Esperienza fantastica: Laguna molto bella con parco di sculture. Sicuramente vale la pena visitarla.

Esperienza positiva: I love and support Austin museums, and I really enjoy contemporary art. However, I was a bit disappointed with this museum. The park it’s located in is beautiful and an amazing place to hike. But the art selection is very limited and not very impressive. I planned the trip a week ahead to ensure a guided tour, but the tour guide didn't show up on the day, leaving us to wander around on our own. There weren't any good spots with explanations about the art pieces. When we asked ChatGPT to tell us more about the pieces, there wasn't much to say—nothing really exciting or memorable. Overall, it's a beautiful location, but the experience was disappointing.

Esperienza fantastica: The Contemporary Austin - Laguna Gloria is a stunning blend of art and nature. The beautiful lakeside location and the impressive sculpture garden make for a serene and inspiring visit. The historic villa adds a touch of elegance, and the rotating exhibitions ensure there's always something new to see. A must-visit for art lovers in Austin!

Jonno Norton 2 months ago

Esperienza fantastica: Absolutely incredible! I recommend to come on one of the free nights if you get the chance. We were in town for the weekend and found this beautiful gem and managed to get free admission too. Score! The grounds are perfectly manicured and it's generally a mansion on the lake with trails and sculptures everywhere. Think of it as an outdoor art museum.

Esperienza fantastica: Wow. How is it that I grew up in Austin but am only now visiting the Contemporary at Laguna Gloria? I must have been living under a rock. No, no, I was too busy checking out all the great happy hours. The truth is, when I was younger I didn't appreciate the local art that Austin had to offer. ANYway. We came here on a Thursday because they have free admission and soon learned that this place is really special. There are so many awesome, unique and beautiful sculptures and it's all outside. They also have sculptures that are featured for a specific amount of time and move on, and there are sometimes events for these. We attended one of those events and it was really cool to hear from the artist and attend the unveiling. Also, one of my most favorite Austin events has been the Contemporary Valentines Day karaoke party. I really hope this is an annual thing. This is definitely a cool place to check out to enjoy art, enjoy nature and participate in community events. Also, the gift shop is super quirky.

Esperienza fantastica: One of my favorite art museums in Austin. A great way to spend a peaceful afternoon on a beautiful and immersive campus.

Esperienza fantastica: We had our wedding here earlier this year and it was a perfect choice. Fortunately we lucked out with the weather, seeing as how 90% of the space is outdoors, but otherwise the venue itself was beautiful and the team was extraordinarily helpful with the full process. One of the best wedding venues in Austin if you plan around the weather. And we'll keep coming back to Laguna Gloria for the sculpture garden, picnics, and classes.

Esperienza fantastica: The Contemporary - Laguna Gloria is an absolutely stunning venue! I recommend this place for my couples all of the time and I am just enamored with every bit of this place. Everywhere you turn there's a picturesque area, and it all photographs so beautifully. I definitely recommended it for your engagement session or wedding day, you will not be disappointed!

Esperienza fantastica: Beautiful grounds and a great place for a stroll! There are a lot of peacocks in the area which is quite special to see. There is a $10 entrance fee, so it would be difficult to justify regularly visiting, but if you live in Austin I would highly recommend visiting at least once (especially if you are an art aficionado). Parking can be a bit tricky so be prepared to parallel park and walk a bit to get to the grounds.

Roger Ingles 5 months ago

Esperienza fantastica: Hannah was an amazing tour guide. The venue was gorgeous and we had a blast. Must see in Austin

Grant Wiedenfeld 5 months ago

Esperienza negativa: Closed without warning. Planned a whole trip to Austin around this, checked the website in advance, only to find a ‘closed for private event’ sign printed out upon arrival. Awful, inconsiderate management for a professional museum. Don’t waste your time.

Lacie K 5 months ago

Esperienza fantastica: A very interesting and cool place to walk and view artwork. Peacocks are on the grounds. It is wheelchair friendly. Very beautiful!

Esperienza positiva: Not bad, a small decent sculpture park with lake views. Nice to take a stroll and read about the art.

Esperienza fantastica: Laguna Gloria has been improved very much over the years. It was once a beautifully forgotten, afterthought, where you could still see the lovely home, and some of the sculptures that were still available on the property. In the last 10 or so years, it has improved greatly in terms of the sculptures and exhibits, as well as the expressionist art pieces. Please enjoy the video of a 1953 Chevrolet playing music by Texas musicians and spoken word poetry. By the way veterans get in free.

Esperienza fantastica: Great outdoor sculpture garden with walking trails.

Esperienza fantastica: Really cool outdoor museum. Is free on Thursdays! It’s small enough to where it only takes about 30 minutes to one hour to walk around. It’s a really easy path and fun way to be outdoors! Would definitely recommend for a date night or if you have friends in town and want to walk outside. Great way to meet people!! Everyone was so friendly. Will definitely go again.

