🗣️ Museu Infantil Port Discovery: Opiniões
Experiência positiva: Came here with a 9 & 6 year old who got over it real quick. Would have liked to see staff around the museum to tend to the areas where children were wreaking havoc.
Experiência fantástica: My grandbabies had a Blast!!! This day trip was very Enjoyable and worth it all.
Thank you for the five stars! We hope to see you again soon with your grandchildren!
Experiência fantástica: My 8 month old loves this museum so much, especially the story time and the water area. There’s so much to do for kids of all ages. I expect we’ll be coming here for many years.
Hi Jessie! That is awesome to hear! We are actually about the give our Wonders of Water exhibit a makeover in the next month so your kid will have an even better visit next time!
Experiência fantástica: Such a neat experience for my two children! Was enjoyed by both my babies, ages 17 months and 6 years old. Definitely recommend!
Hi Amanda! Thank you for the five stars. We are happy to hear both your children had a wonderful experience!
Experiência fantástica: We walked in and were greeted... Ok. Parking is validated. This place is huge. 3 levels of fun, even for adults. There is a 3 story slide that you have to climb up a rope way to get to. My daughter loved it and so did I. The water area was fun and the Egyptian area as well. A place to eat and a store.
Hi Ricky! Thank you for the five stars. We hope to see you again soon!
Experiência fantástica: Took my granddaughter last weekend, i was amased how they really fixed it up, had more attractions it was really nice .
Hi Derick! Thank you for the five stars. Make sure to come back soon as we are adding more exhibits and updating our older ones over the next few years!
Experiência fantástica: This was our first time visiting Port Discovery and we had so much fun! My kids loved the climb up to the big slide (make sure you bring socks) and the water room (bring dry clothes) the most. We had a lot of fun in the Egypt room as well. We packed our lunch and there was a little room with chairs and tables. We got there a bit before noon and found a table. When we left there were groups standing and eating. We had a lot of fun and will go back to visit again.
Hi Krissy! We are so glad you had a wonderful time visiting us. We hope to see you again soon!
Experiência fantástica: Loved this place. Loads of great things to do with kids. Must try if you plan to visit Baltimore. You can exit and come back in anytime, say you want to step out for lunch, there are lot of good eateries nearby too. My kids loved the water station and the big tunnel slide! So fun!!
Hi Preethi! Thank you for the five stars and kind words! We hope to see you again soon!
Experiência fantástica: Probably the best children's museum we've been to (and we've been to a lot all over the country!) Clean. Organized. Lots to do. Great location with lots more to do in the area. Great pizza place across from it as well.
Hi! Thank you for the five stars and the kind rewards!
Experiência positiva: Lots of toys. 3 floors of fun. I recommend buying your tickets in advance. It only gets 3 stars due to significant safety concerns and the employees just not caring. There were electrical outlets within 18 inches of the floor where the under 2 year olds could get to them and many didn't have covers on them. I realize some are child safe but not all. Please see the attached pictures as proof of my claim (pictures of child safe ones included as well). We pointed this out to the staff and the response was and I quote..."Oh someone told me about that weeks ago, oh well." and then the staff member wandered off like child safety was not her job. #NotMyJob. We told a second employee who put in a maintenance work order promptly.
Hi Todd, thank you for sharing this information with us. Safety is a priority for us as a children's museum for everyone. This information has been sent to our leadership team to let them know about what had occurred. We would like to hear more about your experience with our staff members. If you would like to share more information with us please email us at [email protected]. Thank you!
Experiência fantástica: Variety of activities, worth the price for children, not parents though.
Hi Karmin! Thank you for the five stars!
Experiência fantástica: We loved it, clean and so fun! The Egyptian exhibit was awesome. This was one of the best museums we've been too!
Hi Michelle! Thank you for the five stars! Our Adventure Expedition Exhibit is a real classic
Experiência fantástica: I am visiting from Utah and took my grandkids here. They absolutely loved it, and so did I.
Hi Heather! We are glad to hear that you had a positive experience while visiting MD.
Experiência fantástica: Great place for kids to explore and have fun. Pleasant staff and great water activities.
Hi! Thank you for the five stars. The Wonders of Water exhibit is a favorite of ours. We hope to see you again soon!
Experiência fantástica: My kids have lived it here from their barely toddling stages to their nearly preteen "eras" is great to get them to unplug for a bit and use their imaginations again.
Hi! Thank you for the five stars. We hope to see you again soon!
Experiência fantástica: A really awesome place for kids to have fun and learn. Very interactive for little fingers that love to touch everything
Hi Shelby! Thank you for the five stars and the kind words!
Experiência fantástica: We couldn't finish all the activities. The children had a wonderful time
Hi! Thank you for the five stars. There is so much to do so we hope to see you again soon!
Experiência fantástica: Great place for kids to use their imagination and let energy out. My girls loved it so much, we went twice in one weekend.
Hi! Thank you for the five stars. We hope to see you again soon!
Experiência positiva: Fun place, lots to do, but even though we were there as soon as they opened and made sure to go to the areas where others weren't, items were missing, e.g. there was one train piece on the tracks at the top floor, the conveyor belt had no blocks, they were all up at the very top, there were only three leaves/butterflies for the air tube (that we found after scouring the place).
Hi! Thank you for the four stars. We hope to see you again soon!
Experiência fantástica: Highly recommend Port Discovery for ages 0-10+. We hadn’t been since before COVID and loved the renovation since our last visit. My 7, 5 and 2 YOs loved the sky climber, theater, water area, port, and so much more! It was really well-staffed, which I know is more challenging these days. We joined story time and the staff running it was so engaging. It was not crowded on a week day, which was great for us!
Hi! Thank you for the five stars. We hope to see you again soon!
