Fantastische ervaring: Very, very nice museum. It's weird that it is free, because it is a very cool collection of a lot of stuff. Highly recommended. Even the personnel is great. 5/5 stars!

Vincent Karthaus 1 month ago

Fantastische ervaring: cool architectural building, free entry, and I absolutely loved the exhibition with all the trains and cars and immersive exhibits (and other historical interesting things like fashion and such). it was very informative and would be good for smaller kids as well as adults

Andrew Moorhouse 1 month ago

Fantastische ervaring: A fabulous museum and the grandchildren love it, win win!

Martin Jordan 1 month ago

Positieve ervaring: One of Glasgow's best museums and most recognised buildings. However the two don't go hand in hand. The building looks amazing but its space is a weird configuration for a transport museum leading to some odd presentation. That said it's still utterly worth it. And it's free.

Happy Snapper 1 month ago

Positieve ervaring: Like the Riverside (Transport) Museum in parts. Lovely building, nice location, though not as easily accessible for some who can't, or dont drive. It needs a better public transport link - i.e. buses. As its a bit of a walk from Partick Station. Also some antique cars - exhibits are suspended high above those who visit so you can't see them properly or as easily. And it's cafe although okay isn't great and it's prices aren't that good. Id take my own food & drinks if going there. It's run by Glasgow Life which is an [A.LE.O] An Arms Length External Organisation and isn't the best for it. Opening hours in summer should be longer and likewise with the Tall Ship beside it which has sadly started charging entry fees. Preferred the previous Transport Museum though and it was a better location for buses. So, there's still room for improvement.

Fantastische ervaring: This is one of the best museums in Glasgow. Great collection of vintage cars, bikes and almost all of the historic vehicles. Very beautiful, engaging, informative experience. This museum also has, Great staff Wheelchair accessible Paid parking Free entry

Michel Condoroussis 1 month ago

Positieve ervaring: The museum is free, so there's not really much of a downside to going, however, we really didn't enjoy it. There are a lot of vehicles and modes of transport and some other random rooms and history, but it was not that interesting. The kid kind of liked it, as you can go into many rooms and climb into different vehicles or transportation vehicles and there are quite a few screens to interact with (which we don't really like), but overall it just wasn't very exciting. There is no cost of entry (of course you should always leave a donation), so feel free to stop by if you have a way to get there, you would need to take the city bus or use one of the sightseeing buses.

Fantastische ervaring: A great museum, the transport museum is my favourite museum. We especially love the fake street with the old shops and subway. Love seeing how things have changed over the years. There's an upstairs, plenty of things to keep kids amused, including dressing up in the photo shop. The tall ship is great also, it's just outside but you need to pay to go on now. A family ticket was £12.70 so it's not too expensive. Loads of indoor and outdoor places for picnics and there are cafes inside.

Ella McKenzie 1 month ago

Fantastische ervaring: Free to enter :) very cute museum of public transport. Lots of cool exhibits you could go inside, I really liked the trains. There is a water refill point outside

Fantastische ervaring: Trains, planes and automobiles! And boats, lots of boats! Our gang of 7 to 77 year olds all enjoyed this free museum on the river Clyde. Pay for parking, though.

Positieve ervaring: Great place for the family to explore! There is even a low level toilet and low level sinks for the younger children to use. Free entry, but a donation box available.

Positieve ervaring: I quite enjoyed Riverside Museum because there was lots of stuff there about the olden days and I liked the four player game as well and the CR5 game was nice too I also liked the motorcycles there too. Some bits were a bit boring but other than that I think it was actually pretty fun and good.

Positieve ervaring: A nice place to see lots of history and some things I can remember seeing and doing,I would recommend talking a packed lunch as food is a bit expensive,a free bus runs from the town to the Museum (100) all in all a good day

Frankie Cockayne 1 month ago

Positieve ervaring: Interesting museum. It's fun that you can go into a lot of the transport displays. We didn't need long but I was with an 11 and 9year old. I think with younger ones you could spend longer there

Mia Gomb 1 month ago

Fantastische ervaring: Absolutely loved everything of it! The history behind these artifacts, especially the new addition to the museum, Car 128 from the Glasgow Underground! I've been really looking forward to it before and during my visit, and spent my hours researching the Glasgow Underground. Overall, it's been fantastic to spend my time looking at the glamorous artifacts of the past. Especially from the Victorian Era! (It's one of my special interests!)

Fantastische ervaring: I recently visited the Riverside Museum in Glasgow, and it was an extraordinary experience that exceeded all my expectations! Located on the banks of the River Clyde, the museum showcases the history of transportation in a fascinating and engaging way that captivates visitors of all ages. ✈️ The first thing that grabs your attention is the building itself, designed by the renowned architect Zaha Hadid. The innovative design and striking architecture set the tone for the adventure inside. Upon entering, you're greeted with an impressive collection of over 3,000 objects that tell the story of transportation through the ages. From vintage cars to locomotives, bicycles to skateboards, and even prams, the diversity of exhibits is astounding. One of the highlights is the magnificent Tall Ship, Glenlee, docked right outside the museum. This historic ship offers a hands-on experience, allowing visitors to explore its decks and learn about maritime history. ️ The interactive displays inside the museum are equally engaging, offering a fun and educational experience. You can climb aboard old trams and buses, and even walk through recreated street scenes that transport you back in time. ️ The museum does an excellent job of making history come alive, not just through static displays but through interactive elements and multimedia presentations. There's a sense of adventure and discovery as you move from one exhibit to the next. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable, always ready to share interesting facts and stories about the exhibits. In addition to the main displays, Riverside Museum hosts various events and workshops throughout the year, making each visit unique and exciting. The museum is also very family-friendly, with plenty of activities to keep children entertained and educated. ‍‍‍ Overall, the Riverside Museum is a must-visit destination for anyone interested in the history of transportation and industrial heritage. It's a place where history, innovation, and education come together in a beautiful and inspiring setting. ✨ Whether you're a local or a tourist, the Riverside Museum promises an enriching experience that you won't forget. Highly recommended!

