be appropriate for all ages.

garibelle Jones 2 months ago

Esperienza negativa: They did not send out the memo that they no longer do free services on Sunday. they are now Tuesday and Thursdays so when I showed up on Sunday to have my family go and play she told me it was $55 for two adults and one kid

Esperienza positiva: It’s okay… not the best for our 18 month old. She had more fun at the Doseum in San Antonio. Seems more geared towards older kiddos here

Esperienza fantastica: This was our first time here and it was such a pleasant experience. Everything was clean, the staff was attentive, and there was something for each age group. We've been to other STEM based centers in other cities and this one blew those away. Will definitely be back!

Esperienza negativa: We have enjoyed coming here for a few years but it really has become run down, needs a deep clean, a refresh, new stations, the list goes on. Thinkery needs more financial help to expand, the exhibits are simple and boring, one and done kind of thing.

Esperienza negativa: Visited on a busy Saturday afternoon, line to check in was out the front door, with about 5 people in front of me. My 4 year old needed to go to the restroom and could not hold it. I approached the counter and asked one of clerks (Louis) if I could run to the RR and come back to check in. He raised his voice and said that I could not and that I needed to check in first. He said I could step out and use one of the restrooms from the businesses around the corner. Not only that, he held out his arms as if he was stopping a shop lifter. Unacceptable behavior towards an adult, nevertheless a toddler. When I asked the girl checking me out for his name, she added that he has been working at the museum for a long time, as if that excuses the behavior. I am terribly disappointed and saddened that this is the way a children’s museum employees treat others. Empathy and kindness goes a long way.

Esperienza negativa: Adults pay full price. Activity wise they were ok- could do so much better, some of the areas are just lame. For my 3.5 year old there wasn’t much he really enjoyed- especially due to the fact that it gets so crowded, a suggestions would be they should have sessions and limit the amount of people at any given time , or expand it and make these sections bigger, but then again that $$$. No eating area, no snacks allowed, how’s this a kid friendly place? Also, the upstairs bathrooms have such loud noises it was very overwhelming, toilets and hand dryers from from ladies bathrooms could be heard in the men’s, add to that the men’s toilets and hand dryers. Was very loud my son was covering his ears and was in fear to use toilet. I guess we go here because it’s closer. Or maybe because we went to the Doseum in San Antonio we’ve gotten spoiled.

Esperienza fantastica: It was great experience for the kids! I recommend it. The best part was you could leave and come back if needed as long as you had the sticker for that day.

Inez Arevalo 2 months ago

Esperienza negativa: My family and I were very disappointed with this place. We thought it would be a lot bigger. This place is nothing compared to San Antonio's DoSeum. Seems to be more enjoyable for toddlers. My 9 yr old and 14 yr old were bored.

Samuel Lawrence 2 months ago

Esperienza negativa: A relatively small facility with a limited number of thematically scattered activities. Many activities are nonfunctional. Really most appropriate for kids in the 3-5 year age bracket, older children are likely to be bored and unengaged. A lot of "messy" activities likely to get both children and parents wet and/or dirty as well; a change of clothes will be needed. Hard to recommend at the price point.

Mary Alfeche 2 months ago

Esperienza fantastica: We went with our 12 month old to the Baby bloomers session and had a blast! They had several activities set up for babies and toddlers to enjoy. We will definitely go again.

Lawless 2 months ago

Esperienza negativa: This place is filthy(see photos). This place can also be unsafe for children. I saw this young lady (who hands out color paper to kids) coughing and wiping her running nose quite a few times. After I reported to a man at the front desk, they replaced her. Thank goodness.

S Tisdale 2 months ago

Esperienza positiva: I can see the appeal of the simplistic layout and rooms with interactive elements. 8 and 10yo were entertained for a bit but we were out in an hour. It felt more geared toward littles vs all age kids. We had fun and it is a fun interactive activity, but wouldn't travel to Austin just for the Thinkery. Parking was close in a garage and validated, that was greatly appreciated.

John Ashley 2 months ago

Esperienza fantastica: Absolutely wonderful. My 5yr and 2yr kids loved the museum. There was enough stuff for both to be engaged and enjoy their time. The water part inside was a big hit. The water feature outside was a big hit. The only thing I wish is that we got there earlier to stay longer. I also wish there was one in Dallas!