Experiência negativa: Visited today and would not recommend for children over the age of 5, and DEFINITELY not for autistic children. We wanted to visit during a sensory morning, but they didn't have any over the summer, so we thought a random weekday would be ok. It wasn't overly crowded, but my daughter was overstimulated and wanted to leave from the second we walked in. The entire building echoes with no sound dampening. Even if we had visited during a sensory time the building cannot support that without sectioning off the space into more actual rooms and adding sound proofing. There were camp groups with screaming children and the museum employees and the camp counselors did nothing to stop the screaming. Even noise dampening headphones didn't do much. We figured we already drove 2 hours and paid so we should stay. My daughter tends to elope when she's overwhelmed. A lot of the exhibits were in the open or in hallways, meaning we spent a lot of time chasing her. Even the rooms with doors were propped open, except for the baby/toddler room. So any special needs children who elope can't be contained to a smaller, safer area, and the noise echoes even more. The design of the climbing structure doesn't show this on the website, but there are locations on upper levels where children can leave other than the bottom of the structure and the slide. These are half blocked off, and typical children would know not to climb over the half doors. But a developmentally delayed child wouldn't know that, and the building has several staircases that could lead to a child wandering to the exit unaccompanied. As far as the museum itself, from a non-special needs perspective: The climbing structure and the water room were the only interesting things in the museum. The climbing structure was overrun by camp kids, so my daughter was too overwhelmed to try it, which only left the water room as a fun place. We tried everything else, but there were so many dingy spaces with very little to interest children 5 and older. The photos on the website are very misleading and made the exhibits seem way cooler. A lot of buttons and machines didn't work and toys/pretend play items had barely enough pieces to play with for one kid, let alone a very crowded museum. My daughter got bored after about an hour and a half, including the time it took us to eat lunch. We had to pay ridiculous prices for both parents too, where most places geared towards toddlers/preschoolers at least discount parents to a price under $10 or even free. This place says it's for kids up to age 10, but I would argue the exhibits are only for ages 2-4, with 5-10 year olds only enjoying the climbing structure. There are way cheaper, way cooler places. Don't go here.
Hi Kelly, We are sorry to hear that you had a less than ideal experience at our museum. Our team is always trying to make sure that everyone has a wonderful time with their children learning and having fun. Our leadership team is interested to hear more about your visit to Port Discovery. If you would like to provide more feedback and detailed comments to our team directly, please email [email protected].
Experiência positiva: This place is something that you definitely got to see at least once. I've been to children's museums before Whitaker center in Harrisburg quite a bit and after the last time that I was there and I was very disappointed. I decided we needed to find something different so we made a little trip to this place in Baltimore. They got a parking garage nearby so that helped little confusing but it worked once we got in the building the initial site when you walk in after you've paid. It's just something to see this giant boat with climbing towers that go up to a huge slide that somebody must actually either a be telling kids. No you do not try to climb up it or b going down it with a cookie paper covered in vegetable oil because that slide is slick, the way a slide should be fast and fun. It's got three floors. All kinds of things for your kids to do and all kinds of environments for every child from loud and obnoxious too wet and fun too. Feeling like you're exploring a pyramid in Egypt all the way down to the crypt and then coming out and working on a cargo ship and then driving it. Trying your hand at serving people and cooking in a full size fake kitchen. I mean it's got tons of stuff to do. You're only downfall is going to be all the other parents because if you are a responsible parent who watches your child and makes sure that they take turns and are fair to other children, I can guarantee you in this place so you'll run into at least 10 different parents who will not think like you, which is the suck thing about going to these family environments, but you do the best you can. Aside from that, the staff there was very friendly and we learned a lot. They were having a health fair that day and they actually had Baltimore's health department there and they were showing people the dangers of smoking by showing a real set of lungs next to a real set of smoker, lungs and then actually trying to inflate them. My child of course wanted to grab everything with her bare hands which we had to quickly wash and then the ladies were kind enough to provide gloves so that the children could touch but it was a very Cool learning experience. So by all means, if you're looking for something to do with your kids, check this place out. It's pretty wild. And like I said, when you walk through the door after you've paid the first site, you see usually takes your breath away.
Hi Andrew! Thank you for your kind words about your visit. We are so happy to hear that you and your kids enjoy themselves and we look forward to seeing you again!
Experiência fantástica: Super fun experience for the grand kids!! Go early before nap time! $25 entry for each person. (Active Duty and Veterans get in free, but the family still has to pay) Seems like a lot at first, but it is THAT awesome, AND they pay for part of your parking. (Be sure to bring your parking ticket to get validated) It is loud! But the kidos had fun. Multiple levels and lots of hands on stuff to learn and play with. TAKE SOCKS! You have to have socks to climb and play. If you forget, they do have socks for sale. There is a snack bar if you need a snack while you are trying to keep up with the kids. Highly recommend!
Hi Jeff! Thank you for the five stars and the kind words! We hope to see you again soon especially with all the new exhibits we are adding to the museum.
Experiência fantástica: Such a cool museum. My kid loved it for her field trip and the staff clearly has the process down for getting those large school groups in and around. Very impressive!
Hi! Thank you for the five stars. We are so happy to hear that your child enjoyed their visit. We hope to see you again soon!
Experiência fantástica: So many activities for children! My two were so excited and happy. We spent 2-1/2 hours and could have spent many more, but the adults wore out!
Hi Mary! Thank you for the five stars! We hope to see you again soon!
Experiência fantástica: Huge space with three floors of exhibits each varies in design and experiences provided. Tots area for the littles. Water area was small but enjoyable. One of the better Children’s Museums we’ve been to. The slide and climber was a huge hit with my kids (9yrs old).
Hi! Thank you for the five stars. We hope to see you again soon!
Experiência fantástica: Fantastic children's museum. My children ages 6 and 8 had hours of fun playing. The facility was clean and had a lot of interesting things to do for a wide range of ages.
Hi Mikey! Thank you for your kind words and we hope to see you again soon!
Experiência fantástica: Great day of fun for littles!
Experiência fantástica: We had a lot of fun!
Hi! Thank you for the five stars. We hope to see you again soon!
Experiência fantástica: Fabulous place for young kids. 11 and under.
Hi! Thank you for the five stars. We hope to see you again soon!
