Experiência fantástica: Loved it, would highly recommend
Experiência positiva: A very informative museum especially the special exhibit they have showcased. It details death through culture, religion and on a humane journey through this natural process. The museum is perfect for a family day out with fun interactive pieces, a great cafe with decent prices and lots of accessible areas in the museum.
Experiência fantástica: It was interesting to learn that the museum has quite a few artefacts. Also enjoyed enriching my knowledge on Leeds history.
Experiência fantástica: Now then, now then! Gather 'round, ladies and gents, and let me take you on a journey through the splendid halls of the Leeds City Museum. A true gem nestled in the heart of Leeds, this grand establishment is a beacon of knowledge and wonder, fit for all ages!
Experiência fantástica: If you're in the centre of Leeds and need to entertain kids for an hour or two, this is a great place. Great for younglings, but a nice nostalgia trip for older kids. Great local history information.
Experiência fantástica: Lovely place to explore with or without the kids. Nice café, although the menu could do with being displayed better.
Experiência fantástica: Museum. Nice Bugs. Nice I like. Come back soon. Xx
Experiência positiva: It's got some cool popups very much enjoyable
Experiência fantástica: Don't need tickets to get through door's it was free entry!enjoyed my time there.
Experiência fantástica: We attended a Candlelight performance of Vivaldi's Four Seasons and it was fabulous. Highly recommend.
Experiência fantástica: A brilliant museum with loads of exhibits to explore. I'd definitely love to go back soon
Experiência fantástica: Free museum to visit Lots to see and read. Very interesting.
Experiência positiva: Nice museum good artifacts in there
Experiência fantástica: Super nice vibe, excellent concert
Experiência fantástica: My toddler loves the museum especially the bottom floor with all the animals. We went to the tiny tigers craft which he is starting to take part in. Love that it's free and always something going on. Also love visiting the toddler town.
Experiência fantástica: I visited here in April 2024. This is a free museum with an eclectic mix of things to see about the area, its history, and its people.
Experiência fantástica: I loved everything I saw.. Would go there again...
Experiência fantástica: Great museum plenty to see and learn about, it was a shame I couldn't spend more time.
Experiência fantástica: Such a brilliant place to take your kids to explore.
Experiência fantástica: Beautiful place.
Experiência fantástica: Lots to see for free. The mummy is an excellent exhibit. Also, loved the temporary exhibit around death. Very moving.
Experiência fantástica: We went leeds city museum with 2 kids. Both had a great time. Informative and enjoyable
Experiência positiva: It’s pretty good, especially for a free museum as most are. Although I think some of the displays could be a bit more cohesive. :)
Experiência fantástica: Exciting place to go to get an understanding of Leeds history
Experiência fantástica: It was a very captivating concert with close feelings for me & my pet bird x
Experiência fantástica: Great place to visit and have a look around. Lots of floors showing so much history! Cafe and toilets, helpful staff. Lifts and stairs, if your run out of time exploring, pop back another day. Check online for the special exhibitions
Experiência positiva: I’ve lived in Leeds for years and rather embarrassingly I’ve not really visited much in terms of museums and galleries, so I thought it would be best to start changing that. Overall it’s a good museum, I think potentially it could be laid out a little better as sometimes we were confused by the order of some things, and I’d have loved to have seen more detailed exhibits on certain things like vikings and romans. Other than that it’s great and I’d recommend going. The highlight for me is the mummy - I realised when I was stood looking at it that I’d never seen one in person before. Surprised that the first time I did was in Leeds! I definitely recommend coming here and spending a couple of hours having a browse - it’s free of course so it’s a great time killer!
Experiência fantástica: Absolutely loved my first event at candlelight concert.
Experiência fantástica: Real Egyptian mummy was first experience in my life. Must visit place in leeds.
Experiência fantástica: I loved Leeds Museum because it was filled with cultural exhibitions and souvenirs at the gift shop!
Experiência fantástica: Nice museum with yorkshire history, is free and has some expositions to see.
Experiência fantástica: Had an assignment for college, was recommended to go, perfect. Staff are very helpful and friendly would definitely recommend
Experiência fantástica: Lovely experience. My son, 7 years old, enjoyed it.
