🗣️ Centro de Natureza e Ciência de Austin Outpost: Opiniões
Experiência positiva: They had kid camps for the summer. Different indoor and outdoor sections. Helped with the heat! They have cold water fountain in the recreation center. Different sections helped. They provide maps and info leaflets too. Will come back when it's cooler. They had a section were kids can play in the water. Nice touch in this hot texas weather.
Experiência fantástica: Loved our visit here. Nice little exhibits inside, very friendly staff and the outside offers plenty to discover even on a hot day. Kids loved to hang out here.
Experiência fantástica: Nice place to take kids and family members for a day trip. Learn a lot... Helpful staff members.
Experiência fantástica: Great place to visit for both kids and adults. So much to see, and so much to learn. A hidden gem, located very close to Zilker Park.
Experiência positiva: Great place to go with young kids. Activities regarding nature and science are always avilable
Experiência fantástica: Beautiful place! Be careful parking though our car got broken into even though nothing was visible. Park next to a Tesla or something
Experiência fantástica: Small, but mighty - it's a great place to see some wildlife and walk trails, and there's a small creek for kids to play in as well.
Experiência fantástica: I loved this place, solo and family explorers all treated with hospitality ! Check out the Bees !
Experiência fantástica: Super friendly guy was greeting us right when we got in. Handed us a map and explained where everything is located. When we had questions he was answering us right away. Sadly we couldn't look at all the animals because it was our last day in Austin and we still had things planned for the day. It was super nice inside tho with lots of stuff for kids to learn
Experiência fantástica: What a neat free way to spend a few hours! The first building has some neat taxidermy, interactive toys and a trading post (bring your rocks, shells, etc. to trade). Outside, there is a stream you can play in and collect shells and minnows. They supply some nets and buckets. The rocks can be slippery, so be prepared with extra clothes just in case your kid lands in the water. There are several birds and a few other animals outside that were rescued. There is one more small building with some fish.
Experiência fantástica: It's a small gateway for kids next to zilker Park. It has a dino pit too where kids can excavate some fossil
Experiência fantástica: Very pleasant and fun place for kids under 8 years old. Older kids might find it interesting but you get kids would love it there. Bring some water friendly clothing for kids .. they can use the nets and buckets there for free to catch fishes in a small and very safe stream. ( Minimal but parent supervision required) The Dino would be fun for kids too.
Experiência fantástica: It’s one of my favor places to visit with my granddaughter! We love the owls and other birds. The small creek is fun to cool off in. Not to mention the amazing trails to hike! Highly recommend visiting and supporting!
Experiência fantástica: clean and peaceful, great place to learn and have fun, very educational and has lots of items to view
Experiência fantástica: Loved the variety of wildlife and plants. Relaxing and friendly atmosphere. Would visit again!
Experiência fantástica: Nice place to explore. My grandson loves the dinosaur/sandpit and indoor museum.
Experiência fantástica: I went to the science center with my 3 kids after they had collected some fossils. They traded them for points to buy other nature stuff and learned about what they brought in and how it was created. There were also some cool things like moose antlers laying on the tables that you could pick up and look at. the volunteer David, who was at the trade counter, was very passionate about teaching the kids. There were 3 axolotls in tanks and a bee hive sort of thing with a glass panel on the side where you could watch the bees enter, leave, and build the hive. Very positive experience, and the kids really enjoyed it.
Experiência fantástica: Physical space is small but our kids could have spent all day playing in the water and digging in the dinosaur sand pit. Beautiful space.
Experiência fantástica: We went “native” in Austin. Our afternoon was enjoyed in this layback garden trail. The avian friends are well cared for. The grounds had a water feature to dip your feet in. Also, the fossils were put for discovery and polite staff there to help with questions.
Experiência fantástica: Amazing place. Wonderful for locals and travelers. Take the hiking trails, they are unbelievably cool -not too long too. Live animals are a nice touch for all. Staff and services are awesome
Experiência fantástica: A hidden gem in Zilker Park. This Science Center has a stream you can dip your feet in and a dino dig pit with lots of sand for the littles. It's very peaceful with several walking trails. Lots of shade on a hot day. Parking isn't too difficult and you can park and visit for free. Everything closes at 5pm.