Experiência fantástica: This is one of the most fun children’s museums I have visited. A lot of variety of activities for kids, even at very young ages. This one had a mini library for kids to take a break and an impressive puzzle-filled Egyptian exhibit.
Experiência fantástica: Really nice museum. Not the average boring one. Mom took me and all my siblings there and the little ones loved it!! My younger brother didn’t wanna leave and said he wanted to sleep there it was their first time there. It’s rlly amazing. And when you interact with the younger ones, it’s not boring for you there. But outside of port discovery: Parents, if your child is sick, or you’re sick, stay at home and don’t be selfish. You’re not gonna die bc you didn’t go. You’re putting your sick child at risk of even more sickness and you’re getting other kids sick. There’s no reason for a child to be running around sick and getting other kids sick. Especially when the other kids rarely ever get sick. There’s new moms visiting with their nieces and nephews and newborn babies are getting sick bc you can’t stay home and go on a day you’re not sick or your child isn’t sick. It’s selfish. Don’t make it to where other ppl don’t wanna come here bc you want to be selfish and get everyone sick
Experiência fantástica: Wonderful place for kids!! Very entertaining and educational museum. My kids love coming here and they get to do things they always want to but can’t, like pump gas at the gas station or use the ATM. Staff is very friendly and there is never a wait to get in. It is easier if you have tickets in advance then you don’t have to stop and pay you can just check in. I think they have a limited amount of guests that can come in one day so it’s better to buy in advance.
Hi! Thank you for the five stars. We hope to see you again soon!
Experiência fantástica: A lot to do and really busy. Went as a school trip and the kids had so much fun, one cried cause she didnt want to leave lol.
Hi! Thank you for the five stars. We are happy to hear your field trip went so well. We hope to see you again soon!
Experiência fantástica: I have been multiple times. It's been about 5 years since I last came though. My 7 year old had a field trip, so I joined separately with my 1 year old. We went on a Tuesday. Our tickets were 25 for the both of us. Only babies under 1 are free. Parking 2+ hours is a flat $28. There is a parking garage right next door! They have multiple areas for kids 3 and under and the rest of the place is basically for bigger kids. There's lot to do! All field trips leave at 1, so if u come during the weekday with your kids, after 1 is best because it's very empty without all the kids running around. I want to think every area has a worker there to manage and maintain, but I didn't see a worker at all stations. I assume they're under staffed? Overall, besides the multiple field trips and the chaos, its an awesome plan to take your kids. I recommend!
Experiência fantástica: Port Discovery is such a gem for children. An entire indoor playground designed for them and trust me your kids will love it. They have spaces for all ages, including toddlers and babies. If the price is a little too high to stomach (trust I understand) they do a community day about once a month for $5/pp. (tickets have to purchased in advanced) Even adults can have fun exploring and playing with your kids. If you plan on going often I would suggest buying the membership, it truly is worth it for bad weather days.
Hi! Thank you for the five stars. We continue to work towards making sure all children at different ages have a good experience! Also just to let you know, our Community Days are $10 each month starting in the fall through the school year. But if you have a Maryland EBT/WIC card you can get tickets for $5. We hope to see you again soon!
Experiência fantástica: American Alliance of Museums closing reception was hosted here and it was FANTASTIC and so MUCH FUN!! Great space!!
Experiência fantástica: Very fun atmosphere for kids! Lots of creative minds, lots of creative activities. There were a few minor issues with cleanliness, but with so many children... I can't say that's a major problem. Happy to bring my granddaughter back here anytime.
Experiência fantástica: The Port Discovery was a great place to learn through play. The staff are upbeat and friendly. The immersive exhibits were a lot of fun while learning.
Hi! Thank you for the five stars. We appreciate your kind words and cannot wait for you to see the new exhibits we have coming soon!
Experiência positiva: I've lived in Maryland for over 4p yrs and have never been here, mainly because it's downtowna nd finding parking is a pain. However, they have a partnership with the garage literally next door for $15 which is decent. We found street parking across from president street for free because we came early but the convenience of next door parking is awesome. There are 3 levels inside with so many different areas to play. My 3 yr old loved it. My 11 yr old actually lasted 2 hrs but were really there for their sister. There is a huge slide that spand 3 floors that is pretty impressive. Lots of imaginative play and hands on activities. They hold specials each year for family memberships which could be worth it if you are close. I'm 30 min away and to me that's not close enough for the hassle of dealing with downtown. Normal pricing is 25 per person. I feel that is a lot for what you get when adults have to pay the same price but I understand the cost. Membership is the way to go if this is your kind of place. We actually got free tickets for their birthday celebration and it was great! My dtr was asleep in 2 min of the car ride home.
Hi! Thank you for the four stars. We are glad you had a wonderful time at our Birthday Bash to celebrate our 25th anniversary. We hope to see you again soon!
Experiência fantástica: We are members at PDCM. We are here regularly. The kids love coming here! There are so many interactive exhibits and activities to choose from!
Experiência fantástica: Always a fun experience. I have 2 kids with a larger age gap and both can have a great time! Huge Win!
Experiência fantástica: Tons of stuff to do in this place. We only stayed 2 hours and still felt like we only breezed through everything.
Experiência fantástica: Port Discovery Children's Museum in Baltimore is an absolute delight for little ones, especially two-year-olds! It's packed with colorful, hands-on exhibits that perfectly cater to their endless curiosity and boundless energy. Your toddler will love splashing around in the water play area and exploring the tot trails, which are specially designed for small children. These activities not only keep them entertained but also support their motor and social skills development. It's a wonderful place for young families to spend a fun and educational day together! We're definitely becoming members and can't wait to come back.
Experiência fantástica: Lots to do. Our 1 and 4 yr old were entertained the entire day. There was even more our kids could do in future years as they get older. If you are a member to another ACM-associated children's museum, get half-off tickets. There is some water play on the top floor, so consider bringing a change of clothes or at least shoes. Their food court is disappointing, just a collection of highly processed junk food. Step outside and go to the Kabul Grill next door for an exceptional meal.