Fantastische ervaring: Brilliant museum! Engaging for all the family. Entry free (donation requested), neighbouring carpark costs around GBP2.50/hr. Expect to spend a couple of hours here. Cafe onsite serving lunch from midday.

Sharon cullen 1 month ago

Fantastische ervaring: Lots to see and interact with keeping kids of any age entertained. The fire engines from different eras were there when we went but aren't always there. The tall ship, Glenlee is next to the museum which kids have fun exploring. There's plenty of seating to bring a packed minch or two cafes to buy food.

Fantastische ervaring: Lots of exhibitions of vehicles and related to them. Amazing that we can see them for free I really liked this spot. If you want to take your time looking around, it's best to allow just over an hour.

Fantastische ervaring: Building looks very futuristic. Located near the Clyde river, it showcases some exotic automobile and different modes of transportation. They also display the old locomotives used in Scotland. The museum was designed by the renowned architect Zaha Hadid. Entry to the museum is absolutely free. Recommend visiting this place while in Glasgow. They also have a restaurant and souvenir shop.

Fantastische ervaring: Glasgow's Transport Museum, with almost every type of vehicle you can think of included. Trains, cars, bikes & loads of model boats. It even has a recreated glasgow street scene, with cobbled road, old style street lamps & traditional style shops that you can enter and get a sense of how Glasgow used to be. I love this museum. You can also get access to the Tall Ship from here; also free to enter, like all Glasgow Museums.

Fantastische ervaring: This place is awesome. I loved checking out the Glenlee. What an awesome ship! The soup at the cafe was delicious as well. There is a lot of interesting history here and so many old cars.

Fantastische ervaring: Excellent place to visit. Full of memories of old "glesga" A wonderful walk down memory lane, literally. An amazing old street with old shops and an old subway station. Wonderful place and absolutely free of charge. The tall ship out the back is also free and it's also a fantastic historical experience.

Fantastische ervaring: Lovely museum and well worth the walk out from the city along the river. So good I'd definitely go back. Great insight into the history of transport in Glasgow as well as the ship building. Amazed at the number of different types of ship that have been built on the Clyde

Helen Swanton 2 months ago

Positieve ervaring: Great place and amazing exhibitions but for me, far too many streaking and screaming kids running around that ruins it sadly...... It's like a children's nursery with an exhibition around it. Perfect if you're OK with that though. Maybe there should be adult only days

Barry Hamilton 2 months ago

Negatieve ervaring: Much preferred the old transport museum to this ,as I don't like the way they've placed everything all mixed up together. The older place was much more better and had its differnt areas. This is what you get when you have foreign people design buildings. This is in Scotland and should have had a Scottish architect design it and its lay out.

Positieve ervaring: Interesting museum for all ages. All sorts of transport here, cars, bikes, vans......including a travelling showmans home and a familiar waltzer from the fairground. Also, an authentic street and shop fronts from a bygone time. Very enjoyable few hours. Finished the day with a tea and scone in the cafe.

Positieve ervaring: This review is for the CAFE ONLY. Don't expect fine cuisine, and you won't be disappointed. The food was OK - it's the convenience of already being in the museum that causes you to eat here. I had the mac and cheese, which was good, and DW had a 'ham' butty, which she rated 3/5. Canned fizzy drinks were somewhat cool, and ice was grudgingly provided. Visited 24 June.

Fantastische ervaring: Again, thanks to free entry we get to see our historical past brought to life. The Riverside Museum is excellent. The staff are attentive and friendly and very knowledgeable about their exhibits. The tall ship outside is well worth a visit. It opens your eyes to see what early Transport was like at the beginning of the 20th century..

Fantastische ervaring: Having recently visited the National Railway Museum in York, I can honestly say that the Riverside Museum needs to teach the Science Museum group a thing or too. The Riverside Museum far excelled in my expectations, fantastic exhibits, my children, my wife and I came away educated having had great fun. The staff were amazing and the food at the on site restaurant was fit for a Micheline Star. I thoroughly recommend you visiting this amazing place... and it's free to enter! Fantastische ervaring: Very good museum. I was hoping for the history of shipbuilding on the Clyde but the museum is much more diverse than that. And that's because Glasgow has produced or built a lot, lot more than just ships!! So it was certainly an education for me. And I so enjoy places that do that...

Positieve ervaring: This was a pleasant surprise as we went to see the tall ship behind it, however due to construction work we had to divert through the museum to get to the ship. There is an impressive collection of transport vehicles from modern history and all in excellent condition. Not the sort of place you can touch, sit in or climb into the vehicles but great for those interested in seeing them. Best of all....it's free.

Positieve ervaring: A must-see on your visit to Glasgow is the Transport Museum. But it's much more than just a museum! It's a journey through time. Note for visitors from Spain: You can also explore the Galatea (or Glenlee), a sail training ship for the Spanish Navy from 1922 to the 1990s.