Experiência positiva: A very interesting place to visit. Several speces of wildlife to see, as well as ponds and vegetation. We arrived on a day when there were many school field trips going on so it was much busier than normal.
Experiência fantástica: Yet another great free activity with the kids
Experiência fantástica: Very cool (and free!) little nature center. The visitor center has several small exhibits, a trade counter (!), a seed library (!!), an apiary, two axolotl (!!!) and activities for kids. There are also many wire enclosures the grounds with rescued local animals and birds. Hiking trails are all short and easy walks to a dry creek that's fun to explore. It's very pretty and educational.
Experiência fantástica: Where else can you easily spend 2.5hrs for pennies on the dollar these days? Surprised my 8 & 10 yo boys still fought to stay in the Dino dig pit longer. Great seating options for parnets to recoup after walking before heading home ;-)
Experiência fantástica: Free!!! An awesome place to explore trails and see rescued animals and plants.
Experiência fantástica: Nestled within Zilker Park, the Austin Nature & Science Center is more than just a museum; it's a sanctuary for injured and abandoned animals, a haven for imprinted ex-pets, and a wonderland for curious young minds. My recent visit left me awestruck by the center's dedication to animal welfare and its ability to ignite a love for nature in children of all ages.
Experiência fantástica: Super friendly staff and knowledgeable. Animals look well cared for. Great little spot for a family to explore and learn!
Experiência fantástica: Nice place for chicken. The animals are well kept. The integration with the natural environment is great. The trail is also nice.
Experiência fantástica: Awesome spot! Close to downtown, easy parking. Great for families, as there is plenty to keep kiddos entertained. Couple of trails, too. The rescued animals were a big hit.
Experiência fantástica: My girlfriend's boys love this place. They learn so much!
Experiência fantástica: Fun place to see wildlife and the science behind it! They had birds of prey, honeybees, a dino sand pit, animal skeletons, and a nice walk around a pond!
Experiência fantástica: Beautiful nature & science center!!-- AND there's an awesome trail (or two!) to hike behind the birds of prey area!! It's a win win win. I don't know if we were supposed to pay!? I didn't see anything. They do take donations. Bathrooms are clean. Things for small kids to interact with. (Vending machine but no food or drink for sale) Peaceful park. Dino dig area for smaller kids to dig for "fossils". Beautiful park. And do that riverbed hike (moderate to difficult) behind the birds of prey area. Bring water. Have fun!!! Hope to go back when kiddo is even bigger one day.
Experiência fantástica: The kids had so much fun and learned about so many different things!
Experiência fantástica: What an awesome place to learn about Austin's native wildlife.
Experiência fantástica: The area is very clean and it has many birds and animals in it. Not only that, it includes a small playground for kids while also having many cool things in the buildings. I would most definitely recommend this at some point.
Experiência fantástica: Fond memories of coming here as a kid
Experiência fantástica: It was a great time and learned new stuff!
Experiência fantástica: I used to come here all the time when I was little, such an exciting place with loads to explore.
Experiência fantástica: My son loves it!! Great for families and children. Would definitely recommend it. Free to the public. They have a Dino dig pit, where the children can dig for Dino “bones”. They have a animal exhibits, a lot of educational interactive activities. They have a pond were you can catch fish and release of course. Over all a great experience would definitely recommend and come back.
Experiência positiva: I love there. I wish the science room was bigger and had more kid-friendly scientific equipment.
Experiência fantástica: We had a very nice visit and a great chat with Itzel on site. This center takes care of injured animals and provides great information about the fauna and flora of Texas.
Experiência fantástica: Kids had so much fun here, they didn't want to leave! They enjoyed the visitors center exhibits, dinosaur digging area, creek, and pond. Animal exhibits were closed during our visit.
Experiência fantástica: agarrando pezcaditos
Experiência negativa: Honestly really lack luster for a trail
Experiência fantástica: Wishing I knew about this place earlier! I had an amazing experience
Experiência positiva: Place is good. My car got broken into here at the parking lot. So please be careful when you visit
Experiência positiva: small, but well kept
Experiência fantástica: Wow, wish I would have known about this place sooner. Such a great place to take the kids, like a small zoo downtown!