Experiência negativa: Great for kids but pricey. I arrived 30 min before close and was not able to get compensation for another days visit and I paid the same price for my grand as myself.
Experiência fantástica: amazing place with great activities for kids. we went when it was only five dollars per kid. try street parking with meters it much cheaper then lot. so happy we went here!
Experiência fantástica: My son loved his play date here! He had also been here for a school field trip, so he was excited to show me around. Let me say this, we were there for 4 hours, and we still didn’t see and do everything! My son had so much fun, and that’s what’s most important to me. A note to brave parents who like me decide to do the Skyclimber: give yourself time to recover. That’s a climb!
Experiência positiva: They do not accept out of state SNAP cards which made this pretty pricey. Overall, my three year old spent a good 5 hours there!
Experiência fantástica: Loved this childrens museum! Spent a whole day here with two littles and the kids still didn’t want to leave! Highly recommend!
Hi! We are so happy to hear that you had a great time. Thank you for the positive review. We hope to see you again soon!
Experiência fantástica: Port Discovery was really enjoyable for the kids. I went on a class trip with my class.
Experiência fantástica: 2nd visit here, kiddo loves it. Be aware that if they really enjoy the water play exhibit, it's closed on Tuesdays for cleaning. Thankfully, there's plenty else to do.
Experiência fantástica: Came here while visiting some friends with our kiddos and had a really nice time. Tickets are priced affordably in my opinion, as there's lots to do and explore. There are different floors with different rooms and activities and we spent about 2 hours there just playing and exploring. We still didn't cover it all but did experience most of it by the time we were done. Ages 4 and up to 10 would probably enjoy it the most but they do have a nice large play area for 3 and under as well as other areas for the littler ones. My 6 year old's favorite was the climbing and play area in the middle of the museum. Would definitely recommend a visit! We would come back if in the area again.
Experiência fantástica: I took my little cousin here because... Well, I didn't know where else to do with her. And man, am I glad I did. This is a pretty cool place with many exhibits and areas to explore (the overarching theme of this place). I would have loved to have played here when I was younger. Now as an adult, I can't be seen in here alone unless I have a little excuse to go. And it does seem, from how new many of the exhibits seem and from posted pictures, that they do update the place. I'd highly recommend for any parent with younger children. However, I'm not so sure it should be called a musuem...more like a-musement...
Experiência positiva: Nice venue for kids. They have all different kinds of hands on activities. Considering this place foe a birthday party? They have 2 party rooms. The rainbow room is large but the other room is more exciting! They have wacky mirrors and bubbles. (Just saw the empty rooms cause they won't let visitors in the rooms if a party is going on. There are 4 floors of fun . I recommend going earlier for the younger children under 4. All the employees are kind and super helpful! Have your stroller with you It's a walk just to get from the parking garage to the front entrance and after playing hard. Many of the little ones were tired and cranky! One little boy threw his jacket on the floor when his father wouldn't pick him up. Overall, it was a nice day trip!
Experiência fantástica: We ABSOLUTELY love this place! It was so much fun. The ship was awesome, and we not only had fun but learned a lot! But BE WARNED: there is a water activity room, open year round!!
Experiência fantástica: Port Discovery is my top pick for children's museums in Maryland. Over the years, my family and I have made it a tradition to visit, and we're always delighted by the ever-changing room themes across its three floors. With interactive, hands-on play areas focusing on adventure and exploration, it offers both fun and educational experiences for all ages. Our personal favorites include the wonder of waters and the sky climber, which serves as the building's centerpiece attraction. Convenient parking adds to the appeal, making it accessible for families. Geared towards children aged 10 and under, we consistently have a blast during our visits, typically spending about 2-3 hours exploring the various exhibits. Additionally, the museum hosts diverse programs and events throughout the day, enhancing the overall experience.
Experiência positiva: This place is pretty cool. Good for kids. Some stuff was broken. But overall it was a nice visit.
Hi! Thank you for leaving a review and we are happy you had a nice visit. Thank you for letting us know about broken material. Every week our staff tries to find any missing or broken toys, as well as our exhibits team continues to work on exhibits as certain issues arise to make sure guests have the best experience possible.
Experiência positiva: It’s a cool experience. I’m just confused why they charge adults. It’s for the kids. I’ll come back, but only at discounted rate
Hi! At Port Discovery we want everyone who steps through our doors to have a wonderful experience, that being said, the museum is designed for children but it is also designed to encourage parents to interact with the exhibits and play with their children to the full capacity which is why the price for children and adults are the same. We encourage adults to go through the exhibits with their children, ask the children questions, and discover new things with them. We hope this answers your question. If you have further thoughts please contact us at [email protected].
Experiência negativa: Kids 6 and 8 got bored very quickly. It’s a Petri dish of bacteria with younger kids actually putting play food in their mouths and kids coughing all over everything they touch.
Hi Amanda! We are sorry to hear that you had a less than fantastic time at the museum during your visit. We strive to make sure that everyone at all ages has a good time. Our exhibits are designed for different ages so every kid will interact with the exhibits differently. Some may spend hours in one exhibit while others may go through the whole building in a couple of hours. As for our toys, like our play food, we encourage parents to place toys their child might have coughed on, or placed in their mouths in one of our designated dirty bin for immediate sanitation. Our staff takes every afternoon to reset the exhibits and that includes sanitizing loose toys like our play food. If you have any further questions, please reach out to us at [email protected]!
Experiência positiva: Great place to bring younger kids and keep them entertained. It is educational as well. Went during a school day so it wasn’t crowded.
Hi! Thank you for visiting. We are so happy to hear that you had a great time and hope to see you again soon!
Experiência negativa: This place opened years ago and it was marvelous. None of the attractions have been maintained, everything is broken and worn out. It’s obvious that they are out of money or don’t care. Charging full price for adults is lazy. For me and my son to come here, it’s $50. The science center is cheaper and better in every way. What a shame.