Esperienza fantastica: Had a wonderful day at the contemporary Austin – Laguna Gloria. I took my family on a Thursday in January, the weather was nice and warm. I brought them on this day because every Thursday is free entry to the contemporary Austin Museum,. we walked around on the grounds of the museum, got a very nice view of the lake. All the sculptures around the area were very beautiful, everything was so serene and relaxing. Great experience, you sort of go on a little hike while looking around which was great. Good exercise, family interactive, wheelchair friendly.

Esperienza fantastica: In the stillness of quiet places, our mind drifts to memories, both cherished and regretted. These moments of introspection remind us of life's impermanence and the dance of joy and sorrow. Such places aren't merely physical spots but portals to our inner world, where time and memory meld, evoking a deep, transformative melancholy.

Esperienza fantastica: I found as I was moving from Austin but so happy I finally found it eventually!! It’s an amazing walk with pieces of art everywhere and along the water and is a perfect scenic Waterview walk for families and friends to enjoy together!! Definitely a must see and parking is ample on the street in!! Austin texas!!

Esperienza fantastica: Honestly, I liked this place better than Mount Bonnell. There aren't many people at the moment, so it's really nice to walk along the windy lakeside and look at the sparkling waves and statues.

Heather Cowan 1 year ago

Esperienza fantastica: Came here for a memorial and what a beautiful space. It was the perfect setting for a gathering and the amphitheater that over looks the lake was stunning and the perfect backdrop. The crew was wonderful. Awesome vallet options and nice to have a beautiful natural outside space to gather at.

Esperienza fantastica: A west Austin jewel, the Contemporary at Laguna Gloria is like stepping into the low country. Situated on Lake Austin across from Westwood Country Club, this was the Mediterranean inspired estate home of Clara Driscoll known as Laguna Gloria. There are 14 acres of crushed granite and wood chip paths that meander through the grounds shaded by moss draped heritage oaks. Art pieces are scattered throughout delighting at every turn. We love it so much that we joined as members but the cost is minimal to visit and tickets can be purchased online or onsite at the gift shop for $10 for adults and $5 for seniors and children. Such a treat to visit this beautifully presented artwork and estate home very much a part of Austin’s history.

Esperienza fantastica: Amazing place to go with family. This was our first time here and the wonderful staff made us feel so welcome especially the lady with the curly hair at the front desk she's was so kind. My granddaughter did not want to leave, she made sure she visited every place on the map we were given. I highly recommend taking your family here!

Esperienza fantastica: Best 14 acre contemporary art hunt for kids hands down. My three literally ran to all 14 exhibits on the grounds … great way to exhaust their energy. They had fun and we all enjoyed the afternoon together.

Esperienza fantastica: Beautiful location for a wedding, elopement, or engagement session. One of the dreamiest and greenest locations in Austin with a hint of mid century modern inside. The photos you get here are *chefs kiss* and the photo pass is super affordable.

Stephen de Man 1 year ago

Esperienza fantastica: An Austin gem. This historical sculpture garden has fantastic works of art and offers a tranquil lake side escape. The second Saturday of the month has a free kids craft activity area in the main house. Parking can get tricky on weekends so if you find a spot while driving up- snag it. The cafe has a great selection and the walking paths interlaced with exhibits are very well maintained. Awesome work by the Contemporary Austin.

Esperienza fantastica: There are a lot of classes available here, and member previews are held here as well for those with a membership to AMOA/Arthosue (they're combined now). The grounds are beautiful, and there are many weddings associated with this place. If you've been to the museums downtown already and are looking for something new- take a short drive out here and get what you're looking for.

Christy Horton 1 year ago

Esperienza fantastica: Beautiful, classic Austin location. Great for weddings, hosts my favorite event, La Dolce Vita, every year in the fall. Art classes are held on the grounds as well.

Joe Morse 1 year ago

Esperienza fantastica: I can't speak to the school here, but the historic building of Laguna Gloria is gorgeous and a real Austin treat. The tour is minimal but I'm really looking forward to one of the festivals that are held there annually (Italian fest and the Dolce Vita fund raiser are two that come to mind).

Katie O'Riley 1 year ago

Esperienza fantastica: This place is such a great place to bring out of town friends. The house and natural surroundings is just amazing. Puts me in a good mood every time. Dogs are welcome to come with outside if they are on a leash. Tuesdays are their free days which is cool, they do accept donations though! The featured art changes through the year as well.

Liza Willmore 1 year ago

Esperienza fantastica: Beautiful grounds for La Dolce vita! It is an annual event where local restaurants and vendors setup booths for you to try their tasty morsels. All the proceeds go back to help out AMOA. Start looking for it during the summer!

Esperienza fantastica: A great spot in Austin to walk around in nature and enjoy modern sculptures. There are great views of the lake/river and there are sculpture installations scattered throughout the property, including along the shoreline. It's interesting to see how the sculptures interact with their surroundings versus just being placed in a "white box" museum. Kids can have some room to run, just no touching most of the pieces. If you have Bank of America I believe you can get in free some weekends, check their website.

