Experiência fantástica: Smallish free college art museum in high ceiling rooms on two floors. The art that was on exhibition contained selections from most periods of art history but concentrated on contemporary art. There were no works from artists whose name you would recognize but you should still go. Take a date or your parents for an hour and get dinner around the corner.

Experiência positiva: Good experience with the artwork, but I was very confused why a staff found it acceptable to falsly accuse my group of ''Mocking her'' when we did not.

Experiência positiva: Amazing Annunaki panels I was not expecting to see for free in the middle of a New Hampshire college museum. Unfortunately, "the watchers" woke mind virus has infected the directors of Hood Museum and caused them to attack turn of the century artists paintings in their dreadful placards. The impotent Rage Against Beauty is alive and well in Hood Museum and should be remedied as soon as possible.

Experiência positiva: Enjoyed parts of the museum it was clean, quiet and calm. The only thing I would suggest like many others have mentioned was the staff follows you around in a hovering type of manner. It was uncomfortable, unwelcoming and we ended up leaving earlier just from feeling rushed not being able to appreciate each piece.

Experiência positiva: Overall, I really enjoyed going to the museum and the installations they had. The historic paintings and other statuary was amazing. There were a number of Hispanic history installations that I found very interesting as this wasn't something that was taught during my schooling. All that being said, there was a clear political lean on the more modern installations which i certainly didn't appreciate or approve of.

Experiência positiva: A fine medium-sized art museum that can be comprehended in about two hours. Plan for 15 minutes contemplating the awesome Assyrian stone tablets, a centerpiece of their collection. Quality of visit will depend on special exhibitions as well as the inventiveness of the curators (already very good!).

Experiência fantástica: Even though this university museum is free, its collection is priceless. Many exhibits there are rotating, and my personal favorite was the Washington crossing the Delaware draft. This is a must in Dartmouth.

Experiência fantástica: Incredible experience and highly recommended. This is a free to visit art museum that has a good mixed collection of art pieces to view. We observed paintings, sculptures, and pottery during our visit in November 2022.

Experiência negativa: Unwelcome place if you want to have your child and family by yourself. I completely understand that the employees are on duty. But they should treat families with children more kindly ( at least with a SMILE! )

Experiência fantástica: Learnt a lot about historical artifacts. They are a teaching museum, so there is no hassle for fees or a gift shop (which I feel is not a bad idea as long as they don't make us walk by or through it).

Experiência fantástica: Our high school group was greeted by 3 well prepared tour guides. I appreciate the initial recognition that Dartmouth and the museum reside on unceded Abinaki land. This really allowed out students to find a level of necessary reverance for the experience. Thank you, Mary!

Experiência fantástica: One of the best and varied collections I have ever seen. It is notable they provide the provenance of a number of pieces. A important recognition of how pieces come into their possession.

The variety of styles and artists from old to new, classic to modern, famous to local was executed masterfully in a limited space. Great afternoon! Only problem was we were really excited to see the Picasso and the Mayfield Parish pieces that used to be there. Bring them back please!! ☺️

Experiência positiva: This is a small but great museum. I wish they provided more information about the pieces and the different exhibits but it was all cool to look at. The one thing that did bother me though was that it seemed like one of the staff was always following us. This made me feel rushed and I didn't get to spend as much time looking at each piece as I would have liked and we actually left early because of it. I love when admission is free though so I might be back :)

Experiência fantástica: Art from different eras and continents. A good representation of indigenous art and artists with written explanations of why they create the way they do. The collection descriptions often included questions that engage the viewer instead of just a factual description of the piece. Did I mention free admission?

Experiência fantástica: Beautiful new space! Wonderful items on show with interesting and thought-provoking blurbs. I was particularly interested in the conversation around provenance. My parents needed wheelchairs, which were quickly provided.

Experiência fantástica: Beautiful museum, inside and out, with fantastically curated exhibits. Friendly, knowledgeable staff. Very clean with ample seating areas. The student intern exhibit was nicely done. Ancient artifacts, paintings, sculptures and more. Parking can be an issue, it is a hoppin college town, but worth trip.

Experiência fantástica: Excellent exhibits that are free to explore. I spent about an hour there today and plan to go back to see more of the artwork soon. Highly recommend the Louise Hamlin exhibit on the second floor. Her forest paintings and scenes from Long Wind Farm (yeah! - the the "little guys" tomatoes farm) are stunning.

Experiência fantástica: I wanted to visit an art museum while on my way home from vacation. it was just the right size to appreciate it's remarkable displays without losing my husband's interest. (the exploded car engine or carburetor got his attention for a while) It has free admission too!

They removed their previously dominating stodgy renaissance to a small couple rooms on the side and replaced it with an incredible contemporary art collection. It's a small museum you can absorb in just over an hour, but well worth the visit.

Experiência fantástica: I really liked this place. Most importantly, it is free. It has a varied collection of art ranging from native American to Medittaranian to Modern age. There are paintings by Picasso as well. Many paintings about New England to give you a glimpse into the history of this place. Anyone visiting the area must visit this. It is very clean and well maintained.

Experiência fantástica: Recently renovated with a huge development cost, the Hood Museum is a fantastic array if modern and old art. With pieces of stone carried by camels through the desert to make there way to Dartmouth to 500 year old paintings a must see if your in the area. Admission is free of charge.

Experiência positiva: Lots to see but left me quite empty, expecting more for a newly opened renovation. The rooms seemed similar perhaps larger but same artifacts. Disappointed actually. Perhaps the darkness, the sultry depressive artifacts, the bizarreness of some, left me feeling the senslessnesss of including the newest pieces. They detract from the timeless, beautiful artwork that has been revered for centuries.
