Contudo, alguns visitantes expressaram descontentamento:

Experiência positiva: Meh, kinda boring and woke. Moderate price so it's ok if it's a rainy day and there's nothing else to do.
Experiência fantástica: This museum is incredible! It is so worth the visit! I do wish they had more native artifacts from local tribes, especially because all of the local museums for specific tribes are closed right now for some reason. I discussed this with the guy at the front desk, and he said that because of a lot of laws that allow tribes to take back artifacts, they have many artifacts from tribes from Montana or Illinois or Mississippi or Maine, but a lot less from local places. Metacom’s bow wasn’t there (presumed to have been used during King Phillips war, where the relationship with the colonists and the natives deteriorated), and I don’t know that there was anything from the Natick tribes. I was also sad that John Eliot’s Bible wasn’t there! I had just gone to deer Island, where the native tribes were termed during Kings Phillips war, and I had just gone to Newton, to see the location of the Natick tribe that Elliott first made into a praying tribe. I was hoping I would get to see a copy of his Bible, but I did not. Would love to find out where it is because I will go! Unless of course it’s in another country… That would be sad. There is a way for wheelchair users to get into the building, but it is by going through the adjacent library. If you go through the library, there is an elevator that takes you up a floor so you can get onto the main level of the museum. There is almost no parking. I had to park by Dudley Café and Starbucks on Wendell Street and walk over. It took me a good hour to walk over because it was so hot and I had to stop and sit and drink and it just took so long. The good thing is that if you have a handicap sticker, you can park in any metered spot and the time limits do not apply and you don’t have to pay. That’s very good because it took me forever to get there. By the time I got there, I was so tired , I just needed to sit for a minute and thankfully everyone was very kind. Pretty cool that Henry David Thoreau found the arrowheads! How cool is that?! I also personally had no idea that Harvard had a school for native Americans and it was really amazing to hear about the archaeological work on the campus even today! Very very cool. As a local educator, I would love to connect more! My students would find that so fascinating! Free for residents on Sunday mornings 9-12, and Wednesday afternoons (not sure exact hours).
Experiência fantástica: Wealth of antiquities
Experiência positiva: If you are MA resident, you can visit this museum for free on Wednesday from 3pm-5pm, and on Sunday in the morning. I must admit, that this year the displays with artifacts have changed. Almost half of them were removed, and replaced with inscription, about cultural sensitivities. I was really shocked, because there was almost nothing left to see. I am really curious to see that person, who came to the museum, and asked to remove some items. What was already history, can't be changed, or removed, if people are so sensitive nowadays, just stay at home, don't waste your time visiting the museum.
Experiência fantástica: Had a wonderful tour through the Peabody Museum of Archaeology. We were able to talk about the moral issues of archeology, modern techniques, why our guide loves the subject and what life is like as a student in Harvard. I loved it and learned a good deal as well.
Experiência fantástica: good place to visit with kids!
Experiência fantástica: Excellent museum connected to the Museum of Natural History.
Experiência fantástica: Beautiful museum!
Experiência positiva: Cozy museum, multiple detailed dioramas. Two floors of permanent exhibits and one with what looks like maybe a rotating ebit.
Experiência positiva: Excellent collection, a bit crampt though, i feel there should be more space for the exhibit. Nice location, helpful staff.
Experiência fantástica: You are what you eat
Experiência positiva: Good, but very basic.
Experiência fantástica: Very cool displays of animals, gems and minerals, and other natural history. From a creepy wall of beetles to giant replicas of Giant Hairy Sloths, it's a great walk through Harvard Yard to get there from the bus. 2 hours or more to get the full experience
Experiência fantástica: The museum contains pieces from different periods of cultures and explanations are provided sufficiently.
Experiência fantástica: Pay once at the natural museum of history and you get to see this one also.