Experiência fantástica: Great place for little kids! My 2-year-old loved playing in the sand and uncovering dinosaurs’ bones!
Experiência fantástica: Really enjoyed it, would recommend for both families and couples.
Experiência fantástica: It's fun for kids with plenty of interesting signs for adults. They rehab injured animals which you get to see up close. Best of all it's free
Experiência positiva: For a free place to take kids it was quite nice. Some animals to see, nice nature areas to walk around, some free things for the kids to do.
Experiência fantástica: Awesome place to enjoy nature. All the animals are rescues.
Experiência fantástica: Fifty years living in Austin and I visited the Nature and Science Center today for the first time. I felt like the little kid that went to the Smithsonian for the first time. Loved it and all the exhibits. Just another cool reason to love Austin!
Experiência fantástica: OMG this place is wonderful. My kids are teenagers and they loved it. It's a non profit organization so remember to give a donation but otherwise it's all free fun.
Experiência fantástica: A great place to take kids. Has a combination of indoor and outdoor activities and animals to see. When we went the kids could trade nature items with a staff member. A really cool live bee hive behind glass.
Experiência fantástica: Lovely place to learn about nature in a hands on way. I especially appreciated the fact that there were a lot of stepstools so that kids could be high enough to see things without having to be picked up over and over again. My son and I had a great time, we will definitely be back!
Experiência fantástica: Really great place for adults and kids both! I think it's wonderful the City of Austin supports this place.
Experiência fantástica: What a wonderful hidden gem. So much fun and interactive exhibits to get my daughter interested in science and nature. The live bee hive especially was so cool to see. I also loved the tesselation puzzles and ferrofluids. This place has so much to offer for an afternoon of entertainment for parents and children. I can't wait to come back.
Experiência fantástica: Wonderful experience here. Staff was friendly. They have tons of animals that they have rescued and lots of educational material. And it's all free! Fun for all ages.
Experiência fantástica: Nice place and had amazing experience with my 3 year old. She kept on digging till she got hold of spinosaur fossil
Experiência fantástica: Great place to take the family to kill some time without breaking the bank. Plenty of little activities and places to visit in this area that will keep kids entertained and adults enjoying the views. Definitely recommend it for anyone with kids.
Experiência positiva: Nice calm and relaxing place for visit, not as we expected as a scienze museum but I outside is exciting to see birds and some other animals as well. For sure in the summer it schools even more beautiful to see all the blooming trees! Recommend who loves science, nature and quite places.
Experiência fantástica: If it’s FREE, It’s my whole family! What a delightful experience for members of the whole family. The dinosaur dig pit is a bone in a haystack! The exhibits are modest but informative.
Experiência fantástica: This is such a fabulous and free nature and science center in Austin! There were tons of hands-on activities for kids as well as exhibits suited for all ages. You’ll spend about an hour here (or more if you explore the trails). I could definitely recommend to anyone thinking about visiting. They also offer free parking under the bridge.
Experiência fantástica: A wonderful place to visit to see the natural side of Austin, perfect for kids and adults who love nature! There are multiple exhibits along the pond; insects, reptiles, birds, and local animals. You can also learn about all the native trees and flowers with beautiful gardens around every turn. There is free parking across the street and free to visit with donations coving the operating costs. In the main building, you can find restrooms and a discovery area with rocks, fossils, and multiple animal information stations.
Experiência positiva: Family friendly. Stroller/wheelchair access mostly. Great outdoor and some indoor exhibits. Free admission. Donations appreciated. Park under the overpass. Love they have clean bathrooms and water dispensers. Definite recommend for locals and visitors.
Experiência fantástica: Hidden gem near downtown Austin. It's a nice venue to bring the kids or anyone interested in nature. There's a nice short trail to their various displays. At the Center, we saw a bobcat, porcupine, raven and many more birds in their Birds of Prey section.
Experiência fantástica: Beautiful place. Great to come and explore. Although entry is free please donate to help keep places like this thriving! Pro Tip: if your child likes getting messy exploring, bring a change of clothes!
Experiência positiva: Neat place to spend on a nice day.
Experiência fantástica: So much fun!
Experiência fantástica: Poor animals..
Experiência fantástica: The place is amazing!!