Veronica Betts 2 months ago

Esperienza fantastica: The Thinkery is always a fun place, but I definitely recommend going during the week, if you can. It will still be fun, but it can get crazy busy during holidays, days kids can't play outside (i.e. extra hot or rainy days), and/or the weekend. Just expect that, and you'll do alright. There is the wonderful water play room, play kitchen, farmer's market, and a soft toddler play area (babies/toddlers only) upstairs. Note: There are elevators for those with any mobility issues. Downstairs has interactive exhibits such as light, motion, simple machines, making your own stop motion animation, a creative maker space type corner, and more! Of course, there's also the water play and playground areas outside, so don't forget to hit those up! There isn't food in The Thinkery, but there are many restaurants nearby. You'll be given that day's Thinkery admission sticker, so you can come and go as you please/need to. Be careful to not put the sticker in a place that might wash off, though. Their gift shop is small but cute and has some pretty cool looking stuff in there for multiple ages! One of the best parts? They reimburse parking for up to 3 hours in the garage nearby, so that's awesome! Granted, I would still plan on paying some for parking, if you will be eating while in the area. However, every little bit helps! We'll definitely be back!

Esperienza fantastica: Our children had a good time. We happened to go on Juneteenth so they had some extra activities. Love the free passes on certain days.

Maxime Beauchemin 2 months ago

Esperienza fantastica: Excellent activity to do with a child of nearly any age. Our son was 13 months and not yet walking during his visit and found lots of things very entertaining to play with. He loved the water room upstairs, though he may have gotten a little too enthusiastic about the splashing. He was also a big fan of the small kids area upstairs since he didn't have big kids running around in there.

Jessica Steele 2 months ago

Esperienza fantastica: Loved it, spent a combined 4 hours there as we were able to come and go if we kept our admission sticker.

Ben D 2 months ago

Esperienza negativa: $18 for each person regardless of the age. Not worth the ticket price with the size of space. Much smaller than other similar children museums in cities at Washington, California, and Arizona state. Don’t pay your street parking if you plan to visit because of the ticket validations inside. We saw the ticket validation machine after paid 2-hour parking. My kids got bored and only stayed for less than 1-hour.

Esperienza fantastica: This place is awesome a great way to spend an afternoon with the kids, lots of interactive displays and exhibits, fun for kids and adults. There's a very nice park next door with a pond and restaurants within walking distance.

Jackie Loscuito 3 months ago

Esperienza positiva: Awesome idea and still would be cool if the different exhibits all worked and tolerant worn out. Ex. The magnifying items are in solid acrylic and they are so scratched up you can’t properly see the items within. The water area smells of sewer and most the features are missing parts

Jessica Morris 3 months ago

Esperienza fantastica: We first discovered the Thinkery through Pogo Pass and we've been back several times now. There is a huge variety of things for kids to do and so many ways for them to learn through play. There are two water play areas so bring a change of clothes for your kid(s).

Megan walker 3 months ago

Esperienza negativa: This wasn't we thought it would be. I came with my 16 month old I didn't feel like the baby section was for a younger crawling baby now that he is walking he seemed to be bored easy and was ready to go. The water table was smaller than expected and although I thought it was lacking on activities it was the only thing that kept his attention. Definitely meant for older kids such as 5 and up

Diana H. 3 months ago

Esperienza positiva: Great place for kids ages up to 10 in my opinion; very interactive areas and across the street is a large playground! They try to keep up with restrooms staying sanitary BUT keep in mind kids are going to be kids so bring your own hygiene pack!

Brandi Kitchens 3 months ago

Esperienza fantastica: I was a little unsure about bringing my slightly older boys (ages 8 & 11) because all of the pictures online look to be prek age kids. We are from out of state and thought we'd give it a try before we went back home. I'm so glad we did! Our family had a wonderful time. There are many rooms filled with things 8-11 year old boys love. There was so much to do. We stayed for several hours and will definitely go back during our next trip to Texas.

abi Gutierrez 3 months ago

Esperienza positiva: Although it’s a great place for hands on activities the place felt very chaotic. There’s a section that allows the kids to play with water, located up stairs that was just completely disappointing. There was several field trips taking place that they, older kids seem to be around 7-9 years old that were throwing toys across the room. Not to mention some of them were climbing in, the parents & teacher were watching and laughing and while it’s definitely a kid place my toddler & others could not enjoy.

