Experiência fantástica: Cute little museum about the history of the Swedish American community!
Experiência fantástica: Very friendly love the store, their new Cafe has some good food.
Experiência fantástica: Väldigt trevligt och intressant museum! Trevlig personal. Svårt att föreställa sig allt som svenskarna för århundraden sedan fick gå igenom. Samtidigt fascinerande hur de kämpade och hur många som hamnade i Chicago. Kul att det svenska arvet lever vidare i Andersonville!
Experiência fantástica: Tilde is awesome and thanks for your help!! She deserves a raise!!
Experiência fantástica: Great place for Swedish Shopping. Wonderful staff.
Experiência fantástica: We always love to visit this museum when we study Swedish immigration at school. They are so friendly and easy to work with to plan field trips. The children's museum area is always a hit!
Experiência negativa: I had been there before and it was great. This time I brought my friend and the main exhibition was closed due to construction but they still charged us full price without warning us about it. It was a real disappointment, there was a narrow hallway and two small rooms with a little information on the walls.
Experiência fantástica: We loved it
Experiência fantástica: Privileged to experience other cultures. Much the same. Upgraded.

Experiência fantástica: I grew up going here and live it! My grandparents are from Sweden. Everyone there is super friendly.
Experiência fantástica: A great walk through of Swedish immigration to the US. Add to that the lifelike sculptures they had. I paid a $2 voluntary donation and spent the next 90 minutes absolutely amazed. Totally worth it!
Experiência fantástica: I love the museum and all the wonderful people working and volunteering there. Great children's play area, amazing pop up cafe baked goods and food, and just the nicest staff. Highly recommend!
Experiência fantástica: Very simple museum, but interesting notes and artifacts about Chicago's Swedish history. Highlight of the space is definitely the third floor with the Children's museum.
Experiência fantástica: A fantastic museum! I can't wait for the other exhibits to be done. The front door receptionist is a fascinating person to talk to as well as the woman that runs a gift shop. My Swedish heritage thoroughly enjoyed this experience and I highly recommend it!
Experiência fantástica: The gift shop has a little bit of everything including snacks! The displays are so thought out. The children’s room is so fun and interactive. I went on a Wednesday and I was the only one in the entire museum but as I was leaving, it looked like someone was coming in. Cash is preferred. This museum is a hidden gem in the neighborhood of Andersonville so please go visit. Once done, go explore the neighborhood.
Experiência fantástica: Fantastic museum, even though the main exhibit is being remodelled. The guides and staff were friendly. There's a good selection of art and interesting artifacts, such as the model ship in the window. The children's museum on the top floor seems very fun.

Experiência fantástica: Great Museum! I'm glad I went. The exhibits were done well and were interesting, I loved seeing the Christmas folk art! Great Location on Clark in quaint little Andersonville. Parking of course was a little challenging and surrounding sidewalks were slippery, but at $4 per adult it's a fun way to spend a afternoon A must see for all Swedes!
Experiência fantástica: THere is an excellent childrens museum on t he top floor. My daughter likes that you can dress up and pretend that you are coming across on a ship. There are several different things to see and do. I recommend this museum for everyone with small children.

Experiência positiva: Came here first for a kids birthday party, but have been a few times since. Good activities for the kids and the play area is good to run around.
Experiência negativa: Got turned away for not having a vaccine card. “Only this weekend” it was happening. But yet the tour guide was maskless. Makes a lot of sense. Wanted to come here For months due to my SO being a Swede.
Experiência negativa: This used to be a good place to take your kids. Now it's a joke. Kids area closed and they have a new exhibit with a play kitchen kids can "look at". Have you never interacted with a child before?

Experiência fantástica: Great staff (Karen is the most dedicated and hard working currator you'll ever meet) with dedicated volunteers who are so helpful. The museum offers great neighborhood events, Swedish language classes and really help define the attitude of Andersonville. A must visit for anyone exploring this awesome neighborhood.
Experiência fantástica: This place is such a gem for families with small children. The play area reminds me slightly of WonderWorks over on North Avenue, but it's so much closer to our house and just the right size for a long lazy afternoon. It's always so delightful to see children engaged in imaginative play, a great place for parents to chill out while we smirk watching our children plant, farm, and tend to the homestead.
Experiência fantástica: Great family museum with welcoming faces and very friendly people. The market has unique artistic swedish things, ive lived in Sweden so i recognize authentic.
Experiência fantástica: Grat place to visit for all things Sweden. Check out the gift shop. Superior neighbor to andersonville allowing townhalls, voting and a host of things to go on in their main hall. They keep Andersonville honest to its Swedish heritage

Experiência fantástica: We were greeted by an super friendly and helpful lady at the front desk. The exhibits and their descriptions were very well built and maintained. It amazes me how well the space was used to convey a story that dates back a 100 years or so. Thank you for the hospitality!!
Experiência fantástica: Very fun and interesting for kids
Experiência fantástica: I stopped in during the Midsommarfest to check it out. It's a small museum with gift shop, but the information feels relevant and personal. If your family is a swedish origin, and living in the United States, it is an interesting stop.
Experiência fantástica: Had a wonderful time here touring the museum and having breakfast with Tomten. The upstairs kids' area is fun!
Thank you for visiting!