Hi Jesse! We are sad to hear that you and your child did not have a great experience in our museum. It is goal to make sure that everyone who steps through our doors has a wonderful time. The museum is designed for children but it is also designed to encourage parents to interact with the exhibits and play with their children to the full capacity. Fun note: We are in the beginning process of our 5 years museum renovation plans where we will be making changes and adding to our exhibits. So stay tuned to see the next set of exhibits.
Experiência positiva: It is with great pleasure that I reflect on today's visit to Port Discovery, an establishment that provides an excellent environment for children to play and learn. While the experience was positive for the children, I encountered a rather disconcerting issue with the bathroom facilities. As a parent of a seven-year-old child with disabilities, I faced a challenge with the women's bathroom change table, which was too small for my child's size. Given his low muscle tone condition, he requires to be changed to a lying position, which is not feasible with the current facility's design. Despite this, I am grateful for the assistance of Katheryn, the General Services Manager, who helped me with a makeshift change table. However, this cannot be a permanent solution. While speaking with another family, I learned that they, too, were facing similar issues with the bathroom facilities for their child with special needs. The family room bathrooms have larger space, but they lack a suitable change table for children with special needs. I believe that Port Discovery must address this issue and take a more serious look at accommodating children with special needs. A more extended change table in the family room bathroom would be a simple and effective solution. I am confident that with the establishment's commitment to providing an exceptional experience for all visitors, such accommodations can be made, ensuring that families with children with special needs can enjoy the facilities without any hindrances..
Hi Krystal- Thank you for visiting Port Discovery and for taking the time to leave such a kind and thoughtful review. This issue has been brought to our Leadership team's attention, and we are working on a more permanent solution. We appreciate you bringing this to our attention because it is incredibly important that all children, families and caregivers are all comfortable and able to play in and enjoy our facility.
Experiência fantástica: I took my 2nd grade class for a field trip. By all student accounts, it was one of their best days ever. Tons to do and so many nice, helpful people around the facility. Special shout out to Grace, who helped me organize the trip. She could not have been more amazing and can't thank her enough. From phone calls, to emails, to finally meeting her in person the day of the trIp, she was kind and patient every step of the way. Not sure the trip would have happened without her assistance. If you are looking for an awesome field trip for your students, this is the place. Fun and educational. Thank you to everyone who helped our school that day.
Hi! We are so happy to hear that you had such a wonderful field trip experience. Grace is the best and we will let her know about your kind words.
Experiência fantástica: It is the perfect place to have your kiddos expa d their imagination in a safe environment. My kids love coming here.
Experiência fantástica: A FIVE STAR visit to Baltimore's Port Discovery Children's Museum with our two grandchildren (girl and boy with upcoming birthdays 4 & 2). Easy and discounted parking in the deck adjacent to the museum for visitors. Strollers, no problem. The museum has many visually interesting and exciting interactive exhibits for all ages. A must stop for kids in Baltimore. Dining and vending area inside the museum; tons of nearby restaurants and historic Baltimore harbor just steps outside the museum. Easy to walk around key sites and return to the museum parking deck. Public safety was not an issue. Have a great time!
Hi! Thank you for visiting. We are so happy to hear that you had a great time and hope to see you again soon!
Experiência fantástica: Had a fantastic experience here with our family. We're grateful for the ramps leading to the soccer area and the elevator since we did have a need for accessibility. Always a plus when the activities are open to people of different needs! Anyway that could be increased would be amazing. Highly recommend to get the extra energy out of children and educational activities everywhere are also great. We enjoyed the Egyptian section and shipping container areas a ton!
Hi Hannah-Thank you for visiting Port Discovery and leaving such a kind rating! We hope to see you back soon.
Experiência fantástica: Kids had a blast! My only issue is that whoever is taking care of cleaning the bathroom needs to clean the sink, there was noticeable mold
Hi Vicky- Thank you for visiting Port Discovery and for leaving a kind rating and review. Thanks for letting us know about the mold. Do you remember which bathroom it was? If so, please email [email protected] with that information so that we can look further into it. We hope to see you back soon!
Experiência fantástica: My son had a ball with his friend! They ran non-stop for 2 hrs and got worn out. Highlights were the massively high spiral slide, obstacle/netting trampoline space and the freighter ship simulator. They also liked serving us food at the diner.
Hi there- Thank you for visiting Port Discovery and for leaving a such a kind rating and review! We are so happy to hear that your son and his friend had a great time. We hope to see you back soon.
Experiência negativa: The staff was nice, the establishment was clean, and it wasn't crowded at all. Definitely needs to be updated with more interesting and interactive activities for the children to learn and play. I'm sure when it first opened, it was the place to be as a kid. However, in 2024, not so much. My 2 year old was very uninterested and ready to go after 42 minutes. Most of the children I saw were mostly just running around chasing each other as opposed to interacting with the museum exhibits and activities. I hardly saw any of the children interacting with any of the exhibits on all 3 floors. Even the other parents looked bored. It's not a place I would go back to without a reason, such as a kids' party or a class trip. Port Discovery isn't a place I would suggest as a fun weekend activity.
Hi NaKeshia- Thank you for visiting Port Discovery and for leaving a rating and review. We are glad to hear that you had a good experience with our staff and the cleanliness of the building. However, we are sorry to hear you didn't have a great experience with our exhibits. We completely understand the museum is not for everyone, though, and we thank you for visiting and trying it out!
Experiência positiva: Had a really fun day. My kid loved everything. The big slide is worth the price of admission itself. Other exhibits are great too. That said, some are definitely in need of repairs and others are ready for full remodels. Staff was excellent, both guest services and the educational program staff. Other things - Secure cubbies were free and easy to use. Bring your parking ticket with you if you drive. The museum validates about half the price of parking. Plenty of hand sanitizer to go around. Would definitely come back.