Marissa Montejano 3 months ago

Esperienza fantastica: We bought the yearly membership after our second visit because I knew we would have no problem coming here at least once a week. There is so much for various age groups and he’s always loved it. Parking in the McBee garage is comped if you validate it inside Thinkery. It’s across the street from a park and also nearby several great restaurants. So thankful there’s such an awesome place for kids!

Mark & Gina Walker 3 months ago

Esperienza positiva: Underwhelming for the price! 3 hours parking free - insert your ticket inside to validate. I recently visited the Thinkery in Austin with my two children, ages 5 and 7, and unfortunately, the experience did not meet our expectations. Having visited other children's museums, I was disappointed by the relatively high price of admission compared to the quality and variety of exhibits offered. Many of the rooms felt sparse and underwhelming, with several displays appearing overused and in need of repair. Despite the museum's mission to inspire creativity and curiosity, the limited number of engaging activities left my children feeling bored after about an hour. Given their independent and inquisitive nature, I had hoped for a more stimulating and fulfilling visit. Overall, the Thinkery fell short of providing the enriching experience we had anticipated.

Joel Muiller 3 months ago

Esperienza fantastica: TL;DR: A fun experience for the whole family! Coming back soon. This was our first experience in a children's museum and weren't quite sure what to expect. We were initially turned off to the amount of children we saw out front that were visiting on a Tuesday but nevertheless had already made the trip from San Antonio where we were staying and didn't feel like driving back without giving it a fair chance. We did not realize how massive the museum is from just looking at it from the outside, but once inside we were impressed with how much there was to do. We also want to take a second and thank all the staff members who willingly engaged our child and helped her make the most of her experience. The only improvement we would like to see is their "re-entry sticker" system. They were small and didn't stick well to the materials of our shirts. Both my wife and I ended up losing ours somewhere within the building but luckily didn't want to risk leaving early without completing the building first. Although I am sure the staff would've given us new ones, we didn't see it worth the hassle. We would visit here again and look forward to doing so in future trips!

Nicole Delgado 3 months ago

Esperienza positiva: Went here on community day and it was so easy to reserve the time, easy to park, and the activities seemed fun for my kids. Dropped one star because many areas were closed or didn't have a staff available for activities. Probably just an end of day fluke, but overall was VERY cool!

Jonas Miller 4 months ago

Esperienza fantastica: An outstanding children's museum across the street from one of the best parks in Austin. Everything is interactive and educational. I've been bringing my boy since he was 1 year old. There are many different areas with themed activities such as the baby area, the light room, the mechanical room, the water table room, the craft room, etc. Don't miss the three-story play structure in the courtyard. I recommend looking into the annual membership, which is a super deal if you live close by. They do validate for the parking garage nearby. Daily hours are a bit odd so check the schedule. Some weekdays there are school field trips so the place will be packed with children. Sunday and Tuesday afternoons are free admission 3pm - 5pm.

Leo Light 4 months ago

Esperienza negativa: Horrible staff and or policies. I arrived with 15 minutes left until closing time to pick up my daughter and was kicked out because tickets weren’t being sold anymore. Even though my wife left the building and I took her place for the last 15 minutes of being open. My daughter just wanted to show me the water section. I’ll find another place to take my daughter to have fun in a more inviting and friendly environment.

Pam Foster 4 months ago

Esperienza positiva: Went in a filed trip with my grandson's school It was a pretty cool place, much smaller than I imagined. I though too many people were allowed in at one time. The staff was nice, but I think for the cost of an entry ticket of 18.00 dollars they should have staff available to help students with how to use things in the museum. It seemed some things needed repairing. Overall a fun time and the area has just blown up with beautiful parks, shopping, and restaurants. I definitely feel this is geared for younger elementary age boys and girls.

Amber Gabriel 4 months ago

Esperienza fantastica: The Thinkery is an interactive children's STEAM museum. Several themed rooms spanning two levels, including an outdoor play area, give children a variety of opportunities to experiment with simple machines, light, paint, circuits, and more. Most labels and instructions are dual language (English and Spanish). There is an elevator upstairs. Sundays from 3pm to 5 pm are free. Employees were on hand in every area to supervise and answer questions. Families roamed the exhibits as both adults and children enjoyed the puzzles and experiments. The crowds downtown made navigating the streets a challenge, but I quickly found a parking space in a nearby park. My favorite thing was the giant light brights. Highly recommend for children 3 to 8ish.

Marco Lozano 5 months ago

Esperienza fantastica: The kiddos loved the Thinkery. Especially the water areas. I would recommend taking a change of clothes in case the kids have too much fun with the water.