Experiência positiva: Good museum, with a variety of cultural material. The museum achieves a unique goal, of supplementing the history of the "study of anthropology" through time, and prompts the viewer to recalibrate how one "sees the collection". The ticketed entry allows access to the Peabody and Natural history museum.
Experiência positiva: Covering several distinct areas, this is a great little museum to visit. My favourite sections are on the Columbian Exposition and the different sites set up there from around the world but the old school Harvard Freshman's Dinner section is great too (love the specified cigarette brands on the original menu too!). This is a museum that's at its best on focused exhibitions however some sections can feel just a tad meandering. Very good value ticket offering you access to the Natural History too (and the free Ancient Near East and Scientific Instruments museums are pretty close too!). There are restrooms and lift access to each floor as well as a small gift shop in the lobby (the lady on the counter was very friendly too!). I would also say take a back-up method of payment too- I bought tickets at the Natural History and their card machine was really acting up (card worked fine in all other stores both before and after)- got there in the end but wouldn't want anyone to miss out!
Experiência fantástica: Amazing!!! Well worth the visit.
Experiência fantástica: Admission included with the natural history museum. A lot of interesting exhibits.
Experiência positiva: Very educational.
Experiência fantástica: Wonderful
Experiência fantástica: Love this n Museum
Experiência fantástica: Connected to the natural history museum
Experiência fantástica: my family love this museum
Experiência positiva: It was an amazing experience I highly recommend visiting this museum
Experiência fantástica: Super interesting museum that is free to Massachusetts residents every Sunday morning from 9am until noon.
Experiência fantástica: Staff super friendly and exhibits are fun/best with the people you love to be with! Pretty LGBT friendly as well!
Experiência fantástica: Since it's the same ticket as natural history museum, this museum is just a bonus. Natural history museum is the true gem
Experiência positiva: The Latin America section of the museum was awesome and the Native American Section was cool as well!
Experiência fantástica: Must see if you like museums and are near Harvard. Lots of placards to read and artifacts to take in.
Experiência positiva: Some good artifacts but extremely small museum - glad it's included in the fee for the main museum of natural history.
Experiência positiva: Excellent Native American exhibit, but other areas were just ok.
Experiência negativa: Came to the knowledge that this Museum has held for the last 80 years.. nearly 700 under age indigenous peoples hair cuttings from boarding schools! This is sickening beyond belief in 2022! I'm in shock. 100 years ago maybe!!! Shame!
Experiência positiva: Interesting museum with many archeological artefacts through the ages. There is a room full of glass plants and flowers. Plus it is connected to a museum with plenty of amazing rocks, stones and minerals of our globe.
Experiência positiva: Informative Native American exhibits - you can learn a lot about the indigenous history of Harvard's Indian College as well. So many interesting Native American artifacts and stories of objects that have been repatriated. However, some exhibits (Resetting the Table for example) seemed to be pushing a political agenda to be anti-colonialist/anti-elitist which felt hypocritical 1) being immediately juxtaposed with exhibits about peoples like the Mayans with a bloody, violent history and who practiced human sacrifice and 2) being at a very historically elitist institution.
Experiência fantástica: We arranged for a visit for a school group who had an interest in native American artifacts and history so from a quick search, we discovered the Peabody Museum and I'm so glad we did! The group had a wonderful visit and setting up the tour through their staff was seamless. Highly recommend a visit if your coming to the area, especially if you are a student travel group.
Thank you for the recommendation!
Experiência fantástica: The entire museum and the exhibits are very educational, beautiful and high quality! Not too crowded. Def recommend!
Experiência fantástica: Awesome museum with a lot of information on the indigenous tribes all around the world, I learned a lot and I enjoy the visit with my family.
Thanks, Eduardo!
Experiência fantástica: Much preferred the lower floors than the top one, found all of it very interesting though. Was decidedly not crowded on the day we went.