Hi Joseph- Thank you for visiting Port Discovery and for leaving a kind rating and review! We appreciate the thoroughness of your review and are glad you had a great time! We hear you on the need for remodeling and actually have a 5 year $17.5 million renovation plan that we have already begun with exciting plans for new exhibits. We hope to see you back soon!
Experiência positiva: Gets four stars for the location and things you can do after or before. It’s cute for the little ones and interesting enough. Clean enough - I didn’t like the water area, it was gross. The bubble contraption was cute but the tub of water the kids played in looked like a cesspool for disease and that’s just to me personally, so make that decision yourself. The other kids were having a ball in it. But it was a strong no for me, so I didn’t let my child play in it. Other than that everything else was pretty cool for the kids. I took a two year old and a ten year old and they both really enjoyed themselves. Staff was friendly and helpful. I’d say it’s worth going.
Hi Elle- Thank you for visiting Port Discovery and for leaving a kind rating and review! We are glad to hear that your kids had fun. We hope to see you back soon!
Experiência fantástica: We went for first time last Sunday! Was perfect for my 6yo and my 10yr son who is autistic so many activities it was an amazing day !!! 11 am to 5 pm we even left to eat and came back was the best play/learning activity we did with the kids. Buy tickets online best way to do it!
Hi Cynthia- Thank you for visiting Port Discovery and for leaving a kind rating and review! We are so happy to hear that it was a great time for your kiddos. We hope to see you back soon! Also, for your 10 yr old, we do have Sensory Friendly Sundays once a month where we open 2 hours early on a Sunday for a lower sensory setting. If you think that would be helpful for your family, you can learn more here: https://www.portdiscovery.org/visit/programs-events/access-inclusion-and-sensory-friendly-programs/sensory-friendly-mornings/
Experiência fantástica: There are so many activities for the children. A lot of hands-on material.
Hi Larry- Thank you for visiting Port Discovery and for leaving such a kind rating and review! We hope to see you back soon.
Experiência fantástica: Great experiences for the kids. Many fun learning stations. Everything is well maintained and clean. Staff is friendly and helpful. Parking is close and not too expensive.
Hi George- Thank you for visiting Port Discovery and for leaving such a kind rating! We are so happy to hear you all had a great experience with the staff and the exhibits and building. We hope to see you back soon!
Experiência fantástica: What a cool place for kids to explore and learn about science, art, nature, theater, cooking, climbing, etc. I was inspired and awestruck. I have friends with kids who highly recommend Port Discovery. I'm glad I got to visit.
Hi there- Thank you for visiting Port Discovery and for leaving such a kind rating and review! We are so happy to hear you had a great time and left feeling inspired. We hope to see you back soon!
Experiência fantástica: We spent a fantastic Sunday at Port Discovery. I took my 6-year-old son, 4-year-old daughter and two nieces (ages 3 and 6). We spent over four hours wandering from room to room. They loved every part, from the 3-story slide in the main lobby to the theater room to the construction zone and water area. Sometimes the kids played together and worked on projects as a team. Other times they played on their own. It felt like there were many layers to discover. They got a lot of energy out but it was also somehow peaceful. My sister and I also got to sit back and watch quite a bit, which was nice. We had a great time and would highly recommend it!
Hi Sarah- Thank you for visiting Port Discovery and for leaving such a kind rating and review! We are so happy to hear you had a wonderful Sunday and that you all enjoyed your experience. We hope to see you back soon!
Experiência fantástica: We had a blast! Great for all ages. I went with my 3yr old. There are some areas geared more towards younger toddlers. The huge slide is only for those 36inches and up. Appropriate as it is very big. Garage parking close by that you can buy discounted beforehand. There's a large eating area that has lots of different foods you can buy. We spent 5hrs there. Lots to do. 10/10 recommended!
Hi Cleopatre- Thank you for visiting and for leaving such a kind rating and review! We are so happy to hear that you and your kiddo had a great time and were able to spend almost all day exploring. We hope to see you back soon!
Experiência negativa: SO DISAPPOINTED. On a trip with my three year old… He was so excited to see this place. The person at the front desk needs a course in customer service. Extremely rude. After driving for hours, we were told they would not accept my military ID because it says “spouse”… I have been to dozens of museums (check my reviews) I would never go back to this place just based of principle alone.
Hi Brittany- Thank you for visiting Port Discovery and for taking the time to leave a review about your experience. We are truly sorry to hear about your poor experience. We pride ourselves in our customer service and strive to make our museum one that is inclusive to all and are sorry to hear that did not happen for you. We have shared this with our leadership team so that they are aware of your experience and can address it. Our Salute the Troops Program allows free entry to military personnel and veterans. Spouses of military personnel can enter for free if the service person is currently deployed. If that was the case for you or if you have any questions, please reach out to [email protected].
Experiência positiva: We went on a community pricing day so only paid $10/each for all ages. Plus the $15 parking. Well worth the visit. My 4 year old had a blast trying all of the hands-on exhibits. His favorite area was the wet play tower building, as well as the coding workshop (i.e. Kibo the robot). Most of the staff were kind and welcoming, but there were at least 2 workers who were obnoxiously miserable and their energy was exhausting. Specifically the young lady at the blue desk @ 9am on Friday last week. Get a different job if you hate this one ♀️
Hi Tye- Thank you for visiting Port Discovery and for leaving a kind rating and review! We are so happy to hear your 4 year old had a great time! We hope to see you back soon.
Experiência fantástica: I am one who have been to 15-20 different children museum's and this one is definitely in my top three. A little on the pricey side but we'll kept, good exhibits, we'll spaced out. The theme of port work is carried through the museum with elements of other things sprinked in. Recommend for ages 2-8.
Hi Trina- Thank you for visiting Port Discovery and leaving such a kind rating and review! We are so proud to be in the top few of the places you have visited! We hope to see you back soon.
Experiência fantástica: This museum was awesome. We went on a Friday during the day, not busy at all. They accept military ID for free entry. They let adults go on the big slide which is cool. Water splash pad on third floor. Definitely recommend.
Hi Katherine- Thank you for visiting Port Discovery and for leaving a kind rating and review! We hope to see you back soon.