Sandra Pelton 5 months ago

Esperienza positiva: I was a bit disappointed. Prices are high, parking garage info was not clear (so street parking expensive) and museum not very large. Some of upper level exhibits were closed. Other children's interactive museums in other cities offer much more for less. C'mon Austin!

Esperienza fantastica: What a treat! From the Airport to the Thinkery was the best gift for the traveling Littles. Thanks to a well curated learning experience from the joyful Staff/Volunteers/Merry Museum Makers of the community ✨️ A great template for smaller cities/ towns to adapt and adopt as a community project. We'll done!

Esperienza fantastica: Fun and so many cool things for the kiddos! Different things for the kids to learn and do. I like that they have aprons for when you paint or are in the water area. Definitely will be going back!

Jennie Hemphill 5 months ago

Esperienza negativa: Be SURE you are charged correctly they will NOT give you a refund. I was charged for 5 tickets when I asked for 3. Management refused to give me a refund stating they are a non profit therefore they cannot give a refund. This is unacceptable and unprofessional when it was the employees mistake! I'm out of town guest so a free pass means nothing to me when I don't plan on coming back. Now I'm here and wanted to have a fun time with my two kids and I'm just upset that I was robbed of $40. I will disputing with my credit card company!

Esperienza fantastica: thinkery museum is very nice place for the kids of all ages. They have variety of sensory play areas which keeps the kids occupied. Our favorite was the light area and the water area which was fun. Localities can take year pass and make use of it to the fullest. For parking please park the car in the mc bee street multilevel parking which will be validated at the thinkery and the charges are voided. If you park in street it won't be considered.

Esperienza positiva: So much fun! I don’t think it makes much sense for parents to pay the same amount as the kids but definitely a great place for kids. Wish we could have stayed longer. Most likely will be returning.

Esperienza fantastica: The Thinkery was a part of my children's childhood. Many good memories were shared there. It came as no surprise when my first grandbaby became a toddler Mama was ready to get out to the Thinkery. I love this amazing space for the littles in our lives. There are so many different types of areas to choose from water area, grocery, and market store for imagination play, the bloom room for our littles etc. Each area is great for opening up sensory & engaged play. Honestly, the fees are kind of high, but well worth it if you make a day of it. You can enjoy a park next door and pack a picnic and enjoy the view, then come back in for some more playtime.

Katie Coffman 5 months ago

Esperienza positiva: This is kind of a two part review. If you are in Austin or going to visit Austin and looking at this review to determine whether you should take your kids then I’d say yes, it’s a great way to spend half a day and your kids will probably have a great time! My kids are 4 and 7 and we’ve brought them here several times and they have had a fabulous time every time! They rate it pretty high, 4-5 stars! The second part of this review is why I gave it 3 stars. Austin is such a tech and research hub and a growing, exciting city and I just feel like the Thinkery doesn’t really reflect that or take full advantage of it. There could be so many partnership opportunities to have sponsored tech and medical hands on exploration/learning exhibits for kids and it’s just not there. We usually try to visit children’s or science museums whenever we go on trips (Columbus, Indianapolis, Oklahoma City, South Bend, Youngstown Ohio) because it’s always a fun way to spend time with our kids and the Thinkery definitely seems to be on the lower end of the spectrum of what we have experienced.

Esperienza negativa: Don’t buy tickets online. It’s pointless it doesn’t save time and it’s confusing because there isn’t a line for online tickets. I walked looking for somewhere to scan our tickets to enter and finally asked the guy at the register of the store. He said I had to make the line where you buy tickets which had grown while I walked around looking. Meanwhile him and two other employees were standing around with no customers. My family had already went inside and I waited for 15 minutes to get scanned in. The same guy from the register walked in and found my family and brought them to the front because they didn’t have stickers. My sister said he was really rude when she asked if they could just wait by the toys in the first room while I checked in because we had toddlers that could not wait in the gift shop. He ended up checking us in when he realized I was with them and that he screwed up because he could have checked me in 15 minutes earlier. I wish I knew the situation because he deserved to hear it from me. I was with family from out of town that I haven’t seen in years and only had one day to spend with them so he robbed us of 15 minutes we could have been together. But of course everyone else in line had their kids inside. The person in front of me even had 9 kids with no tickets inside when I had tickets for my family but they got kicked out. Then the person behind me was complaining about the member line not being open. They have a remote scanner so all of this is not necessary. It’s just really unorganized and there is clearly a lack of management. This was a Wednesday I couldn’t imagine a weekend day. In general the employees are terrible. They walk around acting so inconvenienced by customers. They close whole stations and put up a lot of the toys over an hour early. It’s only open until 3 pm it’s not like it’s 8 or 9 pm. The outside area was even closed. From a management perspective there were way too many employees doing nothing when their schedules could be staggered and the place can be opened a little later. The water station had way too much chlorine. It should be tested regularly because there is no way it should smell so strong. Id worry about chlorine gas especially with the kids being shorter and closer to the water than adults. Overall the concept is a great idea and kids will always have fun with rooms full of things to play with but disappointed in the management. As a scientist myself I don’t agree with the lack of interaction as it does nothing to encourage STEM. Employees should walk around explaining the science and getting kids excited about STEM not walking around trying to make people leave an hour early.