J O Y 2 years ago

Esperienza fantastica: My family loved it here. Everyone was nice and welcoming. Beautiful, serene and peaceful place. We saw some unique exhibits. Photographers and painters were around painting the scenic views and taking pictures. Several classes to attend for adults and kids. There was a class for kids in session sculpting clay bowls. We saw the same class later walking with their instructor through the trails learning about different plants, trees, and sculptures. Free for educators. Great for first dates or just to take a stroll enjoying nature. Great for kids

Mason Dowless 2 years ago

Esperienza fantastica: It was a really impressive outdoor sculpture and art gallery. There were so many unique pieces and the nature is gorgeous. It can be a little hot and humid in the summer but as long as you prepare for it then it's manageable. All of the art blended well with their environments. It was a great place to walk around and I'm looking forward to returning!

Esperienza negativa: Such a bummer. My child is going for art camp this week which is great, so we decided to head over during the evening (Thursday) to check out what he's been doing all week. Their website clearly says they are open til 9. We showed up at 7:20 and were turned away by an extremely rude and pretentious woman in glasses named Sydney. She said they have a movie night and that there is no general admission. The movie doesn't even start until 8:45. Nowhere on the website did it say that it will be closed during the movie nights for those visiting for general admission. It's frustrating because it's the only night they are open and we'd been looking forward to it all week. She turned us away with as much attitude as she could muster. After being uppity and rude she offered us passes to come back, which are useless to us because we're members. They force you to buy a membership to do the camp, which is its own frustrating rip off. Basically, website is not informative enough, staff at the gate is incredibly rude. My 6 year old literally asked me later why the 'lady at Laguna Gloria was so rude'.

The Contemporary Austin - Laguna Gloria

Hello Rachel, so sorry to hear about your experience. We are working diligently with our front line and communications team to better inform our visitors about events that occur during our museum hours. We hope you will come back to visit so we can make sure you have a great experience. Feel free to reach out to me directly through our [email protected] for any more feedback.Sincerely,Simone AlexanderVisitor Relations Manager

Adam Merrill 2 years ago

Esperienza negativa: Wish I could say this experience is a memorable one for my family but unfortunately this is not the case. Staff at the facility needs a complete attitude adjustment. I have never felt so belittled and unimportant in my life with how my family was treated. We were refused parking inside of the gate because we were with out photographer. Staff unstructured our photographer that only she needed to wear a mask, anywhere on property! However, with us being the family who paid for the use of the facility it was deemed acceptable for none of our party to wear a mask? I truly hope management can follow up on this. Such a beautiful facility but staff attitudes to drag your experience straight into the ground. Disappointed.

The Contemporary Austin - Laguna Gloria

Hello Adam,So sorry to hear about your less than excellent visit to Laguna Gloria. Would love to know the name of the staff you interacted with so we can rectify the situation. Currently at Laguna Gloria, our policy is that masks are required in all indoor spaces. We also have very limited parking onsite due to our Art School classes and rentals load-ins.We'd love for you and your family to have a better experience with us. Please reach out to [email protected] so we can give you complimentary tickets for your next visit.Sincerely,Simone AlexanderVisitor Relations Manager

Esperienza positiva: My rate is 3,7. Got in today for free with Bank of America - first weekends gratis for card holders. The garden and views on the river/lake are beautiful. The statues not so interesting (but I know contemporary art is not understood by many ). It was hellish hot today in the garden. Better go in another season! They closed at 1 pm due to the place being reserved for a wedding. Sept. 4 2021

Esperienza fantastica: Trying to find something to do in Austin that didn't required driving around an hour looking for parking, led us to this beautiful place. A very friendly lady directed us to the ticket area where another friendly face sold us admittance and gave us a map of the grounds and sculptures. We spent a good hour walking, taking pictures, and enjoying the beautiful day. This would have been a great place to take a picnic, so maybe we will do this the next time we visit Austin.

Esperienza fantastica: Excellent to walk around and enjoy the art and nature. Staff was very nice and helpful. If it's your first time and don't have a reservation; visit the visitor center to the path to the left of the front gate, door on the right, to obtain a ticket.

Esperienza fantastica: Laguna Gloria is my favorite museum in Austin. The scenery and incredible art make it one of the best spots in Austin for special moments. That's why when my wife and I started our wedding planning process in 2019, Laguna seemed like a no-brainer for our intimate outdoor ceremony. Everything about the experience was so magical and perfect! We loved working with Arin Madera (touring the site to signing our contract) and then Shannon Willis (the rehearsal and our day of logistics). The staff is so professional and kind and made our little COVID wedding possible. We truly felt celebrated and taken care of. Highly recommend!

Esperienza fantastica: A great little art walk to visit. It’s definitely a bit out of the way from where you’d typically find sculpture museums but still definitely a place to visit. It is mostly outside so come prepared to walk! Although it does seem like a bit of a scavenger hunt as you can miss some pieces if you don’t pay attention. Would definitely recommend! They are currently doing only reservations so make sure to get your ticket ahead of time.

Esperienza fantastica: A real gem, don’t miss it if you have time in Austin. I went on Friday morning and it was not crowded. Can see it all in an hour but you will want to take your time and maybe go back to see some favorites like I did. Easy walking. I took the bus and had about a mile walk to the gate.