Experiência fantástica: My 1.5yr old and I had a great time! Lots of things for younger kids. Thanks Kevin (greeter) who pointed out the tiny tots area on the second level, that was great!
Hi Dana- Thank you for visiting Port Discovery and leaving such a kind rating and review! We are happy to hear your kiddo had a great time and that Kevin helped you find Tot Trails! We hope to see you back soon.
Experiência positiva: Right in the Bay area and a great place to kill 3 hours easily. Something to do for everyone even me. (Playing in the water table) be prepared for getting wet! Long slide, cargo net climbs, arts, crafts, building blocks, best for crawling kids through 10ish. Older kids may get bored. Pics are of my fam so please be respectful. Good spot for kiddo play time.
Hi Eric- Thank you for visiting Port Discovery and leaving a kind rating and review! We are so glad to hear you and your kiddos had fun! We hope to see you back soon.
Experiência positiva: Just an okay experience. Kids aged 9, 7, and almost 2. Visiting from out of town, looking for something to pass the time between appointments. Toddler area was too dull for the little one, bigger kids were trampling him in the open areas. Waste of $20+ for his ticket when there was nothing of real interest for him there. Older kids had an alright time, but were not as impressed with other children's museums we have been to. Staff on the play floors were very friendly/interactive.
Hi Caitlin- Thank you for visiting Port Discovery and for taking the time to leave a review. We are sorry to see that your experience was just okay, but we appreciate the time you took to check out and explore the museum. If you have any suggestions about what could have been improved in either Chessie's Grotto or Tot Trails to keep your little one interested, please let us know! Feel free to email [email protected] as well if you would like. We are happy to see you had a good experience with our staff, though. Thanks again for visiting!
Experiência fantástica: The best children’s museums we’ve been to yet (and we’ve been to a few) great activities in each floor. Multiple areas to play with different concepts. Love the toddler (3 and under room). All around a place the kids played for hours and could play many more.
Hi Candice- Thank you for visiting Port Discovery and for leaving such a kind rating and review! We are so happy to hear that you and your kiddos had fun. We hope to see you back soon!
Experiência fantástica: My family and I didn't know what to expect when we visited Discovery Children's Museum. We had a fantastic time!! My wife and kids enjoyed it. They have many activities. The big slide/sky climber was a great attraction and enjoyable for kids and adults. There are other play areas i.e. a diner theme, water fun, reading nook, etc. When you purchase a ticket, you get a discount at Philips Seafood 2 blocks away which was amazing. We will definitely visit again!
Hi Mickster- Thank you for visiting Port Discovery and leaving such a kind rating and review! We are so happy to hear you had an awesome time. We look forward to your next visit!
Experiência fantástica: Definitely worth the trip ! The kids had fun. If you have an EBT card, the admissions ticket is $3 per person and they verify at the front desk so make sure the person who buys the tickets is present. Also, make sure that you have socks … we came with scandals because it’s summer and the kids couldn’t go up the slide. They have a microwave so you can warm up food and they also have a ‘store’ but no major restaurants. You can patron surrounding establishments that give discounts ! They do have discounted parking in the garage that is next door but honestly, I would say go up a few blocks and get parking for $1/hour with a maximum of 4 hours, on the street. You’ll have to look but it’s cheaper than the garage.
Hi Angela- Thank you for visiting Port Discovery and leaving such a helpful and kind review! We are so happy to hear that your kiddos had fun. Great tips about socks, food and parking! We hope to see you back soon.
Experiência fantástica: So much to do here we regret getting there around noon and wish we would have been there from opening on. We have an 8 and a 5 year old and they were the perfect age. Either bring a change of clothes or a bathing suit for the water room. They provide smocks but they still get wet. Sandals are a good idea however they do have a variety of Crocs to put on. I'm sure there was stuff we missed because when my little ones get focused on something they like they don't like to move. The slide is the most intriguing of everything there but make sure you go up the right side of the ropes to get there! Can't wait to go back
Hi Michelle- thank you for visiting Port Discovery and for leaving such a kind rating and review! We are so happy to hear your kiddos had a great time and thanks for sharing the tip about bringing extra clothes. We look forward to your next visit!
Experiência fantástica: Had a blast here once again!! They have new exhibits which i looove for the kids. And they have a book store now which is awesome!! Will definitely be back soon
Hi Eboney- Thank you so much for visiting Port Discovery (again!) and for leaving such a kind rating and review. We are so happy to hear you had a great time. We love Snug Books, too! They have a location on Harford Road as well which you should definitely check out :) We look forward to your next visit!
Experiência fantástica: Excellent place for kids. All the minute details, the toys, the learning places are great. Safe place for the kids. Friendly staff
Hi Chirag- Thank you for visiting Port Discovery and for leaving such a kind review! We are happy to hear that you had a great experience. We hope you come back soon!
Experiência fantástica: ***BRING EXTRA CLOTHES AND SHOES FOR YOUR KIDS*** I failed my child when we went by not bringing extra shoes. But I had no idea we were going to need them. The water room is definitely a water room with a little bit of splash pad in there. They do supply water coats and crocs. So definitely use those or bring your own. But come prepared for the water room. But this place was really great. We spent about 4 hours there and could have easily been there all day. Plus you can leave and get something to eat and come back which is really nice. This is a place to take the kids so there is a quiet drive home.
Hi Richelle- Thank you for visiting Port Discovery and for leaving such a kind review! We definitely encourage a change of clothes and shoes if you are going to play in WOW, so thank you for sharing that tip to others. We know that people forget or don't realize, though, which is why we have the Crocs and coats, so please don't feel bad about not realizing! We are so happy to hear you had a great time. We hope to see you back soon!
Experiência positiva: Although this has historically been a really great place for my small kids, there were so many things that were broken or missing that the museum today felt very overcrowded. I also felt a little bent out of sorts about not getting parking validated today. A notification about this unexpected change would have been nice when making the Port Discovery reservation!