Esperienza negativa: My kids and I have loved this place for years, however we just booked the party room for a birthday party and the floor was filthy, hair balls , food crumbs, and dust all over where our children were to play and enjoy their time. The mod Stephanie had the nerve to tell us it was cleaned prior.

Mandy 5 months ago

Esperienza positiva: Great for children. There are tons of activities for kids to become infatuated with. I recommend packing an extra set of clothes or a towel for the water and paint station. I think the place would benefit from having personnel regularly check on each station to replenish supplies or to clear stuff away. For younger children, it can be chaotic on busier days since they may need to wait to do an activity.

Samantha Martinez 5 months ago

Esperienza positiva: Went during the school week with elementary kids as a volunteer. Not much to offer for kids at the actual thinkers- no food l, cafeteria , limited restrooms. But lots of interactive zones for the kids. There are also limited stations for washing hands. With younger kids- (toddlers). There is a small area in the front for them and the water station is another place they can play but not much else. There is however, a playground right outside and it is really nice! Oh and parking is not good but you can find parking around the near by neighborhood that is free.

Esperienza fantastica: We had an great time at Thinkery. They offer various indoor and outdoor spaces filled with interactive activities designed to not only entertain but also educate children about science and develop their sensory skills. Highly recommended!

Joey Smith 5 months ago

Esperienza negativa: First and foremost the place can be great and maybe I’m overreacting. My issue is that they are not setup for families bigger than 2 adults and two kids. You cannot leave you child’s side at all or they will get on you about it. I understand some of this but if my 3 year old is inside the toddler section and I’m just outside the door for it that should be good enough. Again the place can be really fun but don’t go with more then 2 kids.

Esperienza fantastica: Went with some mom friends- lots of things to do and learn for all ages. We brought 7 girls ranging from age 20 months to 5 years, and they all had a great time. Park in the associated parking garage- you can get 2 hours comped if you bring your receipt in. Two areas have water features for kiddos- they'll most likely get wet so I would do those areas last. We've been a handful of times and definitely recommend!

Esperienza negativa: Honestly I was very disappointed in the whole experience. I brought my two toddlers on a Thursday morning and it was so busy with school field trips that we weren't able to do much. It was dirty and just not enough to do for the amount of kids there. The actual exhibits were cool and fun, but many were only accessible for a few kids at a time so it just felt like most of the time we spent waiting for an area to calm down some. My kids were very overstimulated and sad to not really get to do much there. I hate to say it, but certainly not worth the price!

Esperienza negativa: I was really looking forward to this day, but was extremely underwhelmed. The prices are the same no matter what age, and really high for what you get. The playscape outside is really not meant for kids under 5 (there should be signs letting parents be aware). A lot of the tinker tables and activities were not working properly, and/or were not explained or demonstrated. Kids would get bored or frustrated and just walk away. Worst of all, the area upstairs where you can free play has a "soft area" for babies/toddlers. My 6 year old was not allowed in, nor was my almost 3yr old because the cut off was 2.5yr. (Eye roll). Later as we walked past, they were allowing two 12 year old pre-teens inside. When I asked why they were allowed, she replied "they are siblings of a baby, so they're allowed". So my 6 and 3yr old were hard NO, but two grown preteen age girls can go in? Ridiculous.

Esperienza fantastica: Fun for kids and adults of ALL abilities! I love that my special needs child gets to interact with typical developing children, and there’s a ton of activities and stations for him to do. There is an elevator for easy access for strollers and wheelchairs which makes exploring the museum a breeze. We love that most stations are in English, Spanish, and Braille. Garage parking is validated and there’s tons of places to eat nearby.