Experiência fantástica: Brilliant Show and fantastic young sax players so good they got a standing aviation
Experiência fantástica: Nice public & free museum, very nice for children (and grownups too!)
Experiência fantástica: During half term the museum was still relatively calm, which is helpful for myself as an adult with sensory issues and anxiety.
Experiência fantástica: Interesting museum. Lots of variety. Pity it closes quite so early. Will go back again soon
Experiência fantástica: Very friendly staff loved the sensory room in school hols for my son brilliant displays free aswell
Experiência fantástica: Attended the candlelight saxophone tribute to Queen. Brilliant atmosphere, excellent performance, all round a great experience.
Experiência positiva: I am disabled and was treated really well by all staff at both the museum and Fever. The music was really good, from SciFi Fi and films, especially as it was Star Wars day. I felt the premium tickets were a bit pricey as the concert was for 75 mins with an interval of 10 to15 mins. I would also have liked to see more candles on different levels.
Experiência fantástica: A very interesting museum and entry is free. I found it very interesting to discover the history of Leeds from the Stone Age to today. In the basement, there is a nice coffee shop and a lounge. I bought a few nice postcards in the shop.
Experiência fantástica: Our trip to Leeds City Museum was a hit! Exploring with a friend and three energetic kids aged 4 to 6, we were captivated by the fascinating animal exhibition downstairs. It was educational yet engaging, keeping both the kids and us thoroughly entertained. The other highlight was the fantastic play area on the top floor. Complete with dens and interactive toys, it was a haven for imaginative play and exploration. Highly recommended for families seeking a perfect blend of learning and fun!
Experiência fantástica: Took the kids here through their school holidays. They had a fantastic time and really enjoyed seeing all the artefacts on display. Our favourite section was ancient Egypt on the top floor where they keep the mummy and its sarcophagus. It was extremely interesting to see everything there and we managed to kill a good couple of hours taking in all the information there. The best part is all this is absolutely free!
Experiência positiva: A free to visit museum in the city centre of Leeds. Spanning over 4 floors, many exhibitions, only problem is I found them a little small and not very engaging for children. Has a small cafe and a small gift shop which I thought was quite expensive. No car parking available on site.
Experiência positiva: Nice museum to visit, especially considering it's free of charge. Staff are kind and welcoming. A new and very emotive exhibition regarding Death was recently opened. It explores so many aspects of death and the culture around it. Likely to be upsetting to those who have experienced loss or sensitive to said themes and suicide. It does include a warning on entrance. Many aspects were interactive and they have many videos on to watch about stuff within the museum. Unfortunately, certain interactive parts of the museum didn't work but it didn't impact much. Can't wait to see the next exhibition.
Experiência fantástica: LYFF volunteered. It was wonderful seeing families brought their kids for VR...
Experiência positiva: Had a nice date here! Wheelchair accessible, and not super busy despite it being the weekend!
Experiência fantástica: What a fantastic ‘Free’ day out! Plenty to do and see, very interactive & great coffee
Experiência positiva: Quite a gloomy experience...the lighting is very poor and needs updating.
Experiência positiva: I'm a little middle of the road on this. As an amateur historian I do know quite a lot about the industrial history of Leeds. There are some amazing companies from Leeds who were responsible for world history of our city. Fowler's, McLaren, Greens, Hunslet etc are not represented here. I recently visited the Leeds Industrial Museum and the lack of promotion of Leeds companies is pitiful.
Experiência fantástica: Son loved the small city to run wild in I liked the hip hop history and the Greek and Egyptian culture and it was all free also the cafe was really reasonably priced will definitely be back
Experiência positiva: A great way to spend a couple of hours. Some great exhibitions, and a variety of Themes. Kids all liked it and a limited cafe at reasonable prices, would recommend
Experiência fantástica: Nice museum in the heart of the city. On the top floor they have the 3000 year old unified remains of Nesyamun, an Egyptian priest. It’s worth a visit just for that!
Experiência positiva: Great exhibits with some great info and fun interactive displays for the kids but some of the older exhibits like the Leeds story are all broken and none of the interactive stuff work anymore which is a shame. They had an event on in their hiphop exhibit but we didn’t go in as it was very busy and we had prams.
Experiência positiva: Small buy well laid out museum. There was a really interesting hip-hop exhibition when we visited.