Hi Mitchell- Thank you for visiting Port Discovery and for taking the time to leave a review. We are happy to hear that you usually love your time at Port Discovery but are sorry to see this visit missed the mark. Thank you for your feedback. We are working on implementing a way that visitors can easily notify an Exhibits Staff member when something gets broken during their visit, so hopefully in the future, you can more quickly notify someone who can come take a look at what has been broken. Regarding parking, our partners at the Harbor Park Garage unfortunately never validate on Federal Holidays. We will work on making this a bit more clear to visitors who come on those holidays.
Experiência positiva: Very polite staff. Clean restrooms. Easy access from parking garage to building. Couldn’t spend more than an hour or two inside before running through the exhibits. Definitely geared toward smaller kids… up to 12 years of age is a stretch. Overall a nice facility, though.
Hi B- Thank you for visiting Port Discovery and leaving a kind review! We are happy to hear you had a great time overall. Yes, we are geared towards 8 and under but absolutely welcome kids of all ages!
Experiência fantástica: My daughter visited this place not long ago and let me say I was excited to see all the kids enjoying this place and how much they put into this location to make it fun for kids!! We will return !!
Hi Alan- Thank you for visiting Port Discovery and for taking the time to leave a kind rating and review! We're so happy to hear your daughter had fun and that you enjoyed your experience. We look forward to seeing you when you return!
Experiência positiva: Been here a few times and it is a great spot for younger kids (maybe 8 and under) to have fun and explore. There’s lots of areas for imaginative play, a craft room, and of course the enormous slide. The slide is best for older kids as the little ones may be afraid climbing up that high. The day we visited the air was out so that was a little rough. The water room continues to be a favorite. You may want to pack a change of clothes for that. The price could also be a little more affordable. There is nothing really to do for adults so charging for kids only like other similar children’s museums might be better. You can probably do the whole museum in under 3 hours.
Hi Alex- Thank you for visiting Port Discovery and for leaving a kind rating and review! We are happy to hear that you had a good time. We understand that pricing can be expensive so we do offer a variety of discounts year round. This webpage is always updated with our current discounts in case you want to check it out: https://www.portdiscovery.org/visit/programs-events/discounted-admission-programs/. We appreciate your feedback and have passed it on to our team. We hope to see you back again soon!
Experiência fantástica: I went there last Sunday for my niece’s birthday she had a blast definitely loved the place, my visit didn’t had a happy end however ☹️ I was carrying a Marshall’s bag with a change of clothes and shoes for my niece and my sunglasses , I remember carrying the bag around but at some point I placed some where and forgot to pick it up I went back ask the staff members if someone returned it or something they let me search for it but I didn’t find it, I couldn’t believe someone will just take it like that, it’s my fault because I forgot it, BUT seriously you will take something that’s not yours is a kids place, it’s in inconceivable, if you go there secure your stuff.
Hi Maritza- Thank you for visiting Port Discovery and for leaving such a kind rating. We are so happy to hear that your niece had lots of fun but very sorry about the lost items! That's definitely very upsetting and frustrating! We have reminded our team about it in case anything has turned up since.
Experiência fantástica: Amazing experience! A little costly for visit; however the children enjoyed Port Discovery
Hi Rhonda- Thank you for visiting Port Discovery and leaving such a kind rating! We are so happy to hear you had a great time and that the kiddos loved it. We do understand that the museum can be pricy, so we really appreciate everyone who makes the investment. We hope to see you back soon!
Experiência negativa: *I HATE THIS PLACE* Overtly expensive. Ridiculous. Parking is atrocious. It’s a “non-profit” but charges parents to sit around and watch the kids play. THERE IS NO MENTION OF SOCKS NEEDED ON THE WEBSITE. I mean, I had been here before but it was pre-COVID. It’s not worth visiting more than once a year, if that. I won’t pay for a family pass. $75 for 3 people and $15 parking is a $100 day. I grew up in CA and the I remember the children’s museum and science museum in Los Angeles. This doesn’t hold a candle. Not for the price. We only came here because it’s raining and the library is closed and I knew Hyper Kidz would be over crowded. My kids wanted to come here. It’s clean, but for the price I would rather see it shut down. I mentioned the price at the front desk and they said “the aquarium has us beat. It’s $50.” And guess what? I’ve never been there, either. I’ve been to aquariums in Chicago, Atlanta, Long Beach… but not this one. It’s an aquarium with bad reviews… and your answer is that you’re cheaper than the aquarium with bad reviews! Is that something to be proud of? The point is that the attractions for children and families in Baltimore are severely lacking! Throw in the science museum lol. This is a PROBLEM. Get with your corporate donors, get with your local politicians, stop charging parents, stop charging for socks and overall, DO BETTER.
Hi Crystal- Thank you for visiting Port Discovery and for taking the time to leave a review. We are sorry to see that you were disappointed in your experience. We are a nonprofit which relies both on ticket sales and donations to help fund the museum and the various programs we do (events, access & inclusion programs, multi generations at play, etc.) We are really grateful for all the families who come through our doors and support the museum in some way! We do hope that parents or guardians play with their kiddos and get a lot out of the museum as well which is why we charge the same price. We do mention socks are needed on the website: https://www.portdiscovery.org/open-play-areas/sky-climber/. However, we will look at how we can make this a bit more apparent! We appreciate the feedback.Unfortunately, like most attractions in the city, we do not have a parking lot, but we do partner with the garage next door to offer discounted parking. We understand that this in addition to tickets can be very expensive, though, which is why we offer a variety of discounts for families year round including our PlayMakers program. Thank you for the feedback! We have passed it along to our team at the musuem.
Experiência fantástica: Great place to take children. It’s like an indoor jungle gym of things to do. It’s $20 for a ticket to enter and you must sign a waiver releasing them of responsibility of injuries.
Hi Michael - Thank you so much for visiting Port Discovery. We really appreciate your very kind review. We're thrilled to see you had a great visit and enjoyed the many things to do! Hope to see you again soon.