Esperienza fantastica: Наш любимый интерактивный музей Visited the park recently and was thoroughly impressed! With its vast expanse and numerous play areas catering to children of all ages, it's truly a haven for families. From toddlers to teens, there's something for everyone here. The variety of activities ensures that no one gets bored, making it a perfect outing for the whole family. Highly recommend!

Esperienza fantastica: The best overall place to take a 3 year old if you’re looking to spark or gain interest in just about anything. The staff is great and we always end up with a new fantastic experience each time we go!

Esperienza negativa: This place used to be very well maintained but I feel like it’s increased prices again and hasn’t made any upgrades and it’s not clean. Staff used to sanitize toys quickly and change them out and I never see that happen. They don’t even put all the toys for an area out anymore. Like for example, the water outside used to have floating toys and they didn’t even put them out even though a staff member walked out to do that. She had the toys for floating in a box walked out and walked right back in and didn’t place them where they were supposed to go. It seems like the staff do not like kids at all. The bathrooms are super dirty. This is definitely a place you will get a virus from since it’s obviously unclean.

Esperienza positiva: After visiting for the first time and considering its GA Admission and Membership prices I believe this place needs to be better maintained. Theres a lot of foot traffic and the carpets in the second floor need a cleaning. The furniture for babies and toddlers needs to be replaced. There was foam noodles bitten off by children. Maybe having employees going around for a look around to remove toys that are damaged can be helpful. Definitely overpriced admission for this museum.

Esperienza fantastica: Our 2 year old would have stayed all day if we let him. From the train set at the entrance to the water exhibit and the toddler area, he had a blast!

Esperienza positiva: During the week, get there early before the school groups. From about 10.30 it is chaos. Downstairs has great activities for 6 to 10 year olds. Upstairs is really more for toddlers except the water area.

Esperienza positiva: We had no choice but to come on a Sunday, so we knew it would be crowded, but man, the parking in the area was terrible! The McBee parking garage was so full, people were bumper to bumper just circling all the floors. Thankfully the Thinkery validated for 3 hours, so we ended up only paying $4 for 5 hours of parking. The Thinkery itself felt a bit chaotic. As with many similar places, you'll find kids playing without their parents nearby. A few times we were waiting to play something and the child was on it for at least 10 mins when clearly there was a line waiting to play. The parent was just standing on the side on the phone, and didn't even have the courtesy to encourage their child to let others have a turn. The facility is great - lots to do and much that kids would enjoy. But I think I overestimated a little - I'd heard such great things that I thought my kids would be able to last a few hours...nope. They lasted only about 2. and then we went across the street to the playground to play. Not sure I would want to bring my kids to play at the Thinkery again. It was great as a one time visit though!

Esperienza positiva: Thinkery encourages children to explore and develop critical thinking, problem-solving, and collaboration skills thru hands-on experiences. And they give free admission on Sunday 3 to 5pm. Free parking is available in the McBee Street District Garage during general admission hours.

Esperienza positiva: Great interactive fun for my 8 year old granddaughter. Lots of activities, really cool place to visit

Esperienza fantastica: We love going to the Thinkery and frequent it about 3 times a month. Our 4 yr old autistic son loves the shadow/light room, the farmers market, and the water current exhibits the most. We even threw his 3rd birthday party in their birthday/events room. They have discounted fees for Texas STAR (SNAP) members as well as days/times with free entrance for everyone. Parking in the garage is easy since the Thinkery offers 3 hour parking validation. I highly recommend the Thinkery!!!

Esperienza positiva: If you're like me, you walk into this place thinking, "Huh, there's really not all that much here. This [4yo] kid's going to get bored really fast." Then, 2 hours later, while the kid is still having a blast shooting ping pong balls through tubes, making dinner with plastic produce, or climbing a rope tower, you'll be thinking "This is why you don't write reviews of kids stuff until it's been kid tested." My only complaint is, man, I wish they had more adult seating (see above about the kid still going strong after 2 hours).