Experiência positiva: Ett bra museum med mycket information/historia om den svenska integrationen till Amerika
Experiência fantástica: Musée très intéressant avec un grande place de jeux pour les enfants

Experiência fantástica: Loved it. Anyone who has a chance to go and visit this place the entrance for adults is only $4. There are usually exhibitions of Swedish artists as well, entrance is included in the price.
Experiência positiva: A small but very interesting museum about swedish immigration. It would be nice if they had regular guided tours. However, they offer some activities, including teaching swedish language.
Experiência fantástica: Surprisingly extensive permanent exhibits. The bottom gallery rotates exhibits and bring in some very impressive artists and pieces. Was great to read all about the famous American brands that were started by Swedes! Kids museum and play area is fantastic, lots too keep the little ones entertained.
Experiência fantástica: The museum is a great reminder of what it was like at the beginning of Chicago's history. Contributions by Swedish immigrants to the making of the midwest region are many. This is a beautiful small museum that is well organized and nicely staffed. I will visit again.
Experiência fantástica: Located in a busy Andersonville neighborhood, this small museum is surrounded by small retail shops, eateries, and bars! I've always passed this establishment up partly due to all the meter parking vs free parking in the area. I was told this museum has its own lot and have to register the car in the front desk. Well if it's free, it's for me I always say! Upon entry, the museum store is to the left and pay admission fee. We passed up in buying trinkets, makes sure you check out the Christmas clearance rack, dalas, peppi longstockings, and chocolates! The 2rd floor is the exhibits section. I love the replica Viking ships, and the life like mannequins. Too dark and creepy for my 4 year old, she believes these were real! I also love the religious section that has the wedding crowns. The 3rd floor is a interactive part of museum, better known as Brink Children's Museum of Immigration, where we spent the most time. My daughter opted out wearing the old fashioned Swedish costume for her pretend play. The props I found cute were water pump, washboard, cream separator, fishing poles with magnetic fishes, gardens, and Dala horse! The 3rd floor is divided into 5 sections: 1.) Swedish farm 2.) Ticket booth to a steamship 3.) Viking ship 4.) Inside a Apollo 11 space mission. Wait, what?!?! I thought the space mission section was pretty random until I found out that the 2nd person to set foot on the moon (Buzz Aldrin) is the grandchild of Swedish-American immigrants. I applaud if you read this far of my review: Other random facts about Buzz Aldrin: he was the first to urinate on the moon and the first to perform communion on the moon-at least according to the Swedish American Museum brochure.
Experiência fantástica: Excellent place to bring the kids to learn about sweedish culture and have fun. They can sail on the boat, farm in the fields or visit the moon. Everything swedish and everything fun. Plus they've got a parking lot.
Experiência fantástica: A cute museum with interesting history and culture. Spent a short time in this museum exploring the immigration history of the Swedes moving to America. This history is detailed on the wall and displayed with a wooden boat to represent their voyage to America and the farms and houses they built while they settled down. Besides tracing a history of how they immigrated here, the ship, the houses, the farm wagons and etc on display are available for the children to explore and play on. I especially love how this museum is rich with history of years gone past, and it recaptures how lives used to be. This is a great place to bring your children here to have hands on fun and also educational at the same time, while also exploring a migrant's history and culture!
Experiência fantástica: Was able to go for free through the Smithsonian Museum Day promotion. The museum was a beautiful, informative installation regarding the Swedish immigrants experience in America and Chicago.
Experiência fantástica: I've walked by the museum so many times and I want bother to go inside. However, exhibits are both factual and fun. I'd completely recommend visiting
Experiência fantástica: The Children's Museum of immigration on the third floor is an amazing Play Place Hands On Learning Experience.
Experiência fantástica: This is a great facility. I was there for a book reading, which took place in the main gallery. The current exhibit includes some terrific large paintings, art that I look forward to revisiting. The museum offers some lively activities, targeted to both kids and adults. While many have a Swedish theme, others have a broader focus. I'm looking forward to becoming more actively engaged in the museum - and to seeing more of what is offered.
