Experiência negativa: We have never had a worse experience in visiting a museum. Here is the reason: Three of us in the family entered with our support dog, that weighed 11 pounds, on a leash, accompanied by government issued support animal documentation. The security person at the desk did not greet us, did not welcome us, and ordered us to leave. We presented the documentation and the person rejected even to look at the card, and became aggressive and started to make strong gestures with her arms. This event occurred at precisely 2pm on June 30th, 2024. A museum is not a guard house, it is community resource to learn and educate about art, culture, and education. However, this museum obviously does not have a mission statement for the benefit of its community. We will send these comments to the tax department. In conclusion, this has been a disgrace.

Experiência fantástica: Interesting exhibits. This museum was open earlier than other art museums in the area on Saturdays, and admission was only $5. The sculpture garden was also nice, and much larger than it seems. On a pleasant central Florida day, it's a nice walk. Friendly staff. Highly recommend pausing to watch the education video on the tablet in the Earl Cunningham exhibit. They also have tote bags available at the museum store for $5.

Experiência negativa: Recent visit underwhelming and disappointing. A stretch to call a museum; more like gallery. Hung one room with art that they had no labels to describe what you are viewing. Another room, the labels were so poorly lit, virtually unreadable. Staff uninterested in a positive experience. Owned and operated by the City of Orlando, doubtful it could stand on its own and not likely to thrive.

Experiência positiva: Intimate and fascinating. Went on a free day with my family, children enjoyed it (free arts&crafts activities for the kids). Staff was friendly and informative. Parking lot is small but plenty of parking near by (parking garage, parking lot across the street).

Experiência positiva: I attended a yoga session in the sculpture garden, which was beautifully landscaped and scenic. Afterward, I explored the museum, which had its own unique charm and majesty. The museum was currently featuring the works of a Pakistani-American artist, which were thoughtfully presented and displayed. Although the museum isn't particularly large, its cozy size adds to its warm and inviting ambiance. Overall, I had a delightful visit and highly recommend taking the time to explore both the grounds and the museum.

Experiência fantástica: This is such a lovely museum! They set out books about the artists whose works were displayed and had a video documentary playing in the permanent exhibition on Earl Cunningham.

Experiência negativa: My fiancée and I lost our wedding venue in Ft Myers Beach due to Hurricane Ian so we attempted to contact the event manager Rebecca. We emailed several times, visited twice, and called for two weeks before she finally answered the phone and advised us that our date wasn’t available. Rebecca promised to respond to our email with other available dates and times but never did. We were forced to find another location with a competent event coordinator.

Experiência negativa: Perfume Smell Drove Me Out! I had a mask on. I openned the outside door to the entrance area where the security guard stands. I could smell the perfume through the mask but thought it was his perfume. Openned the door to the museum and walked to the front desk and then realized through the mask the whole museum is pumped full of perfume. I left immediately after telling the person on the front desk why. Research says 10% to 30% of people in the USA are perfume sensitive. If you are one like me beware of this museum. Sad, I went to it for decades but now I must not go at all.

Experiência positiva: If you like meeting off the beaten path people & experiences, you will thoroughly enjoy the Mennello. Our little trio spent hours wandering through the three exhibits on display: an intriguing collection of photos of Native Americans today & 150 years earlier; a color imaginative display of American "primitive art" by the Van Gogh of Florida, and a small but mind-opening collection by late 19th century American artists smitten by French Impressionists. The charming & knowledgeable gallery hostess offered us tour guide tools available at many of the world's larger museums. Oh, and there's a charming sculpture garden. Don't hesitate to visit.

The rotating part of the exhibit included some fun and unexpected extras. The setting of the museum is beautiful and I would definitely recommend the walk among the sculptures.

Experiência fantástica: This place is a small hidden gem in downtown Orlando. It's located right across from the science center, so if you visit the science center, I'd suggest doing both. The museum is quite small but has a lot of galleries. Not to mention the amazing park outside with all the beautiful willow trees and sculptures. Highly recommend.

Experiência fantástica: This only has 3 rooms because it used to be someone's house. However, we had a wonderful time looking at the main artist from Florida - Earl Cunningham. He paints very brightly colored folk art; full of coastal areas, Florida birds, sail boats and natives. They use a projector light that makes the painting almost like 3D. It pops out and is very interesting to look at. There is also a garden on the water with sculptures. We enjoyed it!

Experiência negativa: The 2 stars are for the garden only. Beautiful! But staff was very rude and unpolite. As a museum enthusiast, I”d never had such a bad experience. Complete waist of time. For sure, do not recomend visiting Orlando museums. If you want to visit nice museums, experience art and interact with kind and gentle museum staff, head to St. Petersburg or to The Charles Hosmer Morse Museum of American Art.

Experiência fantástica: This is a very small museum, but the inexpensive admission reflected that (only $5). We took our time, read all the signs, and saw everything in about an hour. There was available parking in the small free lot in front of the museum. The current traveling exhibit was beautiful, and the docent was friendly. The amazing oak tree in front of the museum is worth the stop in itself.