Esperienza positiva: After a year of membership and multiple visits, we've decided not to renew for a few reasons. 1. While the concept is appealing, the lack of activity rotation became a significant drawback. Initially exciting, my son quickly grew bored as the novelty wore off. The limited variety in the four downstairs rooms, two upstairs areas, reading zone, and toddler space, coupled with persistently broken stations, made each visit feel repetitive and disappointing. 2. Way too many kids. DO NOT bring your kid here if their sensory threshold is easily met. They will be overwhelmed and shut down. The overwhelming number of kids proved challenging, especially for my son, who is sensitive to sensory stimuli. Too many kids, making too much noise, not allowing for any one child to take their time to process what is in front of them makes this place a horror show with anyone who experiences sensory overload. 3. The high cost of admission. There's nothing really for the parents to do. So we are basically paying good money to babysit our own kids. And since the activities do not change, it's boring for the parents too. On our last trip, if it wasn't for the special birthday event and the magnet train set by the front, we would have been in and out in under 20 minutes, it was that boring and nerve-wrecking for the kiddo. In summary, the Thinkery fell short of expectations, primarily due to stagnant activities, sensory overload, and a lack of value for the cost. If your child isn't bothered by loud environments and you have a few hours to spare, it might be worth checking out the Thinkery once but can't recommend a membership at this time.

Esperienza fantastica: This place is truly amazing. Your kids will be having too much fun to notice that they’re about science. There are enough stations to keep them happy for hours, but with free reentry, you can take a break, go for lunch or a walk in the park, and come back for a second round when you’re ready. Pro tip: there is no way your kids are going to avoid getting wet in the water area. They have a very limited number of waterproof aprons and Crocs available for them to use, but even if you get your hands on these, your kids will get wet. Plan ahead.

Esperienza fantastica: A great place! Our 3 and 6 year old were both kept busy and had a great time. If your child likes water play make sure to bring a change of clothes! The water area is so fun but they get very wet.

Esperienza fantastica: Love coming here to let my child explore and play! I’ve gone twice and both times super packed. There’s something to do for all ages. A couple crawling baby areas and a lot for the older kids to indulge and in and let their imaginations go wild! Great place. Kids under 2 are free.

Esperienza fantastica: Neat spot to burn off the Thanksgiving weekend wiggles! Kids really enjoyed the outdoor playground as well. Shadow wall was a favorite. Lots of activities, never had to wait more than a few minutes for any of them.

Esperienza positiva: It's not worth the price of 2 tickets. I did take my 2-year-old. Especially if there are having school events. Luckily for my daughter, she managed not to get hurt. It's only got a small section for kids 3 and under.

Esperienza fantastica: Very well structured children's museum with lots of activities within a relatively small space. Has plenty for the 1-2 age group which I've often struggled with at other museums. Definitely worth a visit.

Mark Markovich 10 months ago

Esperienza fantastica: This is a unique place, at least in my experience. The place is filled with various devices and components your child can use to perform experiences and construct various devices. The concept of providing children with such things isn't unique. You'll find such activities in various museums that cater to children. What is unique is constructing a museum almost entirely around such things. I think you could bring a child here regularly, and they'd never run out of me things to do.

Esperienza fantastica: I was keeping my 3yr old granddaughter and decided to go to the Thinkery. After reading mixed reviews I was not sure what to expect. Given I have never been to any other children's museums I did not have anything to compare to but OMG this place is fabulous! First, parking is not easy unless you use the garage next to it. The Thinkery will validate the parking ticket (just make sure you insert the ticket the correct direction in the machine to get the validation). There is no food or drink allowed so it floors me that others have given bad reviews for blatantly violating this policy. And there are also bins around to place items that belong to the Thinkery into that may have made it into a child's mouth or gotten dirty if people will just follow directions. We went during a paid time (I'm sure the free community hours are packed and harder to interact). I purchased tickets online the night before and it did not take long to get in since we had the QR code on my phone that they scanned when we entered. The market area upstairs and the light room downstairs were where my granddaughter spent most of her time but I had to be firm about leaving after 3 hours and we still didn't make it to every area to play. She could have literally spent the entire day there! We will definitely be going back again to make it through the rest of the areas. The entire place is not as large as I had envisioned but it is jam packed with so many interactive things that it's more than sufficient for most children. I did notice that some younger kids struggled at some stations without a lot of adult help and some older kids played but quickly got bored and moved to another area faster but for a child 2-6 they will definitely spend a lot of enjoyable time there. Make sure to bring an extra change of clothes. We had a water mishap half way through and I was thankful I was smart enough to have an extra change of clothes with us!

Esperienza fantastica: Really enjoyed our time here on a Tuesday afternoon. We were visiting with our 9 month old and although she was too young for most exhibits, she loved the baby/toddler play corner. Would recommend and visit again.
