Experiência fantástica: Such an amazing place to learn about Ohio’s history. My family spent two and a half hours there and could have probably spent more. Looking forward to visiting again.

Experiência positiva: Lot's to see. Plan a full day to visit if you have the time. Make sure you pick up a map and schedule so you visit the activities that you would enjoy the most. The auditorium has the best air-conditioning so stop there to recover from the heat after visiting Ohio Village .

Experiência fantástica: It was a great experience here with families, exploring a lot of historical items and memorable pieces and artifacts. Even though I am not a US resident, I can feel what I went through during those decades in the 1900s. It is a great museum, and I will definitely recommend that people visit it at least once.

Experiência fantástica: We were there for the annual meeting. It was very informative. It was impressive to hear the guest speakers, accomplishments over the past year and plans for the future. The reception afterwards was amazing. Great food and a DJ.

Experiência positiva: My family enjoyed the planned activities themed around the holiday. We were considering signing up for a membership/becoming regular benefactors (our foundation gives to numerous causes and cultural/arts organizations every year) to the center but after how my daughter was treated by one of the volunteers we are rethinking this. While looking through the study club my daughter picked up a book laying on the table and a volunteer very curtly told her to put it down immediately. This isn’t some old artifact from 150 years ago it is a more recent print of a book. Find more employable people with better interpersonal skills.

Experiência negativa: It's incredibly unethical for this organization to be attempting to take control of a historical site that's been leased to the golf course since 1911. The investments the golf course put into the property will be lost because they are only offering them a fraction of what it's worth. This is almost criminal what they are doing.

Experiência negativa: I was disappointed nothing like it used to be. Almost nothing on the Hopewell including no artifacts. A bunch of school groups running and screaming throughout the museum. Why are the other indigenous people of ohio not represented?

Experiência negativa: Been to more interesting antique malls, which is what the exhibits appear to be. It looks like no money has been invested in this museum in decades. Ohio should have a museum dedicated to its State history, but this one should be rebuilt elsewhere with reimagined exhibits.

Experiência positiva: A nice museum that we found to be surprisingly informative and interesting all about Ohio. As you travel from room to room it is fun to learn what each has to offer. There is even a replica home of life in the 50s which was fun to explore. I thought it was worth the stop and would come again.

Experiência fantástica: I am dumbfounded and quite literally terrified . I am being brutally forced to engage in a painting competition with several earthworms by a ruthless army of oak trees. It's now day 6 and there is no end in sight, they will only feed me canned water and dry pasta.

Experiência fantástica: Only went for my graduation ceremony, but I was able to look around while waiting to walk out and visit with others. It's interesting to look around and see items from over the years in Ohio. Great photo opportunities and learning experience for all ages. I will definitely go back!

Experiência positiva: It's okay. The best time to come is when they have free tickets. If you search the website you can find the days that they have it. It's really stripped down from where it used to be. There is other Ohio museums that are a lot better. However, they do have some things here during Christmas time only. You can go into the Ohio village and see more but it is kind of stripped down and if you had to pay you might be a little upset

Experiência positiva: OHC has living history that is real, yeah sure you been here a hundred times if you live in Ohio but every time, I come here I found something new. We went there in 2019 and they had a few real Ohio Rattlesnakes and Hybrid Wolves they were showing people, it was really cool to be a part of that. They have real Baseball and Softball Teams that play games and have tournaments, they have a Halloween Show that will knock your socks off. They also have a Charles Dickens December Holiday. This is wonderful place for children who want to learn and expand their knowledge. OHC has records for all your history newspapers, and Ohio records for family genealogy.

Experiência negativa: They lost a lot of the native american (adena and hopewell exhibit, it’s just a few unidentifiable rocks and 1 arrowhead. They had a few good fossils but not many. If you are i to sports and badly taxidermied animals it’s good otherwise aave your money.

Experiência fantástica: Never a disappointment. We weren't expecting the Ohio Village to be open, but it was - and set in post-war 1940's. The actors stay in character and it's just mind-blowing to see the effort everyone puts in to recreate history. My 14 year-old daughter absolutely loved it, so we're going back for the Dickens of a Christmas event!

My favourite part was the area with the local flora and fauna, although there is a lot more to learn! But there were many other interesting information to read (there is a lot to read). The stuff working there were all kind!

Experiência positiva: The best thing about it is, that it's connected with other Ohio history sites in which you must go for the actual history of Ohio. It was honestly disappointing, I wasn't sure if the center itself wanted to tell the history of this great state or promote current civil issues. I've been to some of the smallest Ohio history connection sites that have way better museums/displays if they had any at all. So not all of Ohio history is lost.

Experiência positiva: So it is nice and clean and appears to be well kept. So many of the things and the people in Ohio's history that I expected to see here, weren't here. It's become more modern with one whole gallery dedicated to athletes,.car racing, etc...The lady staff that was working the front desk was nice. The man was not personable but wasn't rude either. We passed a couple staff members throughout the museum and they didn't speak at all. We didn't ask them anything, but we did find it unusual that they did not greet us. We went upstairs for nothing. There was a very small area with a couple items in it, and then the rest of it was just little tiny cafe and empty space. It would be nice to see them fill up some of that space with additional exhibits. I will say that we noticed a few things throughout the museum that were not stated correctly. We actually thought maybe there was gonna be a quiz at the end to see if anybody paid attention as they went along...lol. For example: When you first walk in there is a giant mastadon skeleton. There is a notation on the sign about it that no fossils or bones of dinosaurs have ever been found in Ohio. Once you get farther back in the museum, there is a section that has different items in it, for instance:a violin, an old Hoover vacuum, and a giant mastodon bone. When you flip through the book to learn about the bone.... It states it was found in Champagne County Ohio. Yet, we just read a sign when we came in that said there were no bones of dinosaurs ever found in Ohio. There were two other instances of this as well that were "backwards". It is a nice museum for a reasonable rate. Just not nearly enough exhibits for a true history museum.