Experiência fantástica: I really enjoyed the North America exhibit, very detailed, interesting and beautifully presented. I definitely recommend seeing the glass flowers collection, they are beautifully made and the details and accuracy are stunning. The minerals collection is quite impressive. I liked that one can walk freely between this museum and the Museum of Natural History.
Experiência fantástica: The artifacts were amazing and the museum is beautiful
Experiência positiva: Great! Recommended!
Experiência positiva: Not bad
Experiência fantástica: Really great time!
Experiência fantástica: Very interesting exhibits
Experiência fantástica: Glass flowers, certainly. Meso-American stelae rock ;)
Experiência fantástica: A great place to visit with the family
Experiência fantástica: Nice museum in the Harvard campus with some great exhibits
Experiência fantástica: It was truly an eye-opening experience. Would definitely try to find the time to revisit again!
Experiência fantástica: Small in area, big on displays. A worthwhile visit on any hot day.
Experiência positiva: Nice museum with interesting archeological artifacts, mainly focusing on Native American cultures
Experiência fantástica: Fantastic museum of natural history. The glass flowers are a wonder of the world, and a must see exhibit.
Experiência fantástica: The North America collection was detailed and thoughtfully presented. Loved learning about the significance of blue roan horses. Of course do not miss seeing the famous glass flowers.
Thank you. We love the blue roans, too, especially the blue roan horse stick effigy created by co-curator and tribal educator Butch Thunder Hawk.
Experiência fantástica: Enjoyed the Natural History area, very informative.
Experiência fantástica: Small but exquisite collection that gives a good overview to the development of anthropology, featuring American cultures. Joint entry fee with Museum of Natural History.
Experiência negativa: I would really like to visit this museum. The treasure trove of artifacts here belong to all of us around the world. Our history and heritage is there especially our Native American history. My one star review is based on the frustration that the museum leaders have refused to open to the public. They say it is due to COVID, which I can understand to some degree. But every other small and large business, aquarium, and presidential library in the greater Boston area is open. These other institutions are trying to serve the public, but the Peabody museum would rather hold back than put the public first. This doesn’t seem right to me.
Hi, LaLone Ranger. I'm sorry we haven't been open and I appreciate your frustration. We are working on a phased reopening with Harvard University, and expect to welcome everyone back starting November 26. See www.hmsc.harvard.edu/visit for more on the reopening, and we hope to see you then.
Experiência fantástica: This is part of a bundle for entry into the Harvard museums. Takes about 35 minutes to go through- absolutely no parking on site. The first floor has some nice interactive moments for kids, but the upper levels do not (more adult audience).
Experiência positiva: A lot to see, authentic artifacts of native cultures. They should make it more accessible to low income communities. If you have little to no resources you will not be able to appreciate what is here. I brought my family members for them to enjoy and learn and they really liked it but the costs quickly added up to $75. A cost which was difficult for me to afford. Most attendees seem to be Harvard students. I am a decendent of the Mayan peoples and am privileged enough to see what my ancestors have left. But I know there are others like me who will never lay eyes on what is held here. Very sad to say.
Experiência fantástica: I remember most of all the collection of stones. Extremely beautiful. I didn’t find how to buy a ticket online, most likely this function is not available. Ticket for adults - $15, kids from 3 to 18 - $10, up to 3 years - free.
Experiência fantástica: An extensive collection of Native American and Mesoamerican artifacts and information. Tons of information with recreations and inside information about the archaeological process. This museum also connects to the Peabody Natural History museum on the 3rd floor, which is also excellent. It reminds me of a smaller Smithsonian.
Experiência fantástica: The Peabody Museum has some very interesting collections of artifacts from the many native peoples of North and South America. Their exhibit on North American Mound Builders is particularly detailed and fascinating. Admission allows you to see the Harvard Museum of Natural History as well. Seeing both is a great afternoon activity.
Experiência fantástica: They have a really interesting array of artifacts from an unexpectedly broad and complete world view of history. This is accessible through the Harvard Museum of Natural history and both combined are the perfect size to fit in an afternoon.