Experiência negativa: Very outdated lighting, especially in the natural history department. My grandson found the place to be exceptionally scary and had a meltdown. Poor lighting and strange sounds make it very hostile to some people. The butterflies are very beautiful but very poorly lit. Sad. Needs investment on the 70s lighting system. When I die I want my ashes to be spread in the children's play area. One of the most sad and dismal places I've ever seen. Hip hop exhibition was very good, so there is some hope.
Experiência fantástica: A free to enter Museum in the city centre detailing some of the history of Leeds amongst other historical artefacts. There are interactive displays for children. Spread over multiple floors, accessible by lift or stairs. There is a recommended donation of £2.00 There is a decent enough coffee shop available as well.
Experiência fantástica: Lovely and gorgeous museum. For children a real discovery.
Experiência fantástica: During half term the museum was still relatively calm, which is helpful for myself as an adult with sensory issues and anxiety. There are so many aspects to the museum meaning anyone will enjoy it here, and there is something for all ages, not directly aimed at children, which allows us older history lovers to get stuck in too! Overall, always a lovely experience at Leeds City, definitely will be visiting again soon.
Experiência fantástica: This museum is great. Especially coming from the Netherlands a free museum is already great, but they have an awesome play area for kids under 5. My boys didn't want to leave. Also the exhibitions are very nice with different educational games to interest the kids as well.
Experiência positiva: Great museum Its not a competition but i preferred Liverpool museum to this. The floors are very nicely organized I liked seeing a mummy. There is a lift for easier access
Experiência fantástica: Fantastic. Great for kids and adults. Nice cafe too. What's not to love.
Experiência positiva: Was very good me and kids enjoyed it
Experiência fantástica: Very well done just something different and enjoyable
Experiência positiva: This may be the city museum and it may be free to enter, but unless you are stuck for something to do on a visit to Leeds or a wet weekend, there is not a huge amount to see. On one floor there is a "history" but unless you start at the right end and work your way to present day, which is unclear, it doesn't make sense. There is a "world" exhibition on lower ground, a lot of stuffed creatures, but little of substance. Will not be rushing back sorry
Experiência fantástica: Such an interesting place to visit.we spent several hours here and leisurely walked around all floors.lots of clear information about the exhibits and an encouragement for children to get hands on in various areas.animals, birds, butterflies, geological history and a mummy are just some areas to explore.short term exhibitions of Asian life in leeds and hip hop were informative and colourful.a lovely clean cafe and toilets and free entry,it's well worth a visit.
Experiência fantástica: Great venue, nice atmosphere and friendly staff... ❤️
Experiência positiva: Interesting collection of things to look at. Well worth the entrance fee (it's free!) Depending on who you go with it could take up to several hours to do justice to it, or you could dip in and check out the hip hop exhibition that's currently on.
Experiência fantástica: Liked it very much, good for adults and kids as well, some parts are quite interactive; we went to a candlelight concert in the evening after visiting museum & it was wonderful, loved the view from the balcony & the music was amazing... had a wonderful time in there
Experiência positiva: It's a great place especially for children and there are a lot of interactive quizzes and activities.
Experiência fantástica: Perfect place to spend your time on a day visit to leeds.
Experiência fantástica: Had an enjoyable visit. Not many ppl so easy to meander around.
Experiência positiva: Our young grandchildren loved the basement area with the stuffed animals. Toddler town also good.
Experiência fantástica: Great place to visit
Experiência fantástica: typical city museum, but still worth going in
Experiência fantástica: Absolutely brilliant for adults and children. Some spectacular items on display and the children can dress up free of charge. Worth a visit for anyone.
Experiência fantástica: Great trip out for the kids and another on the list of free places to visit on rainy days or end of the month! Has some great things to look at and interactive things for the kids to do. They especially loved the top floor with ancient Egypt and Greece etc figuring out puzzles and seeing the mummy. They had a hip hop exhibition at the time we went so were dancing around to the music to the amusement of some of the staff! Would recommend for anyone just wanting to explore or fill a gap in the day
Experiência positiva: Certainly worth a visit if you have time, although, to be honest, it isn't a very large museum. By the way .. what is NDA .. do I have any ?