Experiência positiva: Enjoyable visit to the Ohio History Center. Favourite part was the 1950s Building the American Dream. The home was pretty interesting. The whole center was nice.

Experiência positiva: Several, but not all exhibits, perpetuate the myth of Native American extinction. Most exhibits are simple and not very provacative. They could probably make adjustments to course correct though. Cool collection of artifacts. I'd love for the Hopewell exhibit to be as large as the "modern" American home exhibit. Feels like at this museum Ohio didn't exist until an immigrant purchased it.

Experiência negativa: So I'm a native Ohioan and a definite history buff. We're failing with our flagstaff musuem. Nothing dedicated to the seven presidents from Ohio? The Wright Brothers? The generals, Sherman, Grant, Custer? There is no biographical hall of greats. The inventions and industry of ohio isn't represented at all. I was floored with the poor setup of everything. This state is amazing and we do so much so well, and we're failing with our musuem. There are good museums in Ohio, so don't leave before you try them, COSI, USAF Musuem, among others.

Experiência positiva: Can get free admission for up to 8 people with a culture pass from Columbus metro library. Sports memorabilia and state history. Didn’t get to visit Ohio Village-it was closed for a coffee festival.

Experiência fantástica: I took the Grandkids for spring break. I had no idea how much was here and how fun it would be for the kids! They had so much fun and I enjoyed it too. They have lots of taxidermy items of animals and birds and more. Somehow those pics got deleted from my phone. Both the kids agreed that their favorite part was the Lustron steel house from the 1950's. I will go back with my husband as I am sure he will like it too. The outside village wasn't open yet. I knew that, but wanted to take the kids while they were off. It opens April 1st.

Experiência fantástica: Came on a Thursday afternoon. Not too busy and after the school children had gone for the day. Great time. Very glad that the Village was open. I was able to speak with people that may have been too busy if there had been large crowds. A good afternoon.

Experiência fantástica: When I was in addiction treatment We were brought here on a field trip . Yes grown adults on a field trip. lol. I do not remember really anything from that trip but one exhibit stuck out to me. To this day all these many years later it has forever changed my view of what I was taught was normal. It was advertising and such back in I thing the 1920s and 30s . It showed people of color in well all I can say it shook me to my core that people were treated this way. I know its told everywhere and we learn it in school but for some reason it stuck out that day. For that thing alone I give 5 stars easy. And I am forever grateful for that one day in an entire life to make such a difference in my life. Thank you.

Experiência fantástica: Friendly staff, cool and informative exhibits, and there's always some kind of event happening - be it virtual or in-person! It is a must-visit museum for all Ohians and anyone else that enjoys all kinds of history.

Experiência negativa: I was just told that the reason this place doesn't exhibit their mummy is because, "as an organization we have chosen to not exhibit human remains any longer. " I was then told that the mummy was taken to a warehouse. First of all, this is history. You are the history connection. Second, if you are taking some unknown moral high ground, why not return her (the mummy is a young female) to her native soil for a proper burial. Maybe just give her a burial here, in a cemetery of choice. Or are we waiting for the highest buyer to come along? Maybe even the moral compass (don't patronize me) to shift? You have gotten rid of your best piece of art and history at once and have relegated it to a dusty, old warehouse. Where is the "moral standard" in that?

Experiência positiva: We went for the All Hallows Eve, wish more of the stories were outside of the houses to allow for more people to hear the stories, like The Legend of Sleepy Hollow. The long lines were ridiculous, by the time you got into the house, you would hear half of a story. Thankful My kids will have the memories of seeing the Headless horseman riding across the bridge. Glad we can say we went but will not go back. Happy Halloween!

Experiência positiva: My wife and I went on earth day so we didn't have to pay for the visit. I was very disappointed that the library and archives were closed and only available upon appointment during the week. That was my sole purpose for stopping in. I was looking to find information on my wife's family member that served in the Civil War. But it's still a pretty nice place to visit.

Experiência fantástica: The Farmers market set up is great! This building houses some of Ohio's most important historical documents and items. They do a very nice job with the exhibits and it is friendly to all ages. Come check out the Mastodon and the two-headed calf! Did you know that most of the building is under one of the state's largest green roofs?

Experiência positiva: I have been going here since I was like 5 years old, I love this place. But recently had a huge disappointment with their event coordinator, I was looking forward to having my wedding ceremony here but after calling 3-4 times and emailing twice with no response back, sadly I had to go with a different venue for my ceremony very disappointed since it had been my dream location. Hopefully they can fix this issue no other couples dont miss out on this venue. Otherwise this place has always been great the Christmas event is by far my favorite event they do every year and I have continued to go back for it as I will this year too.

Experiência positiva: I am here for the Kwanzaa celebration. My daughter fell in love with the space. All of the artifacts and pieces of history. Will have to come back with my young people so I can discuss with them the history from our people's angle.

Experiência fantástica: Visited the center with family on a Sunday, arrived at 11am. Took us about 2 1/2 hrs to walk around and see all the exhibits. Not crowded at all, we were able to stop and talk, not feel rushed or feel like we were in the way of other visitors. Great rainy day museum (if visiting indoor museum only). We will definitely go back to revisit when the the sun is around so we can walk through the outdoor ‘old timey’ village. They have offered several special events like All Hallows Eve, Dickens of a Christmas, Night at the Museum, and Crime and Corruption.