Experiência fantástica: This is a great museum, reasonably priced, where you are able to see some really cool exhibits and learn some cool stuff. On the beautiful Harvard campus, and close to other attractions.
Experiência fantástica: Learned many things I didn't know and was happy to learn them. Much of what was presented dovetailed to recent reads. Excellent presentation.
Thank you, Ira!
Experiência fantástica: Great museum! Takes 1-2 hours depending on how leisurely you go through the exhibits, which is the perfect amount to me (no museum fatigue). It’s also directly connected to the Harvard museum of natural history!
Experiência positiva: Great place to gather with family and friends.
Experiência negativa: Give back the Chichen Itzá treasures...
Experiência fantástica: Looks nice-ish. It's funny that Google Maps asks me to review places when all I did was take a picture of the exterior.
We'll take that nice review, and thank you!
Experiência positiva: A small collection of artifacts (quite a bit smaller than I was expecting). You can power through in half an hour if needed and still see everything (without reading the descriptions). A pretty heavy focus on cultural artifacts from the Americas, which is nice because that's often not as central to many other larger and more famous museums. Could use a bit of elbow grease on some of the more aged exhibits for cleanup and retouching.
Experiência fantástica: Legendary science collection curated by Harvard... The glass flower exhibit is not to be missed! You may not believe some of them aren't real...
Experiência fantástica: It was amazing to see
Experiência fantástica: Very information rich
Experiência fantástica: Always a great time
Experiência fantástica: The American Indian artifacts!
Experiência positiva: High quality museum.
Experiência fantástica: Lots of information. Very worthwhile.
Experiência fantástica: So much amazing info!
Experiência fantástica: “Nothing is as far away as one minute ago.”
Experiência fantástica: Great Lakota exhibit!
Experiência fantástica: Very nice experience for the whole family.
Experiência positiva: Fun day, lots of stuff to see
Experiência positiva: Enjoyed my time spent hete !!
Experiência positiva: Is a great place to learn about ancient cultures.
Experiência fantástica: Wonderful examples of American Indian artifacts.
Experiência fantástica: I live it, seeing different rock from all over the world it was incredible
Experiência fantástica: Outstanding museum, gotta see it for yourself.
Experiência fantástica: Very interesting and informative lots of pieces for display.
Experiência positiva: Not as good as the natural history museum, but something you can combine with that to make a full morning or afternoon.
Experiência fantástica: The exhibits are set up great and are so informative
Experiência fantástica: Great place to visit! Beautiful museum.
Experiência negativa: The collection was very nice but the staffs were not friendly.
Experiência fantástica: I've been here more than 20 times, yet I always find something new and fascinating. Very well curated!
Experiência fantástica: What an incredible place. I can't say enough about it. Every room is filled with amazing collections.
Experiência fantástica: Excellent museum, the glass flowers are amazing. Always learn something new when I go here.
Experiência positiva: Too many nice things. Good admission price .
Experiência fantástica: I was really impressed and surprised by the large collection of items from Chicago's world fair. The collection overall was very nice too, especially for the price of admission.
Experiência negativa: This museum financed the illegal exploration and ransacking of Mayan archeological sites for over 30 years, every single Mayan artifact you see here was stolen from the Yucatan peninsula, stripped of it's archeological context without even being properly listed so that it could be sold, to this day no one knows for sure how many items where sacked or where they ended up, this museum is directly responsible for one of the biggest atrocities to science and culture of the XIX and XX century, and they won't even admit it, scum.
Experiência fantástica: Interesting and dynamic museum focussed on anthropology and related topics. Exhibits are renewed frequently but what doesn't change is the combination of insightful organization and interesting content.
Experiência positiva: Is a great place to learn about ancient cultures. I can't think of a better museum here in the USA for the topic. You might want to go ahead and buy the guide. Ia just great.
Experiência positiva: Wide variety of artifacts from native American cultures.