Maybe 2 hours tops. There is a nice small sculpture garden outside as well. You pay a small fee to go in the museum but well worth it.

Experiência fantástica: The large tree canopy in front of the Mennello Museum was our wedding ceremony location. "The Mayor" was absolutely gorgeous and provided the perfect location for us to exchange our truths. The staff was a little hard to get a hold of and did not greet us while we were there, however all exchanges prior were friendly and polite. I absolutely understand this, as they are running a museum first, a wedding venue second. Overall we had a pleasant experience and would recommend this location.

Experiência fantástica: It's a bit small, but absolutely worth the $5 they charge to get in. They even have a free day every so often. The collection is fantastic and you can spend as long or little enjoying it as you want, within museum hours. They also have expansion plans, with a model and description of their plans inside the museum. Very exciting stuff! It's a hidden gem in Orlando and definitely worth exploring if you haven't been before or if it's been a while.

Experiência fantástica: We have been to the old tree many times but have only gone inside a couple. Today, during a long walk, one of our group had an emergency stop needed and the museum was the closest place. We decided to go in and look around. It was only $5 for adults and $1 for the kids. Many of the exhibits change every few months. The one room had paintings that appear to be backlit but the staff explained the projection lighting they use to achieve the effect. They were very sweet. We had a lovely visit so i guess sometimes when you need to go, you'll end up where you need to be.

Experiência fantástica: The Mennello Museum of Art is owned and operated by the City of Orlando in Loch Haven Cultural Park. Although a small museum with two galleries, it presents temporary exhibitions featuring American art. A photo exhibition on the Underground Railroad opened recently. We learned about self-taught folk artist, Earl Cunningham, whose exhibition is a permanent collection. He has an interesting history: leaving his native Maine and eventually settling in St. Augustine. Cunningham's work uses brilliant colors and interesting perspectives. He painted for over 40 years and was fond of nature, ships and had a fascination with the Seminole Indians. The grounds of the Mennello are a sculpture garden featuring 23 sculptures and adjacent to the Lake Formosa Neighborhood. A self-guided walking map is available in the museum. With the exception of a few pieces gifted to the museum by the artist, the sculptures are owned by the City of Orlando Public Art Collection. Every Sunday, yoga is offered lakeside. Tickets include a pass to enjoy complimentary admission to the museum. Every second Sunday of the month is Free Family Funday - free museum admission all day. The museum is open Tuesday-Saturday 10:30-4:30 p.m. and Sunday from 12-4:30. Closed Mondays and major holidays. Museum admission: Adults $5; Seniors (60+) $4; Students with valid ID and Children 6-17 - $1; Children under 6 and active, retired military and veterans with ID - Free. The museum has plans to add an additional 40K square feet of exhibition to the existing building. Parking is pretty limited; we were fortunate to find a space. I hope parking is expanded with the addition. We spent a couple of tranquil hours on the property; a beautiful place to stroll and be at peace. It is also a great place for kids to run around and burn off energy. We did not know about this lovely spot until we did a TripAdvisor search for things to do near our hotel.

We recommend stopping by to see this exhibit as it is quite stunning. The use of rich colors and nautical themes are fun to explore. We love being able to dive into pieces like his. From his use of precision brush strokes to the layered paints, his pieces are dazzling when viewed up close. The Earl Cunningham collection was assembled by Michael and Marilyn of Winter Park, Florida another amazing area with cool art museums. The City of Orlando opened the museum with this collection over 19 years ago. Since his passing, his paintings have been acquired by museums and collectors all over the world. It’s amazing that we have so many here in Central Florida. In the sculpture garden, you can explore sculptures galore! These diverse pieces are speckled around the museum’s grounds and shady oak trees. Be sure to take time to fully explore this collection as some of the pieces are also along the Orlando Urban Trail which runs along the museum’s grounds. We visited on the second Sunday of the month when they host their Free Family Funday. This allows for families to visit the museum for free and gain the cultural appreciation for the works that are housed here. The museum, owned by the City of Orlando, is a beautiful member of the local area’s art museums. There are plans in the future to expand the museum. We can’t wait to see the new facility when it’s done so we can check out all the new additions.

Experiência positiva: The museum itself is really petite with a mainstay collection from a self-taught local artist and a rotating display featuring a new artist every few months. It's okay for an art gallery, but what really makes it for me is their outdoor sculpture garden and trails nearby. You can go along the Orlando Urban Trail up to Mead Garden that is about 1.5 miles from here or to Lake Highland about the same distance away. It's near to the Orlando Science Center and Orlando Art Museum so you could hit these up as well! Also, Better Than Sex Dessert Cafe is around the corner as well.

The exhibitions are always well curated and interesting. Sitting next to a small lake, there's also a lovely sculpture garden so this is a great place to see some art and have a picnic.