Experiência fantástica: Loved this place, it's informational and clean. But best of all it's free.
Experiência fantástica: An excellent free educational place to take children.
Experiência fantástica: Fantastic Nature center. I always enjoy coming here. It is highly recommended by any sane person. Just do it!
Experiência negativa: Check in advance -at this time of year they are NOT open 5 or even 7 days a week Google doesn't suggest that. Also beware of the clean up at Zilker.
Experiência fantástica: If you want to connect with nature, this is a great opportunity. What a gift from God.
Experiência positiva: This place is probably most enjoyable for children, but the price is right (free!), and we saw a bobcat, + several other very cool animals!
Experiência fantástica: A beautiful and calm place. The small wonders building was closed for renovations the day I went but everything else was so peaceful.
Experiência negativa: So very glad we drove an hour and waited thirty minutes for this place only to be left hanging. Nobody came to open the doors. Have disappointed kids that need a bathroom and have to replan our day. Not the end of the world but also super disappointing and frustrating.
Experiência fantástica: I've been coming here since 2009, still plast the same smile when I walk up. So much to see, learn, experience. Just a treasure definitely a must visit.
Experiência fantástica: Great place to take small kids. There's a dino pit to dig for fossils in, some rescued animals, birds of prey, and a nice hiking trail.
Experiência fantástica: You maybe are disappointed when you first drop by here, but there are many animals children liove. Most of all, staffs are extremely kind and they love kids. The programs they offer are not great but children like them because of instructors.
Experiência fantástica: A lot of free fun to be had, great place to take your kids. Multiple animal exhibits, plenty of scenery for family photos, and the Dino Pit will tire out the most energetic member of your crew. If you have a family, I highly recommend setting aside a few hours for a visit.
Experiência fantástica: We loved it. The exhibit instilled learning in my daughter. I also liked the way they are taking care of injured birds of prey. Well maintained park. It is advisable to do reservations before you visit but at times of they have cancellations then they allow you to visit.
Experiência fantástica: Really nice place with a small trekking for children. Kids can try to dig some fake fossil in the yard. Kids should come to workshop first to take a look on instruction how to find some “point” and exchange it to real things :)
Experiência fantástica: This place would be a great place to bring your kids! I wish we had more time there and the next time Im in Austin I will make sure I show up earlier. The staff that I met were very nice as well!
Experiência fantástica: As a serious Science Center enthusiast I would say that this place is pretty great. Definitely more outside things than inside but it was nice.
Experiência fantástica: What a great spot for kids and adults! Nice paths, lots of signage, cool birds, a bobcat, turtles, and lots of different trees and flowers. Even with school field trips, it was a relaxing area. The staff were super friendly and helpful, one even providing a bit of info on some of their owls while she tended to them. Parking is free but across the street, under the highway in a dirt lot. After a short hike, you get to the main building. The cost is cheap, but hopefully you feel compelled to donate more to help with their operating costs and improvement plans. There are a couple exhibits in the building, restrooms, and a discovery area (different rocks, fossils, small animal skeletons, etc). Outside, there are several play/picnic areas. Lots of benches on the trails, many in the shade. Simply a great place to spend a day.
Experiência fantástica: My son absolutely loved the dino pit, he could have dug for dinosaurs all day. I highly recommend if you have young children. It had many other activities and exhibits that could keep them entertained for hours.
Experiência negativa: I’m sure this place would’ve been fun. They didn’t put that they are temporarily closed, like everyone else. So we drove all the way out here and so did a lot of other people, just to realize they were closed.
We do apologize for that and have made changes to reflect our closure. We are sorry to hear about your trip for naught, but appreciate your understanding in this very trying time. We hope you had a good rest of your time in Austin and hope you will come back to see us when we are open to the public in the future.
Experiência fantástica: I love going here with my family!
Experiência fantástica: One of our favorite places.
Experiência fantástica: Awesome place for everyone!
Experiência negativa: Poorly decorated place not even the nature looks pretty .I’m from a Big city I was thinking maybe Austin places were going to look better then My city and it’s pollution LoL....Don’t think So!!!!Place was very boring zzzzzzzzz
Experiência fantástica: We had a blast here! Its free and the kids will love it!!