Experiência fantástica: One of the most memorable evenings we’ve ever had
Experiência fantástica: Profoundly interesting place to be with fascinating pieces from ancient to modern times. I had planned to be there for about an hour before visiting other sites in Leeds but didn't notice more than 3 hours go by. My experience was worth every minute of the visit.
Experiência positiva: A nice little museum , the exhibition on Egypt was amazing as was the display on longitude.
Experiência fantástica: The entrance is Free for All. With this huge space and loads of artifacts and old relics, it's amazing. The museum is worth watching for younger kids which will increase their interest in history and archaeology. An overall excellent experience
Experiência positiva: It is a lovely place. Yes small, but you will enjoy it. My main issue was that the lighting in the animals section was low. However, it’s nice to go, free and had a Christmas market just in front of it.
Experiência negativa: Honestly one of the most disappointing city museums I've been too. It was weird and the collection wasn't great. It's on the smaller size and seems to be better suited for kids rather than history loving adults. But if you like terribly done taxidermy animals then you're in for a treat.
Experiência positiva: Lovely museum, play area for little kids and interesting and interactive exhibitions. Free entry!
Experiência fantástica: Very nice place to spend couple of hours. The beauty of not giant museum is that you are not getting tired, y oh remember what you saw and you leave the building with emotions but still up to further adventures! I enjoyed the room with Hip Hop exhibition. So many things from my childhood!!!
Experiência positiva: A little disappointing. Some interesting artifacts. Unfortunately the arrangement appeared less about the actual materials and more about expressing woke politics. I rather like museums to show me what the past was like, not show the past with dubious modern interpretation and values.
Experiência fantástica: It’s a nice place to visit.
Experiência negativa: Quite boring, lighting wasn't the best, and it honestly felt kind of abandoned. Hip hop area was cool though
Experiência fantástica: Candlelight concert by fever at Xmas was beautiful, great venue and so many candles made atmosphere. String quartet played beautifully and a great set of Xmas songs.
Experiência fantástica: Great few hours spent there, and so happy to see the accessibility section in the Hip Hop special exhibition. The dyslexia friendly reading was amazing and made such a huge difference.
Experiência fantástica: Fun for my pre-schooler, especially the little world play area. Wonderful free museum, but does suffer for the fact it doesn't have a large budget so some of the interactive exhibitions don't have all the parts available.
Experiência fantástica: I've always taken my 2 children since they were babies to the Friday club and went yesterday and my children loved it and so did I. Leeds musuem always have something on through the holidays and without the holidays still amazing free day out.
Experiência positiva: In a large building the museum feels at times a bit empty. There is a large history of Leeds which was interesting and had an amazing section showing Anglo Saxon and earlier artifacts including an amazing set of gold jewlery. There is also a section on Romans and Egyptians which has some good items to view. There is a special hip hop exhibition which is worth a visit. The site is free to enter
Experiência fantástica: Amazing place for kids especially the animals area
Experiência fantástica: Been in Leeds for few days short of 2 years and didn’t even think to get to see the beautiful museum. It’s completely free and you don’t have to book before going, you may just walk in. I loved the beautiful map on the floor where you can point where you’ve been or lived before… It’s child friendly. You get to learn about our beloved Leeds . I recommend!
Experiência positiva: Very nice indeedy. One large tiger one skinny one. Pity the scumbags that shot them weren't eaten. Only thing not keen on was the gay lesbian trophy cabinet obviously they deserve praise for being different ha ha.
Experiência fantástica: With all the lights turned down to almost zero power, I couldn't really see any of the displays. We must all consider our carbon footprint, so best not complain. FIVE STARS
Experiência positiva: Attended as part of Leeds Hospital Charity - "Bearwell to the Bears" part of Leeds Bear Hunt. The actual event was brilliant but my adult disabled daughter wasted a lot of time waiting for a lift, which meant we were a little rushed at the end of the visit, also maybe have information that automatic doors on entry need room or they won't open, rather than being instructed to move back from inside, also late in opening to let event ticket holders in.
Experiência fantástica: The museum is free to visit. We received a warm and informative welcome and explored the museum for about one hour. There was a good mix of things to see without being overwhelming. The cafe in the museum was good with good service and reasonable prices. Good toilets too. Perfect for a rainy or very hot day.
